That would have been unnerving enough, but the shape of the thing convinced me it moved with a purpose. What I saw, just for a moment, was a dragon. Born of lightning and fire, it flew into the air, writhed in the pleasure of its freedom, and screamed in ecstasy as it flew toward me 10,158 miles. Incredible thunderstorms, raging forest fires, dense smoke, hail, sleet, cops, a half-a-dozen paramedics, bears, and even a dragon or two you know the usual stuff.Ride the Alaskan Highway all the way there and back again. It's 4365 miles each way, Dallas to Fairbanks
Entertaining account of the author's motorcycle ride from Dallas, TX to Alaska and back. As with his previous books, reality is mixed with a bit of fantasy. Another book good for a quiet interlude on a cold winter evening, sitting in an easy chair with a cup of hot chocolate.
Now this is a man I'd like to meet...despite the longing he gives me for travel. His stories always leave me wanting more. I own 4 of his books. They evoke laughter and longing...and a desire to hear the stories he has left untold. Highly recommended for those that want to escape but can't.
