It’s ten years earlier and the night that changed everything. When Beau Olivier signs a contract that will deliver the first millions of his future fortune, all he wants is to celebrate with a beautiful woman—and no strings attached.
He enters Cat Shoppe on the Sunset Strip looking for anyone, but when he sees the kitten-eared girl on the strip club’s main stage, he knows he won’t leave without her.
Midnight is an optional short story in the romance serial Night Fever and can be read at any point after Night Call. It contains spoilers for the previous two books. Reader discretion is advised.
I really enjoyed this novella about the first time Beau sees Lola. However, I didn't like how Beau "took" Lola's reply. It's unfortunate that this set forward some unhappy events.
After the explosive revelation from the second book, I am finally ready for more Beau Olivier. This novella bring you back to ten years earlier where Beau first met Lola and this is the moment where the whole revenge come into full swing
I love how sassy Lola is during their encounter. A complete opposite of how a pushover she is in the other books. While Beau well it is nice to see what state of mind he is during the whole encounter. He was on the verge to being a multi millionaire after a slow and long struggle. He felt like he is on top of the world and able to do what he wants. But Lola freaking Lola have to ruin that faithful day for him.
This is a super short novella. It's a retelling of events from book 2 from Beau's POV.
It's included in the set, and I am not sure it's needed to go onto book 3. It read pretty flat to me and didn't reveal any new insight into Beau or his motivations that we don't really already know: he's obsessive, controlling, feels that money can buy or excuse anything, etc
Meh. It's short, your not missing anything if you don't read this. If anything it makes the dude's obsession with her even weirder- because you see how trivial their interaction years ago really was. I'm no stripper, but I'm sure dancers get offered $ for sex all the time- especially during private dances. For some reason this guy can't deal because he was out celebrating a financial windfall, and this chick in a shiny bikini turns him down? Lol So years later he masterminds the breakup of her relationship, pays her tons of $$$, and spends extra $$ to take her out...just because she wasn't a prostitute on demand, when he was really jonesing for one.

This series has been really good. I wasn't expecting much, typical judging a book by it's cover, and put off reading it thinking it would be mostly smut. I was blown away by how much this series kept me on the edge of my seat. The audiobook version was fabulous, with the entire series being narrated by a male (Christian Fox, one of my favorite male narrators), even though the story was 3rd person POV. This review is for all 4 (and 1/2) books in the series, with special notes about book 1 and book 4.
~~What I liked~~ -The storyline was really good. The writing was well done and I was hooked right from the start. -I liked how the characters grew and changed over the course of the book. Having read so many books, I know that development of characters is one thing that makes books better for me. If the character doesn't grow or there is no development, then I am less likely to enjoy the book. -The suspense and drama of the book was also really well done. I binged this series, staying up way too late so I could see what happens. -The smut 😉. I mean, just look at the covers. The scenes were not overly abundant and pretty tasteful. Not BDSM, as tagged, though. -That cliffhanger on book 2! OMG🤯😱🤯😱😭 I did not see it coming. And I loved how book 3 ended too, it was ::chef's kiss::🤌.
~~What I didn't like~~ -Content warning and Spoiler: While the blurb does mention that Beau wants Lola for the night, it fails to mention . This did make me a little disappointed in the series as a whole, but it adds to the overall taboo-ness of the story. -The resolution seemed rushed and were is my epilogue!!
I also feel like books 1 & 2 and 3 & 4 could have been combined so this was a duet, as the books were so short as they were written.
Overall, this series was a fun surprise for me. I really enjoyed listening to the audiobook version and will be adding this one to my re-read list.
If you’re reading thins novella I figure it’s safe to assume you’ve read the proceeding books so this will give no spoilers. Christian Fox has quickly become one of my favorite narrators who was introduced to me by an also new author to me Jessica Hawkins. I truly häted Beau at the end of book two. Not the shake my head at the bullies antics dislike but in a whole ärse ‘nother level HÄTED him! This short story helped me understand how he could be so cruel and where the impetuous came from. I understand. All in all, a great necessary addition to the story as we needed to see their origins story to understand the why. Short and sweet & very informative. Cheers!
I would listen to negative reviews. I absolutely loved this series, but this short... I can’t even call it a book. It was the length of a chapter... was not worth it.
It wasn’t worth the money or the read. It didn’t add any depth to the story. Just nada. It does absolutely nothing.
I read it after I finished all the others. And it felt pointless after concluding everything. In addition to the fact that where Beau’s coming from is completely understood and covered throughout the series. It felt redundant.
It also felt like some cheap fluff to draw out the series with another $1 purchase. It took away a little magic from the series for me. It should’ve been woven in somewhere in the original series or left out completely.
Because I liked the connection between the two of the books; however I don't get the "Spoiler" warning you gave about it. Nothing gave anything away about his paying Lola for staying with him for the one million dollars as the first two books had. So what the heck was the "Spoiler" supposed to be? His fake sister? How would that spoil anything for the other books. It only told how he made his millions, and about how he met Lola, and her connections to Johnny and the club. So what the hell could have told anything about the other books?
Explicitly Yours series is a 5 star read all the way from the first page of book 1 to the last page of book 4 (5 if you read th novella)Jessica Hawkins is an Amazing author. Her Charachters come to life when you read the books.
A temptation you can't refuse . This is a must read series . I've got the books and the Audibe set. Now I can read this over or listen when I like. Yes this series is that good . What a delicious read. You won't regret it because it will have you gripping your seat from the first page
It was good to read Beau's point of view and background story. He was caught by Lola the moment her saw her but by the end of the night it had all gone south for the wrong reason. By chance Beau and Lola's paths clash ten years letter and his plan comes to play. Why did he not just remind Lola of their night at Cat Shappe rather than wasting all that money and causing them pain? I Love how Jessica wrote the books. I was hooked from the first one till the end
I loved this novella. It was nice to take a look back at where it all began for Beau and how from there things managed to get so twisted. He thought that everyone would bow to him and that everyone would be able to be bought once he made his millions and he was right. I'm sad that it's over, I left reading the novella until the end. I'll take time to read this series again and I look forward to reading more of Jessica's work.
The audio book is narrated by Christian Fox whose voice is super hot. He read at a good pace, in a way that immersed me in the story. He voiced the dialogue of the different characters very well. Did a great job and prompted me to search out other books narrated by him.
Jessica Hawkins hits it out of the park again with another instalment of this series. I'm loving the drama between Lola and Beau and and always excited for the next time I'm driving and can listen to their angsty saga again.
This just solidifies how much of an entitled, insane ASS Beau was. His audacity is astounding and the fact that he can't take NO for an answer without losing his shit and obsessing over it for a DECADE makes him such a sociopath! Like sorry, she's a not a damned prostitute! If he wanted to buy sex for a night he should've gone to a street corner instead of a dancer. There's a difference and his spoiled, forceful behavior makes him so unattractive.
Just what I needed to answer a few curious questions from book two in the series. Caught up in this series already, (and I hate series!) I will continue on to the next (#3) from here. Yes, for me, the series so far, is good....
I enjoyed getting some background on “how Beau met Lola.” But I feel like this kind of revenge is very serial killerish?! I don’t know, maybe I’m too much into true crime. But ten years is a long time to feel the need for revenge. Overall, the short story provided good insight as to what led Beau to where his current mindset is.

Nothing about this made me believe that Beau had been so emasculated and angry at Lola that he would go to all the effort of the first two books. And, if I play along about the intense rage he had after that night, he would not be waiting 10 years and THEN deciding to do something about it AFTER randomly bumping into her and NOT REMEMBERING HER NAME.

The story 'Addiction' is narrated from Beau's point of view during his first meeting with Lola. It provides deeper insight into his life at that time, helping to explain his actions and words in 'Domination' at the end. Beau's main focus has been on gaining power and wealth, having worked extremely hard for it. He constantly feels the need to be in control of the game.
This little story from when the characters first met 10 years prior should have been a free addition at the end of book 4! I just felt it was another way to get money from readers!
This prequel gives you a little more insight to Lolas and Beaus beginning. What made their relationship so chaotic and demeaning from the beginning. A good short read.
Really enjoyed this little taster; read it after reading all four books. Loved this series. And I don't usually love many series, as sadly the writing's never consistently great as in this series. Would recommend reading all the books.
Loved it. Want more of it. Its an amazing read. I live how this author writes . She pulls you into her stories with characters and all their ups and downs. Look forward to reading more of her books
Ok! Let me start with this series barely got 4 stars!! The series started off pretty good but for me went downhill from there! I barely got through this series not as great as other books by this author
This series was SO FREAKING GOOD!!! for those who don’t like weak FMCs—keep reading! What a badass! I loved everything about this, especially the revenge! The only thing I wish it had was an epilogue! I need more, PLEASE!!!
