As the vampires begin to realize bagged blood isn’t giving them what they need, Kendra goes in search of a human companion. She’s been a Domme for the past thousand years, and has never had trouble finding human men who want to submit to her.

Eric is a human adrenaline junkie who spends his time hang gliding and jumping out of perfectly good airplanes when he isn’t creating video games. And he smells of sunshine and blue skies — addictive to a vampire who’s seen neither for nearly three thousand years.

Unfortunately, he’s a Dom. But he’s so full of life, and he gives her adventures when she’d forgotten how to live with joy.

As the two navigate their compatibility in bed, Eric must figure out whether he can handle living in Kendra’s world, and the vampires have to figure out whether they can deal with their third in command submitting to a human they feel is so far beneath them on the evolutionary ladder.

While Kendra and Eric work through their personal challenges, they must also fight a group of powerful supernaturals planning to enslave Eric in an effort to exploit his skills and further their own agenda.

Can Kendra and Eric battle all of this to find happiness?

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Candace Blevins writes urban fantasy, paranormal romance, epic fantasy contemporary BDSM romance, and two kick-ass motorcycle club series. She’s published more than fifty books. Candace lives with her husband of twenty-four years and their two teenaged daughters. The family’s beloved, goofy, retired racing greyhounds are usually at her side as she writes, quietly keeping her company. Or sometimes not so quietly.

Her urban fantasy series, Only Human, gives us a world where weredragons, werewolves, werelions, three different species of vampires, and a variety of other mythological beings exist.

Candace's various paranormal romance series are all sister series to the Only Human series, and give some secondary characters their happily ever after.

Her Dark(ish) Faerie Tale series gives us a close-up and personal look at Queen Mab, and her Dark Underbelly series is, as you’d expect, dark and (if you’re a little twisted) oh-so-yummy.

Her contemporary Safeword series gives us characters who happen to have some extreme kinks. Relationships can be difficult enough without throwing power exchange into the mix, and her books show characters who care enough about each other to fight to make the relationship work. Each couple in the Safeword series gives the reader a different take on the lifestyle.

Quote from the author "It's BDSM light, but it *is* actual, negotiated BDSM this time"

Seriously, I don't think Ms. Blevins uses the same measuring stick as the rest of us. Now I hang with some heavy SM people. To me, most of the edge play is normal. I didn't even realize stapling, knife play, fire play and breath play are considered heavier BDSM. What can I say? Apparently here, sounding is light BDSM. Granted for a Ms. Blevins book, there is a small amount of BDSM in here. And the intensity is a lot less than her Safeword books. Relative to other BDSM books by this author, this is BDSM lite. If you were expecting a slight flogging or maybe SIX spanks on the ass and that's too much, this book is not for you. For those who want a complex story with BDSM sensual to sadistic and politically boggling switching, this is the book for you.

The characters in this book are awesome. Kendra and Eric did appear previously in their own story, Safeword Storm Clouds. That book was unexpected in the Safeword series and honestly, I didn't like it. This book is their story revamped (no pun intended) and much better written. It belongs in the Chattanooga Supernaturals. I loved it! Kendra is still a kick ass Domme. Eric is an even sexier Dom. When the two merge, it's fantastic. Whilst Ms. Blevins is showing how the two strong dominants can submit to each other in creatively erotic ways, I'm thinking how I can be the submissive filling in their dominant sandwich.

Good lord have mercy, the BDSM and sex scenes in here are hawt. There is so much dominance in the air, I can't help but want to be on my knees. Mixing it with vampire induced orgasms, where do I sign up?

The plot of this story is a continuation with the South Carolina vampire issue. It worked well with showing how Kendra may be a sexual submissive to a human, but she's no doormat. I really liked Kendra in this book. She is vicious. Her vengeance is everything I wish I could do. Not that I'm afraid to do it and wish I could be like her. More like, given a chance in the same situation, I'd like to be given the same blank check to dole out the same exacting punishment. The violence in this story is quite high and it is so good. I loved how she tortured her enemies. She's so primal and yet it's done in an icy cold manner. Impressive. I guess I'm one of those humans who don't have issues with violence and to me, this is all perfectly just. Maybe it's the Chinese side of me coming to the surface? Or just my jaded American upbringing?

I read this book all in one sitting because I couldn't put it down. It is a nice follow up to the Dragon King. Quite different than Aaron's story and I look forward to the next one. This is a 4.5 star book. Buy it now! Highly recommended to kinky paranormal romance lovers who enjoy ultra-violence and Ms. Blevins' "lite BDSM".

So, never let it be said that Candace Blevins doesn’t keep you on your toes, never mind the edge of your seat. This most excellent series of interrelated paranormal books just keeps upping the ante, and I am totally hooked, especially after Riding the Storm. Be warned: this particular literary outing is not for the faint of heart because these vamps have nary a sparkle amongst them. Though I suppose blood and sinew does have a special glow by the light of the moon, but I digress…

As ever, Ms. Blevins takes the reader on an intense relationship journey that is not all hearts and flowers, but hard work and learning and compromise. Now take that scenario, replete with deep and compelling characters, and place it smack in the middle of a supernatural world of diverse beings and scintillating politics that put us mere humans to shame, and you have a story that is un-put-downable. This was one of those, “I’m not going to sleep until this is done” kind of books.

Its raw; very raw. Its gritty; very gritty. It pushed my limits the way most of Ms. Blevins books do, but it also pushes a reader to step out of their own comfort level and see beyond what they think they know. There is a much stronger BDSM element to this book, reminiscent of the Safeword series, but the core of the story is the supernatural world and the melding of one human into its folds. The relationship of two Dominants from opposite worlds and their one-step-forward, two-steps-back attempts to make their lives blend in a way that works for them, is further complicated by otherworldly politics and arrogant supernatural attitudes about the place of humans amongst them.

Strong female H-heroines are a hallmark of Ms. Blevins books, and Kendra is one lady you don’t want as an enemy. In something of a role twist, Kendra must be the protector and Eric the protected, though Eric displays his own brand of strength in one of the most graphic and intense scenes I’ve read…maybe more accurately, endured. It was my first “step-back-and-think” test in the book, though definitely not the last. Happily, I passed the test(s).

I am so delighted with the newness in the “feel” of this book, and the series in general. The supes aren’t new, the lore does not take any drastically original directions, but the world is magic and visceral and tangible and the characters are full of possibilities. I have not been taken on this kind of escape in a long time.

Buckle up, oh…and don’t eat before the ride!

This book was going to be a make or break book for the series for me, sadly it didn't end well. I had a hard time getting into things and not sure that I could buy into Kendra, a thousand years old vampire, could go from being a Domme to subbing for Eric, who was a human. I also had a hard time buying into how calm Eric was when he learned of vampires and how their culture was, the ways that Abbott and Kendra would have to protect him. As much as I want to keep reading this series it just isn't for me.

There is one good thing about this book - the cover. Don’t be fooled, inside it is much less pretty.

I did not read any other books by this author, and this review is for the story as a standalone.

This book started slow and quickly became boring. The author pays much attention to all the wrong kind of details. Everything in this book is explained rather than described. There was no real feeling in any of the proceedings. Even the “adrenaline junky” main character resembles an accountant in his thinking and speech.

The first consensual BDSM scene (M/f) consisted mostly of lengthy negotiations, explanations and safety checks. I agree that it is necessary in real life, but the entertainment value for me is zero. This is supposed to be a novel, not an operational manual. The F/m scene towards the end of the book was a bit better. I might have even enjoyed it if the non-consent in-between had not put me off so completely.
Non-consent is usually not a problem for me in fiction, if it is done right, but in this case it was cringe-worthy. The torture scene and subsequent slaughter of the bad guys (bordering on snuff the way the author written it, not just “extreme violence” as she diplomatically called it in the content warning) was, in my opinion, unnecessary for the story progression and quite distasteful.
When the characters kept discussing it (repeating all the gory details) several times afterwards, justifying it and praising the person responsible for the revenge killings, my opinion of the story and the author took a further dive. I can, kind of, understand how a thousand-year-old vampire (not that the character is written in a way I would believe her that old) would be desensitised enough to commit all the gruesome murders, but a human man who lived through that is unlikely to let her into his bed after a few days of reflection, much less agree to submit to her, I don’t think. His reaction to the whole ordeal is completely unnatural.

But, anyway, I did not care about anything going on in this book. The characters did not appeal to me, the world was stitched up together in a hurry and did not seem real. The book was totally confused even about its genre.
Come on, there are vampires, werewolves and other shifters, magic, extreme sports, computer games, a motorcycle club, special ops and hackers, BDSM, elements of thriller, romance, and horror, sex scenes that are as boring as the rest, and, yeah, the main character is rich and lives in a yacht. Much of it is mentioned in passing, once again explained, not shown, and does not add anything at all to the story.

I might be a bit harsh here, because I read this book right after another one where I enjoyed both the storytelling and the story, and was still basking in the afterglow. This book compares poorly on every front and did not work for me at all.

It REALLY helps if you have read some of the books in the Only Human series before you jump into this one. While the lives and mores of vampires are explained here, they can be a surprise if this is the first time you have seen the author's worldbuilding.

Kendra is an old vampire and she her monster is closer to the surface than for most vampires. She is getting jaded and withdrawn but then runs into a very vibrant, very alive, very enthusiastic human -- Eric. Half of the book is their evolving relationship -- especially challenging since Eric is a Dom, Kendra is (mostly) a Domme, and it is hard to dom someone who can rip you and the room apart. So the relationship has a rocky road. There is detailed (very detailed) negotiation for scenes.

The other half of the book involves vampire politics. This is the aspect of the book which can definitely flip some readers out. There is peril and there is torture -- torture inflicted on Eric and then torture inflicted by Kendra. Very graphically described torture. This will be past the comfort zone for many readers.

As with all of Blevins' book, the pace is measured. Which is not a bad thing (a lot of urban fantasy seems like a rush from one battle to the next). But it is something to understand.

I love the series (OK, set of series that intertwine), and I really liked this book. But I wanted to put some caveats out there.

Kendra is a vampire getting a little jaded until she meets Eric who is so full of life she is immediately attracted to him. While it's been over a thousand years since she submitted to anyone and in that case it was a vampire with more power than she had. Since then she has been a powerful Domme.
On the other hand Eric is a human adrenaline junky who looks at her and sees the Ice Princess facade she shows the world and wants to make her melt for him. Unfortunately he is strictly a Dom who has never submitted to anyone and has no intention of doing so.
And yet with these seemingly star-crossed lovers romance blooms. There are complications to overcome in their fledgling relationship and they have to weather outside challenges as well. It's a thrilling ride for these two.
There is some erotic BDSM that's sexy and loving.
There are and some very real and graphic horrors as advertised so be prepared.
In all of this because Ms. Blevins has once again shared realistic characters with depth and intensity in a realistic and thrilling world, I love this book and highly recommend it.

Kendra is a vampire who is over a millennia old and is possibly suffering from the melancholy that comes from having lived for so long. Life gets boring when you’ve done and seen it all. She meets Eric, an adventurous adrenaline junkie who is a breath of fresh air and sunshine to Kendra. Eric is drawn to her beauty and strength. However, both of them are not submissive in the least and struggle to make their relationship work. They find that Eric is put in a position of danger due to his coveted IT skills and relationship to Kendra. Kendra is responsible for Eric’s safety as her human lover who she sometimes submits to.
This was a delicious, kinky, erotic piece filled with great BDSM scenes, some torture and humiliation. (It was the evil vampires that did the torture.) The story didn’t concentrate on BDSM but it was used as a condiment to the dish.
I really enjoy Candace Blevins work and am working my way through the reading order of her three series: Only Human(Urban Fantasy), Chattanooga Supernaturals(Paranormal Romance), and Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Club(Shifters).

This story took some twists and turns I did not expect but completely enjoyed! Oh, and it had some moments of revenge that were so violent and perfect, you can’t help but cheer for Kendra as she takes care of business. Having read this series, and interconnected series, out of sequence, which was no issue, allowed me to pick up on things in this book on overall story arcs that I may have missed otherwise. Eric and Kendra connect from the start, and that should have been the first indicator that things weren’t as simple as they seem. Things are not easy when dealing with humans interacting with the paranormal world and Eric reacted accordingly on some fronts, while learning and accepting. Kendra too had to have some understanding of Eric’s thoughts and feelings that were unique to him. These two did click from their first meeting, and that kept them coming back to each other and to make things work 😊

Vampire & a Dom

What a combination, female Vampire (who's a Domme) & a male human (who's a Dom). He's an adrenaline junkie, loves anything outside & a little dangerous, who writes video games. She's the third for the Master Vampire, so she's strong, & there's something about him that draws Kendra in. Eric wants to see if he can break her icy demeanor. And so it begins.

She's too strong to submit, right? What would the rest of the group say? After spending the night together Kendra knows that she has to tell Eric what she is. No secrets.

And so it begins. This life could be very dangerous for Eric. Kendra doesn't want him for a human companion, she wants a relationship. Eric freaks out after the Bonding ritual & says he needs space.

That's the beginning. Personally, I think you should read the previous books in the Series. This way you know the main players. I'm loving this Series.

Enjoy!!

I started and stopped this book many times, it wasn't until about 45% that the story grabbed my attention finally. It was an ok read, seeing how Eric and Kendra got together. History of Kendra and there is ALOT of violence against Eric! Descriptive enough to want to skip half the pages... so be warned. Alot of editing errors (i.e. one sentence has Aaron leaving and the next sentence Aaron is talking to Eric, Kendra pushes the issue with Eric learning his "Uncle" is a werewolf but yet Ranger and Eric never discuss it again... How is his uncle a werewolf but neither Eric nor his dad is? Where is the family connection... Author needs to pay attention (or her editor) to lazy typing errors, misspelled words, extra words in sentences etc...

over all i give a 3 star the story was good just parts over the top violent.

Whichever way the wind blows

After centuries of living you could loss your zest for life. Kendra was feeing this way. Until one day a man spoke to her and she smelled sunshine. Erik had no idea his complete world would change at a simple hello. Brutal yet heartwarming book. Belvin continues to trap you in this world wanting more.

Continued on with this series after Reading THE DRAGON KING and while this moved into another part of this world, it was a interesting story and advanced this world very well. I'm glad I had the opportunity to read this and am excited to continue on with this series.

I liked Kendra and Eric's story even though she is a vampire and he is human they are equals in their life. She has been a sub and a Domme. But now she's found herself drawn to Eric who is a Dom/Sadist so she chooses to be his sub/Masochist. So she knows what is in store for her since she has had her own slaves.

Kendra and Eric's relationship is fraught with problems. He's sunshine and light. She is ice and darkness. Despite their major differences, once he learns what she really is, he continues to be drawn to her as she is to him.

Not my favorite of the series but an interesting take on how two dominants can still have a relationship.
The torture was a little OTT for me. It didn't really forward the overarching story-line of the "Only Human" series, but it had more insight about The Abbott's coterie.

This is a really complicated book, which is one of the reasons that I like it. I found lots of it exciting from the “hot sex” perspective, but it contains a lot of the same elements as an adventure story, the same way Candace’s Dragon King does. In some of the scenes towards the end, I was scared to death! OK, I’m a sissy, but she writes” scary” just as well as she writes “erotic,” among other things. This is a wonderful love story too, where you are rooting for the two of them to make it work, which wasn’t easy. As with all her books, the characters have a lot of depth and dimension, and not just the main characters either. There are secondary characters here who I hope will get their own books, because they are so interesting! That’s good writing! Note: I was given a copy of this book in exchange for a fair review. If this review seems like I think the book was wonderful, it’s because it is!

The vampire culture Candace has created in her wildly imaginative mind is harsh as well as filled with protocols and hierarchy. Some of the scenes contained in this book are brutal and described in vivid detail. Yet, the are mesmerizing to read.

Kendra and Eric's relationship is fraught with problems from the get go. He's sunshine and light. She is ice and darkness. Despite their major differences, once he learns what she really is, he continues to be drawn to her as she is to him. Add to that the fight to oust the Master Vampire of North Carolina, the drama is tense and dangerous.

I only occasionally read paranormal romance but I am completely enthralled by this series, the characters and their stories. Ms Blevins is an extremely talented wordsmith who grabs her reader's attention with well written, thoroughly entertaining books.

Read the warnings, the author means what she writes.

Personally, I loved the kink, and the vengeance. I wasn't sure how a switch relationship might work, but for these characters, it was perfect. I loved both Kendra and Eric, and I'm so happy they found a way to make it work.

Great continuation of the series, the more I see of Abbott, the more I like him.

Highly recommend this book for those who enjoy a good paranormal romance that steps outside of what you're used to seeing in a romance.

I was given an advanced review copy in exchange for an honest review. Yada yada.

DNFed about half way through because of the spoiler. I had been having a hard time connecting to the book, as the characters and their power exchange was hard for me to accept. I had almost DNFed at several points prior to the spoiler, but that was the straw that broke the camel’s back. After reading the spoiler item, I really wish I had dropped it sooner.

Good read!

I enjoyed this book even though I was cringing through some parts of it. The plot and the romance both rocked. I'm pretty sure I read the whole book in one day, it was that good. Again some parts were hard for me to read but all in all I think it worked well in this book. Thanks to the author for another good read!

I did not enjoy this story. I did enjoy many aspects of it but found it much too wordy which bored me. It was also much too violent and, while we were warned about the BDSM scenes which were quite mild, we weren't warned how absolutely horrifying the torture scenes were.

My actual review is on Amazon where I purchased it.

Very good continuation of series

I like Kendra more than I expected to like her. Her and Erik work really hard to make their relationship work. The torture Erik goes through is horrible especially for dominant man. Kendra is one ruthless killer when you mess with someone she loves.

well .... Candace did it AGAIN and then some !!!!
I'll tell you, it gets a bit of a thing for a writer who you follow (in my opinion, a much nicer word then stalk) keeps UP-ing the game and it just gets better and better !!!
and this book was a risk she took to up the game and it payed off !

The book is off the charts and then SOME !!! and it has the "CANDACE-something" added to this whole deal.
so let's break it down what she has in store for you in this book;

Fist off you have the classic story - girl meets boy, they fall for each other and they fall fast, and then the problems come, he takes a step forward and she backs up a step, then he takes a step back and she's ready to take a step forward (but Candace writes it in a much nicer way than the one I just describe - *hint, hint* who here is the author*), then the lack of trust, hurt and working to fix it and building up the trust and then the HEA in a way. Call it the easy but not so easy part.

~~
"... He was usually attracted to women who were outgoing, friendly, and full of life, but he found himself drawn to the cool sense of danger emanating from this woman..."

~~

"...She wanted to spend time with that soothing voice, those beautiful eyes, and the scent of sunshine and self-assurance and raw male mingling in a blissful, happy swirl around him..."

~~
Second off you have the urban fantasy part where she is a vampire, he's human and there is also a whole bunch of fairytale supernaturals (cause why deal with only vampires) (ROLF!!!!!) that want in on the story !!! like vampires and their ego aren't enough, but in this case, the more the merrier. and the vampire ego does get in the way ... like every couple of chapters LOL :-) (Candace probably won't let me read more of her book after this hihihih ... we'll see :-/ )

~~
"... Sometimes she felt like Cinderella, needing to be home before sunrise not because her coach would turn into a pumpkin, but because she would turn into a corpse..."

~~

"... vampire sex is full of adventure. If you live thousands of years, you have to find ways to make it interesting, or even sex becomes boring..."

~~

"... “Grab a condom from the stash on the shelf and put one on so you don’t make a mess when I feed from you.”
“My, my, my — you sure shifted into bossy mode easily enough,” he said with a playful grin.
She laughed.
“Hello? Hungry vampire? Get your dick in a condom and get your ass over here.”..."

Third you have the BDSM aspect of the story where you literary have "THE battle of the wills" ON in every chapter and let me tell you - it never gets boring. and when dealing with the BDSM aspect in the book, trust me, it can never be predicted and its never the same. it's not what you expect and Candace takes you on a journey that will leave you in state of "WTF!" to the state of "OMG!!" I mean it's two Dom's working on this thing between them and how trust is build by switching roles but DO NOT consider them switches ... cause once a Dom is always a Dom, but it's also a story about how far you are willing to go for a person you love and to give your trust to them and at the end to fight for them.

~~
"...She smiled. “But if you submit, I guarantee you an adrenaline rush.”
“And I can guarantee you mind blowing orgasms if you submit. Are you suggesting we switch? You one night and me the next?..."

~~

"... Does the idea of having to hold your hands behind your back while I kiss you turn you on? I’m trying to help you answer your question. If we’re going to do this, you’ll have to learn to trust me.” Damn, he was right..."

~~

"...she could feel him straining against the straps, unable to thrust his hips because of his restraints. His muscles writhed as he fought the restraints, and she could practically taste his frustration, excitement, and the torture of being held still when he wanted to lose control and fuck her like a wildman..."

~~

I hope I didn't get you all mushy with this last part cause let me tell you, Candance and her muse have had waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to much fun with this book, its like she was waiting to write about vampires cause out of all the supernaturals out there they are the most brutal species out there and she took that one literary and ran with it.

I hope you read vampire erotic genre before cause you will need it, but if you love Candace and her way of writing and her vicious streak, you will be right at home with a touch of "WTF".

This book is a MUSTread and you will be sorry not to read it cause when you remove all the add on's it's a story about what it takes to accept a person with all its faults and virtues and how to fight with yourself and the situations for what you want and what you deserve - what is a true relationship no matter what we are and what is happening around us.

Read it !!!! its an eye-opener !!!

Kendra and Eric’s story starts out with Kendra, who is a very old vampire, in search of a companion. She meets Eric at a bar and they hit it off. Eric is an adrenaline junkie and she falls for his love of life and his smelling of sunshine, which would give her a big rush since she can never see the sun.

What they don’t know about each other is that he is a Dom and she is a Domme, how can they make a relationship work? And as Eric learns of what she is, would he be willing to give up some of his activities if he can’t share them with her? Those are some really hard challenges for them. Add to that the fact that a council group wants Eric as basically a slave, working for them and would probably never see Kendra again. Kendra and her friends go on a mission to save Eric, but what has it cost him already?

This part of the story was so intense and I wouldn’t expect anything less from Candace Blevins. Her writing is as always spectacularly detailed. I was on pins and needles waiting to see if they could save Eric and what would happen if they did, would he want to give up being with Kendra, could he continue a relationship with her.

Another simply amazing story, I could not put it down, I think I read it in a span of two days. The hardships that Eric and Kendra had to go through, not many would survive it. But in the end if you love somebody, would you not do all that you could to keep that person alive, not matter how much of a monster it may make you look like. That was my thought when I was getting to the end of the story and that’s when I really understood Kendra. I hope you pick up this story and prepare yourself for a fast and wild ride.

Kitty's review posted at Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

I am thoroughly enjoying Candace Blevins foray into Paranormal Romance and look forward to the books that she is putting out in her new series. As she ventures into this territory and combines it with what we all love her for, she shows us a completely different side of both worlds.

But, I was a little taken aback with Riding the Storm and parts were actually difficult for me to read. Now, it could just be me and I am sure that a lot of readers will really enjoy the whole story line but, I had a really hard time with Kendra and the character that she portrayed. She confused me at times and came off as a very "hard" person. Now, I am all for strong woman who know what they want and go after it but, Kendra just gave me a vibe that, even now, I still can't understand why she didn't click with me. Just when I thought that there would be some "give" on her part, there isn't.

Now, she loves Eric and would go to the ends of the earth for what they have together but I just can't see them together as they are written. Eric is a Dom and Kendra is a Domme. BUT, I am not sure if she's a Domme because she's a Vampire and can get others to bend to her or if she is truly wired that way.
Eric submits to her out of love and respect after he falls apart about who and what she really is. After much soul searching and some realizations, he comes to terms with her being a Vampire and give her his all. He struggles with not being able to protect her and not having a family but knows that he truly
loves her and is willing to do whatever it takes to keep her in his life.

As for the story - I loved it. It was filled with action and adventures and visits with all the characters from the beginning of the series. But, I do need to warn you that there is some extreme violence in the story. Funny, that didn't bother me. And, the fact that she is crossing over the Only Human Series with the Chattanooga Supernaturals and The Rolling Thunder Motorcycle Club just makes me a very happy person. They are all intertwined with each other and all have cameo's throughout. Even though this could probably be read as a standalone, I wouldn't suggest it. First, as I said, there are crossovers from the other books but the most important reason is because you would be cheating yourself out of some wonderful books.

So, even though Kendra just didn't do it for me, I loved the book. Candace kept the story moving and, in classic Blevins style, the sex and BDSM scenes were unbelievably erotic and flowed within the story. I am looking forward to see how Kendra and Eric pull this off and I am sure that we will find out in future books but, my solution ..... I am praying that something happens and Kendra has to turn Eric. Then, they will be on a more even playing field and I could actually see them together for the long haul.

~~` ARC received from the Author in Exchange for a honest review.~~

If I had the chance to hug Ms Blevins, I'd be all about the hugging cuz I loves her face!. I am forever happy that I started reading her books, this one just reaffirms my adoration for her and her style of writing.

Being honest Eric at first annoyed me to know end...not many Vampires would have taken the care or concern that Kendra did. He definitely warmed me up to him later on in the book. I understood his want of the "normal" life and held back somewhat and stayed cautious. I also understood his need to want to take care of his woman. Many a men feel the same way.

Kendra loved her and her personality, strong and confident in her ability but not up in your face with it nor did she gloat about it. Her inner struggle with her own submission is a fight I think a lot of women fight. The want to give up but the need not to look weak vies against one another.

The way the Candace wrote the power exchange scenes were pretty awesome loved them. I'm really not into the whole Fem Dom thing and usually stay away from the genre, but this was nicely brought out and explored.
Ok so I guess depending on your own views towards BDSM.. you will find this light or heavy... I guess I'm a bit in between. Laughs. Some parts for me were more intense than others.

I dont want to give anything away...see, some of the scenes had me re-reading, and thinking oh my damn, damn. The whole story-line just rocked added with the remarkable character personalities, and the some visits from previous characters just made it that much more fun. Candace blended a bit of mystery, some danger, some sex, friendship, revenge and loyalty and gave you a story that will be hard to put down.

If you've not read any of Ms. Blevins books, you dont know what you're missing. I recommend this as well as any of the rest of her wonderful stories. Thank you Candace.
