Iron Alchemy of the Gods: Feed Your Body With the Strength and Wisdom of Valhalla

Rate this book
This book is part philosophy and part work-out guide. It has been crafted for heathens who understand the body as a key to finding a pathway to the gods. Our attitude is simple, yet radical. We are going to make no apologies for what can be attained by the human body and mind. We make no apologies for our desire of strength and our abhorrence of weakness! We make no apologies for the strength of our gods!BY FORGING A WILL AND BODY OF IRON WE MOLD OURSELVES LIKE THE GODS WHO REIGN UP HIGH. THERE ODIN WILL GREET US AT THE GATES AS WORTHY OF HIS HALLS.Why become a heathen warrior?Somewhere in the world there are men training. They are training to kill you. They are training to be better than you. To over take you when the get they chance. They have not fallen for the lie that weakness is some kind of virtue to be admired. Now the question stands... Are you prepared?Preparation begins by becoming strong. The stronger you are the harder you are to kill. As we train to become the elite warriors of our gods, we are transforming ourselves into a living and breathing rune of strength. Our rune is Uruz. Our mission is to become it with no apologies or excuses. The predator never apologizes to its prey. Like so, you shall train. For it is better to be strong than it is to be weak.Strength is to become something admired. Something godly. It is a divine gift, but not without sacrifice. Strength is difficult to obtain. But with hard work and the right orientation, you can obtain it.Now is the time to join the ranks of the gods and heroes of the past.Train for Valhalla. Be prepared for Ragnarök.

Not sure what I thought this was going to be, but I was kind of hoping for something more than what is presented. The book's is about 20% a philosophical rant about how modern culture is weak and we should exercise to counter that to go to Valhalla and a decent manual for how to work out at the gym. Since none of the Eddas or Havamal talk about becoming gym rats, the premise of it being a pagan resource is a bit of a stretch. The book is not a complete waste, as there is a meditation section on the runes that is pretty interesting I will try to incorporate that into my daily workout at least.

Nice start, but unfinished

I think the book has the core of some really interesting ideas, but never goes into them in any depth. For instance, the section on blending rune meditations into your lifting practice. As someone who works with runes, I wanted much more, and I think a rune newbie would be lost entirely.

Not much to say.
The book was really more of a book about free-weight/machine workouts cloaked in Norse-like wording.

Little real substance in terms of Norse/Celtic/Germanic Warrior philosophy.

Photography was a blend of Tattoo of the Week and My Muscles are Bigger than Yours.

Two stars for proper, although stilted English

Give it a pass--just glad it was a Kindle Unlimited.

Motivating and elevating.

A great book to read while sitting around lifting weights and contemplating the Norse vision of the cosmos. Includes some important workouts with a nice viking twist and hints of a compelling philosophy. Leave weakness for the losers. Iron, lightning, and strength are the ways of the warrior.

Protein

Heavy usage of protein is a good idea and I like the figure of grams of protein to your weight every day. I grew up in the midwestern United States so drinking a gallon of milk a day is doable! :)

Nothing but Psuedo macho drivel. The work out program is cute at best. Save your money.
