Breathless

Rate this book
A husband and wife lay in separate ICU rooms, both battling severe COVID complications, both placed on ventilators, both slipping further from what medicine believed they could survive. Nurses held their hands when family couldn’t. Friends gathered in parking lots, churches, and living rooms praying through the night. Text messages turned into chains of thousands. Strangers cried out to Jesus for two people they had never even met.

The reports grew darker.
Organs failing.
Oxygen dropping.
“Prepare for the worst.”

But prayer never stopped.

Even when doctors said there was nothing more they could do, people kept believing God could. Scripture was spoken over hospital rooms. Worship played softly beside unconscious bodies. Families chose faith when fear would have been easier.

Then slowly, against every expectation, things began to change.

A number improved.
A lung responded.
Sedation was lowered.
Eyes opened.

The husband survived.
The wife survived.
Both walked out of the hospital after standing at the edge of death.

Their story became more than survival — it became a testimony. A reminder that faith can endure in the darkest rooms, that prayer matters, and that miracles still happen when all earthly hope is gone.

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” — Psalm 147:3
