2.75⭐️ so i saw this book been promoted on tiktok. mafia, yearning, a pathetic obsessed man=sign me the fuck up. i’m guessing this author is new and the way she wrote this man was really good. i loved his words and how he acted around amara. the yearning and the obsession was written so good. i also loved how amara did put up a fight with matteo. the ending had me in shock and the cliffhanger like girllll.
BUT saying all of this im left confused and this is why. there’s absolutely no world building, no character descriptions, no like deep plot, yes the ending was a huge cliffhanger. its annoying. like they entered a gala. absolutely nothing about the design. she entered his bedroom for the first time, no description on the bedroom. etc, etc. just absolutely nothing and im a BIG visual person while reading books. and i have no idea what this mmc looks like or the fmc expect from the fact she’s got green eyes and wears glasses? nothing about her hair, her body, little things about her. the mmc, im blind with absolutely nothing descriptive on him expect his mangled hand. like yes im dyslexic but im like 99% sure we got no full description on either characters expect from the fmc been called beautiful and the mmc been called handsome. so that was highly annoying i can’t lie. wish we had a little more background story to both the fmc and mmc too. not hating by the way, i understand this book isn’t popular yet but it’s just a big thing i noticed throughout the book and i thought it needs mentioning.
anyways i will probably pick up the second book eventually when that comes out.
I enjoyed this for the most part, but Matteo just got on my nerves fr😭 this man is a literal BILLIONAIRE and he couldn’t find a way to let her dance professionally while still keeping her safe? PLEASE
A lot of things pissed me off while reading this. Not only is the MMC a total, desperate piece of shit, but the fact that at the end she realized she loves him made me even more sick. Like, who the fuck does he think he is, controlling every aspect of Amara's life just because he paid her father's debt and then she falls for him because he gives her a little freedom? Don't get me wrong, I love a good obsessive and controlling man, but this was way overboard. Not to mention, the writing style was plain and repetitive. I'm not one to usually rate under three stars, but this book was not it. It feels like the author's first time writing. The storyline was borderline boring, with no real plot just a cliffhanger.

Matteo is one of the most obsessed MMCs I’ve ever read, but what made the book for me was that Amara never just gives in. She fights him over the smallest things, argues with him constantly, and keeps holding onto the life she actually wants.
And Matteo… this man is yearning. For someone who runs half the criminal world, he spends an embarrassing amount of time wanting her to choose him. He’s terrifying, possessive, completely delusional, yet somehow I couldn’t wait for every chapter from his POV because you could feel how desperate he was for her.
The tension never really lets up, and I kept telling myself “just one more chapter” until I was suddenly way past my bedtime.
You know there are different kinds of obsessions and I was excited for this book, but his obsession is so weird. He doesn't let her dance, doesn't let her dress like she wants, gives her breakfast with his hand??? This is not what I asked for. It could have been so much better, but he's just a weirdo. The way she wanted to be with Adrian was actually so sad.
I usually like these type of books, but I just really hate his attitude where he's literally controlling her life, instead of being just obsessed and giving her everything she deserves and keeping her safe he was doing the opposite.
