A wonderful escalation from the first book in the series. Craig and Vesta's hijinks and response to threats continue.
Would have been 5 stars if not for the author bringing political views rearing their ugly head towards the end. Personal politics have no place in the escape from reality most readers seek in their reading pleasure.

About on par with the first book, which unfortunately continues to revel in most of the bad traits the original series developed towards the tail end: exaggerated emotions, implausible scenarios, endless grandstanding, nauseating fawning, and buckets of sanctimony.
That’s particularly unfortunate because I really do enjoy this author’s writing, and it’s the only reason I keep reading this series. I just wish that talent were being put to better use.

To much unnecessary recaping
The book is good in that it has John conroe's style of endearing romance and his special blend of action scenes. The issue is like 30% of the book is recap. Recapping the previous book and recapping previous chapters we just read. There is also some not so subtle political views inserted to let us know how the aurthor thinks of current affairs. Not my thing as i read books to escape reality not listen to someone rant about it. 3 out of 5 for me. Book 1 was 6 out of 5 as it reminded me of the author's early content where Christianity and humanity was observed rather than critiqued and found wanting. Ill read book 3, hopefully with the characters out of the country the author wont feel the need to vent his political frustrations to the reader

A little tired of the government officials who are just evil for not reason, the whole peaceful native american thing that is anti-history, and the obvious and tacked on anti-Ice/Trump ending.

A MasterClass In Storytelling
John Conroe makes writing this stuff look easy, many thanks for another brilliant addition to the Demon Accords multiverse!
Craig Blackmore, is a first year student at Arcane the college for supernaturals in North America after the loss of his father on Greenacres (aka Golf Alpha) he endured a whirlwind start to the academic year. Forging a “beloved” bond with Vesta Reynolds-O’Carroll meaning that they are soulmates.
College life brings its own challenges but an afternoon off campus excursion results in Vesta and Craig being “outed” to the world at large by the world media. Threat levels escalate when a supernatural hit squad targets students at Arcane.
Humanity in all its variations tends to overreact to perceived or potential threats, something that holds true when Craig’s abilities are scrutinised and taken out of context.
It’s so easy to fall into these books that I frequently read them over the course of a day. This series is a continuation of the original Demon Accords series and features the offspring of some of the original characters. Or in other words each book is part of an ongoing plot line and need to be read in sequence. Urban Fantasy at it’s finest

I liked it, but
But, as someone else said, there's a lot of unnecessary repetition. Narratively speaking, you dont need to "say" the same thing to every new group you meet.
Additionally, I felt like the deportation segment was very targeted. Im not american, I dont hold much political opinions in general, the end part just felt completely out of left field (literally). Not them moving, but the specific language. I found it odd, and a bit off.
I feel like this book series shouldnt be on earth. I feel like it would be cooler to go to an existing other location and rather start fresh there. But its not my book, just my opinion. I feel like you are significantly limited due to the power scaling created. Its a constant rotation of offended -> response.
I also feel like Vesta is being undervalued. Besides one or two paragraphs about how important she is, and her going off to do stuff, theres never the light nuance of what she is able to accomplish. I feel like its a result of her starting over 9000. Declan at least started small and worked his way up. Why cant she talk to plants more? Why cant the MC rely on her more? I feel like she is underutilized.

Continuing Veera and Craig's story. A good yarn and more expansion on Craig and who he is. But not enough of Cora and Wulf, I was really disappointed to see them continually be back benched and not highlighted as they seemed very interesting. Classic Conroe, super OP MC, like almost Gordon level but on a different spectrum. Though holy cow if we didn't get the who is Craig and how awesome he is speech/ lecture just about every other chapter. I am used to the style but it was really bordering on filler for this book, we know who he is and we know what he can do you don't have to monologue it to everyone. Excited to see what is next!

another great book in the series
Another great book in the series. I am just guessing right now, but this series might be a bit shorter than the first series. There is not much of a overarching thread like in the first book series with the aliens. However, I totally enjoy reading this story. I hope the author will create a different point of view for other main characters like the twins.

fun
Nice power-up for the lizard (poop) king. Some predictable narrative beats, but that just helps keep things moving smoothly. Having an MC who insta-kills threats must be difficult to find challenges that don’t end before they begin.
I like it, and will wait (im)patiently for the next one.

Expansion was a soft reboot and, much like College Arcane before it, an excellent breath of fresh air for a too often self-satisfied series.
My hopes were high. They were quickly and thoroughly crushed.
This is a compendium of scenes that makes no sense, held together by the faintest outline of a long-term plot. More so than any of its predecessors, it lazily floats over a sea of straight up recaps and rehash of past scenes, but this time no amount of suspension of disbelief will be enough to accept how ludicrous the setups are. Top of my mind:
- Suddenly we're in a bar. One where an MMA fighter/streamer, with a support witch on staff, bullies random guys for views. Queue "I don't like bullies" scene.
- Suddenly a new werewolf student, fully aware of who the protagonists are and that they're a bonded pair, just walks up to them to the spirit of "hi, i'm better than him, you should be mine". Then attempts to sucker punch.
- Suddenly a squad of vampire hitmen arrive at the most famous don't-mess-with-them school, to kill the children of the (second?) most don't-mess-with-them couple.
Let's give it time to sink in. Elder vampires ordered a hit on the Demidova children, which was then executed in the middle of a compound holding dozens of witches, vampires, precogs... Learning this, and that it would have succeeded if not for the protagonist (who, in pure Conroe style, is the only one allowed to save the day), Chris and Tanya shrug it off. No righteous fury, no divine retribution. Can't risk them having any actual role in this story.
Speaking of story... I'm still waiting for it. There's no beginning, nor end in sight. The underlying red line is thin and barely brushed, mostly involving a not-dead mother that turned from a very average witch in the previous book to a beyond cutting edge one, able to tattoo warlock sigils that puzzle Declan, with a matter than Omega could barely detect. She's also bordering on omniscient, appearing (and disappearing) to deliver messages that serve no discernible purpose.
Last, the one redeeming highlight: the massive empowerment of the protagonist (another most familiar theme) was the coolest so far: secret tattoos meant to be filled up and completed through undisclosed means. If you can see a Fire elemental fill in part of the diagram and not even think "hey, let's try meeting another type", you're probably going to be shocked in the next books. The entire gang certainly will.
I'll finish where the book does: blatant political insertions. The last few chapters see a US president (again) declare a vendetta against the protagonists, this time in the form of malicious deportation. They only stay long enough for political commenting to happen before happily relocating to a friendly host. A perfect ending for a book that refused to offer a structured narrative with linear progress, instead collecting small meant-to-be-cool moments of little to no consequence.

Excellent addition
Terrific reading time. As JC mentioned in the afterword took longer to write due to family and life events! Dementia is terrible disease for the affected and even more for the caregiver. I have been through it as a caregiver and can only see cancer as worse. Overall a great reading time with new characters and events to keep interesting. A new book different coming out soon as well. Looking forward to more great reading, courtesy of John Conroe writing talent and imagination.

So no sleep for me
I read it in one night. I just love these characters. The humor but also complex issues throughout make this series amazing. We get to see some more of our favorites. We also get to see growth of a number of characters. I can't wait to read the next one. But let's be real, I would read a receipt if it was written by John Conroe.

I never thought ICE agents would get involved!
It took time to build the back story on Craig, but wow, what a surprise. Crazy, powerful and unique new character that grows into the scariest killer of Conroe’s new generation. I kinda miss Chris and Tanya, since they play such a small roll in this one.

The Demon Accords: The Next Generation
I've been a fan of the Demon Accords since the first chapter of the first book. The last year, I read all the books backwards through the series. This most recent book makes me want to do it again, just to enjoy witnessing how this author has flourished in their craft over the last dozen years.

The next generation is every bit as captivating as the first. If you liked the Demon Accords you will love Generations. If you haven't read either, do yourself a favor and start with God Touched.

I hate John Conroe
I hate John Conroe. I have devoured every single wonderful Demon Accords Book, have been waiting months, frantically, for this latest masterpiece and read it non-stop in a day. Now I will be in a state of withdrawal while waiting months for the next one.

Very good book
This is a fine urban fantasy adventure novel. It is well written and edited. I especially like the cat. I anxiously await the author's next novel.

Another amazing book in this series. This is my favorite series. The author builds a great story with extremely strong characters throughout. Highly recommend.

I don't think I've ever seen a book cover quite as bad as this one. It doesn't make any sense. Seems like they child have at least tried a bit harder

I enjoyed reading this book and I recommend this book to anyone who likes LitRPG and progression types of books with lots of action.
