This is an anthology of three historical erotic novellas about women who become widows due to a mining accident in Montana Territory and the new men who want them for their own. The premise is the same and yet each individual story is different in character to make them all interesting.
A Widow's Wants tell the story of Charlotte, who is out of money and time and about to lose her home and Liam, who is the bank owner. Charlotte was in a marriage of convenience without love and Liam has loved her since the first time he saw her, but couldn't have her due to her marriage. He teaches her what a real relationship can be and what a man and woman should be sharing. Explicit and hot.
A Widow's Needs tells the story of Rachel, who believes herself to be wanton and guilty of stealing her husband from his true intended and Seth, who is part owner of the mine and believes Rachel is avoiding him due to his large size and is afraid of him. Once misconceptions are cleared up, very hot sex ensues that includes ropes and a kitchen table.
A Widow's Desire tells the story of Leah, who was an heiress severely verbally abused by her dead husband and Ben, Who must teach her not all men are abusive and users. Ben has to give Leah the power in bed at first to show her how strong and beautiful she truly is. This was a short story with a lot of heart as well as heat.
I was very happy the writing was strong enough to make me care about all the characters even though each novella was very short. The sex was very explicit and leaves you hot, hot, hot! I love this author's erotic novels and now novellas, too!

Richard, Liam, Seth, and Aaron make a promise if either man marries and then dies, one of the other men would step up and take care of the widow. Then the unexpected happens, which forces Liam, Seth, and Ben to step up and honor their promise.
This is a collection of three short stories set in the old west like the Bridgewater Series. These stories are traditional romance and could be billed as a second chance at love. All three of the widows were married to men that were emotionally distant and each woman in turn was not physically satisfied. One deceased husband was physically abusive. Each woman had her own emotional problems but easily steps her new marriage. None of the characters really stood out and the formula for each story was similar. Overall, the stories were steamy and entertaining. It is a departure from her Bridgehaven series, but just as exciting.

Vanessa Vale writes erotic romance with a focus on mild BDSM, and she writes it well. Western Widows is one book with three short novellas about three unhappily married - and now blessedly widowed - women in 19th century frontier Montana. The historical aspect is not a focus, but it sets a good stage for the whirlwind courtship/marriage of each young widow to a handsome, well-off, kinky dominant man who teaches her the pleasures of sex and submission, much to everyone's total (and repeated) delight. This is well-done erotica, but still, it is all about the sex. If that isn't for you, just pass. Those who like their romance hot and kinky will have fun with the Western Widows.

This is a book about three couples that have to overcome problems to be together. The problems are all different, but the men prevail in the end. The couples live in the same town so they have that in common.
Vanessa's storytelling abilities shine in this book. She gets to the heart of the problem each couple face and show a way around them. Her books are full of HOT love scenes and heart palpitating words that get you involved in the stories.
I really loved this look at human fragility. She shines in this book.

I’m a fan of historical, western and alpha males so I’m easy to please with this one. Not to mention the heroes had dirty mouths and were hot hot hot!!!
The 3 stories have a very similar pattern and with some lines actually being repeated between them. Only major variety is in what each of the heroines were going through. But overall, still great reads.
Again, I’m a fan of this combination of themes and it’s still a 4 star for me!

When a mine collapsed it part behind three widows in need of protectors and these men step up to claim their brides. Hot and ⚡ fast. Not as hot as usually expected in a VV book but still good.

So excitingly Hot!!
Loved the stories of Charlotte and Liam, Rachel and Seth and last but not least Leah and Ben. Each story was hotter then the other. You will really love these three stories. A must read.

Western Widows is a three novella (A Widow’s Desires, A Widow’s Needs, and a Widow’s Wants) set by Ms. Vale and it is hot! The story of best friends making a pact to take care of the others wives, which they haven’t even found yet, if something were to happen to them. Death and natural disasters do make people do funny things and these men were determined to protect their own, even if they didn’t have it yet.
In each of the three novellas there is an alpha male and a widow of a mine’s cave in that isn’t really ready to be married again. However in a small mining town and with little money there really aren’t a lot of choices. So what will these men and women do? Will they find happiness or be relegated to watch from afar?
Ms. Vale pulls no punches with these novellas. The ability to give you just enough on the characters to make you relate to them and care about what happens to them. The plot that has you caring about the story and of course there is the heat that leaves little to the imagination….. this is one of those sets of novellas that will take you there quickly. There are elements of BDSM and this is definitely not for the faint of heart, but it is a fire that will leave you burning….

Vanessa Vale can certainly crank up the erotic heat in her books, and in the case of the three stories that comprise Western Widows, she does just that. While all three stories are entertaining, what they lack are plot and backstories. How did these women arrive in this mining town? Why did they originally marry husbands they didn't love or even like? If they were mail-order brides, it wasn't mentioned. Additionally, the 3 stories are all so similar in plot and narrative, that I'm not quite sure why they weren't written as a single title without separate subtitles.
Finally, considering that these stories are set in the 19th century, it seems unlikely to me that Victorian women wouldn't be totally scandalized by the 3 men and their overt sexual demands, especially as each of the women have ever barely spoken to the men who become their second husbands, and, who, within minutes of marriage, immediately haul their new brides home and make illicit sexual demands. This would have been the perfect place to expand these stories into actual novellas and allow the newly married couples to get to know each first.

I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. This is three of Vanessa Vale’s very hot novellas in one book. The overarching theme is three different widows re-marrying after their husbands are killed in a mine collapse in the Montana Territory. Each story and couple is different enough to be interesting. Liam has loved Charlotte since he first laid eyes on her in A Widow’s Wants. He takes his time to woo her and once they come together it is incredibly hot! In A Widow’s Needs, Liam shows Rachel how giving in to her pleasure can be the best pleasure of all. Once Leah realizes the love Ben has for her in A Widow’s Desire, she learns to enjoy his very erotic attentions. Each couple has their own HEA and I loved the way each of the woman blossomed. This is an extremely erotic bundle. Make sure you have a change of panties close!

“I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.” This is the second book I've read from Vanessa Vale and it was very enjoyable. There is actual three novellas in this book, each story follows each friend and the widow he is to take care of. The three men already wanted these woman so the tragic deaths of their friends put them with the woman with loved. I found the women and men very likeable and a joy to read. Love that is the one thing they don't really say to each other. It obvious they love each other but it's not said out loud and that did bother me. I wanted to hear them say it, not just think or show it. The book did have more sex than actual plot to it. I would have liked more plot in the stories. I'm not sure if this is the author style or just how this book was written. I would recommend this book to anyone, just know the book is short on plot.

In these three novelettes she uses her super power to fully create great stories. The women in these stories are strong. The men are alpha males and sweet as sugar. The essence of the Wild West is captured in each story and the actual story is well written. In the erotica genre many times you get lots of sex without a story at all. Vale gives us 3 great stories of what can only be described as true love.

I received a copy of this book as a gift in exchange for an honest review. The opinions in this review are my own. I enjoyed this book very much. Until I read this book I did not realize or remember how much I could enjoy reading historical western romances! This is spicy, steamy and sexy. There are some darker elements of real life in this book but they are handled very well by the author. In this book the reader gets to experience the story of three different couples. I recommend this to other readers of romance but I caution that this book can get pretty steamy! I will definitely be looking for more books by Vanessa Vale and especially if they tell more of the story of the couples in this book.

The men were bound by honor, but none of them really expected to have to go through with the terms of the pact they had made. A mining cave-in leads to three women being left in pretty sorry situations after their husbands die in the mining accident. Little do they know that their husbands had made a pact with other men--single men--to see that the women would be taken care of and protected. One-by-one the bachelors Liam Anderson, Seth Barnes, and Ben Worth approach the widows and marry them. Like all of Vanessa Vale's characters, the men are dominant and the women submissive, but the couple face their own challenges and reap their own rewards both inside and outside the bedroom.

A group of unmarried miners sitting around one drunken night in a saloon make a pact that if something happens to them someone in the group will make sure their wives will be provided and cared for.....I really loved this book! It was different than what I expected and I can't imagine what it would be like to lose your husband and basically you no longer have many rights. As a woman alone in the west there were few options and many not very appealing......I was given a copy of this book to provide an honset review.

The stories didn’t contain any spanking or domestic discipline. They were mostly graphical
sexual scenes from each of their bedrooms as they became husband and wife.
It was three erotic tales. It was a short interesting read of the erotic and steamy nature.

This was a great collection of three stand alone novellas that had a connecting theme. I read from page one straight through until the end and enjoyed every minute of it. If you are familiar with Vanessa Vale's books then you know this is quite a steamy read. If you haven't read any of her books before then start here, enjoy and purchase another. You will be happy you did!
