She made him a star. He'll never forgive her for it.
Knox Hartley cares about one thing: the music. As lead guitarist for Jack Wilder — the best in the business, and everybody knows it — the songs were always supposed to be enough on their own. Then Madeleine Price got hold of them. For ten years she’s been the band’s publicist: brilliant, untouchable, and the reason they’re everywhere — packaging the music, selling it, turning something honest into product with her fingerprints on every platinum record.
To Knox, she took the one thing that was pure and handed it to the machine. He resents all of it. He resents her most of all. What Knox doesn’t know is what it cost her to become the woman he can’t stand.
Madeleine built herself from nothing — reinvented a poor girl from nowhere into the sharpest publicist in country music, one flawless version of herself at a time, long before she ever met Jack and the band. The polish is armor. The control is survival. And the one thing she can’t afford is for anyone to see the girl underneath — least of all the man who’s spent a decade looking at her like she’s the enemy.
Now they’re both stuck at the most public wedding of the year: a monthlong Christmas celebration at Crescent Moon Ranch, where the bride keeps seating them together and there’s nowhere to hide from the one person who gets under her skin like no one else.
But a Montana December has a way of wearing down the oldest defenses. Beneath ten years of sharp words and slammed doors, Knox starts to catch glimpses of who Madeleine really is — and a secret she’s guarded since long before the band. She isn’t the woman he decided she was. She never was. And the more he sees, the more he wants the one person he swore he’d never forgive.
Enemies. Opposites. The worst possible person to want.
And the last person either of them planned to fall for.
A closed-door enemies-to-lovers romance. Forced proximity, a heroine with a secret, and ten years of simmering resentment that was never really hate.
Tess Thompson Romance...hometowns and heartstrings.
Tess Thompson is the USA Today Bestselling and award-winning author of contemporary and historical Romantic Women’s Fiction with over 60 published titles. When asked to describe her books, she could never figure out what to say that would perfectly sum them up until she landed on, Hometowns and Heartstrings.
She’s married to her prince, Best Husband Ever, and is the mother of their blended family of four kids and five cats. Best Husband Ever is seventeen months younger, which qualifies Tess as a Cougar, a title she wears proudly. Her Bonus Sons are young adults with pretty hair and big brains like their dad. Daughters, better known as Princess One and Two, are teenagers who make their mama proud because they’re kind. They’re also smart, but a mother shouldn’t brag.
Tess loves lazy afternoons watching football, hanging out on the back patio with Best Husband Ever, reading in bed, binge-watching television series, red wine, strong coffee and walks on crisp autumn days. She laughs a little too loudly, never knows what to make for dinner, looks ridiculous kickboxing in an attempt to combat her muffin top, and always complains about the rain even though she chose to live in Seattle.
She’s proud to have grown up in a small town like the ones in her novels. After graduating from the University of Southern California Drama School, she had hopes of becoming an actress but was called instead to writing fiction. She’s grateful to spend most days in her office matchmaking her characters while her favorite cat Mittens (shhh…don’t tell the others) sleeps on the desk.
She adores hearing from readers, so don’t hesitate to say hello or sign up for her newsletter: http://tesswrites.com/. You’ll receive an ebook copy of her novella, The Santa Trial, for your efforts.
Ok I loved the Crescent Moon Series and so happy that they are back in the picture. Ivy and Jack, country singers super stars found each other in the prequel and now it’s wedding time. A month in the Montana mountain side at Crescent Moon Ranch with their closest friends and family. Set in the month of December with Christmas and wedding activities planned till the full moon on Christmas Eve. Knox is in Jack’s band as lead guitarist, he thinks it’s a bit much a whole month but he can’t say no to Ivy. Madeline is the PR person for Jack’s band and Ivy is her BBF, of course she is happy for Ivy and Jack, but a month around Knox is pushing all her buttons. And somehow they seem to always be partner together, a bit of Ivy matchmaking? Of course there is time to reflect on the past and how they have gotten where they are, truths are revealed. Now everything that they thought of the other isn’t quite the real person they saw. Can they come to a truce? Or will it lead to their HEA? The author has already matched others in the band, but life isn’t easy and there are obstacles to overcome. I can’t wait to read more. I was given this ARC by the author, all opinions expressed are truly my own.
It has been awhile since I have read a book by author Tess Thompson and now I don't remember why I waited so long! This book gives the reader all the feels, they laugh, cry, yell and even curse at both the author and the characters! I loved the location (although maybe the ranch more so than the state of Montana). The author brings the reader Christmas, romance, snow and laughs - the reader can't ask for anything more!!
OMG!! Every Tess book I read I think they can't be any better and then the next one comes out and I can't put it down!! Loved the characters and story!!! Thank you so very much Tess!!!
Author Tess Thompson is brilliant. As usual. A delightful prequel and then four interconnected heartwarming stories all taking place during the month before Jack and Ivy’s wedding. And – big, big bonus!! – all taking place at Crescent Moon Ranch. If you’ve already been to Crescent Moon Ranch (and if not, why not?) you know what a magical place it is and how much fun you can have with the Moon family. Getting to catch up with family members, enjoy the varied activities they offer their guests along with the delicious food and beautiful surroundings is a treat, making the Cowboy Christmas at Crescent Moon Ranch series even warmer and richer. And then there are the new people . . .
Rebel Moon is book one after the prequel that brought Jack and Ivy together, and could be subtitled “Spend Some Time With Two Grumpy Enemies and See What Happens.” Madeleine Price is a fancy woman, presenting luxury and glamour. Hard-edged, strong-willed, determined, and she’s been wildly successful at marketing the band and bringing them the notice – and revenue – they deserve. Knox Hartley is the band’s lead guitarist and songwriter and a purist. He thinks all the publicity is phony and the music should stand on its own. It’s cheap and demeaning to be packaged and sold like that. And it’s all Madeleine’s fault. He’s spent ten years being rude and disdainful and she’s matched him barb for barb. Neither is what they seem on the surface, but with the way they communicate they’ll never get below surface-level.
Until Ivy with her romantic little matchmaking heart plans the Wedding Celebration Month to end all wedding celebration months: mandatory attendance at group events, meals togethers, trips to town – and strategic cabin assignments. All set amid the beauty and wonder of Montana’s Crescent Moon Ranch with its beautiful skies, crisp weather and sparkling snow.
Forced proximity is the name of the game. Knox and Madeleine are shoulder-to-shoulder from day one: at the dinner table, sitting around the campfire, taking sleigh ride, sledding, in snowball fights and craft contests. His cabin window looks right into hers. Everywhere and everything. And they don’t like it.
Well, they don’t like it at first, anyway. But then, even though outside the snow is still up to their eyeballs, the ice is beginning to thaw. They both love Jack and Ivy and would never do anything to spoil their wedding and this time leading up to it, but that’s not all it is. They start sharing, not always in a friendly way, but sharing. Opinions, memories, childhoods. Confidences and confessions. Maybe as the saying goes love and hate are pretty close emotions, and maybe some of that dislike has been masking some attraction. A pretty unwelcome revelation for both of them at first, but also becoming increasing undeniable.
Rebel Moon takes a close look at two people who have spent their lives hiding their pasts and what’s underneath the face they show to the public, and who are just starting to realize how tired they are of doing that – and how maybe they don’t have to keep doing that, at least not with everybody.
I received an advance copy of this book from the author as part of her Tessers Review Crewsters review team. It’s warm and funny, heartbreaking and heartwarming, spicy and sexy (author Thompson is the absolute best at closed door romance that still portrays all the longing and desire), with a new captivating activity and mouthwatering meal every day, time spent with the still as lovable and interesting as ever Moon family and a few scenes that are downright scary. Rebel Moon focuses on Knox and Madeleine but gives us larger and larger glimpses at what all the other characters are up to, and I can’t wait for the rest of the books in this wonderful series. I voluntarily leave this review; all opinions are my own.
When I finished this book, I immediately wanted to read the next one. This series is going to be great. Knox despises Madeline. Yes, she took the band to stardom, but Jack and the band are so good, they could have made it on their own. Now they are a carefully packaged product, and Madeline wants to manage everything they do. He takes every opportunity to knock her down. Madeline knows she's the best manager they could have and Knox is talented enough to make it worth her while to put with him. Ivy knows that the animosity between Madeline and Knox is a reflection of the passion they could have in a relationship. A month together will reveal who is right. I loved this story of two stubborn, hurting people who slowly find that the risk of opening up themselves and letting another person see the real you is worth the risk. Well written, there were several scenes that brought me to tears. We also get glimpses of other relationships within the band that tease us about stories ahead. And if you've read the original Cresent Moon Ranch series, it's fun to see how those characters have grown and come into their own. I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest opinion. Tess Thompson creates complete and realistic worlds, no matter what era and location she writes about.
Rebel Moon (Cowboy Christmas at Crescent Moon Ranch Book 1)
By: Tess Thompson
5 Stars
Well, if you read the prequel, then you know about the wedding. Jack, Ivy, his band, and a few others gathered at Cresent Moon Ranch to celebrate an entire month of wedding things. This is when we we meet Knox and Madeleine. A band member and the PR exec. Also enemies, been at each other for years. Now this magical month in Montana is working its magic on them. All of them, really. With a little help from, Ivy. Haha.
This was such an amazing story. I loved Madeleine and the sensitivity of who she is and the growth she shows. Knox, a young boy driven to follow his dreams, with a friends help. As an adult, a big star scared to see what's right in front of him, until he does. These two made a crazy wild couple, but I loved them. I have one word to add that I just about cried about when I read it. SLURFPIG. This was such a great blend of some old and some new and I adored this story so much. I can't wait to read more.
Two famous country singers, Ivy James & Jack Wilder, are getting married and have decided to invite all their closest friends, family & band members to Crescent Moon Ranch in Montana for a month long wedding celebration. My understanding is that all the books in the series will take place at the same time - this magical month of December - but each one will focus on one couple. This first book is Madeleine & Knox’s story. Madeleine is Ivy’s best friend, as well as Jack Wilder’s bands PR person. Knox is Jack’s lead guitarist. And in the 10 years since the band started and hit it big, Knox & Madeleine have pretty much hated & argued with each other constantly. But Ivy thinks there might be something more than hate that drives these two, and she decides to try her hand at matchmaking by assigning them cabins next to each other & pairing them up for all the activities. Will she succeed? I think we all know the answer, but how they get together makes for a truly wonderful story.
Rebel Moon is Madeleine and Knox’s entertaining, enemies to lovers story. It’s book two in the Cowboy Christmas at Crescent Moon Ranch Series and we are on the ranch for country singers Ivy James & Jack Wilder’s wedding. I loved everything about this book from the magical month of entertainment leading up to the wedding to the sarcastic banter Knox and Madeleine share. Madeleine is Ivy ‘s best friend and Jack’s band PR person and Knox is lead guitarist with the band so they know each other well, they just don’t get on very well and now their neighbour’s for the next month…….. So what happens when they are paired up for activities for the next month will these enemies become friends and even lovers. I fell hard and fast for Knox and I want Madeleine as my new buddy but what took this book to the next level was the fun and games and the magical atmosphere leading up to the wedding. This is a well written, entertaining read with a couple I found myself cheering on.
Rebel Moon is a fantastic read. This is book 1 in the Cowboy Christmas at Crescent Moon Ranch and I'm here for it. If you read the prequel then you know this surrounds Jack and Ivy's wedding month. This is Knox and Madeline's book. Knox is a talented musician in Jack's band. Madeline is the bands publicist, Ivy's best friend and hiding behind perfection. Knox and Madeline will give you good bicker and banter as they are constantly thrown together. What comes off as hate is anything but. Madeline hides so much of herself until the walls finally fall. You are in for a treat as the bride and groom play a little matchmaking throughout this one month stay with the Moon family. I could not get enough of this one. I loved every moment of Knox and Madeline. I cannot wait for the next couple to fall. Go one click this today.
I'm loving the Cowboy Christmas on Crescent Moon Ranch series! Ivy and Jack have their family and friends at Crescent Moon Ranch for the month of December for their wedding. Knox and Madeleine have never gotten along, but Ivy thinks if they spend time together and give each other a chance they'll be a great match. They deserve happiness. I loved Rebel Moon! It grabbed me from the start and I couldn't put it down! It was a very emotional story where two people discover things about their self and each other that leads to a great relationship! I loved getting a glimpse of the original Crescent Moon Ranch characters! It was very entertaining! Thank you Tess for a beautiful love story! I can't wait for the next book!
This author has nailed it again - I find I can't put down her books once I start reading! This is a story that has complex characters with gripping backgrounds that made them the stars that they are. I wasn't sure I would like Madeleine or Knox at first but as the layers came off exposing the real person I fell in love with them. The lyrics to the songs pull everything together and I wish I could hear them being played and sung. I loved living vicariously (for a brief moment in time) in the amazing location this series is set in. This is a must read - grab your tissues because you'll need them in places.
Rebel Moon takes us to Montana for a month-long wedding celebration with Ivy and Jack. Knox and Madeline have been sworn enemies for ten years. However Ivy has paired them together for each and every activity and meal and the magic has started. This is Knox and Madeline's story and it's a doozy! Tess Thompson created the perfect December, and love is in the air.... everywhere! I absolutely loved this story. It was fun to imagine myself at Crescent Moon Ranch with all the band members celebrating Ivy and Jack. I loved reading about all the food and drinks along with the fire pit and sleigh rides. There was never a dull moment. Join the fun and pick up this wonderful book!
This is the fist book in a new series. This book tells the tale of Know and Madeline. Both grew up with nothing and worked hard to get where they are. They both share a love of music and support to Jack's band. Little did they know just how much in common they had until Knox learned more of Madeline's story while they were on the Moon Ranch for Jack and Ivy's wedding. Ivy has been playing match maker. This story has twists and lays out the thoughts running threw the characters heads while they learn more about each other. This is a great start to this series! Can't wait for the next book drop.
Thank you to the Publisher for a chance to read this book. My opinions are my own.
This is the second book in the series, which I believe is a spin off from the stories about the Moon family. I haven't read those book so all of the characters are new to me, and while this is a standalone story, the fact that there are so many characters from a previous series didn't confuse me at times. Perhaps a character list would have been handy for me. However, this is a really enjoyable book with some great characters, both main and side characters, who I assume will get their own stories in the future. I liked that both Knox and Madeleine suffer under the weight of first impressions and have to learn to let me go is they are going to have any future together.
I am absolutely ready to book a flight to Montana for the month of December! This book fully immerses you into a Montana Ranch during the December season, sleigh rides, fire pits, horse riding in the snow, friends, family, as we are all gathered together for the wedding Ivy and Jack. This book is the story of Madeleine and Knox, who on the surface, have nothing but distain for each other, until they are partnered up for every activity to the month of December and realize they have more in common than they thought. These people already feel like family and I am along for the ride!
This series is sure to be a hit! The story of Knox and Madeleine was a perfect start, aside from the prequel, to this series. Set at Crescent Moon Ranch in Montana, this group of friends, family and band mates comes together for the wedding of Ivy and Jack. Thrown together by matchmaker Ivy, Madeleine and Knox realize they have more in common than reasons to dislike each other. I loved the setting, the storyline, the characters and the country music background. Can't wait for the next book in the series!
Rebel Moon is set around the wedding of Jack and Ivy. It's for the entire month of December at the Crescent Moon Ranch. (Tess has a whole series about the Moon boys so check those out as well). However, not everyone in the wedding party WANTS to spend the entire month at the ranch. Madeline and Knox are quite opposites( that's what they think)and tend to argue about everything but Ivy pairs them together for all the pre-wedding events. They discover that they are more alike than they thought. Can they put the past behind them and move forward?
This is going to be such a great series, I loved this story. I loved the connecting series; the characters I read about before are also present in this story as they travel to Crescent Moon Ranch for a month-long wedding celebration for Ivy and Jack. Ivy is a bit of a matchmaker, so she has Knox and Madeline together for everything even though they appear to be enemies. But are they really? The tension is perfect, the chemistry is sizzling and the storyline is such that made me feel like the characters are real and I am so excited for the next book.

This is a new-to-me author. This is the first book in the Cowboy Christmas at Crescent Moon Ranch series. Thank you to the author Tess Thompson and 1852 Media for an advanced copy Lillian - @lillianbookreviews on instagram
I don't normally enjoy enemies to lovers because they can get really mean and vengeful. This is NOT that at all!!!! Madeline takes Knox's anger and cutting remarks because she doesn't think she deserves any better but also because she doesn't want to be known for who she truly is. Her love for Knox is the only thing helping her overcome her fear. Knox comes to see her and loves her no matter what but his own fear of being fake and letting fame change him trips him up a bit. I loved the way Jack and Ivy kept putting them together. They are the perfect match!
Another home run for Tess Thompson. After years of animosity between Knox and Madeleine, they're forced to spend a month in Montana for their mutual friend's wedding to Jack Wilder. They soon realize that the things that they were fighting about were a lot of misunderstandings. Ivy has realized that they just need time together, so she teams them for every event. Will they bury the hatchet, or bury it in each other's head?
Knox Hartley and Madeline Price have a wonderful story. They are two people who cannot stand to be around each other. To Knox, Madeline is a pretentious publicist that he resents. He cannot stand her. He has been a thorn in Madeline’s side for ten years. Now they are spending an entire month at Crescent Moon Ranch in cabins that are only 15 feet apart. I recommend you read their book to find out if they remain mortal enemies after a month of close proximity.
Fun beginning to the new series, Cowboy Christmas at Crescent Moon Ranch, by Tess Thompson. This series brings back characters from the Crescent Moon Ranch series. Knox and Madeleine have always rubbed each other the wrong way. Now they are spending a month together with the rest of the bridal party at the ranch. It’s also being filmed for a donation to Jack’s sister’s clinic. Ivy thinks if they give each other a chance they will be a great match. Is she right or will it backfire? *I received this as an ARC reader and am leaving my unbiased review.
Ivy & Jack have all their family & friends at the Moon ranch for the month of December for there wedding festivities. Knox & Madeleine have known each other for 10 years. Always bickered. They are forced to be together and learn so much about themselves and each other. They both are deserving of love & happiness. Beautiful story.
What a beautiful story. I loved revisiting with the Moons. Each one of these characters are so amazing. The whole story was just so romantic. Who wouldn’t love a whole month full of romance and friendship with a beautiful wedding at the end. Tess Thompson has done a phenomenal job with this story. I can’t wait for the next book in this series. I have already preordered it. I love the whole SLURFPIG motto. I highly recommend this book.
This book hit all the emotions you could think of. Lots of fun and many great ideas for celebrating are showcased. It just goes to show you that almost everyone has something in their past they want to hide or overcome in order to have a happily-ever-after. It was an awesome pre-wedding month and I enjoyed every minute.
Can Maddie and Knox get any cuter?! These two headstrong people just won’t let their guards down to admit their feelings for one another. Will their past histories get in the way of any possible future romance between the two of them or will Ivy and Jack be able to work their magic to bring these two to their senses? This is a Crescent Moon Ranch story that you don’t want to miss!
What a wonderful way to bring two series together with a month long wedding celebration! The friend group from this new Cowboy Christmas at Christmas Moon Ranch in Rebel Moon spends an entire month with the Moon family at their Crescent Moon Ranch! The detailed description of every single day makes me want to go to Montana! Sign me up!
Rebel Moon takes emotions to heart. Knox and Madeleine are a stroll through the senses that knocks on the door of the soul. Thompson balances hope and heartache with an ease that will take your breathe away.
