Steve Abee began writing as an orderly at St. John's hospital in Santa Monica. He has previously published three books, King Planet, The Bus: Cosmic Ejaculations of the Daily Mind in Transit, and Great Balls of Flowers.

He is also the author of Johnny Future published by MP Publishing, teaches middle school English and lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two daughters.

I don't remember where I picked this one, but I've been carrying it around for a quarter century. Maybe APEcon? Does anybody remember APEcon? I've probably moved at least five times since buying King Planet and it would get lost in boxes for years along the way. Well, we finally ended up on the same page, so to speak, and I have to say, I really dig were Abee was coming from. I hope he's still at it. The short stories in this book illuminated the day-to-day inhabitants of an LA that is probably a memory now, but damn! In the footsteps of Fante, Bukowski, Brewer, D. Boon...
