Jessica Krueger has lived all across the United States, traveling with her military husband, but she still calls Illinois home. A chemist by training, she’s always been fascinated by what makes things tick—whether molecules or hearts. When she couldn’t find the stories she craved—romantic, mythic, a little weird—she started writing them herself.

When she’s not writing or reading, Jessica can be found solving puzzles, playing board games and video games, or soaking up the sun on long walks with her dog. She believes in the magic of storytelling, the comfort of a good trope, and the thrill of a well-placed plot twist.

I received ARC of Cops and Robbers by Jessica Krueger through BooksSirens for a honest review.

Cops and Robbers is a book 3 in the The Dragon and Fallen Series, each book can be read as a standalone, but to experience the whole bigger story you should read all of them, because they are interconnected.

This book follows FMC Kate, a Fallen, part of angels who were cast out from the heaven, but are in search of forgiveness she is also known as a Buddlegum Bandit, a robber who leaves behind her crimes only a note with a lipstick mark which is stuck to the wall by bubblegum. Ray is the MMC, a dragon shifter, who works as a cop who has been trying to catch her for a long time.

Their bantering is one of my favourite parts of the story.

Kate as a main character is a combination of playfulness, seduction and deeper mystery. Her inner monologues were one of my favourite parts because in them we could learn more about what she had to go through in her lives and we can experience her character growth together with her.

Raz at first seemed to me like every other generic MMC, but as soon as he starts to have scenes together with Kate, we learn he isn’t just a simple character, but someone who you can struggle with especially about his inner struggles about learning to trust again. As more of his thoughts were revealed and more you learned about Kate, I kept rooting him to make a choice that would benefit Kate the most.

The bigger plot that was going on at the same time was really thrilling to read and I couldn’t put the book down. Kate and Raz’s story did get the ending in this book but the bigger plot let us in on a cliffhanger.

I will give this book 4 out of 5 stars and the only reason why it isn’t full 5 stars is that there wasn’t really any shifting to dragon happening and as this was marked as a dragon shifter book disappointed me slightly.

Cops and Robbers by Jessica Krueger was such a fun ride! I mean, a Fallen angel who is also the Bubblegum Bandit and a dragon-shifting special agent determined to catch her? How could I possibly resist that combination?

Kate absolutely stole the show for me. She’s sassy, unpredictable, flirty, and a little chaotic, but underneath all of that is someone who has been through so much. I loved getting to see those different layers of her personality, especially as she struggles with trusting others and doing whatever it takes to save her sister.

And then there’s Raz. He’s supposed to catch Kate, not fall for her, and watching those lines slowly blur was one of my favorite parts of the book. Their back-and-forth banter was hilarious, their chemistry was 🔥, and the whole cat-and-mouse dynamic between them made it almost impossible to put this book down. I especially loved that underneath all the attraction were two people carrying their own baggage and slowly figuring out how to trust each other.

The spice was definitely spicing 🌶️🔥, but it was the humor, banter, emotional moments, and growing connection between Kate and Raz that really made this one for me.

Cops and Robbers was sexy, funny, action-packed, emotional, and just the right amount of chaotic. Kate may be the Bubblegum Bandit, but she and Raz definitely stole my heart.

Five huge stars! I cannot wait to see what Jessica Krueger has planned next for this world!

I can never get enough dragon reading in.
An action packed storyline with plenty of tension and suspense, Kate the main character is trying to right the wrongs from her past. She is a slick, smart, sassy and a very independent heroine. Plenty of great witty dialogue. Life has not been easy and trust is a challenge. All of the characters are incredibly relatable and they are people I would love to be friends with. Since all of these characters have lived a very long time, they all have some past and present baggage to deal with which makes their circle of loyal friends very small. So this leaves Kate with an uphill battle to gain the trust of the dragons and she will have to learn to trust others herself. There is plenty of magic in this fun fantasy read with Dragons, Immortals, Fallen, miracles, feathers and more. I would have liked to read more details about the setting. There was some Influence and altering of memories that I was not able to always follow what what was going on, but still basically understood what happened in the end. I received this book for free and voluntarily reviewed.

Cops and Robbers by Jessica Krueger was so much fun. I went into this expecting a good time, and somehow it still managed to give me more than I expected. The banter, the tension, the chemistry, and the chaos kept me completely entertained from start to finish.

I absolutely loved the dynamic between the characters. The push and pull was addictive, the spice was intense, and underneath all the flirting and attitude were enough genuine emotional moments to make me really care about what happened to them. I’m a sucker for characters who can make me laugh one minute and have me completely invested in their feelings the next, and this book delivered.

This was one of those books that was simply fun to read. It was fast paced, sexy, funny, a little unhinged, and ridiculously easy to devour. I kept telling myself one more chapter, and we all know how that ends.

If you like romance with great banter, serious chemistry, plenty of spice, lovable chaos, and characters you don’t want to say goodbye to, put this one on your TBR I would happily get arrested by this book again.

I rarely hand out five star ratings — I think a 5 star rating should be reserved for genuinely outstanding books. Cops and Robbers by Jessica Krueger earns it without question.

The best aspect of the story are the characters. They are people I want to know. I want to grab lunch with Kate, and I'd happily do considerably more than lunch with Caige. Krueger writes her characters with enough depth to come alive.

The banter is priceless.. My favorite exchange comes when our heroine is warned, "Don't get too cocky." Her reply: "There's never been a cock I can't handle."

The plot doesn't telegraph itself. It never gets bogged down in detours or padding; every scene moves the story forward. The fantasy world and the special capabilities add to the characters without become the whole character.

My advice: don’t start this book unless you have plenty of reading time.

***ARC Review***

A dragon shifter romance featuring a cop and a robber as the main couple? Say less! I really enjoyed the world building and the dynamic between the shifters and the fallen. The characters were all likable, and the banter between them had me laughing out loud more than once! There is a nice balance of romance, humor and action. The spice was definitely spicing!
The writing style was smooth making this a fast and entertaining read. Although this is the third book in the series, it can be read as a standalone and you don't have to have read the other two to know what's going on.
Overall, this was a fun dragon shifter romance with an entertaining premise, lovable characters, plenty of wit, and the right amount of spice. This was a solid 4.5 ⭐ for me.
Thank you @indiejessicakrueger for the opportunity to ARC read this book!

I loved Kate and Raz in this one. She’s such a feisty character, and Raz is talked with having her arrested for being the Bubblegum Bandit. Loved that name lol. I loved the world building and the different characters throughout. Especially Raz being a dragon. The back and forth between these twit was hilarious. Their attraction was clearly undeniable. But it was such a fun and intriguing read. Them finding more than their witty banter with one another while trying to save her sister from the crime bus. Suspense, steam, and a lot of fun.

Loved it! This book was packed with more spice than the first 2 books. This book was like reading a whole new story. There was no mention of the ongoing research from books 1 and 2. This one focused entirely on locating and destroying a deadly weapon. Both Kate and Raz are dealing with trust issues from their past so there was a good bit of angsty tell him moments. Loved the dynamic between the Dragon SEALs. Also loved Bonnie and Clyde, so glad Bonnie got help and Clyde was just amazing.
I am intrigued to see where book 4 takes us.

Kate's and Raz's stories broke my heart with how much pain and betrayal they both had faced. Both fighting for similar things on opposite sides of the law made for great tension and when the tension finally broke...OMG. I loved learning more about the fallen and dragon world and their connection to each other.

If you like:
Flawed main characters
Found family
Revenge plots
Cops/Robbers
Breaking the law for justice
Morally Gray characters
Vigilantes
Dragons
Fated mates then this book is a must

I received a review readers copy of this story, and this is my honest review. This book was a fun continuation of the story, and had good characters and plot. It at times felt a little rushed however, and other times it dragged on a little so pacing could have been a little better in my opinion and I had wanted to see a little more growth for the characters together, though they did grow which was nice. It was fun though and I really enjoyed the raw emotions and feeling as though I could really relate to the characters.

This is a spicy and fun paranormal romance with mystery. Kate is a fallen angel and also the bubble gum bandit and Raz is a dragon shifter who is the cop looking for the bubble gum bandit. She is fun and a little chaotic which is probably what I loved much, plus the banter between her and Raz really had me going. This is book three and technically an interconnected standalone but I will be going back to read books 1 and 2 now.

Meet Kate and Raz. She’s trying to rescue her friend and she’s a Fallen. He’s her mark and a detective on a special team, and a dragon shifter. Together they team up to get Matsuda. He has caused harm to both of them and needs to be stopped. The interplay between these two is fire. Love the character arc. Love the slow burn. This world is so well written. I love each member of his team and honestly can’t wait for the next book! Huge fan. Spice is 🌶️🌶️🌶️ and stars are 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Kate and Raz story was entertaining with mystery, danger, adrenaline and shenanigans.
They had their struggles and hung ups so trust is a work in progress.
I liked the action, the way they get close to each other, and the way events kept surprising us with unexpected developments.
I liked to seeing some dragon action maybe it will be possible in the future?
Overall was an enjoyable read and I’m looking forward to see the next adventure.

Starting the this book i honestly didn’t pay attention to the cover just saw ARC read and I was sold. Little did I know I’d fall in love with RAZ & KATE!!! Trusting someone with the things/people you love is hard regardless of how a person feels about the other. But learning to win the battle within yourself to give yourself the opportunity to let yourself love…A REWARD in itself! Looking forward to reading more of Jessica Krueger

I really enjoyed Cops and Robbers. Nothing can beat a story like a fallen Angel and a cop dragon. Wow! Kate and Raz have a strong chemistry and Kate is so bubbly. The characters are out of this world. That made the story fun and exciting. The storyline is fantastic. This series is awesome. Start it today!

The Bubblegum Bandit is such a cute name; Kate's personality and quirks were even cuter. The heated chemistry was really fun. The spice was good; not too spicy. Without giving spoilers, all I can say is that I gave 4 stars because I would've liked to see more of Raz's wild side.

With many laugh out loud moments and the cat and mouse chases, Cops and Robbers, will have you continuing to turn the pages. Yes there is also a few heart strings moments that had my eyes leaking but over all it was a well written story that I devoured in one day. Thanks to the author for the opportunity to read and leave my honest opinion or their work.

You ever pick up a book expecting one thing, and then five chapters later you’re sitting there thinking, “Well… this isn’t where I thought this train was headed.” Yeah… that was me with Cops and Robbers.

I went in expecting a paranormal romance with a little cat-and-mouse chase thrown in for good measure. Instead, Jessica Krueger handed me a supernatural thriller, a detective mystery, a heist story, dragons, Fallen, organized crime, and enough twists to keep my ADHD brain happily chasing shiny objects. Surprisingly… it worked. Once I found my footing in the world, I was hooked.

Kate was hands down my favorite part of this book. She’s smart, sarcastic, fearless, and has absolutely no business being as charming as she is while committing crimes. 😂 I loved that she wasn’t the damsel waiting around for someone to save her. She’s the kind of woman who walks into chaos with a plan… and probably three backup plans just in case everything catches on fire. Watching her go toe-to-toe with Raz was ridiculously entertaining because neither one of them was willing to give an inch. Their chemistry wasn’t just about attraction—it was the constant back-and-forth that had me grinning like an idiot.

Now, I will say this… the world-building comes at you like someone opened a fire hydrant. There are a lot of moving pieces introduced pretty quickly, and there were a few moments where my brain looked at the author and said, “Ma’am… I’m going to need you to slow down for about thirty seconds so I can catch up.” 😂 None of it was bad—in fact, I genuinely found the world fascinating—but I think spacing out some of the lore a little more would’ve made it easier to settle into everything.

By the end, though? I was invested. I wanted answers. I wanted more Kate and Raz. I wanted to see how all of these puzzle pieces were going to fit together. And that’s always a good sign.

This one earned a solid 4 stars from me. The creativity is there. The characters are fun. The chemistry is fantastic, and the story kept me turning pages. With just a little less information overload in the beginning, I honestly think this could’ve been an easy five-star read for me.

***As always, all thoughts, reactions, fangirling, suspicious side-eyeing, and sleep-deprived ramblings are entirely my own. But this review is one of many that i post regularly on sassyreviews. com***

⭐⭐⭐⭐½ 4.5/5 Stars | 🌶️🌶️🌶️½ 3.5/5 Peppers

Cops and Robbers was such a fun mix of paranormal romance, romantic suspense, action, humor, criminal intrigue, and found family. Kate completely won me over. She’s clever, chaotic, flirtatious, unpredictable, and carrying far more emotional weight than her personality initially lets on. Raz is a great contrast to her, and watching these two circle each other was incredibly entertaining.

Their chemistry is obvious, but their relationship isn’t built on attraction alone. There are genuine moments of vulnerability, trust, and emotional connection. The dragons, supernatural abilities, criminal elements, investigations, and supporting characters gave the book enough substance that the romance never had to carry everything by itself. There’s definitely spice, but I never felt like the plot disappeared every time somebody lost their pants. 😂

The biggest thing keeping this from five stars was some repetition around the attraction, possessiveness, and internal conflicts. There were places where I already understood what Kate and Raz were feeling, and tightening those moments would have helped the middle move faster. I also would have loved more of their quieter emotional conversations because those were some of my favorite scenes.

Overall, I really enjoyed this one. Kate and Raz are entertaining individually and even better together, and the supporting cast made me want to spend more time with these characters. Apparently arresting the woman you’re attracted to becomes considerably more complicated when she thinks being chased is part of the fun. 😂🖤
