About the author

Remington Kane

Remington Kane is an American author that writes action-packed thrillers. The author might be unfamiliar to some people because Remington Kane is actually a pseudonym for Donald Wells.

Donald Wells has garnered a reputation for writing darker and somewhat serious novels about killers. The author was born in New Jersey. He never really left and has since made a home there. Like most of his peers, Donald Wells was an avid reader as a child.

He spent many an hour devouring every book he came across. And it wasn’t long before he began to yearn for the chance to write. Like many aspiring authors, Donald Wells knew he had the capacity to tell stories. However, he was a little hesitant to venture into such uncharted waters, not only because he didn’t know where to start with regards to writing a book but also because he didn’t have confidence in his own ability to produce compelling fiction.

Again, like most notable authors, Donald meandered about for a while. Rather than going into publishing the first chance he got, Donald tried his hand at various odd jobs. He worked as an insurance salesman, a Real Estate Sales person, and even a Retail manager.

The jobs, though seemingly meaningless in the grand scheme of things, did wonders for the author’s writing capabilities. Whether he was driving trucks or cleaning floors, Donald gained insight into the workings of the world.

He met unexpected people and heard their intriguing stories. He came across numerous strange encounters and even participated in some of them. He essentially dipped into so many unique aspects of life that it came as no surprise that he had more than enough stories rattling around his head when it finally came time to write his first novel.

Not that many authors can claim to have been offered a chance to act as bodyguard to a drug dealer. Since getting his first book sold, though, Donald has finally settled in his career. The author loves writing novels and there is nothing he else he would rather be doing. The fact that he has found a way to make money out of his passion makes him one of the luckier individuals in the world.

By the time Donald Wells began writing as Remington Kane, he had already become established as a novelist with numerous thrillers under his name. However, writing as Remington practically took over his life.

This is because Donald has achieved more success writing as Remington Kane than he did producing novels under his real name. Kane is best known for the Tanner series of novels. Tanner is a hit man who accepts a job to take out a mob boss.

When he is betrayed and thrown into prison, Tanner thinks of little else besides getting revenge. And once he finally gets his freedom, the hit man becomes a one man army, engaging in a brutal way against a crime organization known as the Conglomerate.

Each new book sees Tanner raising the stakes by finding a new target that will sting the Conglomerate in ways they couldn’t possibly fathom.

Remington Kane has been praised for the Tanner novels because Tanner is such a refreshing hero. The protagonist is so average physically, devoid of the exaggerated traits that most action heroes seem to bear. If not for his natural fighting and survival instincts, one would be hard pressed to tell Tanner apart from any other ordinary man on the street.

Better than some of the earlier Tanner thrillers. This one splits the story between current time and an earlier time for Tanner. Heavy body count.

Wow. 'The Life & Death of Cody Parker' really hit me in the feels. The whole story line had me glued to the pages and I had a hard time putting it down. I loved the way Mr. Kane took me back to face Tanner's demons. So much happened that really put a force into action and lead Tanner into what and who he is. Truly a great read. I look forward to reading more. A definite must add to your tbr list.

Good Good Stuff!!

To say I was not expecting this turn in the story was like mind boggling! The writer finally gives us the back and birth story on Tanner. This was not only written well but the switching back and forth between the past and the present was done so very effortlessly. This was every thing and then some.

Best Twist Ending Ever

Even if u read none of the other books in the series or aren’t particularly interested in the genre….
This book is still worth reading to get to the twisty of twists that I’ve come across, it’s not just intriguing or surprising, it’s deeply satisfying.
It’s a well written, well polished book, so enjoy waiting for the big reveal.
Recommend to any Reader.

Interesting but confusing

The Life and Death of Cody Parker was very interesting, but the way it went between past and present was confusing. I enjoyed it over all but I had to re-read multiple pages to see where I was at.

Cool book it's good to learn more about Tanners origins and the legend.
Skipping between timeframes was interesting going back to see the history with obvious mirrors to the present. Overall an enjoyable book with no insecure flag waving rednecks. Refreshing.

Good book, but I don't care for those that keep going back and forth between present time and previous time; it gets a bit confusing. I almost decided there was way too much killing and it was spoiling the feeling of the book until the twist at the end. Because of that, 5 stars.

Life and Death: Book 5

An interesting story of how Tanner 7 came to be. I enjoyed the book although it was confusing with the many characters and the storyline of present and past that intertwined.

great twist

Five books in, a few things make better sense. This is a great series - fast, furious, and sometimes even a little humor.

The Life & Death of Cody Parker (a Tanner novel #5)

Remington Kane introduces you, the reader, to a young man whom Tanner meet back in the 90's and ties whatever happened then to actual events happening at the present time. Thanks to Tanner's escape via a train that passed under a pedestrian bridge giving a wounded Tanner the chance to jump into a railcar full of sand allowing him to evade the law and Sara. He further escapes by jumping into another railroad car of a train going the opposite direction. Then, he ends up back in Texas, back where he had been in the 90's. What he finds, only time has changed, the problems are the same. His unique skills are needed again. This is one story you won't want to miss. Thanks for letting me get to know Cody Parker.

Another great read!

I continue to enjoy the exploits of Tanner, his relationships, his no nonsense, logical approach to life. Tanner is refreshing to me, he continues to inspire me to carry on, despite the nonsense one faces on a daily basis. Thank you, Tanner. I cannot wait to continue following this series, thank you.

Must read

I appreciated that Kane gave us Tanner's back story in this book. Even though Tanner (we learn who he really is) is a cold blooded killer I couldn't help but fall in love with him, and find myself holding my breath while rooting him on. I hope he kills that bitch Sara!!

This was a really great read. It left a question unanswered, which bothered me a bit, but still a good story. Nice twist. I recommend to those who like a good thriller.
