Sweet Hate: If You Dare Series, Book 1
Note to Don’t play truth or dare with your super hot ex best friend if you’re not prepared to lose more than your panties. Which is why avoiding Axel Verona is the only priority as I come back to Sweet Haven for the first time in eleven years. But I didn’t count on accidentally setting my gram’s bakery on fire. Or that the super growly, chisel jawed fireman coming to my rescue would be none other than Axel himself.

I was hooked from the beginning and had a permanent grin while listening to this book. I could not stop laughing and to top it off it was deliciously hot. This book was so full of banter , chaos, electric chemistry, hard earned second chance, swoony, sweating and groveling. Everything I wanted in a rom-com. I appreciated the flow of the story with the rewinds into the past of the friendship, to the friends with benefits and ultimately to what broke them. It kept the story moving and created even more angst and tension.
Haven and Axel are perfect together but it was a rough road to forever but I think they needed the separation to become stronger and better people. Havens growth is the most noticeable and I love who she became. Axel redeems himself with some great groveling and this man filthy mouth should be enough to forgive all sins. Loved him and his big heart.
I adored the whole friend group and cant wait to get their storys. I liked how intrigal they all are to one another. Its a beautiful found family. And great set up for the rest.of the series.
This audiobook is duet narration by Andi Eloise and Christian Fox. Absolutely phenomenal job they did with this story. They gave it their all and their acting could be felt and heard. They delivered every emotion, every personality quark, and melted my ears. Also the reading of all the text banter and emoji's ...chef's kiss....so fun.

Holy mother… hold my cupcakes. 🧁
Because Christian Fox saying “fuuuuuucccckkkk…” has no business sounding that good. I’m convinced this audiobook has raised my blood sugar without me eating a single dessert.

I picked this up as a palate cleanser between some darker, heavier reads, and it was exactly what I didn’t know I needed.
From the opening chapters I was laughing out loud. Not the polite little nose-exhale either… proper giggling, snorting and rewinding because I’d missed the next line while I was still laughing.
I’ll admit the premise had me slightly scratching my head at first, but the narration completely swept me away. Once Andi and Christian settled into these characters, I was all in.
Andi Eloise gave Haven so much warmth, confidence and vulnerability. You genuinely feel her growth as she comes back stronger, refusing to settle for anything less than she deserves.
Then there’s Christian Fox…
What on earth was that performance?!
Axel is sweet, charming, completely obsessed, hilariously inappropriate and possesses a mouth that should probably be registered as a lethal weapon. The filthy things that came out of this man’s mouth had me clutching my Kindle while simultaneously laughing like an idiot.
The chemistry between these two narrators is phenomenal. Every flirt, every argument, every emotional moment and every spicy scene felt completely natural thanks to the duet narration.
And let’s talk about the grovelling…
Because I LOVE a man who has to work for his woman, and Axel absolutely delivers.
This book balances humour, romance, spice and emotion so well. One minute you’re laughing, the next you’re swooning, and then suddenly you’re reaching for a fan.
The ending wrapped everything up beautifully, and that epilogue left me with the biggest smile.
This was my first book by Canea Cox, but it definitely won’t be my last.
Also… Pinup Audio continues to prove why they’re becoming one of my favourite producers.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to budget for replacement AirPods because Christian Fox clearly intends to shorten the lifespan of every pair I own.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ for the audiobook (because the ⭐ limit is 5, so I can't go any higher 😭)
First of all, the selection of this cast was ON. POINT.
Goddamn, woman, when I thought your book couldn't get any better...
...you prove me wrong! 🫶
This was not reading.
This was not narrating.
This was voice acting. FULL. STOP.
Some of my favorite moments:
🩷when Andi and Christian read the text emojis out loud, OMG I never thought of how that would translate to audio 🤭
🩷the visual I got during their V-card conversation, where he starts (and does not stop) to nod comically #LOL

Absolutely unputdownable! A sizzling, emotional rollercoaster from start-to-finish.
When I saw Sweet Hate was 488 pages, I thought, how is this long-ass book going to keep me entertained the whole way through? But wow—Canea Cox proved me wrong in the best way possible. What a debut!
From the very first chapter, I was hooked. The mystery of what happened 11 years ago kept me flipping pages like a woman possessed. I had to know. With her. With him. With everything.
Haven, the FMC, is my kind of gal—sharp, hilarious, and so real. Her inner monologue had me laughing out loud and nodding like, yep, same girl. And Axel? Whew. That man is pure book boyfriend material. Broody, complicated, and absolutely delicious.
This isn’t just a romance—it’s a journey. Friends-to-lovers? Check. Enemies-to-friends with benefits? Double check. And somehow, Canea Cox weaves it all together with a sprinkle of true love that hits you right in the feels.
If you love slow-burn tension, witty banter, emotional depth, and characters that feel like they could walk off the page, Sweet Hate is your next obsession. I can’t believe this is her debut—I’m already counting down the days until her next book drops.

I fell in love with Haven and Axel the first time I read this book. Everything about this book from the story to the artwork was perfection, which btw Canea also draws herself?!😍
Second chance normally isn’t my vibe but Haven and Axel changed this for me, I was completely obsessed with them both. Haven is stubborn, sweet and a whole lotta sassy🤣 Axel is a sweet golden retriever but turns into an absolute caveman with that dirty mouth on him🥵 the way he’s so madly in love with Haven made me feel so giddy! He’s down so bad for his girl and his inner monologue was swoon worthy❣️
The chemistry, banter and tension was EVERYTHING. The spice, my god, the spice was frigging HAWT?! 🥵
What gets me every time is that this is Caneas debut book, everything just hit, from the text threads (and emojis), to the screaming at Alexa…. We’ve all been there. I laughed out loud so many times reading and listening to this. And of course the whole friend group - it’s absolutely one I want to join🤣
This book is the definition of a Rom-Com💖
Canea has quickly become one of my favourite authors, and I cannot wait for the rest of the books in this series💖

I actually came across this book because of one of Andis live stream on ⏰ and I’m so glad I did because what a time we had during them 🤣
having Canea in the live as well was so good, it was a wee glimpse of what we don’t usually see, as Andi performed if she had any questions with certain lines, Canea was right there to help guide her with her vision!
Andi is one of my favourite narrators, the way she performs her roles is honestly exceptional. She was the perfect Haven, every single line was delivered immaculately, she never ceases to amaze me with every audiobook she’s in. The way she embodies every character is outstanding. The sass she brings to Haven is exactly how I imagined when I first read this book. I always love hearing Andi play a sassy FMC, and with Haven that’s exactly what we get. Just brain exploding. IYKYK
Christian Fox again was the perfect choice for Axel. The way he delivers some of his lines had me laughing out loud. I love when narrators add their own twist to lines and Christian did that so many times here. I didn’t expect them to be said in such a way and they constantly took me by surprise in the best way🤣
It’s one of my favourite books I’ve read this year and I knew the audiobook was going to be great but it honestly exceeded all expectations.
The extended epilogues for the audiobook was the best thing ever and I’ve never been so frigging happy 😭🥹
I laughed, I cried and I swooned.
10/10 I’m so ready for the next book 💖👏🏽

With this being Canea Cox's debut novel, I am so glad I took a chance on this amazingly funny, second-chance rom-com.
Cox completely delivered on everything we look for in the genre, balancing a friends-with-benefits-to-more dynamic, shared regrets, hilarious banter, and fantastic spice.
Haven and Axel are instantly relatable, and second-chance romance provides an engaging way to completely unwind and live in the moment with the characters.
Haven is stubborn, sweet, and packs a whole lot of sassy attitude, while Axel is head over heels for her. Seeing the way Axel drops his guard and lets that dirty mouth of his run wild makes him completely irresistible; his inner monologue is entirely swoon-worthy, and the sheer depth of his devotion makes my heart melt.
The chemistry, banter, and tension between them are exceptional, driving the story forward effectively.
The audiobook presentation elevates the material even further. Andi Eloise performs her role exceptionally, delivering every line for Haven with immaculate precision and the ideal amount of sass.
Alongside her, Christian Fox does an excellent job bringing Axel to life, offering a vocal delivery that reframes the character and generates genuine laugh-out-loud moments.
Everything just hits right throughout the narrative, from the hilarious text threads to the moments where I literally wanted to scream at Axel.

This is the first audiobook in Canea Cox’s small-town romance series, If You Dare. I absolutely ADORED this audiobook! This is a second chance, friends-to-lovers to enemies (sort of) and back to lovers (after copious groveling) story. First of all, who doesn’t love a firefighter? And a firefighter and a baker together who were best friends in high school (and a little more) reconnecting unexpectedly in a literal fire… at a bakery. Could this meet-cute be any more perfect? I’ll answer that for you. No, no it could not. Canea Cox’s writing was just absolute perfection. The longing, the banter, the romance, the humor, the sweetness (from both the desserts and the characters), and the absolute spiciest spice—all of it was rom-com done just right. And to top it all off just like the cherry on top of one of Haven’s delicious cupcakes was the outstanding duet-style narration from Andi Eloise and Christian Fox. They absolutely shined from start to finish! Andi Eloise perfectly captured Haven, bringing through her adorably clumsy, slightly feral, generous, and sweet personality. And Christian Fox completely slayed as Axel, delivering all the fire (pun intended) and cockiness the sexy firefighter exuded in spades. Not to mention, a mouth that can go from sweet and perfect boyfriend vibes to sinfully filthy at the drop of a hat (or really any article of clothing Haven drops). I loved this audiobook from start to finish! And we even got a bonus sneak peak of the next book in the series, Sour Notes, where we were treated to the dulcet tones of Savannah Thomas and James Cassidy. I was already anxious for book two, but after that, I’m downright salivating! Do yourself a favor, and buy this audiobook now. The longer you wait, the harder you’ll kick yourself for it later.

What a way to kick off a series! This has it all! Humor, spice and a second chance romance that will have you swooning!
I listened to this story. It was narrated by Andi Eloise and Christian Fox. I was so excited to see Christian's name on this one! It's been a while since I've heard anything new from him and I was not disappointed! His narration was fabulous as usual. I'm excited to see he has some new books out! This is the first time I've listened to Andi and she was great, too. These two played off of each other perfectly.
Haven and Axel's story gave me all of the feels. These best friends have been apart for 10 years and now Haven is back in town and Axel doesn't know what to do with that information. He let her go 10 years ago to chase her dreams and had to cut her out of his life so he didn't beg her to come back. He has always loved her from afar, but now that she is back, he is going to to woo her into staying!
Haven never understood why Axel cut her out of his life. She is back, hopefully to stay, and she misses her best friend. She has a lot of confusion and his actions but still wants him in her life. I was a little confused by Haven. Whereas Axel could fully admit he was in love with Haven, Haven took longer to get to that conclusion. Even when things were hot and heavy.
I loved these two together. The story was hot and at times laugh out loud funny. I swooned hard for Axel and fell hook, line and sinker for him. I can't wait to see what the next book in the series brings! I hope we get more of these two!

Andi Eloise was absolutely amazing as Haven, stubborn, sassy, and with such a bright personality. I loved her!

The spice was incredible, and I really hope I'll be able to listen to the second audiobook in this series, which follows another couple.
Gosh, this was perfect. It's one of those audiobooks I would definitely listen to again when I'm in a reading slump. It was just that much fun!
And OMG, the bloopers at the end were absolutely hilarious. 😂 I love when audiobooks include bloopers, and these were definitely worth staying for!

And that holographic foiling on the cover 🤩 But honestly, the audiobook is amazing. I listened to a few chapters, then flipped through my book to see what illustrations accompanied the text, and then went back to the audio 😆

This book was such a good time. I have been looking forward to reading this one for a while, and let me tell you, it was 100% worth it. Andi Eloise and Christian Fox were fantastic at bringing Haven and Axel to life.
This book had me laughing almost nonstop from beginning to end. The chemistry between Haven and Axel was so much fun, but also absolute fire. I loved how they knew they were each other's person from the moment they met as kids. And even though life separated them for some time, this never changed.
The group of friends were absolutely hilarious, and I just loved the non-stop instigating between all of them. And I can't freaking wait to get m9re of Savannah Thomas and James Cassidy as Mia and Swayze in book 2.

I already loved Haven and Axel when I first read Sweet Hate, and I wanted to reread it before Sour Notes came out, so this audiobook came at the perfect time. And listening to these two was a whole different experience. Andi Eloise and Christian Fox were honestly perfect as Haven and Axel. Andi absolutely nailed Haven's sass and personality, and Christian as Axel… yeahhhh, that voice was doing things. Many, many things. Do ya get what I mean?? Do ya? 🥵🥵 Their chemistry came through so damn well too and made all the banter, tension and back and forth between Haven and Axel even better.
I also loved that this was duet narration because it just made everything feel that much more real, especially the group chats and all the chaos between the characters. Andi and Christian didn't just read Haven and Axel, they really brought them to life and somehow managed to make me love these two even more the second time around. Such a great audio, such a good excuse for a reread and absolutely a 5 star listen for me.

It was a lot of fun going back to Sweet Haven to watch Haven and Axel play truth or dare. Even though this is technically a reread, squeals and cheers were loudly heard by others in the house while listening to this audiobook as laundry was being folded.

Girl! You set yourself up for that one. None of us are mad about it. Axel growling at Havel’s antics needs to be more frequent. Dare him again.
My only critique is Haven’s accent. She is American with the accent that comes with being so. For me, what was missing was the slight accent after living in England for the past ten years. Haven using British slang with an American accent was a little odd for me. Event it was just a hint of it would make it sound more natural. Imagine watching Harry Potter with Drake Bell, Taylor Momsen, and Haley Joel Osment all filmed in Montana. All are great, but without the accent it hits different. It feels like she is missing a slight drawl to it.

The duet performance was extraordinary. Andi Eloise was magnificent as sweet, sassy Haven. Her anger, hurt, sweetness, sass, intelligence and love were clearly evident in her voice. Christian Fox was superb as grumpy, growly, alpha firefighter Axel. His love and care for her was beautiful. His gruff, sexy tone was swoon worthy. I highly recommend listening to this audiobook.

This was EVERYTHING I needed in my life right now!! If you are not hooked after chapter one, do you even have a sense of humor??!! Haven and Axel are absolutely hysterical….and SPICY! This was a really cute book. I am a fan for life. I cannot wait for the next book in the series. If you have the chance, I strongly recommend listening to the audiobook. It was an amazing duet. The narrators were out of this world and constantly had me in stitches.
