J'ai découvert ce personnage via la télé lors de son passage dans l'émission Eurovision. Chaque année, j'aime m’asseoir en famille pour découvrir celui ou celle qui représentera la France et surtout connaitre les autres talents des autres pays. Et chaque année, c'est la déception et j'attends l'année suivante avec impatience. Pourtant cette fois-ci, bien que la France a été limite de la catastrophe et au moment même où j'allais passer à autre chose, je suis restée comme figée devant l'écran. Qu'est-ce que c'est que ça ???
Première fois de ma vie, je vois un homme barbu avec le corps d'une femme, habillé en femme se présenter aux yeux de tous. Et voilà qu'il chante comme une sirène en plus. Bluffée mais intriguée.
Le lendemain, on parle de lui partout dans les journaux, à la télé, chez Ruquier..... Son passage a été comme une grosse explosion parmi nous. Le gars est venu tout déréglé avec ses codes.
J'ai voulu en savoir plus à son sujet.
Je vous présente Moi, Conchita de Conchita Wurst. Une biographie pas trop longue mais juste ce qu'il faut pour mieux le connaitre.
Conchita nous parle de son enfance, du regard des autres sur lui notamment à l'école quand les garçons étaient très cruels avec lui avec tout un décor, un paysage, chez lui en Autriche.
Il nous parle de l'amour de ses parents, de sa passion pour la comédie, la musique, la mode....son passage à l'eurovision, sa rencontre avec Jean Paul Gaultier ou le Crazy Horse en n'oubliant pas sa chère grand-mère, son roc et toutes les personnalités du milieu que l'on connait via les médias.
Il se livre à nous pour que nous puissions mieux le comprendre aujourd'hui et sans le juger.
Un livre émouvant, intéressant, qui accroche le lecteur même si on n'est pas spécialement fan de lui.
Aujourd'hui, je suis bien contente d'en connaitre plus à travers sa bio même si ça ne va rien changer à ma vie mais au moins, ce livre nous rappelle certaines choses : Quand nous avons des préjugés vaut mieux en chercher la cause.

Cette biographie est un beau message sur la tolérance et la discrimination en tout genre.

I've adored Conchita ever since I heard Rise Like a Phoenix when it was first released in March 2014. Following her journey from an underdog to an Eurovision winner was the best part of 2014 for me, and being a fan of hers is something I am happy to be. Reading this book, I found out a lot about the motives behind creating the character of Conchita, about Tom's youth and growing up, and how all of that lead to Conchita taking the trophy on May 10th, 2014.

This book sure has its cliche moments, but it's absolutely beautifully written. There are so many hard-hitting, poignant quotes and thoughts in here that I really wanna go through this book again and underline and write down in my notebooks all of the inspiring quotes and great points Conchita makes here. This book made me love her even more and I'll hold it dear to my heart.

First off, I like Conchita as an artist and for her message of tolerance and acceptance of diversity.

I'm giving the book a three-star rating; it did not go all too deep and was read rather quickly. But for those who are interested in Conchita it still provides a nice read and some more information.

J'avoue que je suis fan de Conchita et de ses chansons, je ne pouvais pas passer à coté de son livre. Je connaissais déjà un peu son histoire via ce que je trouvais sur le net, mais son livre m'a apprit encore plus de choses sur elle. Elle nous parle d'abord de l'enfance de Tom dans son petit village de montagne, Tom n'est autre que Conchita sans ses atours de dragqueen. Tom n'a pas eu une enfance très simple, car très jeune déjà, ses camarades de classes le surnommaient "le pédé". Mais grâce à l'amour de ses parents ainsi que de sa grand-mère, et surtout grâce à sa volonté, Tom va réussir à devenir celle que nous connaissons aujourd'hui sous le nom de Conchita Wurst. Je ne vous cacherai pas que ce livre m'a fait passer du rire aux larmes, de la joie à la mélancolie, Conchita a su me transporter dans son univers. Elle nous parle de son parcours, avec ses hauts et ses bas, avec simplicité, je dirais même avec humilité. Sa notoriété, elle ne la prend pas pour acquise, elle ne se repose pas sur ses lauriers. Elle se sert de cette "célébrité" pour faire avancer les choses en ce qui concerne les droits des homosexuels. Elle n'est pas seule face à ce combat, elle est entourée d'amis, qu'ils soient célèbres ou pas, ce sont des amis fidèles. Si vous voulez vous aussi en savoir plus sur cette personne haute en couleur et au coeur d'or, n'hésitez pas à vous procurez son livre. Vous trouverez beaucoup de photos dans le livre, qui représentent Conchita avant et après sa victoire à l'Eurovision de 2014. Des photos toutes aussi belles les unes que les autres, sur certaines, on peut sentir une certaine fragilité, sur d'autres, une véritable force intérieure qui se voit à l'extérieur. Certaines nous montrent également le petit Tom et sa famille. Ceux et celles qui me connaissent, ont déjà du comprendre à ma manière d'écrire cette chronique, que ce fut un réel coup de coeur pour moi.

i remember conchita winning the euro and thinking wow not hear much of her since though i tend to find these type of books bit full of thenselves but must admit found this a pleasent surprise with personality coming through of how to be in the minority of something something i feel as being asexual and aspergic !!! on the whole enjoyed it although wondering wot up to today like so many stars here today gone tomorrow !!!

This is a good book, but not an outstanding book. I dearly love Conchita/Tom but I felt the insight into his life was thin. I don't need scandal, but I would have enjoyed more depth. I feel it was a cautious venture.... However I will look forward to the next written work by this outstanding Indvidual. Conchita has a lot to offer and I'm totally up for it. X

There wasn't really a lot of depth to this, and it can come across as repetitive after a while, but it was warm and uplifting. You can just feel that Conchita sees the beauty in everything. It's just a warm nice story about a drag queen, and sometimes that's all you feel like reading.
