Lethal Lovers: Horrifying True Australian Crimes of Passion

Rate this book
Your lover is the one person who should have your back, right? But as the Australian crime stats show, you’re still more likely to be stabbed there by someone close to you than by any random stranger on the street. In Lethal Lovers, you’ll find many chilling true-life stories of what can happen when love goes wrong – from the mad scientist who chopped his wife into eighty pieces and flushed her down the loo, to the teenage Romeo with the murderous case of unrequited passion. Some of these crimes were driven by betrayal, jealousy, greed, revenge or sheer insanity. Some stemmed from spur-of-the-moment rages. Others were carefully planned, cold-hearted acts of violence. All show that sometimes a loved one can be the most lethal of all…

This book provided a pathway throughout the history of some of Australia’s most horrific crimes. As an interested reader of crime books I found the stories very captivating and found myself wanting to discuss them at every point I could, with the people around me. This book provided an opportunity to explore a vast amount of crimes throughout history, rather than just focusing on one story. Overall I think it’s a great read for people who want to learn about Australia’s crime history without delving into too much detail.

2.5 stars. I felt as though many of the crimes listed in this book were too old to be both interesting and definitely accurate.
The modern crimes were fairly interesting but there were many typos and awkward editing choices that made it difficult to truly enjoy.
However, if you are looking for quick blurbs on famous crimes of passion in Australia, this book will probably be good for you.

An interesting true crime read focusing on a vast range of Australian crime cases. Fascinating insights and well researched highly recommend for anyone interested in Australian true crime and just how the closest people to the victims are often the perpetrators of their murders.⭐⭐⭐⭐ #victoriaheywood #truecrime #goodreads #getlitsy #thestorygraph #tea_sipping_bookworm #bookqueen #bookstagram #fivemilepress

Popsugar 2018 Reading Challenge - read a true crime book.
This is a book of Australian true crime stories. Not my favourite kind of reading. Makes me glad I live in a nice country town far away from the maddening crowds!
