A Beautiful Struggle
Katrina Mahoney lives in Western Sydney, Australia. She has a very full life attending university to study a law degree, training for triathlons and now she is working part time as well. She couldn't possibly find time for a relationship, especially after her last one ended so catastrophically.

Halfway through the book, I'm most certain that I'll give it 4 stars, but at 89%, I'm not so sure anymore.
Why, you might ask? I'll tell you later.
But first, let's get down to the nitty gritty.
A Beautiful Struggle is the story of Katrina , which after the demise of her relationship was left with her best friend, David. He's always there for her, they're actually like a couple. She later on found a job in a law firm where she met, the gorgeous, SWOON-WORTHY, HOTHOTHOT junior solicitor, (and my new book boyfriend), Elliot.
It was a case of instant attraction when they met. Sparks fly. But there's a problem, there is a strict "No Dating Policy" in their office. They are also jealous bitches who will do everything to keep them apart. But, nothing can stop them. They had an affair (and the sex was HOTTTTT!), but they have to keep it a secret.
And so their love story begins...
So everything was going smooth, I was loving the book even more as I'm reading it up until the author screwed it up, when Elliot messed up (not in a major way coz I really think it's pretty lame and it can be easily fixed). But, that's not the reason I'm mad, it was until 89% that the author did something that turned everything upside down (I'm exaggerating. LOL) and pissed the hell outta me. Sorry but I can't tell you what it is, I don't wanna spoil it for you, but here's my reaction:
Lilliana Anderson, how could you?! Tsk tsk. You made me fall in love with Elliot, and then you have to do that? Why do you have to fvck up with my feelings? (I told you guys I'm not gonna spoil it out for you, but oh well, read at your own risk) --> I'm gonna borrow a quote from your book, but I'm gonna personalize it just for you.
“You hurt me a lot, Lilliana . You made me feel special, you told me you loved me; you let me love Elliot and then poof,” I used my hands to mime the word, “it was all gone and all I got was a bullcrap that they can't be together and not so much as an explanation from you. That hurt me greatly, Lilliana , it broke my heart. But it’s you, I feel most sorry for,” she knitted his brows together as she listened to me. “You’re the one that lost out here Lilliana . You gave Elliot up for HIM, HIM Lilliana! I just can’t understand that.”
Haha. Sorry bout that. Emotional reader here.
Now, I'm just gonna pretend that that scene at 89% never happened, and the scenes after that were nonexistent. I'm just gonna make my own ending that Elliot fought for Katrina and they lived happily ever after.
Still, after everything, Team Elliot!

I'd like to say a HUGE thank you to each and every one of you for reading A Beautiful Struggle. It's my first work of fiction and it was an absolute joy to write.
The response I've had so far has been amazing. I never imagined that I would even get looked at this early on in my writing career, so I feel very blessed that so many of you are reading and enjoying my voice.

I loved the book up until the last couple pages.... Really? I mean really?! Ugh
I just want to clarify why I didn't like the ending. The author spent like 88% of the book developing the story between Elliot and Katrina only to spend barely 100 on David and Katrina. And while ok I can understand they have been friends since they were kids, its still not believable. Its impossible to go from the connection that K & E shared and all that sexual tension and turn it off like a switch. There is no way humanly possible that anyone could do that. I felt like Katrina was robbed of her happy ending and given a crappy one that was very predictable. Because for some reason Guys and Girls just CAN'T be friends right? NO! NO NO NO..... I want to know what happens to Elliot he must have been so heart broken presumably because it would have taken him time to get over what happened and not turn it off like some sort of robot

OKAY, BREATHE.
My reaction when I finished reading the book:
I LOVED IT.
..but, up to now I'm still confused if I am for Team David or Team Elliot. Let me tell you guys, Elliot and Katrina spent a lot of time together in this book. On the other hand even though David and Katrina are best friends, I feel like their time together on the book was not enough to justify the ending, but, I still give it a 5, because recently, the author, Lil, sent me the final copy of the book, and now, it has a prologue, which I loved! Because it gave me a glimpse of what Katrina and David were like when Christopher, Katrina's ex, was still in her life.
Also, I was supposed to give this story 4 out of 5 stars BUT! I have read Lil's blog and now, she is writing A BEAUTIFUL FOREVER and I know that she is gonna make us all happy by sharing the story of Elliot through his own eyes because YES, IT IS GONNA BE WRITTEN ON ELLIOT'S POV!! :)
Uhm, I don't really know how to tell you a review without spoiling you some details, but here I go...
First of all, I loved the fact that the author gave descriptions of the characters, especially Katrina, bit by bit. She didn't do it all in one sentence or paragraph. She let the readers take in a few descriptions and then after a few paragraphs, she would again give some hints on how one character looks like or appears to be like.
I loved Katrina's reaction when she saw Elliot!
She thought: "I don’t know how else to describe him except to say that he was beautiful; those blue eyes, that full mouth, his light golden-brown hair and those broad shoulders!"
See! The attraction was there right away, and I know, that deep down inside, even though Katrina was trying not to be bothered or not to blush, I know that this is probably what she's doing in her mind:
HAHA LOL! I think that would also be my reaction if I see David!
Well, back to the story. For David, I loved his character because he is always looking out for Katrina because he doesn't want her to be hurt again, and as a guy best friend, he would do anything he can just to protect her. You can really feel his sincerity and his concern. And as for Katrina, even though her physique implies that she is a strong woman, in the story, the author still showed some vulnerable side of her.
Some areas that I would want to be clarified:
Overall, even though other people said that Lil, the author, was a heart breaker because of something that happened in the latter part of the story, but for me, I loved it. I love the unpredictability and the excitement that I felt when I found THAT one out. ;)
Seriously, I can't put this down that's why I only read it for almost five or six hours, because I always want to know what will happen next and now that I finished reading it...
I CAN'T WAIT FOR THE NEXT BOOK TO BE OUT!!!!!

Besides a few typos, the book was decently written. Take that as a compliment or a critique, your choice. I thought the writing-style and plot were rather juvenile. A Beautiful Struggle, read more as a heavily sexualized YA novel than one for adults. And with the bitchiness and immaturity of Katrina's colleagues, it seemed to turn into Gossip Girl. Oh well, I should've read the book description in-depth beforehand. The read was a bit slow for my tastes and took awhile for anything exciting to happen. Also, the participants of the love triangle seemed rather oblivious that they were actually... in a love triangle. Denial isn't just a river folks!!
Character development left a lot to be desired as Katrina was relegated to a lust-filled, flip-floppy, ditz, over guys that were impeccably flawed. You get pushed through a glass door... and no one *makes* you call the police, get a restraining order or seek therapy? In fact, you continue to have contact with said aggressor? Against my better judgement, I let that tidbit slide. But then author took an easy way out by ending Kat's and Elliott's relationship through his father's interference. And Kat didn't even find out about it directly from the source. Then all of a sudden, their relationship was just kaput. Kat and Elliott never talked about it, until it was too late. Really?? And you expect me to believe that Elliot is 25 years old? But couldn't even fess up to his girlfriend about what happened? No bueno. If there had been more mention about Elliott and his father's relationship, and how intimidated Elliott was, credibility could've been extended to this situation.
Furthermore, the author took an easy way out again by expecting readers to believe that through this weird love-triangle, there was never an explicit confrontation between David and Elliott. Two guys like/love the same girl but they never confront each other?! The author deprived us of much deserved juicy drama after the incredibly slow start of the book. David and Elliott both just played in their little worlds of make-believe, both oblivious to Kat and David's killer attraction to each other. David repeatedly says "Kat, I can't be your friend and see you with another man," but ditzy Katrina doesn't pick up on the blatant subtext: "Katrina, I love you way more than a friend, pick me or Elliott." Again I say, really? In conclusion, it was a beautiful struggle for me to finish the book once I realized the direction it was going. It was clearly written for a different audience that can overlook the fundamental flaws that I've mentioned above.

I don't know what to think about this book. In the beginning I totally love it. It was full of passion, desire and romance, but then it all fell apart for me. I hate to write a bad review on a book because I appreciate all work the authors put into writing, but with this book I did not appreciated the twist in the story. I lost interest in it and I only finished it because I am bit a compulsive that needs to finish something once started. Katrina character felt like she didn't know what she wanted out of life and kept switching to whatever makes her suffers less. I was expecting the big sacrifice out of Elliot and the love triumph all action to come. Never did till it was to late. And for David it was like he kept picking up all pieces everyone let in Katrina life. Very disappointed with the book.

I needed to ponder this before I was able to post a review. I had to sit and think about the characters, how they behaved, interacted, how they were presented, what they said in certain situations and then the outcome.
Most of this book was fairly consistent...UNTIL THE END. None of what happened in the end even made sense. I feel I wasted almost an entire book investing in characters who not only threw caution to the wind, but laughed in the face of authority to sneak around, spend time together, develop a relationship and fall in love only to have the one who initiated it and put the most on the line to just cease contact and walk away without so much as a "Go ₣ὕ€✂ yourself." This ending made ZERO sense to the way the characters were presented and behaved most of this book.
Given the past that Katrina went through, it also made zero sense that the other man in her life would make a play so much later in the game, especially since he did not seem all that altered before. He only seemed to take up issue with who she dated once he seemed to think that Katrina was happy, but even still he went about his life spiting her, doing his thing and leaving her at a bar to get a piece.
I never once believed in the end that Katrina's feelings for the one were not real, nor did I feel her feelings for the other were real. Again, it made ZERO sense that after all the time they had been friends she would out of the blue care what he did out of jealously. The relationship she ended up with seemed more out of convenience than actual love, and this book took a dive for me when after a few weeks or so after the confrontation at the Christmas party, when supposedly things were put out there to force one to reevaluate the situation, that there wasn't a complete change, an apology and trying to right the wrong and repair the actual believable relationship.
None of this made any sense to me, and the epilogue even less so. It was clear that there was still something there and the fact that so much time later she was still with the "comfortable, reliable shoe" just showed me how much easier it was for her to move on to a security net because she was too much of a coward to let go, take a risk and hope the one she truly wanted to take the chance on would come around and catch her.
So insanely inconsistent and unrealistic. After the trauma she went through, to allow herself to let her guard down to try a relationship only to be like "oops, that wasn't real" is ridiculous. I feel like I spent too much time invested in a couple that turned out to play a joke on me...I found this a good read until the end, then it was over for me. I am still shaking my head and not in a good way.

I have to provide a disclaimer for this, after reading the first chapters on amazon I contacted the author to ask if there were anymore coming. She offered me a copy of the full book in return for a review on Goodreads. I agreed so this is my first review on this site. Here goes...
Obviously, by my 5 stars you know I loved it. I read a little bit of it everyday to savour the characters lives, I loved, laughed and cried along with them every step of the way.
I was so sad when it was over as I had to say goodbye, but I was really happy with the ending. It would be nice if there was another book to see what happens with the characters later, especially Elliot.
A little bit about the characters, Katrina, the main character is a 20 year old uni student, who starts working in a law firm as a librarian to kick start her own law career after uni. On her first day she meets Elliot, a drop dead gorgeous junior solicitor who she is instantly drawn to. It seems as though the feeling is mutual but there is a problem. Their office has a no dating policy, so it made pursuing anything a moot point as they could loose their jobs.
I loved David, he's Katrina's best friend. They have a really lovely relationship that becomes strained when Elliot enters the mix. David has helped Katrina through a really horrible break up with her ex Christopher and is scared that Katrina will get hurt again. He seemed like he cared really deeply for Katrina even if he was angry for a while.
There are also a couple of really awful girls that Katrina works with, namely Bianca. I wouldn't mind throttling her if I ever get my hands on her.
When Katrina and Elliot do finally succumb to their attraction, this book gets pretty steamy. So it's definitely an adult read. I wouldn't go giving it to my mum!
The book is set in Sydney Australia, I have been to the club mentioned in the book so it was fun reading about the characters there.
I would recommend this book for anyone who loves a nice easy romance with characters that pull at your emotions.

There are also a couple of really awful girls that Katrina works with, namely Bianca. I wouldn't mind throttling her if I ever get my hands on her.
When Katrina and Elliot do finally succumb to their attraction, this book gets pretty steamy. So it's definitely an adult read. I wouldn't go giving it to my mum!
The book is set in Sydney Australia, I have been to the club mentioned in the book so it was fun reading about the characters there.
I would recommend this book for anyone who loves a nice easy romance with characters that pull at your emotions.

This was a a pretty good book. It was a sweet story about finding love where you would least expect it. I felt that too much time was spent with Elliott and Katrina and not enough time spent on wrapping the story up as a whole - you will understand better what I am saying when you read it. It does have a HEA for our main characters but I did feel bad for the guy that lost the battle so to speak. I thought the second book in this series was better.

I'm going to start out by saying that I read a spoiler about this book before I read it, as well as the synopsis of the next book, A Beautiful Forever, and I'm really glad I did or I would have been really mad. Not that it was a bad book, it was good, but did not stand out, for the most part, except for one HUGE thing. I'm not going to put any spoilers in this review, I did, however, put them in my blog post. I don't normally do that but I made an exception here.
This book takes place in Australia, Katrina is a law student and starts an internship in the library of a law office. Elliot is a solicitor (as in lawyer, not door-to-door salesman) in the same office. There is an instant attraction despite a no dating policy and a bunch of catty, jealous women in the office. Katrina has an interesting back story from her last relationship and Elliot is completely hot and loveable.
There is a big shocking twist at the end that may not have made all the readers happy, but it definitely made this book stand out. What made this twist acceptable to me was that it's true to life. Everything in life doesn't always make sense. Relationships aren't always tied up neat and tidy with a bow. Life is messy and it's not always black and white. Thankfully, we get a little more closure in the next book, A Beautiful Forever, which I just finished and very much enjoyed.

I am so mad at the ending of this book. I am only giving it 3 stars because I am team Elliott. I enjoyed reading it and would have read it faster if I wasn't so busy. I am so distraught at how Elliott let his father control his life. I wish he could have gotten his stuff together sooner. Spoiled rich kids make me sick in books like these. Just like Kyle in Accidentally on Purpose. I did like David as well and he was an great friend to Katrina. I could pick up on his jealousy early on in the book and at first wanted them to hook up until I fell in love with Elliott. Ugh is all I can say. I feel like my heart has been broken from this ending and only ice cream will make it better. LOL!!!!!

I really wanted to rate this book more than 3 stars but there were a few things that kept me from doing so. It broke my heart, really, to rate it just with 3 stars considering how affected I was with the turn of events. Whether I felt upset or happy about a certain part of book, it's a good sign - it means the writer was able to draw me in. But I guess no matter how much I got drawn in, I still felt like rating it less than what I originally wanted.
Now I liked how everything went down, even if it was insta love (I normally disliked story lines that involved insta love). I think what I liked most about it was how natural the attraction was between Elliot and Katrina. From the onset you could already feel the heat between them and it only seemed logical that they end up together.
...that is, until the conflict came. This is where I had my heart broken into a million little pieces and got rolled over by a giant dump truck then vacuumed away. I may not have been forced into liking either one in the beginning but now... I was left hanging without so much as a thorough/deeper explanation Yeah, sure, the reason was there but it wasn't fleshed out. I just ended up feeling confused and dissatisfied. I mean, that's it?
I did like how it ended, despite my earlier rants about the conflict. I think she gave the readers the happily ever after (we) they so deserve. After going through such a whirlwind, we want a great ending, damn it! And that's exactly what Anderson provided.
I think Anderson's attention to detail contributed to my enjoyment. It's actually my first time to read a book that's set in Australia so I liked that she gave descriptions of certain places; it made imagining easier. I also appreciated the vivid descriptions of Katrina - her athleticism, spunk, and vulnerability. In addition to that, I liked the stark contrast between David and Elliot. David's more outgoing and vibrant. One the one hand I think Elliot's a box compared to David and he usually keeps to himself. Why he's like that, I still don't know, and I'd very much like to. Which is why I'm eagerly waiting for the sequel, A Beautiful Forever. I hope I get answers to all my annoyingly unanswered questions.
Overall, I liked A Beautiful Struggle. It was the right mix of lovable characters and a strong love story that drowned out the insta love angle for me. I'd still recommend you to read it because who knows, you might be more decisive than I was when choosing between (dare I say it) Team David or Team Elliot (why did I have to say it).

As I read many books with angst and tension, I was fully prepared for any this talented author might throw my way. However, it was sweet, delectable, HOT (in parts) with just a touch of anguish to keep you engrossed. She wrote her characters believably, so prepare to love gorgeous, man-whore best friend David and hate the office bitches accordingly. Other supporting cast were given appropriate air time, although, reading more of the back-story of some characters, if only to flesh out the story, would have also been good.
Without giving spoilers, if you enjoy a fun romance, with likeable, believable characters, witty banter, a touch of angst, you will enjoy aptly named A Beautiful Struggle.

I was so lovin' this book until the end!! I fell in LOVE with Elliot! I LOVED him with Katrina!! They had such AMAZING chemistry & passion! I was their biggest cheerleader!! I really LOVED that she had a FANTASTIC friend in David BUT he disappointed me when he continued to befriend & sleep with the "nasty" girl she worked with knowing how she & her friend treated Katrina!!! They were EVIL!!!! I do understand that she has a history & a strong connection with David but that connection is what makes their FRIENDSHIP UNIQUE & SPECIAL!! I was DEFINITELY TEAM ELLIOT & STILL AM!! I loved David too but he is not for Katrina!! I'm guessing that Elliot moves on with his life in the 2nd book & possibly falls in love, BUT, I'm not sure I can read it! My heart is with Elliot & Katrina & I don't want to betray that!! If I thought for ONE MINUTE that THEY would find one another again, then YES I would be on board for book 2!!! Lilliana Anderson made me fall in hard for Elliot & then BAM...broke my heart!!!! TEAM ELLIOT!!!!

Ok, I never write reviews because there are many other people out there that are way smarter and have better things to say than I do, but I have to write one for this book. Like other comments you may see I loved the book until 85%. This is my own selfish feeling but I Hated what the author did. The connection and love we felt for the main characters were just omitted in 10 pages like they were never there. The book contained exciting, emotionally, and light scenes that you had to love, but then the twist comes and it happens in the last 10% of the book. I feel like everything the author worked up for was just yanked out from under me and it pissed me off and I felt something missing. I would have rather she left us with a cliff hanger of a choice then make the decision in the final 10% of the book. With the alternate ending I would have probably given this book 4-5 stars.

I liked the storyline, but I felt like it was a skeleton of what it could have been. This was a great story ARC, but i wanted there to be more rounded out characters. I want the story fleshed out more. I loved that Kat and David had been friends forever. I wish their relationship prior to Chris had been more explored, since it wasn't you don't really "get" how close these two were until near the end of the book. I still don't understand why Kat had any contact after what happened with Chris. The "Mean Girls" were well understood and their motivations clear. I loved Elliott. I felt that up until the end, his was the most fully explained character. I love the ending though. I am going to read the next book. I believe that this storyline, while presented poorly, was good. I believe this author can reach above this and improve.

This is a simple story about finding your one true love. Sometimes what we crave for sits right in front of us, we're just too preoccupied to realize it. Luckily, life happens, and somehow, through its twists and turns, we get another chance to claim our HEA.
The easy, smooth writing makes the characters easy to relate to. The honesty of Katrina's voice is very refreshing. This book is a sumptuous, easy, light read.

I loved this book. There was so much to it that it drew me in and I finished it in a day. I couldn't put it down. A few things were a bit different for me being from the US and not Australia but once I got past that........the rest is history. I fell in love with Elliot/Evan and was just as heartbroken as Katrina was but things happen for a reason. You will definitely not be disappointed in this book. READ IT!

Another hopeless romantic book... But IMHO she ended up with the wrong guy.... Team Elliott all the way...their relationship was electric! Can't wait for the next one, a great page turning read will look out for more books by this author, I thoroughly enjoyed it!!

I really enjoyed this book. Like I said in my first status update, it's the typical girl meets hot collegue and dates him on the DL, shit hits the fan, girls are jealous, co-workers are gossiping, best friend relationships are getting ruined, the girl is question is unsure about the whole deal and the guy... that guy is just being a guy and somehow fxcks things up.
What I most liked about this book is that it didn't end how it was expected to. Without getting into too many details that might ruin the story, Katrina is a 20 year old woman who had just had a bad experience with her ex-boyfriend. After getting help and support from her longtime best friend David, she finally starts trying to move on. To further help her law career, her and David decide to get entry-level jobs at law firms to get their foot in the door. Katrina gets a job as a librairian. At her law firm, she sets her eye on a junior sollicitor, Eliott. He was good looking, hot, sexy and all of the girls in the office wanted him. They both caught each other's eyes and sooner than you know it, they started developing a relationship. However, due to their strict no dating policy at work, Eliott and Katrina must keep their relationship hidden so they won't get fired. During this time, Katrina develops friendships and ennemies at work, and her friendship with David starts getting tainted. After a couple months of dating, Eliott and Katrina decide to both find new jobs so they can be able to date each other freely. Contrary to what Katrina believed, her relationship with Eliott wasn't strong enough to sustain the pressure of work and Eliott's father.
Basically, I thought that even though Katrina and Eliott were having issues (mostly Eliott and his dad), they would still end up together at the end. Contrary to my beliefs, the story took a whole new turn.
One question that I was asking myself throughout the book. How does Katrina not see that David is madly in love with her? I mean, the guy was clearly protective of her because of her past relationship, but there were so many signs that concluded that he was in love with her. You could feel the jealousy and how could she have not gotten the hint when David stopped talking to her as much claiming that he didn't want to be her "fallback" guy AND when he starts dating Beth, a girl that Katrina dislikes at work??? It was clear and I guess it took her a lot to come to the realization that David was doing all of this because he loved her. I clearly got the hint and as soon as a had a gut feeling that David was in love with her, I started feeling uneasy about Katrina's relationship with Eliott. Her and Eliott could have ended up together, but too many things were just not in favor.
First of all, I don't know about y'all, but a 25-year old man that still lives under his dad's control just because he still wants everything payed for? That clearly takes away his manhood. Also, the fact that they could only see each other on weekends and not during the week, and the fact that they had to always be vigilent around each other would have gotten tiring, so I was really happy for them when they decided to both move on from that law firm, but Eliott obviously had to screw that up. In the end, his screw up made Katrina realize what she had been missing with David and I was REALLY happy with the ending.
Don't get me wrong, I really liked Eliott and he was a great guy, but he fxked up and costed himself the best relationship he ever had so I really feel bad for him. I'm glad that book 2 is about him. At least we can get closure.
A Beautiful Struggle was quite enjoyable and deserves its 4 star rating.

Before I begin my review, I should say that I recieved a copy of A Beautiful Struggle for a honest review.
Never have I read a book with a more fitting title. Wow... A Beautiful Struggle is a well written novel about a young woman's struggle to falling in love after an abusive relationship. The characters were well written and emotional. Not going to lie, the sex scenes were hot. And everything in between made this a very enjoyable book.
A Beautiful Struggle follows the life of Katrina, a 20 year old law student, as she starts a new job as a library of sorts for a law firm in Australia. She encounters a few people at work that throw curveballs at her. She meets and becomes friends with some women, while two ladies (and I use that term loosly) hate her for almost no reason. Early in the story, we learn that she recently ended a very abusive relationship that left her with many scars, both physical and emotional. A Beautiful Struggle is the story of Katrina learning to love again.
Then we meet David and Elliot. David is her best friend since childhood. He saved her from her ex-boyfriend and has stayed by her side through almost everything. He is just as torn about love as Katrina was and was fumbling through most of the book. But as the story progressed, I could see his inner struggle and I started to root for him. Elliot, a co-worker with Katrina, is her love interest. True, he had a massive TSTL (too stupid to live) moment, but he wasn't a bad guy. He was the guy that made the wrong decision and knew it. Both men loved Katrina and I think she would have been extremely happy with either one of them.
Why does the title fit the book so well? "It was time that I looked on our relationship for what it was - a beautiful struggle; one that we ultimately lost..." - There were so many struggles within one book. Katrina's inner struggle to allow herself to love again. David's struggle to stop Katrina from getting hurt again. And Katrina's and Elliot's struggle to make their relationship to work. It was so real, I felt like I was reading someone's diary.
I must admit that I had a difficult time starting the book, but once I really got into the story, I could not put it down. Each character had a different struggle and I think that made them more real. And the ending threw me for a loop. Did not see that coming. Kudos Ms. Anderson and thank you for taking me on one hell of a roller coaster ride through this book.

overall this was a lovely story. i liked that the female lead wasnt petite as in almost all romance books. she didnt bash her appearance to the point of nausea. but, the author mentioned how attractive elliott was too many times. i'm happy she chose the right person in the end, and some parts of the book were very humorous.
i also liked the premise of the story - best friends recognizing their love for each other. i adored david, but it could have been better. their relationship could have been explored more. i liked that elliott had a big, relationship-ending flaw. most romance novels portray these unrealistic tall handsome men as perfect.
the writing style made it a quick read though there are some typos and mistakes. i always wonder if that's the author, editor, or the fault of the e-book process.
two main complaints with this book: inconsistencies and katrina.
she was incredible dense, fickle, and lacked self-awareness.
katrina suggested the work place relationship be secret then complained about it.
i want a heroine to root for, but her dance floor sex repulsed me and using connor was cruel.
someone who cannot control their emotions isnt passionate but weak and selfish.
she has no female friends... that is suspect.
if she didnt want to talk to christopher, why didnt she get a new phone number?
she likes and misses abby who condones christopher's abuse. how dumb can you be? maybe i should just attribute it to immaturity but ugh it was annoying.

and why did she quit triathlons? not doing well in 1 competition and she quits! ugh
i also liked the premise of the story - best friends recognizing their love for each other. i adored david, but it could have been better. their relationship could have been explored more. i liked that elliott had a big, relationship-ending flaw. most romance novels portray these unrealistic tall handsome men as perfect.
the writing style made it a quick read though there are some typos and mistakes. i always wonder if that's the author, editor, or the fault of the e-book process.
two main complaints with this book: inconsistencies and katrina.
she was incredible dense, fickle, and lacked self-awareness.
katrina suggested the work place relationship be secret then complained about it.
i want a heroine to root for, but her dance floor sex repulsed me and using connor was cruel.
someone who cannot control their emotions isnt passionate but weak and selfish.
she has no female friends... that is suspect.
if she didnt want to talk to christopher, why didnt she get a new phone number?
she likes and misses abby who condones christopher's abuse. how dumb can you be? maybe i should just attribute it to immaturity but ugh it was annoying.

A Beautiful Struggle is a well written novel about a young woman's struggle to falling in love after an abusive relationship and allowing herself to love again. The characters were well written and emotional. and the sex scenes were amazingly hot. And everything in between made this a very enjoyable book.
A Beautiful Struggle follows the life of Katrina, a 20 year old law student, as she starts a new job as a library of sorts for a law firm in Australia. She meets and becomes friends with some women, while two ladies hate her for no reason. Early in the story, we learn that she recently ended a very abusive relationship that left her with many scars, both physical and emotional.
Then we meet David and Elliot. David is her best friend since childhood. He saved her from her ex-boyfriend and has stayed by her side through everything. As the story progressed, I could see his inner struggle (he loved Katrina with everything within him but just didn't want to take a risk on messing up their friendship by admitting how he truly felt)and I started to root for him. Elliot, a hot seductive co-worker, (who has his own issues ie...standing up to his father and living out his own dreams instead of trying to please his father)is her love interest. Both men loved Katrina and I think she would have been extremely happy with either one of them.
There were so many struggles within this one book. Katrina's inner struggle to allow herself to love again. David's struggle to stop Katrina from getting hurt again/admit his true feelings for her. And Katrina's and Elliot's struggle to make their relationship to work. It was so real, I felt like I was reading someone's diary.

Well shoot, I am very torn on this book. On one hand, I LOVED it, while on the other I was very disappointed and let down by it. I loved it because the passion between Elliot and Katrina was great! They seemed so completely made for each other and he seemed to be so completely in love with her the whole time. I was disappointed by it for that reason too. Why couldn't Elliot have gotten the HEA?? I really felt for him, and while it was completely clear even from the book blurb that David was in love with Katrina I wasn't his biggest fan because of the Beth situation. He could have tried to move on with someone neutral, not someone who he knew didn't get along with his best friend, and supposed woman he loved. I just wish there had been something more to Elliot to make me more okay with the fact that she didn't choose him. Usually I am all about the guy chasing after the girl, but she didn't even try to talk to him, and I just wonder if that would have been enough to fix them and have him open his eyes quicker.
I really am just torn between what my overall feeling was. If she or Elliot had managed to fix things, then this would unquestionably be a 5 star book, but because of the choices the author did make, I just can't give it that rating, and while I feel like 3 stars is a little too harsh of a punishment to the story, I don't think I can justify 4 stars. So where does that leave me?? I just don't know. I have never had such a difficult time rating a book before!

A sweet romance novel that didn't involve a traditional love triangle, there's a first time for everything I say. While reading the book, you can realize that David has been in love with Katrina for a long time but whatever it was holding him back kept him from happiness with her.
Katrina starts a new job and catches the eye of the office hot guy that no one can get. The chemistry between Katrina and Elliott is felt and you want it to work but when you start to have a secret relationship it never fairs well. I was happy when Elliott started to introduce her to his friends as his girlfriend and thought of maybe it will work out. The profess of the love was tender and just beautiful. The two office bitches need to get a life and just be friends with the green eyed monster.
I was torn between Elliott and David. I was livid when Elliott didn't man up to his dad about having a relationship with Katrina, just showed what type of man he really is. It was the cowardly wussy way of leaving a relationship but hey it's better for Katrina to know what kind of man Elliott is before it got too deep. Elliott is not a bad guy just need to man up with his dad.
I was happy in the end that Katrina and David got their happy ending but felt bad for Elliott. Like I said, he's not a bad guy just need to man up.

I just finished reading A Beautiful Struggle by Lilliana Anderson. This book took me a long time to read. Not because of the book or its content but because as a busy author myself with a day job to contend with, I tend to read slowly. But that just added to the experience of getting to know the wonderful characters in this book. Trina, Eliot and David became my friends during the process.
Now to be honest, this isn’t the sort of book I usually go for. As a guy I usually need more action mixed with my relationship dramas but I would say that this book is the exception to my self-imposed rules. Lilliana has a way of writing that made me care for her characters and I even talked to my own wife about them as if they were real. The erotic scenes were just that…erotic, was written with class and didn’t overtake the entire book, just enough for my tastes.
I won’t give away any spoilers but will say that I loved the ending and the path that Trina found herself on. I actually got chills when the title of the book was uttered in the content. She had indeed found herself on a beautiful struggle.
