Supernova by Braxton A. Cosby is the sequel to Protostar, the first instalment in new sci-fi romance series The Star-Crossed Saga. The story starts where the first book ended and continues to tell us more about the story of Sydney, the star-child, and William, an enemy turned lover.
I liked this book even more than the first one as the story came across more clearly and because, obviously, more details on the lead characters as well as the thematic concept of the star-child were revealed. As the story unveils further, we see some old characters and some new taking us through the extraordinarily perilous life of the leading lady, Sydney.
The story progressed smoothly and I found myself instantly immersed into the plot right from the start as I was keen to know what happens next. The plot had quite a few twists and turns and they successfully managed to keep me interested in the storyline throughout the book.
The writing was good and the plot was well-structured. I liked the character arcs as well and enjoyed the story overall. I also liked where the story ended and I'm really looking forward to reading the next part.
I'd recommend this series to all Romantic Sci-Fi lovers. This is one series to look out for.
The story of two star-crossed lovers continues in this second book. It is just as exciting as previous book. William and Sydney's relation develops further but not everything is as it should be. Firstly, Sydney is having hard time dealing with going back to school and seeing Jeff again. Her behaviour is very unpredictable and there might be more to it then what meets the eye. Secondly, threat to her life is not over and there is very real imminent danger. William has vowed to protect her but will he be able to is another question entirely.
Across the galaxy and war is being waged. And hence thrill continues. Not a single boring moment in this awesome read. It kept me on my toes and second guessing everything. Ending was simply epic, I think it is a must read for sci-fic fans especially if you have read book one then you don't want to miss it. With well-developed characters, action, a little bit of mystery and a lot of drama & thrill, this book is highly entertaining. I am glad I get the chance to read it.
P.S. I received a complementary copy of this book.
This is the second installment in The Star-Crossed Saga. I must admit the book is even better than the first with more thrills and action.
Braxton effortlessly weaves the plot and continues on from where he stopped in the first installment of the series. In this story, we see Sydney change as a person as she embarks on the journey of trying to understand the meaning of being a Star-child and the powers she has. She has William to help her but her feelings for him are put to trial when she encounters Jeff, a boy at school for whom she also has some feelings. Noella stands by Sydney’s side, a faithful friend, trying to atone for all the bad she had done previously. She is also torn between being Sydney’s friend and trying to help William.
Henry, Sydney’s guardian is more accepting of the various events that have occurred and ever since his encounter with Jasmine, he seems to be seeing life in a different way. A few more characters including Arrion, William’s best friend are introduced in the story and thus it seems as though a lot of things are happening. In fact, there are a few parallel situations that are portrayed both on earth and on the planet from where William comes from. The author brings out a lot of things in this story that seem to clear any doubts that may have arisen after reading the first book.
However, this second installment of the story has some surprises of its own and ultimately raises a lot of questions thus laying the foundation for the next story. This story is a wonderful continuation to the first, where the characters have to fight for what they truly believe in as well as for the ones they love. I highly recommend it to all and if you haven’t started this series yet, I suggest you do so immediately.
Braxton Cosby has kept the action and thrill of this book at a thrilling pace. The story continues where it left off. William had made the decision to love and protect Sydney instead of killing her. Sydney learned Noella her best friend had also been a bounty hunter, sent to kill her. Now they have all bonded together. To round out the group, the onboard system known as IMPI has agreed to also help. As he evolves, learning more and more human characteristics Sydney gives him the human name "Bill". William is sure his father has sent a fleet to take them all out. What William was unaware of, was that his father and his kingdom was under attack. There are evil plots all around them. Another team has been sent to earth to get rid of all of them. One of them is William's best friend. When he disposes of the other two, will he be able to convince his friend Arrion to join him? Sydey's godfather Henry and his girlfriend, astronomer Jasmine have been brought in to the situation. You would think with all of this protection that things would be going smoothly. Sydney, who has never had an illness or sickness in her life suffers a broken bone. Then there are the mood swings. What is happening to her and will whatever it be, end up killing her? There is enough suspense within these pages to keep you turning non-stop. Can't wait to read the next one. I received a copy to facilitate my review. The opinions expressed here are my own.
As the story unveils further, we see some old characters and some new taking us through the extraordinarily perilous life of the leading lady, Sydney...
Following the events of Protostar, Sydney is advancing as a star-child – as well as advancing in her relationship with William, who has sworn to protect her. As Sydney progresses into the next stage of her evolution – Supernova – she must confront her newfound powers and emotions. With an army coming for Sydney soon, William vows to figure out Sydney’s powers. Can he understand them as well as stop the oncoming army in time? Will these star-crossed lovers live to love another day?
Opinion: When I began reading Supernova, I found that I was slightly disappointed. This sequel to Protostar did not live up to my expectations. It started off slowly and took a while to get into the action, and Sydney became even more unlikable in this book than in the first one. Her constant mood swings annoyed me and her romanticism was nonexistent. In various points of the book, I felt that William did everything he could to please Sydney, and in return she treated him horribly.
Although the beginning started off slow, when the plot began to get interesting it was easier to read. About halfway through is when the storyline truly became engaging.
I found it difficult to thoroughly enjoy the author’s writing style. There were various times where it felt as if the characters dialogue was verbose or did not flow naturally.

Another LitPick student book review Supernova is the continuation of The Star-Crossed Saga. Sydney and William's relationship is growing stronger than ever. No other bounty hunters have come after Sydney yet, so you could say that life is going great. Great, that is, until Sydney wakes up in the hospital.
She has no memory of how she got there, but William tells her that she jumped off her roof. Even if she did jump off her roof, that doesn't explain how she broke her leg, because she is supposedly nearly invincible. It is also strange that the day after she gets home, her leg is healed.
After that, things go smoothly until school starts. In school, Sydney is torn between William and her old boyfriend. Sydney struggles with her new powers as her world changes around her. Why are all of these strange events happening? Will Sydney start dating her old boyfriend again? Find out in Supernova!
Opinion: I thought Supernova was a good book full of action, suspense, and adventure. I liked that the author, Braxton A. Cosby, was able to build on the characters that he created in book one. I was able to picture them even more clearly in this book.
Cosby used vivid descriptions for both the characters and the action. Also, there was even more action in book two than there was in book one, which made it even more exciting.
A part in the book that I liked was when a huge battle happened near the end. I can't tell you any details, though, or I would spoil the ending. Something I didn't like about this book was that the story seemed to drag on in some parts. I would recommend this book to anyone who liked book one of The Star-Crossed Saga, or who enjoys science fiction and romance.

In this thrilling second installment of the Star-Crossed Saga, we pick up just where Protostar left off. Braxton Cosby continues to impress me with rich world building and intrigue. He really knows how to tell a compelling story with well-developed characters who must fight against all odds to keep the universe safe. I don't want to give anything away, but I will say that if you enjoyed Protostar, you will especially love Supernova as it unfolds more of the story between Will, Sydney, and their friends and enemies. You don't want to miss out, so grab a copy now!
The romance of Protostar’s star-crossed lovers doesn’t end where I expected. Supernova continues the building love between two lovers on Earth. The mystery of what’s to come next, the danger of young rebellion, sacrifice, and lovers’ pain from the first book of the saga continue on. There’s a relatable sense of anger and frustration with William yet still the opposite of understanding and wonder about Sydney as their relationship changes shape. I cried for William’s pain and anger and kept on reading his sacrifice, losses and hanging on with his hope until the very end. The middle of the story, without spoiling anything, had me so excited while the end made me sad for Sydney until the very last page. I’m so excited to get some answers for that last page of Supernova in Solstice and still hoping for my OTP, William and Sydney, and the fate of William’s home planet of Fabricius.
Follow the continuation of William and Sydney's story, and you'll love it :)
Great story, well-written, loved the characters, and narration was great also! I had a blast listening to both books, and am off to look for more titles by this Author! A great, fun listen :) Worth the credit! I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Sydney is struggling to understand her role as a Star-Child and her powers. She is conflicted as she returns to school and Jeff, a boy she has feelings for while trying to understand her feelings for William. Sydney is also on the second stage of becoming a Star-Child and having trouble controlling her growing powers. But there are still people hunting her down and Sydney is going to have to learn about her powers to keep ahead of those that want to kill her.
While protecting Sydney, William doesn’t know how his father is under attack and there are a couple more groups coming for them, including his friend Arrion. Learning about Noella really got me, I’m so glad that she decided to help. All the while Sydney is suffering from mood swings and more. Is this change going to kill her before those hunting her get their hands on her?
This is a great series that will suck you right into the story. I love both William and Sydney, I think they make a great couple. Although there are more people added in, I had no trouble keeping track of what was happening. Then ending left me wanting more, I’m so glad that I already have Supernova so I can start reading it right away.
What happens when a civilization that prides itself on logic and supression of emotion comes head-to-head with the incredible power of true love? This second bookby Braxton Cosby delves deeper into this question.
The tale of the "star-child" and her importance unfolds even further in this intriguing sequel. Though the dialogue seems a bit formal for the teenage protagonists, it encourages young readers to stretch themselves and their worldview. There are a couple of graphic scenes of violence so I would caution the youngest readers or those that are a bit squimish of such things. I'm not a big fan of such things but there wasnt enough of it to turn me off to the book.
This didn't have as much of the hardcore sciencey technical jargon as the first one but there was enough of it to hold even the hardest sci-fi fans attention. There was also enough story and romance to hold the attention of those not interested in sci-fi so either way, there's something for everyone without seeming disconnected.
Supernova is the second book in the Star-Crossed Saga by Braxton A. Cosby. This almost felt like a coming of age time for Sydney, and I guess in a way it was. She's developing powers that she has no control over just like her feelings and emotions. She's all over the place emotionally, and she spends a lot of the time apart from William.
The pacing was a little slow this time around in places, but I really love the story. Sydney and William's relationship is hard to predict right now. Just when you think all is well, something happens to throw a wrench in things. Star-Crossed couldn't be a more perfect name for this series.

It seems as if everyone has alternative motives through out this book. It is interesting his one minute someone is on one side and the next they have joined their enemy. This is a good book, it is written well and draws you in. You get invested in the characters and want to know what is going to happen to everyone. This book focuses on love as a major power. *I received this book for free or a discounted price in exchange for an honest unbiased review. This has not influenced my opinions on the book.
