There is no denying that Jessi St. John has woven an incredibly intricate web of mysteries, political machinations, magical complications, and emotional baggage to wrap up in The Weaver’s Veil, and the way that everything unraveled in this finale kept me on my toes the entire way through. The stakes and emotions are higher than ever, and while this does not give every neat little answer I might have hoped for, that doesn't make it any less satisfying.

Now, I have binged every instalment in The Last Death Witch series in a single day, and The Weaver’s Veil was no exception. We pick up only a little while after the traumatic events at the end of The Weaver's Tapestry, and I absolutely loved that we got a little calm before the inevitable storm as Edith is hiding from the government back at Julian’s family home in Cornwall. These two have been the emotional anchor of this series from the very beginning, and seeing the progression of their bond, with Julian providing non-stop support for Edith while she processes her trauma and the shocking implications of her unexpected power displays, tugged on every single one of my heartstrings.

Of course, this is still The Last Death Witch we're talking about, so unfortunately the peace and domestic happiness don't last particularly long. See, there is a new killer on the loose in London, targeting the upper circles of society, and Edith is offered a bargain to have her charges of treason dropped, if she can solve the murders. That should be no big problem for my clever investigator witch, except absolutely nothing about Edith's life is ever simple, and there is a lot more going on beneath the surface of this particular murder mystery. There is just so much emotional weight woven into the investigation this time around, alongside all the political and magical threats closing in around Edith, and that is exactly why I genuinely could not stop turning the pages.

Whereas the multi-POV storytelling in the previous books sometimes felt a little wobbly to me, I think The Weaver’s Veil really showcases how much St. John has grown as a storyteller throughout this series, which was honestly one of my unexpected favourite things about this finale. Edith is still my absolute favourite character to follow, though, and I particularly loved how thoroughly fed up she is with men's bullshit in this book. I mean, I wouldn't necessarily call this a female rage book, but there are definitely moments that give me those vibes, especially with the heavier feminist social commentary. Edith's defiance is such a wonderful part of her character, and I really appreciated how St. John manages to balance that with the historical 1890s setting without making her feel out of place for the time period.

Seeing how she has fought to establish her own place in a world that has spent so much time trying to control her as a Death Witch has been such a rewarding part of this journey, and I loved how she has had not only her ever-present companion Death, but also an increasing number of friends and (found) family to help her. The complicated yet strong interpersonal relationships are absolutely one of St. John’s biggest strengths, and I loved how these dynamics are such a tangled mess of history, loyalties, complicated feelings, and unresolved issues without ever being dramatic for the sake of drama. Also, Rose and Willa have my entire heart, and I would absolutely kill for a spin-off about these two precious babes.

As much as I enjoyed The Weaver’s Veil, I do have to admit that I could tell in places that St. John was tired and under deadline while writing this finale, as she herself admits in the acknowledgements. The closer I got to the end, the more I started to wonder if this really was the finale to trilogy, because several of the overarching conflicts and questions still hadn't been addressed at 95% into the book. In my opinion, there was quite a bit of untapped potential for the side characters and all the intriguing alternate history magical lore, and I would have loved a bit more breathing room and falling action to fully appreciate every aspect of this story in all its glory and for the emotional beats to hit a bit harder.

Still, I do appreciate that each instalment has been so tight and focused, and I think it is highly impressive how much St. John was able to pack into The Last Death Witch trilogy. This has been one of my favourite underhyped hidden-gem discoveries of the year, and I genuinely hope we might get to return to this world one day, because I feel like many characters have a lot more story to tell. This is just the most unique blend of One Dark Window meets Sherlock Holmes while being entirely its own thing, and I can’t recommend it highly enough if you're in the mood for a witchy gaslamp romantic fantasy mystery with deliciously dark vibes, complicated relationships, supernatural shenanigans, political intrigue, and a wonderfully atmospheric world.

Thank you to the author for providing me with an eARC in exchange for an honest review, all opinions are my own. The Weaver's Veil is scheduled for release on November 13th, 2026.

She did it again!!

With the most intricate web of mysteries and murders Edith has to solve - Jessi has yet again blown my mind!

I cannot stress how much you need to read this book and this whole series if you haven't done it yet! There is so many layers upon layers, lies upon lies and mysteries upon mysteries that I'm shook when they'r all revealed!!

I wasn't expecting anything that happened! All my theories in the beginning - wrong!

And my imagination was not remotely close to the exceptionally amazing writing and storymaking done here!

I got the ARC and I immediatly started reading! This is one of those series that I drop everything to read because Jessi wrote it! And I was not disappointed, not at all! I knew it was going to be good, amazing even but THIS? I have no words!

I don't really need to say anything more about it I want you to experience it all with a blanc canvas! The blurb is more than enough!

The characters is as always amazing! The new characters was so interesting but I tried and failed to see their fit in the story.

It's just great plot, amazing character and mind blowing twists!

Thank you for the early read Jessi! As always - reader for life!

I was not ready for 'the Weaver's Veil, the last book in the Last Death Witch trilogy. I simply did not want to say goodbye to Edith, Coren, Roswick, Alina and Barrows. (OK OK, Willa had me intrigued as well). But I had to know if my favourites would have some happiness, so I had to read it. And I am glad I did, despite being sad that this was the end (for now?).
This is going to be a rather short review, because I don't want to give any spoilers for the last two books.

Another chapter in Edith's life, another murder mystery + a lot of secrets and mystery as to who is friend or foe? Who can we trust?

I absolutely loved that the murders to be solved were mainly focused on (rich) humans this time around, and that even the Prince of Wales had a role to play in this final book. No, not William, but the actual Prince or Wales in the 1890s, Albert 'Bertie' Edward (Edward VII).

Edith was at points doubting herself a bit, mainly due to her experience with the Warden. It was really nice to see that internal struggle, made Edith feel all the more real.

Plotwise I just had to keep reading. What does the Warden want? Who is behind the betrayal? Oh yeah sure Jessi, hit me in the face with a plottwist why don't you. Oh and another one.

'The Weaver's Veil' was a great ending and this entire trilogy will forever be one of my faves thanks to the amazing found family... and Edith is just my book girlfriend, so yeah, it holds a special place in my heart and all.

Edith is faced with another murder mystery in London, this time men in high society are being targeted. But it's not only them being targeted, someone is after Edith as well.
The final installment in The Last Death Witch series was a whirlwind, a type only Julian can whip up (IYKYK). I'll try to keep this review as spoilerfree as possible, but since this is book 3 there might be spoilers for earlier books. So tread carefully!
When you think Edith was already going through some hard times in the first two books, prepare yourself for this one! Jessi St John hardly gives her (and us as readers) a moment to breath, before the next threat is looming. The writing is fantastic, the way panic, doubts and getting stuck in your head were described were visceral. I could physically feel those moments like a weight bearing me down.
The found family was again so lovely. Her relationship with Coren, Julian, Alina, Edward and the children she fosters develops further, making it all the more heartbreaking when clues lead to a betrayal from within her closer circle. Who can she trust? Who has ulterior motives and why?
One slight critique I have is that there are some moments I feel could have been fleshed out more. The story leaves me with a few questions unanswered, especially regarding the Warden. I think this book would have benefitted from a bit more time and less tight deadlines to take out all the loose ends. It didn't take away from my overall enjoyment though!
The ending almost made me throw my ereader across the room. How dare you Jessi! It also made me tear up, which doesn't happen to me often. I'm sad to say goodbye to these characters (for now?) and I can't wait for Jessi's next project!

🪡 ARC REVIEW 🌕

Holy Weaver…. I did not want this story to end!!! 😭 Edith is such a BA and is coming into her own power 💁🏻‍♀️✨ It was SOOO good!!! This is an absolute must-read series!!! 💯💯💯

A “few” of my favorite quotes . . . 😉🤭

🧵 “We must deal in it, we must witness it, and we are judged for it. But we are also mothers and daughters; lovers and friends. It’s important to remember that you can be many things.” “…Your flower. Beautiful. Delicate, but deadly.” “How does love make us both so frail and so strong?” “Perpetual & unyielding in a way that tore all artifice away. Only truth could stand against it, and only if one clung to it bitterly. The blue-black waters were bottomless, and they snared her attention like they were a mirror of her soul. A fierce force of nature, but ravaged.”

💫 “The storm may bend it and force it to yield, but in the end, it outlasts the tempests and stands again.” “He saw her flaws. He loved her despite them and because of them.” “…I cannot let the fear control me…You were the one who told me that I could be afraid, but I needed to act anyway.” “He’s a reminder that we can change, you know.” “You aren’t a sheep though either…you can be the monster that even wolves cower from.” “But you make me feel like the brightest star in the sky. You are the only star…”

🪡 “Reputation. That impalpable currency no one could hold but everyone recognized. A thing that made a man but also brought him to his knees.” “It is all cut from the same cloth. Intolerance for which they cannot control.” “Edith had her fill of all men…telling her what they thought she should do today.”

I was so excited for the third book in this series and it did not disappoint. Thank you Jessi for letting me be part of the ARC team for all three! This review is my honest opinion.
Edith and Julian have retreated to the ocean so that they can regroup and recover, and to hide from those who want her arrested for restoring the Aliis' mortality. But even there she isn't safe, there is something trying to get to her that may be more dangerous than anything they will face in the city. Then there are murders in the city, and her friends are able to get a deal for her with the humans. Solve these murders and they will no longer try to imprison her. But there's a time limit. And as if that weren't enough pressure, there is someone else after her, as well as the Warden coming for her. No pressure!
This book was just as good as the first two, and I am honestly bummed the trilogy is done. I definitely would love more of these characters. There is mystery, action, intrigue, romance, and found family. I love that it is different from a lot of the other fantasy books in that it takes place in a real place, old London, and it has the real historical context, but Jessi has also built this fantastic fantasy world within that. It's dark and mysterious, but also filled with hope. Definitely go pick up this series!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
5/5🌟

What an amazing ending to this trilogy! Wow. The twists and reveals, they just kept coming. This trilogy is such an incredible mürder mystery in a regency setting. So fun! I truly didn’t guess who and I loved that there were multiple mysteries and not just one! There is open door spice in this book, I would rate it 1.5/5 🌶️. Thank you to the author for the eARC. This voluntary review is my honest thoughts and opinions about this book. I think that this trilogy is perfect to pick up this fall. I love it when an author can make you love the side characters as much as the main characters. That’s a special thing and Jessi certainly does that here! The comedic relief is just perfect and never overdone. I just loved this book! The tone, the plot, the characters, the mystery, the reveals…chefs kiss perfection!

“Actions may speak louder than words, but words outlive actions.”

“How does one stand against the keeper of the dead?”
“By holding the darkness up to the light.”

“To be reminded that men are not all one thing. A good man can do evil things. An evil man can love deeply.”

“I must let it shatter before I can go about sweeping it up off the floor. And I need to be alone for that.”

“How does love make us both so frail and so strong?”

THE WEAVER'S VEIL by Jessi St. John is the final book in the Last Death Witch trilogy. After reading the first book, I knew I had to read the rest and whatever else Jessi writes. I was beyond excited to be a part of the street team for these books. Each book of the trilogy is incredible. The world building is done so well that I could easily see the setting and the characters. And the characters? All of them were very well-written and such a vast variety of personalities. Edith was both so very strong and yet vulnerable. A character easy to love. And Julian, so strong and steadfast. Found family is at the top of my list and I loved Edith's found family.

From the beginning, these books have captured my attention in such a way that I couldn't let go until I reached the end. And the finale? Absolutely mind blowing! This trilogy is like no other. From the writing style to the setting to the story itself, I highly recommend these books to everyone looking for something to grab them, immerse them in an amazing world and take them on an incredible journey filled with witches, romance, tragedy, love, found family, humor and shocking plot twists.

"It matters not, for you are not a willow. You are a marsh reed. When willow and oak and hawthorn are broken by the storm, the reed is not. The storm may bend it and force it to yield, but in the end, it outlasts the tempest and stands again."

The Weaver’s Veil is book 3 in the Last Death Witch Series by Jessi St. John, and OMG, it is beyond brilliant. The threads that Jessi has woven, creating this series, are absolutely incredible.
Honestly, I am finding it hard to describe how much I LOVED this book, and the series as a whole. Just like the first two books, The Weaver’s Veil keeps you on your toes until the very end. The mysteries and all the smallest details are so well thought out, and just when you start to think you’re figuring it out, think again.
THAT ENDING THOUGH. I may have, and most definitely cried more than once, and as much as I was devastated, it was a brilliant way to end the book.

Once again, Jessi has outdone herself, and I cannot wait to read what she does next!

What a way to end a series!

I have loved the Last Death Witch series since book 1, The Weaver’s Loom. We have gone on a journey with Edith as she discovers who she really is, solves some mysteries along the way, and uncovers some hard truths.

In The Weaver’s Veil, book 3, everything comes to a head. You will be shocked, you will want to throw your books, and you may be like me and have a slight heart attack at a certain scene later in the book.

Jessi’s writing is beautiful and reminds me a lot of Rachel Gillig. This series is a must-read if you enjoy gaslamp fantasy with a shot of mystery. I am sad that Edith’s story is over but I can’t wait to see what Jessi does next!

Many thanks to Jessi St. John for the ARC to read and review!

Thank you Jessi for the opportunity to read your books in advance.

With this being the final installment of The Last Death Witch series I wa every excited to read this early. And again I could not put it down. It kept me hooked from the first word and would not let go.

We follow Edith's latest investigation but all is not as it seems. With a little added spice, memories made and a plot twist that would fox Sherlock Holmes and Ms Marple!

Jessi I am really looking forward to continue working with you in the future and I wish you best success with the release of this book and the future releases.

Thanks again

Thank you Jessi St. John for the opportunity to read this ARC!

This was a beautiful and satisfying ending of this trilogy! As the other 2 books, Jessi did not disappoint and delivered an epic ending with more mystery! There was just the right amount of romance in it and it was perfect. The found family was great!

I have no other notes!

The uniqueness of the story, magic and world building is what drew me into these books and I’m honored that I got to ARC read all three!

Jessi did it again, this book had me surprised with so many things.. and the END? wasn’t expecting and I almost ended up throwing my kindle. This universe and all the mysteries that Edith had to solve.. I don’t know how she managed to drive me, and I think most people, guess things differently.

What a plot and end.

So happy and honored to be part of the street team and read this arc beforehand.

This is the third and last book of the triology and you have to read those books.

Bookish besties, The Weaver's Veil is the thrilling, emotional, and beautiful conclusion to what is one of my FAVORITE series. The writing is absolutely gorgeous and the mystery will keep you spinning! I knew from the prologue that @jessi_st_john_author had out done herself with book 3. I insist everyone reads this series and meets our brilliant, loyal, and brave Edith. This fantastical, romantic, and mysterious world awaits...

I have so much love for this series, and this book finished it off beautifully. The murder mystery was excellent as it has been throughout, full of twists and turns and had me full on sobbing all over my kindle at the ending.

Jessi did it again.
The last book in this trilogie and what an ending.
I'm leaving it at this. I can't put in words my emotions right now.
Grief, happiness, love? Well a lot and I need some time to come to terms with the fact that Edith her story is told.
