3 books6 followersI've always dreamed of writing teen and young adult fiction—it just took me a little while to realize I could actually do it. The idea for Accidental Evolution first sparked over ten years ago. I've always been fascinated by stories about superpowers, but I often found myself wanting more—wanting to understand why powers develop in the first place. That question stuck with me.
It wasn’t until the 2020 lockdown that I finally sat down to write. That strange, still moment in time gave me the final push to create Viral, the first book in the Accidental Evolution series. At the heart of the series is a concept I love: that special abilities are tied to each character’s deepest insecurities or strongest desires.
One day, my aspiration is to write horror/thriller type books...
A bit about me: I grew up in England as one of seven boys—yes, all boys! We moved around quite a bit when I was younger, but I’ve now settled in a small market town in the Midlands. I’m an avid reader and will devour almost anything, though my favorites are stories about people with powers (obviously), as well as science fiction and crime thrillers. When I’m not writing or reading, I’m usually out in the countryside walking my cocker spaniel, Cora.
I hope you enjoy these stories as much as I’ve loved writing them.

Firstly, I want to start this review by saying that I wrote the book.
Secondly, I loved it. Here's why.
When I wrote Viral, the first book in the Accidental Evolution series, I always had a clear path I wanted to follow. I wanted it to feel dystopian, but set within a recognisable, current world. I took inspiration from my love of slightly dystopian, horror-esque takes on the world; The Walking Dead and I Am Legend, and mixed that with the things I've always loved about X-Men and The Darkest Minds and Michael Grant's Gone series: people discovering extraordinary abilities and having to figure out what that means for them.
I then wrote Impressions, which took the series in a very different direction. It's more of a conspiracy thriller, with inspiration from things like One of Us Is Lying, Gossip Girl and I Know What You Did Last Summer.
And then there's Ghost.
Ghost was born from my love of psychological thrillers and serial-killer stories. It's darker, more unsettling and, I think, very different from the first two books.
And that was always the plan.
One of the things I wanted to achieve with Accidental Evolution was to create a coherent series where each book tells a very different story, while still following the same characters, their relationships and their struggles. At its heart, the series has always been about what it means to be different, and the right to be human in a world that fears you simply because you're not like everyone else.
Looking back at the three books now, I'm genuinely proud of what I've created. This series has been a passion project of mine for so long, and seeing the story develop from Viral through Impressions and finally to Ghost has been an incredible experience.
I really hope you enjoy the series. If you've read Ghost, or any of the Accidental Evolution books, I'd genuinely love to hear what you thought.

As the murders continue and the pressure mounts, they begin to realize they may have more enemies than they're equipped to handle. What follows is an action-packed journey to uncover who is behind the killings and why.
There was so much I loved about this book. I've really enjoyed seeing these characters evolve over the last three stories, and Ghost takes that evolution even further. It weaves a complex, creative web of characters and motives that will have you questioning everyone and doubting everything, with twists you won't see coming.
By the end, you'll have encountered new faces, old faces, and lots of ghosts. But which of them can you trust? We all have ghosts. Some are invisible. Some are standing right in front of us. Some are our own, living within us.
