I was privileged to receive a copy of Jezebel's Daughter before it's June 2nd debut in exchange for a honest review.
My Review:
Whew! What a twisty-good read. My grandmother used to make soup and what was great about it was that she threw everything in there. But all the ingredients came together for some seriously good soup. Jezebel's Daughter was all that and then some. Jacquelin Thomas had romance, repentance, redemption, revenge, remorse, retaliation, religion which made for a sizzling read. She weaved multiple characters and their storylines toward a finale that left me stunned and wanting more. All I can say is nothing turned out how I imagined and there were a few "Oh, snap" moments in this soap opera. Great storytelling. And look at that cover. Can we say hot?
The sequel to Jezebel is more of a mystery than anything, because the reader is trying to figure out "Who pushed Jessie Belle". The worst behind with her husband, Raynor, who is determined to avenge his wife's accident. But in his search, he learns things Jessie Belle that will literally change his life.
There were many twists and returns that kept me on the edge of my seat ,while leaving me wanting more. I wish I could give it 5 stars, but there were a few errors towers the end. I highly recommend this book.
The twists, the turns, and the drama all rolled up into a great storyline. It connected well and brought more closure than I originally thought I needed. Usually, I get confused when there are many characters/povs to follow but I didn't and was able to easily read through. Jessie Belle's daughter made the theories of Nature vs Nurture realistic in that even though her daughter wasn't raised by Jessie Belle, she was her mother's daughter. The similarities were unreal. I am glad that Traynor finally took off his glasses of blindness and accepted who Jessie Belle really was. I think him being able to know of all the evil that consumed her will eventually help him to know her as a complete person. Jessie Belle was highly flawed but it's who she was as a woman. Another great book in the series and I'm beyond ecstatic to read Jezebel's Revenge!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It held my interest to the end. I of the way Ms Thomas touched on love, healing and forgiveness. Then the issue on mental illness which effects many people. Black people as a culture shun therapists but Ms Thomas touched on how therapy and proper medication can aid persons who suffer through this uncurable disease as it is in fact a disease. It was refreshing for once to read a book that was totally not just abut pure romance where we can almost always predict the end. Jezebel's daughter kept me in suspense. I will recommend this book to my friends.
I had to gather my thoughts before I wrote this review, can you say Dynamite in my JJ. Voice. Jezebel's Daughter brought you so many oohs and awes. Traynor has buried his wife and he is grieving very hard but he is determined to make the person who killed his wife pay for what they have done. Jacqueline Thomas did an outstanding job on this book and the surprise at the end had me smiling from ear to ear.
Jessie belle had did a lot of things to a lot of people and now she wants forgiveness from her husband but he still don't believe his wife did the thing's she did until she's gone and the end of the story . Learning to forgive is hard when some one has hurt you so bad very good story the end was the bomb can't wait until the next book come out
Once again, Jacquelin Thomas has spun another intriguing tale of love, lies and redemption. I thought Jessie Belle was off the chain, well some of these women in Jezebel's Daughter made her look like a saint. That's why I love Jacquelin's female characters. They're strong, resilient and not to be toyed with. So looking forward to Jezebel's Revenge.
It has been years since I read the initial book in this series but I remember it to be a good book. While I did enjoy Jezebel's Daughter, I felt it made me work a little hard to read it. I believe I had to press to get into it instead of it pulling me in. With that said, Jacqueline Thomas is one of a few authors on my favorites list and I will continue to read her books including the continuation of this series.
I enjoyed this novel with a lot of secrets and surprises. Jessie Belle may be gone but she had a lot of skeleton in her closet and Traynor said it was like he didn't know her at all. Trying to find the next book in the series without having to buy it. Natalie, Traynor carried a grudge against you for a while until he found out the truth and had to apologize. It was about forgiven others even when we don't want to but we can't continue to live in this world hating each other.
Even though it's been several years since reading "Jezebel", this book picked right up where it left off, intertwining the past and the present to bring the story full circle. What a great read!
Five Star was given and I liked it all. It brought to mind of Love faith Trust forgiveness sadness . Understanding of scriptures from the Bible. So touching and uplifting.
WOW What a great read by this author. So much excitement from cover to cover I couldn't put the book down. Jesse Belle still created chaos even from the grave.
Family secrets, they have a way of eventually coming of the the deep, dark closet that they have been hiding in for years. But the truth shall set you free.
I read the first book in this series years ago. The plot was good but there were a lot of characters which made things a little confusing at times. This is a book that you have to must read in the correct order. Otherwise it's a bit confusing.
Jessie Bell may have died but that is not the end of the story. She left a diary behind which helped clarify some the the things which were happening after her death. Her husband thought he knew all about her previous life but found out that he didn't. Now one of the persons who hated her was thought to be the person who pushed she out of the window which lead to her death.
Natalia Winter who has vowed revenge because she felt Jessie was responsible for her father's suicide.
Reina Cannon has spend her young life hating Jessie and now plan to become a part of her family by getting the attention of Jessie's husband. What a story.
Chrissy Barton is another one who wanted to take revenge on Jessie for things she had done or had done to her.
There are four or more people who have to learn how to forgive if they are going to continue living after some amazing truth become known.
I am looking forward to the next sequel Jacqueline Thomas can tell a story.
I wasn't disappointed!!! This book had me baffled for the majority of the book and that is normally hard to do!!! I had two ideas, but couldn't be definite (I don't want to give away details and spoil it!)...was I surprised, but I was right!! Forgiveness is the theme here....yes, Jessie Bell was conniving and selfish, but the other characters could have persevered if they had forgiven her and moved on! Great read and I'm preparing myself for "Jezebel's Revenge" - September 2015!...BEWARE of tons of flashbacks, but they are helpful this book, hopefully they won't be needed for the 3rd Jezebel book.
Thoroughly enjoyed this book which is a sequel. I don't know where to start. Jessie bell was something else. She was a person who was not very nice. Thought she was better than most and acted as though she was above all. Her lies came to fruition after her death. Her twin girls were messed up, in fact one of her own daughters pushed her over her balcony. The other daughter killed 4 people and attempted to kill another. The moral of this book based on faith and forgiveness. Don't let the title fool you.
You can't hide from the past, what's done in the dark will come out in the light. This author gives us a lot to think about as she shows generational deceit is contagious. It will fester and grow. The sins of the father can be visited upon the son (in this case mother and daughter).
Well after all this time there's a sequel and Jessie Bell still leaves a mess behind after her passing. Her husband Traynor comes to know her for who she truly is.
Jezebel’s Daughter by Jacqueline Thomas is awesome….Jessie Belle was a woman that was loved and hated by many. This is an awesome book that talks about love, hate, betrayal, lust and forgiveness.
Loved the book. The twists that came with it I so didn't expect. Didn't realize there was a first one till half way through so now going back to read that one. Would highly recommend this book.
