After three work stoppages in the past 20 years, Keith F. Shovlin had enough! He loves watching hockey, and has his entire life, but in 2013, he had to take some sort of stand. Over the next few weeks of the aborted NHL 2013 campaign, he commented on the season that should have been as well as other insights into the NHL and it's history.
Keith Shovlin worked for newspapers for 7 years in high school and college. His writings, both news and opinion, have appeared in the New York Times and Washington Post. After hundreds of news, sports and feature stories, he decided to step into the world of fiction. Polk's Soliloquy is his first novel with more to come in the form of the Millennial Row series. The first novella of Millennial Row, Life's Penance, is now available.
Just a collection of blog posts that don't work well meshed together as a book. If read online while the lockout happened this would be better, but not in this format.
Not terribly interesting and probably better read as a blog in the moment. The premise is actually a little strange as the author decides to write about hockey while boycotting the NHL for the work stoppage the previous year. Doesn’t seem very committed. Should have watched a different league or another sport.
