I'm so glad I stumbled upon this book! I discovered it after trying one of Brianne's yoga videos for pelvic floor exercises. I've read it through once, but I definitely plan on referring back to it again and again. Just a few of the small tips that I've learned have already made a huge difference for me, so I am a believer in her methods. As she even says, I won't use every single tip/method she recommends, but after hearing her story about how she was at rock bottom before she decided to change her life for her own health and feeling good, I feel motivated to do the same. She understands the unique struggles women have, and more importantly, that every woman's needs and circumstances are completely different. This book can be useful for any woman looking to improve her overall health and lifestyle.
Written by a women’s health PT turned personal fitness/health instructor this book delves into “forbidden territory”, talking about female anatomy and giving a lot of good information about exercises for strengthening and relaxing pelvic floor muscles, correcting posture, etc. Dr. Grogan also goes into a lot of detail about other ways to achieve a healthier life like healthy habits when it comes to eating, enjoying life and sleeping, all while writing in an unorthodox but friendly conversational style. Her book also includes a workout plan, which is gentle but useful; a kind of fusion between yoga, common PT exercises, breathing and relaxation techniques
I've been slowly reading this since April, absorbing Dr. Bri's affirmative message for women at all stages of life. I started with her yoga videos on FemFusion Fitness and loved her gentle approach so much that I wanted to read her book for more ideas of how to build yoga, meditation, and other good things into my life. It's been a wonderful read, but I now need to embrace its teachings more fully and get moving. LOL
But seriously, if I could only recommend one book for women to read to learn more about their bodies and how to care for them, it would be this one. And I highly recommend the dozens of free videos over a range of subjects that Dr. Grogan has produced on youtube.
3.5 stars I follow Dr. Brianne Grogan's YouTube Channel FemFusion Fitness, and she mentioned her book. With a name like Lady Bits, I had to read it. While Lady Bits contains some woo-woo energy medicine information, it is a must-read.
This might have been a four-star book, but Dr. Grogan advocates vaginal (yoni) steaming! WTF?Sorry, but that nonsense is cause for deductions. Despite this, I do think that this book could be amazing companion to Dr. Jen Gunter's The Vagina Bible, However Dr. Gunter is not one for that Goop-inspired nonsense.
Aside from the steaming nonsense, Dr. Grogran addresses so many important female issues. She offers a wholistic approach to female body health issues such as autoimmune diseases, osteo issues, incontinence, and "core" (which is more than your abdominal muscles) strength to reduce the risk of organ prolapse.
Reading this book is like learning about aging gracefully from a smart older sister.or friend. After explaining all unnecessary bits about aging you may or may not have heard before (but certainly didn't remember), the author offers easy to follow tips for staying in good health and great shape.
Very Informative book that takes on sensitive women's issues in a fun but practical manner. Excellent guide for all women whether very young or young at heart!
Big fan of this lady's Facebook and Instagram feeds, discovered her online after my hysterectomy and anterior repair 4 months ago, so looking forward to getting stuck into her book especially as my pelvic floor troubles continue.
