After you get over the main character "drooling" over the 2 hottest boys in school, this was a pretty good story. A foster kid who didn't fit in anywhere finally finds a home that accepts her for what she is.....a wolf. The story has a bit of mystery of figuring out which wolf pack did what to whom and why. It had a touch of a love triangle (which I despise), but it wasn't the focus of the book, so it was bearable and she did choose someone in the end. It was a story of a girl finding her place and fighting to make things better.

Amazing! Loved this take on werewolves by Katie Salidas! She definitely threw an interesting lore to it and I can't wait to read more! Giselle has been in foster homes all her life. Will this next one be the home she desires? Following Giselle as she discovers the world around her, the secrets flurrying about and the handsome magically inclined guys is quite the adventure! Giselle knows somethings up and she's going to make sure she finds out exactly what.

If you enjoy YOUNG ADULT paranormal stories, this is it! A fresh take on werewolves in Las Vegas! Loved it!

Far too focussed on the gawking and drawling at hot boys to be interesting. It's a pity because the premise of the feud between two families of shapeshifters could have caught my attention. The angle of the child in foster care really should have caught my eye. But all of the interesting bits were smothered in the love triangle which was forcibly shoved down your throat. If you ever managed to forget that there are two very hot guys that Giselle is drooling - literally - over in school, Katie Salidas once more rams it at you until you choke on it. Apparently, Giselle has never been much interested in boys before. Honest to God, you wouldn't be able to tell. The vast amount of her thought processes are dedicated to boys and it destroys what could have been a good tale completely.

With the love interest toned down, or preferably removed altogether, this could have possibly scraped three stars although that would depend... as with the drooling and the descriptions of flirting and obsessive thoughts and yada yada blah blah blah removed this would be a novella rather than a novel. Instead of sickly vomit worthy romance crap, the author could try putting in character development that isn't either annoying or sickly sweet. Or perhaps expand on the feuding and how that impacts on the families, other than the fact that it means dating the cute boy is frowned upon. Or, even better, focus on Giselle's past rather than have a really light sketch of a troubled teen chucked from one foster home to another. In fact, if this book had started earlier in the foster care scene, gone through three or four homes and then found the perfect werewolf pack to settle down with, I might even have forgiven it some of the vomit inducing moon eyes and drool.

Unfortunately, it doesn't and the focus is very much on the love triangle aspect and that made this a complete chore for me to read. I haven't read Twilight, but somehow from all the hype around it, this reminded me of a fangirl playing in the same waters. That might just be the crappy love triangle thing though. As a final negative, I found much of the writing to be flat and overly sentimentalised...

Pretty Little Werewolf

It was petty flat and very immature. I'm going through a total reading slump all I might be a little harsher than usual but only because I'm so frustrated. It was very 'teenage angst' and the characters were so dull and had little to no depth. I kept waiting for the climax but once I finished the book, I realized it was never really coming.

So, yeah, I really didn't like it.

I absolutely adored this YA book! Giselle is a lone wolf, with all the makings of an Alpha. She has spent her live in the foster kid system never meeting another wolf until she is placed with Martina, there're she lives with Marina the Alpha, her mate and two adopted daughters Diana and Taylor. They want her to join their pack. Having never had a family, let alone a pack, Giselle is cautious . Enroll into a new high school she meets two hunky guys, Asher a wolf the son of the Alpha from the rival pack, and Damien, a witch. She is drawn to both males. Asher warns her to be cautious before committing to Martina's pack, the packs have been enemies for years. There is a mystery here and Giselle is determined to find out everything before committing herself.
I loved this story! Am already chomping at the bit for more! I won't give away anymore, but needless to say this book is a keeper! Great story, plot, characters and action! Katie has done it again! She is becoming one of my favorite authors! Highly recommend this book!

I'm a sucker for shifter books, but this werewolf tale takes the cake! Giselle is a rather interesting young woman, going through puberty like every other warm blooded female, except for one little thing...the full moon brings on the wolf. Katie Salidas does a wonderful job of drawing you into the deceivingly uncomplicated world of the supernatural and the ordinary, you can't help becoming invested in the characters desires to make things right. I especially enjoyed that matriarchs were alphas as well as patriarchs, and that sometimes it's ok to go against the pack if you're standing up for others. Recommended for anyone who likes a good coming of age story, werewolf tale, or non-annoying paranormal romance:) 5 stars

This book was very enjoyable but aimed at a much younger age group than myself which is why it probably missed the mark with me.

The main character is Giselle, a girl who has only ever wanted a family who accepted her as she is, a werewolf. So she moves in with a new family who just happen to be werewolves also and who are willing to take her into their pack. But as all things all is not as it seems and there's a guy in her new school that swears she'd be better off without them.

There are a lot of secondary characters including her new school friends and the guy but I can't remember their names so let's just say that they are great influences and help her find a 'sort of family'.

The storyline is decent but it's the whole high school characters that was a let down for me, and the pacing was OK and I liked that the ending gave us the possibility of moving onto other things for the characters, perhaps some more grown up adventures.

I really wanted to like this book because the concept had such potential; however, the execution was sorely lacking for me.
There was something about the writing style that fell a bit flat, and I know part of it was that it was written in 3rd person, but it was juxtaposed with inserted thoughts from Giselle that just didn't feel genuine. I think this book might have been better with 1st person POV.
Also, for Giselle being a foster child and standoffish with other people, she was very happy to be close and talk to (and think way too much about) the cute boys at her school. We were then subjected to a love triangle that felt forced. I didn't believe that any of these characters were actually attracted to one another.
The resolution happened way too fast and fell into place much too easily for feuding families. I know the book was only 245 pages, but it needed more development.
Again, I really wanted to like it, but by halfway through, I was just wishing it was over.

Poor Giselle has been in so many foster homes, she no longer knows which way is up or down. From the moment you begin reading, Giselle's plight draws you in. She's alone and scared with a secret she can never divulge to anyone. Or so she thinks.

In her mind, she believes that she's a freak of nature. That there's no one else like her out there. Until she meets the members of what promises to be her new family and home. It's then that her life changes.

I enjoyed Giselle's naivete. She may appear to be strong and self-sufficient, but underneath it all, she's vulnerable. It's that vulnerability that comes through whatever she intends to do. Despite the fact that she's been dealt so many hardships, she does her best to make do with what she's got. Good or bad, she'll deal with it.

The fact that she lands smack-dab in the middle of a feud between two different packs makes her question a lot of things. Her being able to assert herself through it all speaks volumes. She's not afraid to delve into things if the need calls for it. Granted, doing so tends to get her into trouble more times than she can count.

The lore Katie has set up for this book makes you want to know more. It sets up so many angles for various storylines. Full of fast-paced action and intrigue, Pretty Little Werewolf is a story that captures your attention and then some. The reader will definitely feel for Giselle and what she continuously goes through. By the end of the book, they'll be fully immersed in the world Katie has created. I enjoyed this story very much.

Giselle had much to contend with. This was the first day in her new foster home – but it was also a full moon that evening, which called to her wolf and made her a bit uncontrollable, not her best way to present herself to the new family. As she stepped out of the cab and her foster mother Martina greeted her, she smelled a rich earthy scent that calmed her. Her caseworker didn’t even get out of the cab to fill out paperwork! She got away as quickly as possible, it seemed. Maybe she knew she’d be back the next day to pick her up after her wolf got rowdy tonight. Two adopted girls around Giselle’s age raced downstairs and introduced themselves as Diana and Taylor, one passing $5.00 to the other since she had bet the new girl was a redhead. When Giselle wasn’t as friendly to them, Martina looked at her and firmly, with the strength of an alpha, said that they spoke to each other respectfully in their house. Feeling the alpha push made Giselle want to push back with her own strength and dominance. Her face softened, as did the girls’, but Giselle couldn’t keep quiet and told them frankly she had heard it all before. Not a good start to her new-for-now life.

But this time the situation appears to be different when she finds other werewolves whom she can relate to. But with her jaded and insecure past experiences, can she bring herself to trust them enough to want to become part of their pack? And what of the possibility of a war brewing with another pack? What would that mean for her? Because she doesn't know who to trust, she determines to search for the real cause of the feud between the packs. With help from two friends, Asher and Damien, they may just find the truth she is looking for.

This was a good story about a foster situation where the main character is trying to find a place where she can belong when her situation usually makes her different from everyone else. Her character is strong and courageous, despite the snarky attitude that her treatment by others brought out. The reader can easily respect what she is trying to do as she wants to make things better. When the reader learns about the other wolf pack, the well-paced story line keeps the reader intrigued by a mystery regarding what happened between the packs and why that stirred up a feud. Giselle is willing to put herself out there and find the truth. Will she be able to do that? Will it make things better or worse for her? Grab your copy and get into her story to see where it all leads.

Giselle has lived in one foster home after another for as long as she can remember. All she has ever wanted was to have a family to call her own. Every time she is placed into a home things go great until the full moon and her wolf makes its appearance and back into foster care she goes.

Things may just be looking up for Giselle with the new foster home that she has been placed in. Giselle may just have found the one thing she has always wanted and that is a pack and family of her own. Her new foster parents want to adopt her if she will have them.

Giselle would love nothing more but it this adoption thing has come up real quick like and she is of the mind that sometimes a good thing may not be so good after all especially when she hears about another pack in the area that her soon to be pack is in war with. Giselle wants a pack and family but not if it could mean losing her life. She doesn’t want to start a new life and then have it taken away at the snap of her fingers.

Before she consents to be a part of the pack Giselle is determined to find out why the two packs are at war and to hopefully put an end to all the fighting before agreeing to become a member of the pack. Can Giselle find out what started the war between the two packs?

Giselle is a very snarky little werewolf who just wants to be loved and to feel as if she belongs. Giselle has two very hot dudes sniffing at her tail, a witch and a werewolf. Both are very likable dudes the only problem with one of them is that he belongs to the pack that her pack is in war with.

Pretty Little Werewolf has so much to offer it has werewolves, witches, pack wolves, lone wolves, curses, betrayal, war and a love triangle.

Pretty Little Werewolf is a great introduction into the world of the Little Werewolf. Pretty Little Werewolf was definitely a fast read as I read it in one sitting. Once I picked it up I couldn’t put it down. I love the story of the wolves and I can’t wait to see where Giselle takes us on her next journey in book two of the Little Werewolf series, Curious Little Werewolf.

I highly recommend Pretty Little Werewolf to anyone who are fans of fantasy, werewolves, witches and romance.

Pretty Little Werewolf by Katie Salidas is the first book in the Little Werewolf series. Giselle has spent her whole life bouncing from place to place. Like clockwork on the full moon, when her inner wolf surfaces, her current foster family sends her back into the system to be shuffled somewhere else. Her counselor says this new place will be different. Sneaking out on her first night, she discovers her new family has a secret. She's finally found everything she's always wanted; a family and other wolves that can teach her. This has to be too good to be true. When she meets another wolf at school, he tells her that not everything is as it seems with her new family, and warns her of a long time feud that may lead to a war. Could her new family really be behind a mysterious disappearance? What really started the feud between the families all those years ago? With surprising allies, Giselle digs into the past and discovers a shocking secret.

Pretty Little Werewolf has a lot of werewolves, but Katie Salidas grounds the story with realistic characters and every moment felt real within this world. Giselle's personality is closely tied to her lone wolf status, independent and brisk, not too keen on following orders, but she's also funny, caring, and loyal. She's used to being on her own and now she's being put in the middle of an old family feud and pack politics, so she's very cautious and careful about who she's trusting. To top it off, she has a fun and intriguing love triangle with a wolf and a witch. She has two very different relationships with them. One is more carefree and has a sweet flirty quality to it, and the other has chemistry, but is also serious and brisk. It's easy to fall in love with her story. The relationship she has with her potential new sisters, Diana and Taylor, is sweet, funny, and very realistic. They may disagree and bicker, but they're loyal and protective, and have some of the best scenes. This is a coming of age journey as she finds her place in this new family and what sort of wolf she wants to be. Pretty Little Werewolf is a rare gem, putting a fresh spin on the werewolf story and a hero in Giselle that will resonate with everyone.

“Pretty Little Werewolf” is the first book in the Little Werewolf Series, that follows the MC Giselle Richard in her journey to adulthood. We first encounter Giselle, who has been lost in the foster care system for years, at her arrival to the latest foster family, with little more expectations than “this is the next one, until the next”. The social worker does not even take the time to get out of the car, and Giselle is dumped once more into a “new home”. Don’t get that wrong, the homes seem to have been pretty ok, and the families average. The problem lies somewhere else, Giselle is in her own words “a freak” that cannot stay for more than a few days to a couple of weeks in the care of the foster families before she “freaks up” and they have enough. This time however she is convinced to have win the jackpot, as in beating her own record, because this time it will only take hours for the family to send her back. Tonight, is full moon, and Giselle is going to “freak up” again. As in on cue the house seems pretty, the “mother” appears nice enough with the two “sisters” in the annoying edge of things. Right them I thought I have figured out…. Cinderella Werewolf 😊… but you know what they say do not ever ass-u-me anything, my presumptions went into ashes right them.

The story is interesting and more intricate that it will appear at first sight. Giselle comes a little to naïve at times, but we should give her a break, the girl has been in the system for so long that normal interaction does not come easy, to say the least, and even the most social aware girl, finds herself drooling a little to much over a boy…. or two. The secondary characters are well drafted in the supernatural world hides a lot of secrets that Giselle needs to unlock carefully, before she makes any decisions that will permanently affect her future.

I pick this book after reading Katie Salidas’ “Agents of ASSET” Series and some other unrelated books by the author. I did not expect to like it that much as I am not a werewolf fan, but I was pleasantly surprised with the story and the characters, this author never disappoints.

A teenage werewolf, who's spent her life in foster care, finds her dream of being part of a real family threatened by a decades-long pack war.
Most high school girls dream of popularity; all Giselle wants is a home. A child of the foster system, she's been rejected by more families than she can count. Being a werewolf in a world where supernatural creatures are not out and proud, is rough.
No one wants a freak!
When a family of shifters offers to adopt her, it's like a dream come true. Until Giselle discovers they're involved in a deadly turf war dividing the wolf packs in her city. When the body of a shifter is found in the desert, Giselle's new foster family is accused of the murder. Lines are drawn in the sand and, before she's even unpacked her bags, Giselle is forced to chose a side.
Unless she can unearth the truth before war breaks out, joining a pack might just send Giselle six feet under instead of back into the foster system.

This is a brilliant read.
Wonderful well written plot and story line that had me engaged from the start.
Love the well fleshed out characters and found them believeable.
Great suspense and action with wonderful world building that adds so much to the story.
Can't wait to read more of these.
Recommend reading.

I can’t believe how fast I burned through this book. One sitting and before I knew it, I’d devoured the whole thing. Really fun read with lots to like … I’m sure I won’t remember to list them all but here are some:

🌘 Shifters.
🌘 Foster home / group home setting.
🌘 High school/complete with bullies & cliques / identifiable, despite having magic & shifters.
🌘 Magic.
🌘 Witches.
🌘 Old war / family rivalries.
🌘 Drama!
🌘 Action.
🌘 Wit.
🌘 A misunderstood villain who redeems himself.

I’d absolutely read more from this author, stoked to have discovered a new fave.

Just Like Me?

This series must be read in order. This is the first book. I can't wait to read "Curious Little Werewolf"!

Giselle has been in and out of foster homes her whole life. She never knew her parents... She never even met anyone like her before. Her dirty little secret always comes out and the family ALWAYS sends her back into the system. The idea of a "Forever Home" is something she never even dares dream of until she meets a whole family with two adopted daughters exactly like her. Has she finally found somewhere to belong? Will they truly accept her? Can they love her? Or Will she find some way to screw this placement up too? Can she finally have a family? Does she even dare hope? Why does the hottest guy in school keep snubbing her?

***This series is suitable for young adult through adult readers who enjoy paranormal young adult romance with plenty of magic and mystery :)

The perfect placement slowly unravels as a past that tore apart the community comes back to haunt again. Different take on shifter lore and community that was intriguing enough that I looked forward to my daily commute. The narrator was easy to listen to and did a good job differentiating the voices.

More a mystery thriller with a paranormal twist than a teen shifter romance (though there is quite a bit of that too, it does stay clean and takes a backseat to the mystery). Definitely YA, as the main characters are young and impetuous and think themselves invincible. More sisterly drama than love triangle tension.

Book 1 in a series, this could be read as a standalone and the central concern in the story is completely resolved. However, there are still A LOT of questions I have about the world that has been created as well as the ramifications of a few things so good thing there are more books :)

I ended up listening to this book twice on audible as i found since i had it on whilst cleaning etc there were bits i missed that then didn't make sense later on, so you need to pay attention to keep up with whats going on.
For myself i found this book a little too bland for my tastes, i prefer something with a bit more suspense whilst still being a paranormal romance.
That said for the start of what i beleive in a series this is still pretty good and was easy to listen to a mostly to follow when i actually paid attention! For me though the narrator, Kelli Tager did a brilliiant job bringing this book and the characters to life.
Would i listen/read another book by Katie Salidas? Yes i probably would as long as it was still about shifters etc
Would i listen to another book narrated by Kelli Tager? Definitely. I thought she did an amazing job with the characters and the story and you could easily tell which character she was speaking for.

The author is able to improve a world we all know and love. The world of things that go bump in the night and all beings paranormal. She is able to create so many characters but keep them unique at the same time, giving each of them their own voice.

Giselle is one feisty wolf with a huge chip on her shoulder which makes he super relatable, not that we all are werewolves who can’t control themselves…. However I feel like everyone at some point in life has felt like they did not belong. Like they weren’t good enough. That’s Giselle from page one and we read as she grows in to a young woman who not only ends a war but is able to allow herself joy and love.

I really enjoy the plot and its BIG twist (no I won’t ruin it for you!) The twist really sets the whole story in to a fast paced motion that you as the reader eat up and try to keep up with.

This author is such an amazing and talented writer, it blows me away every time I read one of her Books!

The storyline for this book was Amazing! Being adopted myself I really connected with the main character in this story. The storyline was so vivid in its descriptions and so realistic that you could imagine it happening the way that it has been written!

The characters in this book are brilliant to read about! I love them and can't wait to read about them more! I loved the strength that Giselle has especially after e everything that she has been through in her young life. I thought Damian and Asher were also great to read about and I enjoyed them both in equal measure!

I highly recommend this book and I am super excited to read more!!

I really enjoyed Katie Salidas book. This is a great coming of age book of a foster child who has moved through the system so dang often your head will spin. She just happens to be a Werewolf, that could cause problems. We all have our demons don't we? I love Katies' works because often they are relevant, in an urban setting with a supernatural spin. Trying to fit in during high school is hard enough let alone being strange. Now a days strange is popular but often just wishing to be normal can be huge too. This book just flows and all the details are there, in her world building, character development and continuity. And Las Vegas what could be weirder than that, I love it. From teens to adults I know you will really enjoy this adventure.

Giselle has been shuffled from foster home to foster home. When she's dropped off at her newest foster home she finds she may just have found her forever family. Problem is there may be a war between her new family and the other pack in the area. She is afraid of joining a family at war and wants to figure out if there is a way to stop it. Giselle is fierce, determined and stubborn. However, she makes more headway in finding out what happened than anybody involved. I love her character and determination to right the wrongs that started it all. On top of all that, she has the attention of a handsome witch and the cutest werewolf at the school. This is an exciting and unpredictable book and well worth reading.

Excellent New Werewolf Series!
Giselle Richards dreams of finding a family who will love and accept her just as she is but when she lands in the Martinez household on a full moon she’s sure she’ll be sent packing the very next day. Be careful what you wish for! She’s ecstatic to discover they are all werewolves just like her but hesitant to commit when she learns about the feud between them and a rival pack. A wonderful new series with heartwarming characters, plenty of teenage angst, trust issues, suspense, intrigue, a twist, werewolves, witches, a curse and a feisty wolf heroine. I love the quirky characters, unique storyline and wonderful HEA ending. I look forward to reading the next book. Enjoy!

Very interesting story plot that follows Giselle who is a shifter that has had to spend her known life in foster care, one after another. No one keeping her for very long. In 2 more years she will have her own freedom. She doesnt wish to meet more placements but eventually does and what she finds is a surprise to her.

Narrator does change the voices for each character which helps you know who is talking. I will say that the case worker did have an annoying tone, which was kinda funny.

Sadly I havent gotten to reviewing all my books that I have read/listened to in the past (when I had my operation and needed something to occupy me without moving), so I have been re-listening

I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

3.5 stars. Giselle is a very likable lead. She is strong, strong willed and sensible. I liked her caution and her determination. Once there are questions raised she doesn’t just blindly take anyone’s word for things and rush into committing to a pack despite a lifetime of wanting a family. Instead she pushes for answers and continues to investigate til she figures out the real story, then uses her knowledge to fix things and broker peace. I must say I was a little surprised with who she ended up with but her reasons for the decision just reinforce how sensible and grounded she is although I am not convinced that things wont change on the romance front in later books.

Giselle has been in the foster system since she was a baby. But when her wolf emerges in her teen years, no one wants her. She is moved from foster family to foster family. The problem? She's been placed with human families, so no one to understand her or explain what she is going through. She is finally placed with a family who could become her forever family, but they are at war with another pack, and have been for years. Can an outsider like Giselle see both sides and heal the rift? And what does she do about the two hot and handsome boys she is attracted to? One is from the witch coven and the other from the rival pack.

Wow family feuds can be deadly

This is an excellent book, Giselle is introduced to her new foster family and really wants to fit in but with her little secret that seems impossible. Then she smells wolf on her new foster mother and thinks that maybe it will work after all.
Throw in another pack of wolves, some witches and a feud going back years and involving them all and suddenly everything is not so simple. Getting attacked by a lone wolf should have stopped her, but Giselle is not one to give up easily.
This book shows the intricacies of pack life and how it's interactions have consequences. A must read for all lovers of the supernatural world.
