Rate this book
When Bastien Toussaint vanishes, his wife Chloe knows only one Something very bad must have happened to keep him away from her. She’s determined to find him, and she does, in the catacombs of Paris. There’s only one problem. He insists he doesn’t know her, which would be bad enough, but he’s decided to hold her as a hostage. Nothing she can say or do will get him to recognize her, and he’s become like the Bastien she first knew—dangerous and deadly--but she’s afraid if she escapes, she’ll never see him again.

Jean-Marc has no idea who the woman is who foolishly insists he’s her husband. His current mission is too important to jeopardize, but he needs to find out who and what she is before he can either let her go or dispose of her.

As he drags her through the French countryside, the shores of Lake Como, and the arid Spanish desert, Bastien finds himself inexplicably drawn to her. He can’t afford any distractions, but he can’t let her go either. He has a Nobel Peace Prize winner to get rid of, and Chloe provides him with much needed cover. When the job is done he can let her go and forget all about her.

Can’t he?

From the catacombs of Paris to the busy streets of London, Icebound revisits Chloe and Bastien from Black Ice, once more enmeshed in danger and murder in this sizzling tale of suspense and romance.

When she’s not traveling, she’s at home in Northern Vermont with her luscious husband of thirty-six years, an empty nest, three cats, four sewing machines, and one Springer Spaniel, and when she’s not working she’s watching movies, listening to rock and roll (preferably Japanese) and spending far too much time quilting.

Anne Stuart also writes as Kristina Douglas.

This series was a favorite of mine when it first came out. So when I saw a new book was heading our way, I was excited. Sadly, I was underwhelmed while reading this one. I felt bored, not sure why, there was a lot of action going on. Maybe because it's been so long, maybe because Bastien seemed to be a different person and it pissed me off, much like Chloe felt. You had to give it to her for hanging on there with everything that was going on. She knew she was right, but couldn't seem to get anyone else to believe her, including Bastien.

It was nice to see the threat is now dealt with and they won't have to worry about it any longer.

It's been a while since I read Anne Stuart's romantic suspense. I missed her ruthless, almost villainous, men and vulnerable, but strong women. This time, she returns to the couple that started her Ice/Fire series, Bastien and Chloe from Black Ice. But didn't they already find their HEA, you say? Indeed. But the author found a way to put them back to square one using not-quite-amnesia scheme - it was kind of preposterous, but then again, these books have always been over the top bond-esque. I also felt the ending was rushed and open-ended in regards to the dastardly villain... wont' be surprised if he returns in the next book (maybe as a anti-hero?). Nevertheless, I enjoyed revisiting the familiar characters twenty years later. I hope we'll see more from the Committee and friends in the near future.

Decent story

The story was good but there were a few continuity mistakes that briefly took me out of the story (in previous books, Sylvie was the oldest child, and Swede was the youngest child) (Mahmoud and Dylan would be at least mid to late 20s but were referred to as children).
