Gambling on Love #1

The Big Gamble

Rate this book
Two years ago Brooke McCoy had it all. A successful writing career, a gorgeous fiancé and a beautiful New York penthouse apartment that overlooked Central Park. She was on top of the world. But that all came crashing down when she received a phone call that changed her life forever.

After losing her fiancé Jake to an aneurysm, Brooke was still struggling with moving on. The overwhelming feeling of emptiness only growing bigger with her still living in the home she once shared with Jake. Ready to start afresh, Brooke decides to move to Seattle away from the only family she has left for a change of scenery, hoping this will be the change she needs to finally let go of her past and start living again.

Brian Gamble is a cocky, womanizing cop from Seattle. After being burned by love once before, Brian now enjoys the sweeter things in life like blondes, redheads, and brunettes. Winning them over with his jaw droopingly good looks and charm, only to leave them in the wind the moment the condom hits the trash. But as much as he tries to deny it he wants more, and all the women in the world can’t fill the void that his ex left in his heart.

But one fateful night Brooke and Brian’s worlds collide, sparking a hot game of cat and mouse leading them to question their theories on love. Can two people broken by love, find happiness again? And what happens when love becomes the ultimate gamble?

This is the hero.

He is a cop.

He is a hot head.

He beats up bad perps because they deserve it.

He gets suspended.

He's an unrepentant manwhore.

He is no good bush whackin’ barracuda, racka-frackin’ carrot-chewin’ varmin CUSSER.

He is a manwhore. (It bears repeating.)

He lures chicks in (before he meets the h of course) with cheezy lines I can't write as I am a prude. Okay, I am a prude that reads BDSM and menage stories on occasion, but still a prude. And apparently a hypocrite.

The is the h. aka Shayla Black...

She writes dark erotica.

Her fiancee died two years ago.

She hasn't had sex for two years. How do I know. It's repeated ad nauseam. The h's best friend is a widow and managed to hunt someone down within 10 months.

She and the h live next to each other in an apartment that should be condemned as every sound apparently comes through these paper walls: from his head banging sex to her sex dreams about him to the hammer that hits her on the nail. Finger nail not nail nail. THIN WALLS! THIN WALLS!

Two stars for fun, fun fun, but too much bush whackin’ barracuda, racka-frackin’ carrot-chewin’ cursing for me and not much story.

This story a bit simpler than I expected, but it got me. Officer Brian Gamble has definitely won me over. I mean—SWOON!! I love how he is such an asshat in the beginning but such a sweetheart when the old him resurfaced. The way he just melted and went so vulnerable when it came to love, relationships, commitment and Brooke is a delightful sight. My heart just swelled so much for him. He made me turn into mush more times than I can count and fall hard. And he's not just the soft hearted guy. He's a hot as hell alpha cop who has a filthy mouth too! I mean, those scenes were HOT. *fans self* Brooke McCoy never stood a chance on this guy. And loved Brooke too. She was so broken and devastated that she believed her chance at love died right along when her fiancé passed away. But she was terribly wrong. The relationship she has with Brian is quick, but sturdy with the friendship they started with. Well, after all that fiasco in the beginning, that is. *snickers* She just has a huge heart with so much love to give without her being aware of it. And she's much stronger than she believes.

I enjoyed reading this book so much. It made me laugh, blush, swoon and ache all over with the emotions it will stir up inside of you. Needless to say, this is the perfect blend of sweetness and hotness all over. And after reading this, I'm craving to know the story of Ryder Callahan and Lucky! Way to go, M. Andrews!

I was lucky enough to receive and ARC of The Big Gamble. I loved it from the start!! Brooke is strong, independent, fierce, sexy and she isn't afraid to speak her mind. Brian in my mind, is a perfect sexy as hell Alpha. He is tender, sweet, loving, caring but yet is isn't afraid to dominate. The pull between the two of them is so strong and hot. They both try to fight the inevitable from the start, because they are both afraid to be hurt. There are a few surprises and twists that I didn't see coming, I had so many emotions run through me while reading. I can't wait for more from M. Andrews!!

I LOVED THIS BOOK! LOVED IT!!!!!

It was such a cute story and just what I needed after the last few books I had read. I d.id gigglesnort at quite a few lines

Brooke is such a sass queen and while she has things she has to work through, she is such a great female lead - so relatable in many ways.

Brian is soooo swoon worthy!

No crazy crisis points was a plus for me. If you want something light with an HEA this one is for you.

This is the debut novel by M.Andrews and I can't wait for the rest of the books in the 'Gambling on Love' series. Thank you, M. for sharing your words with me!

The Big Gamble is one of those kind of books you just fall into the pages, and before you know it you're hooked.

I ate up this book on a lazy Sunday, and it was the perfect easy weekend read.

A sweet & steamy romantic story, it has a little of everything, from humour to heartbreak, and a whole lot of heat.
Sizzling, scorching, carnal, arrest me Officer Gamble heat.

Brian & Brooke the kind of couple
that may each be a little dinged up by their pasts, so their story will definitely pluck at your heart strings, but the angst is low enough that they'll not be frayed beyond repair.

Loved this book, loved the characters & am heading straight into Lucky Strike, because I'm dying to know what did actually happen that night at the club!

Ryder? You bet your ass he did...

5 out of 5 hot stars!! Loved, loved this book! Officer Gamble is going down in my list of favorite book boyfriends. The list just keeps getting longer and longer. But I have no regrets! (; This book was so sexy! I loved Brian and Brooke. Brooke had no filter which was absolutely hilarious. Brian is a sexy, sexy cop who doesn't like girlfriends. He likes them quick and fast. He's had his heart broken and so has Brooke. These two characters find themselves again in each other. It's beautiful seeing these characters open up to life again and grow with each other. From beginning to end this book held me in its grasp. I couldn't put it down. And the sexy moments were oh so hot. Officer Gamble has a way with words *toes curling* Brooke was so much fun and feisty. The dynamic due between the two was oh so hot.
I can't wait to read Ryder's and Lucky's story next!

I have a Gamble addiction

I knew when all these great teasers came out that this book was going to be amazing and it surpassed that. The Big Gamble is a story that made me believe in love, gave me that warm feeling. Brian and Brooke are an amazing couple having both suffered heart ache in different ways left them both weary of love, but starting out as friends turns out to be the best thing they did. I truly loved this story, i counted down for the day of the release and it was worth the wait looking forward to Ryders story.

Review- I loved this book I had this book on my kindle since October and finally picked it up and finished it in a day and a half it was that good it was funny and sad and cute and Brian Gamble OMFG . Brooke moves from NYC to Seattle cause her fiance Jake died so she needed a change . And then she meets her new neighbor Brian gamble and asshole who sleeps around and is a cop . Brooke can't stand him . Brian tells his best friend Ryder about her calls her crazy bitch . I think Brian was kind of a dick in the beginning he had his heart broken by some bitch . I did love him though he has a cute little dog named Lola . Lucy , Lucky invite Booke out for a night out but on her way out she runs into Brian and he says she should apologize and then they end up kissing and she was having sex dreams about him hahaha oh god . So when he shows up to the bar he ends up knowing Brook's new friends he grew up with them she runs out but Brian comes out and says he's sorry and he would like to be friends . The next day Brooke comes by and gives Brian donuts and she meets Lola a dog who doesn't like anyone but Brian . Brooke and Brian become good friends they hang out Brooke makes dinner they falls asleep together you can tell they like each other but Brooke doesn't want to just to be another girl to him. But Lucy said she hasn't seen him this happy in a long time and its been helping Brooke's writing so one night when Brooke got really drunk she tries to have sex with him but he turns her down cause she wants her to remember and then the next morning they hook up and Brian asks her to be his girlfriend they are so cute even with there crazy sex . Brooke convinces him to take the detective exam cause she knows he can do it . Brian is working allot so they decide to go on trip to his cabin and they have a great time allot of sexy time cause they haven't been with each other in awhile Brian tells Brooke that there going to his mom's birthday which he didn't tell Brooke and she's freaking out cause she didn't bring anything to meet someone's mom they go in town to find a dress and then they are off to meet Brian's mom and family and it went great. Brian tells his mom that he's going to marry her and then Brian asks her to marry him I was sobbing at this point . Brian goes to take his detective exam and he passes . Hunter and Her dad come into town and then we find out Brian was shot I'm freaking out and crying but he went into surgery and he is going to make a full recovery and she is pregnant I so knew it . They had the cutest wedding I was crying and Brian bought a house for them and a nursery for Ella this was a cute book I loved it and the characters I can't wait until the second one .

Favorite quotes-
Finally a woman who didn't fall for the gamble charm . If I ever meet this woman , I'm going to ask for her autograph .

All right . Sweet dreams he flashes me a wink. Um... thanks . I turn to start to walk away oh , and Brook ? I hope I'm good tonight , he calls out . I stop dead in my tracks oh , fuck ! He heard me though the wall . Now I really need to crawl under a rock.

What is the matter with me ? Every time I'm around Brian I loose all function of my brain and turn into a crazy horn dog.

I cover her up with my blanket and as I do , Lola jumps up onto the bed and curls up next to Brooke you like her ,huh ? Lola lets out an agreeing bark . I like her too .

Are you insane ?
Everything I brought is either lingerie or screams I'm only wearing this so your son will fuck me later . Her breathing is deep and angry and I'm slightly afraid she going to lung at me then strangle me to death .

Love is the ultimate gamble and there are always risks , but when you love someone as much as I love Brooke , the gamble is always worth the risks .

From my blog: www.bookishhipster.blogspot.com

My Thoughts:
****4 1/2 Stars****

First off, I'd just like to congratulate M. Andrews on her novels release! This book just came out on October 27th!! Congratulations! It took me two days to read this wonderful Lyle book and now I am left waiting for book two which is due out sometime this winter!

Brain Gamble... Oh my! He was definitely a charmer that's for sure! Plus, he was a cop so that adds to the swoon factor right there! I really liked how he had a lot more to him than just his job and his looks. Brian was a very sweet, kind character as the story went on and I commend M. ANDREWS FOR CREATING SUCH A WONDERFUL MALE CHARACTER. Woah there caps lock where did you come from! Ha! Guess my keyboard agreed!

Brooke! I really liked Brooke from beginning towns throughout this novel. She had a very unique story. Brooke lost her fiancé Jake early on and the pain she carried with her was eveident on the pages. She was broken and lost without the love of her life so she decided to take a leap of faith and start over somewhere completely new! Cue Office Brian Gamble as the hot next door neighbor!

In this novel these two people find each right when they need too, to find themselves again. This book made me laugh and swoon so much! I literally cracked up on the tacos and tequila chapter! (You have no idea what I am talking about, but you will, if you read this little gem of a novel!)

This was a quick read that I didn't want to be end. M. Andrews has a solid debut on her hands! I can't wait to learn more about Lucky in the next book! If you're looking for a great read about true love and finding yourself with someone you love them this read is for you!

This was a pleasant surprise. A sweet, romantic story that didn't just end abruptly when they finally started their relationship (I've been on a Fiona Davenport/Alexa Riley bender, and they have a habit of ending as soon as they hook up and then wrapping up their future in an epilogue).

Brian and Brooke meet under circumstances that reminded me a lot of Wallbanger. Brian and a lady friend are making a little too much noise and Brooke (his neighbor) goes over half-way dressed an in a huff. They can't stand each other and tell their best friends all about it - and of course those friends turn out to all know each other. They agree to be friends, but can't fight the chemistry.

Their relationship was delightfully well-developed and it was so nice to see both of the main characters make real changes and grow individually and as a couple.

The writing was witty and had me laughing along at numerous times. I'll definitely be reading more by M. Andrews.

"If we went to the same school, I would've had a major crush on you." I give him a playful little grin over my shoulder.
"Had an eighth-grade version of you told that kid in the picture she liked him, he would've died."

5/5 hot and steamy stars for the hottest book boyfriend in the form of Officer Brian Gamble.

I mean OMG! I loved this book so much. Brooke and Brian were absolutely amazing and I more than enjoyed their story.

It starts off kinda sad, but Andrews jumps right into the story and it gets feisty pretty damn fast when Brooke bangs on Brian's door in the middle of the night yelling at him to keep the noise down. From that point on we watch as they each go from hating one another to falling head over heels in love with each other.

It was sweet and hot as hell, there were definitely some parts that made me laugh, and of course I almost cried. This book was beautifully written with plenty of ups and downs for both characters as they work through their issues together. I also liked getting the story from both Brooke and Brian's POV. It helped to gain a great perspective from both these amazing characters.

I love..love...LOVED this book so much. My two favorite parts are definitely when they got stuck on the Ferris Wheel and at the precinct. I cannot wait for the next book in the series.

Ohh this book was a pleasant surprise.

I'm not wanting give to much away, but I loved both Brian and Brooke! They both suffered in different ways but delt with the pain differently. Brian being the hot broody officer he was slept around and Brooke the fiesty hot writer avoided any form of intimacy.
Two complex damaged characters who made one whole. This is a love story about love... Just love no drama!! with not much angst or anything to drawn out either, I thoroughly enjoyed it. And to make it even better there's a tone of hysterical moments to make you bust a gut laughing and some real emotional parts that have you crying like a baby.
Also loved the secondary characters.

P.s ima counting down the days for lucky and Ryder's story because that will be fab! And also will we get a Lucy and hunter story;);) I sure can hope!!
My only complain was I wanted more lol.

This was a quick read that I thoroughly enjoyed. Maybe not everyone would be on board with fast-tracking a relationship the way Brooke and Brian did, but they made it work. They just knew they couldn't pass each other up. Needless to say, I'm glad they didn't.

I saw some similarities between this and Wallbanger , (the obnoxious neighbor, hating each other for a bit, being friends, baking goodies, and giving into temptation) but it came into its own as a romance and I just really enjoyed seeing Brooke and Brian heal old wounds and becoming better individuals and a strong couple due to each other's support. It was really refreshing!

Took a gamble on a new author!!

I was excited to read this book after all the hype on Instagram. I really wanted to like this book and was expecting more. I think the story line had potential between ALL the sex scenes. Don't get me wrong I love a hot steamy book but I felt she went over board. I am not a writer and can only imagine all the work that goes into writing but I do love to read and I think this book could be a lot better if she divulged a little more into the lives of each character in the book.

I loved this book!! When I first started it, I thought it was going to be this sad love story. M. Andrews definitely had me fooled! You think Brooke is this quiet, heart broken girl, which she may have been heartbroken, but she's super feisty. She said the funniest things, and surprised me with every turn of the page. It doesn't take much time to fall under the spell of Brian Gamble's charm. The story was super realistic which I loved. Adorable, fun, sexy read. Can't wait for the next book!
