Lizzie Brown is all for letting the good times roll…until a dark voodoo church rises up in the bayou outside of New Orleans. Now the ritual fires are burning long into the night and the dead are having a hard time staying that way.
Lizzie goes in undercover to put a stop to the madness. Good thing she’s got her sexy shape-shifter husband behind her, as well as her Grandma’s gang of biker witches. Too bad nobody’s watching Pirate the dog, who has become way too friendly with the phantom haunting a long-forgotten Victorian séance room.
Secrets and spirits abound. Nothing is what it seems. And when legions of the dead threaten the city, there may be no stopping them.

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Angie Fox writes sweet, fun, action-packed mysteries. Her characters are clever and fearless, but in real life, Angie is afraid of basements, bees, and going up stairs when it is dark behind her. Let’s face it. Angie wouldn’t last five minutes in one of her books.
Angie is best known for her SOUTHERN SPIRITS™ mysteries, and for her ACCIDENTAL DEMON SLAYER books.
I thought this book was a whole lot of fun and really ended up enjoying the story. This is the seventh book in the series so I was a little hesitant to read it without having read any of the previous books but I was able to follow along without any difficulty. I am sure that if I had read the earlier books in the series I would have known the characters much better and some of their interactions would have had a greater meaning for me but I thought that this book read perfectly fine all on its own.
This book had so much going for it. I loved the quirky cast of characters. How can you go wrong with a talking dog, a pet dragon named Flappy, a gang of grandma biker witches, a griffin, and an alligator zombie? I was a little surprised when the dog, Pirate, started talking but I quickly adjusted and spent a bit of time wondering what my dogs would tell me if they had the chance...I probably don't want to know. I loved how this world was able to include so much and still feel light and fun.
The action started right away in this novel and loved that this story takes place in the heart of New Orleans. I could totally envision that this group could blend into the festivities surrounding them. Once things got started in this story the pace didn't let up until the very end. I never knew where the story was going and enjoyed every twist and turn that was presented.
I found this book to be a really fun, quick read. I would recommend this to paranormal fans. This combination of witches, voodoo, zombies, and more is sure to entertain. I definitely plan to read the earlier in the books in this series and have noticed that the first book, The Accidental Demon Slayer, is currently free at most retailers, so that sounds like a perfect place to start.
I received a copy of this book from Angie Fox via NetGalley for the purpose of providing an honest review.
Every once in a while you just need something different to read. You know what I mean, something fun, exciting, action intense, with a great romance and those characters that capture you 100%, Night of the Living Demon Slayer completely fit this bill.
Lizzie is asked to help out a necromancer in New Orleans. There is a big, bad voodoo priest raising some really nasty black souls and he needs Lizzie’s help.
Lizzie, of course, calls in her back up and the entire gang heads to a haunted house for the duration. That help, well it includes but is not limited to the Red Skulls Biker Gang, of grandmother witches, her talking dog, Pirate, and his pet dragon. Let us not forget her hunky Griffon husband, but he does arrive a little later.
Lots of magic, mayhem and voodoo ensues only to be followed up by amazing friendships and family bonds that go deeper than blood.
Of course, this is a fictional paranormal read but the characters still come across as utterly relatable people…even the talking dog. It’s a group you wouldn’t mind having at your back when facing a zombie horde.
I was flat out enthralled by this marvelously humor filled story but that doesn’t mean the blood, gore and possible apocalyptic battle against the zombie horde was any less intense or nail bite inducing.
Night of the Living Demon Slayer is truly 5 Star adventure.
I received this ARC copy of Night of the Living Demon Slayers from Angie Fox in exchange for a honest review. This book is set for publication May 31, 2015.
What a fun read. Lizzie goes up against a dark voodoo church. Good thing she has a biker gang of witches, a husband who is a shape-shifter, a dog who talks and a dragon. I won this book on Goodreads.
Biker witches, sassy dialogue, and demon slaying are the key ingredients for fun antics in Angie Fox's Demon Slayer series. NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEMON SLAYER, adds a dash of voodoo alligator zombies to this already perfect recipe of a series, and the result is more awesomeness. The fact that there is an alligator voodoo zombie alone should inform you of the absolute quirkiness of this series. It's silly without being unreasonably so and still maintains a balance with the darker elements. All of the lovably quirky characters from the previous six books are back making for a fun story and non stop banter in a book that is non stop action and peril for Lizzie Brown, Demon Slayer extraordinaire.
I love Lizzie on her own as she continues to keep learning about her demon slaying powers and seems to be such a kind caring person. The fact that she even entertains the idea to trek down to New Orleans to fight some unknown force says a lot about her character. One small problem I had was that there was simply not enough of Lizzie's shapshifter husband, Griffin. Lizzie and Griffin are adorable together and I so wanted more of him. There are some very unique characters in this series such as Pirate, Lizzie's talking dog, and the biker witches who could so easily become annoying side characters but they all come off as loveable, fun, and super competent in their abilities.
NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEMON SLAYER lets the good times roll with some badass zombie slaying, strong family ties, and hilarity. I'd recommend this book and series to anyone wanting a bit of quirky humor in their urban fantasy/paranormal romance.
I received this from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Night of the Living Demon Slayer is what I have come to expect from Angie Fox and the Demon Slayer series...a well written story with plenty action, suspense, humor and let's not forget the steamy romance. Can anyone say Dimitri? He is one "Hot" shape-shifting griffin who just happens to be Lizzie's husband!
Lizzie is on a mission to help Carpenter down in New Orleans. Nothing is ever simple when Carpenter is involved much less Voodoo. Lizzie will have her hands full in the Big Easy when dark voodoo is at work in the bayou. Good thing she brought along the Red Skulls, her grandma's biker witch gang. They are useful when magic is involved. They are using a haunted mansion as their base of operations...too bad there is something really dark living in the attic. The situation quickly escalates when the dead are walking the streets. Lizzie may be a demon slayer, but how can she stop the dead from rising?
Lizzie is one kick-ass demon slayer who is always up for a challenge. She knows what her weakness is and that would be magic. Her spell casting is a disaster and that's where the biker witches come in handy. The biker witches may be senior citizens, but they know their way around spells. They are good to have in a fight and will definitely be needed in this one. I wasn't sure Lizzie would pull this one off. What does the future have in store for Lizzie, Dimitri and the Red Skulls? I enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend it along with the rest of the series.
This series never fails to make me smile. Pirate and Flappy are adorable as always. I loved the New Orleans locale. I have always been fascinated by it and its local customs. The biker witches are still fun but they may have been a bit tame in this book. Overall, a fun read.
Lizzie Brown-Kallinikos is one of the world’s last demon slayers. She and her were-griffon husband have been trying to live a semi-normal life, difficult to achieve with rowdy biker witches and a small dog with a pet dragon. An ally who had helped Lizzie defeat the Earl of Hell calls on the favor she owes him. She and the biker witches travel to New Orleans to help the necromancer with his problem. Lizzie must face a magic unfamiliar to her, a brand of magic that does not share the same principals as the biker witches’. When a dark bokor, a sorcerer in voodoo, captures and kidnaps the necromancer, she relies on the biker witches’ magical expertise to help rescue him. The bokor and his sinister intent are not the only things Lizzie must face because an enigmatic, malevolent spirit found in an old home in NOLA shows an interest in her.
Lizzie shows remarkable growth from the inexperienced woman she was in book one to the confidant woman she demonstrates in NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEMON SLAYER. She understands both her strengths and weaknesses as a demon slayer. I like how Lizzie shows uncertainty and doubt about how effective her demon slayer skills will be against voodoo. She is aware of her limitations, yet those restrictions do not stop her from seeking help and counsel when dealing with something outside her expertise. I admire how Lizzie does not rely on her were-griffon husband or the biker witches to keep her safe; instead, she forages into the fight alongside them. She and Dimitri still have that explosive chemistry that I love. Throughout all the trials they both have faced, their love remains constant and strong.
I am happy the necromancer, Evan Carpenter, plays an important part in the book. He first appears in book six, BEVERLY HILLS DEMON SLAYER. His part was minor, however, I still fell in love with his gruff, antisocial manner. I remember hoping the author would either consent to writing a spin-off where Even plays the lead or have him make regular appearances in upcoming THE ACCIDENTAL DEMON SLAYER books. I squealed in delight that my wish came true. The biker witches and Pirate the dog still are a hoot, making me giggle and laugh at their hijinks. I do wonder what Angie Fox’s plans are for the evil spirit. She also perked my attention to the cagy vibe between Dimitri and the character Dante Montenegro. It makes me wonder if we have not seen the last of him.
NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEMON SLAYER is book seven in Angie Fox’s THE ACCIDENTAL DEMON SLAYER series. The laughs continue on this humorous ride to NOLA. I especially approve how the author throws new and different obstacles at Lizzie to face and hurdles she is ill suited to combat. Instead of facing demons, she now battles a voodoo practicing bokor and the living dead.
First off let me say that this is the first of this series by Angie Fox I have read, I have read and enjoyed her Southern Spirits series, this was great! It was full of laugh out loud moments. The fact that I know a couple grey hair biker women made this book even better.
The concept of a thirty member biker gang of grandmother age witches called the Red Skulls who back up their Leaders granddaughter, Elizabeth (Lizzie), who is a Demon Slayer, by the way, was pretty interesting. The fact that said Demon Slayer is married to a hot Griffon shifter, give the girl points for skills. I definitely have to go back and find book one and start from the beginning now. Not that this book didn't m as keep sense being read out of order, just would have figured some things out a little faster is all. In this book Carpenter comes looking for Lizzie, he has a Voodoo bokor do we n in New Orleans, LA collecting dark souls and budding them up for some purpose. One of those souls he put into a large white alligator that he had reanimated. Since Lizzie owed one, she agreed, and the Red Skulls started packing ready to 'bug out' within in hour. This was their first 'permanent' home in over thirty years, so packing what they would need and being ready quickly was a talent of theirs. They the trip on their bikes in under three days, having the bus along this time helped. Going up against voodoo didn't make any of the witches happy, but they were there with their magic for Lizzie, and they were not your normal spells. Lizzie faces the Dark voodoo bokor, his reanimated mother, the dark church, which was larger than any church should be, and generally gives the read a very very good time.
I loved the crafting of this book, as well as the concept. It was very nicely plotted out, and the charters all had such a wide range of talents and abilities and insecurities as to make them believable and relateable. I give this book five stars for the shear enjoyment I got of the first chapter, each chapter after that was just icing on the cake, from the Red Skulls president who answers to Grandma, to the enlist speaking dog, Pirate, then throw in an adolescent dragon and you get an all over feel good read with a few tense monents for flavor. A must read if you like magic, mayhem, sex (just a little), and loyalty mixed together in your books.
I've got a couple of this authors books just sat on my kindle but for some reason just keep passing them by. I'm not really a huge fan of comedy in books although I enjoy humourous situations and had the very mistaken belief that this author writes funny, light paranormal stories. I was totally bowled over by this book and im so glad I chose to take the plunge. Fast paced, intense and quirky! If you've missed this authors work than like me you have most certainly missed out! So what's all the fuss about? Well meet Lizzie, she's a Demon slayer , lives with her grandmothers coven of biker witches , has a talking dog, a pet dragon oh and last but not least a sexy bad ass husband who is a Griffin shifter! Now just add an old friend in trouble and the scene is set for an outrageous story full of magic, voodoo and a whole lot of creepy goings on! I was totally engrossed and easily got sucked in by the way the author made everything feel so real. I know these are paranormal over the top characters but the snark and verve of the witches had me laughing out loud. Then we have Pirate the full of himself dog who acts more human than he ever should ! It just was simply brilliant with amazingly named spells ( frozen underwear anyone?) evil bad guys and oh my lets not forget zombies! I cannot express just how much I enjoyed this book and seriously have to read more by this author. I was gifted a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
These books never disappoint! They are filled with snarky good humor, witty banter, insane situations, and some sexy good times. I don't recommend diving right into this as your first book of the series, so please start from the beginning (you won't be disappointed).
Lizzie and her witch family are finally getting settled for the first time in years. Of course, nothing in her life is ever actually settled. After some dragon/dog/voodoo trap mistakes, they end up tasked with shutting down some evil voodoo magic. Obviously, Lizzie doesn't ever travel alone, so the whole biker witch gang packs up and comes with her to New Orleans. Where's Dimitri? He's at some sort of shape shifter convention, but don't worry! He shows up eventually to deliver the hotness.
The gang ends up crashing at a haunted house that wants more from Lizzie than she is willing to give. I guess we'll see where that goes in the future. What seemed like an easy enough task (for a demon slayer) ends up cascading into a full blown zombie apocalypse (almost). There's oodles of action, magic, and mayhem thrown into this short little read. It's always so much fun to watch this team battle against evil.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THIS SERIES!! Angie Fox, does it again!! Lizzie, a Demon slayer, her hubby, a gorgeous Griffin shape shifter, her dog Pirate, Flappy a young dragon, plus her Grandmother and 30 biker witches, are perfect for another exciting adventure! Lizzie's necromancer friend, Carpenter, calls in a favor to help get rid of a voodoo Boker in New Orleans, that was raising black souls! They pack up and head to New Orleans, and stay in Anteater's haunted family home! What was supposed to be a quick in and out job, turned into chasing black souls, resurrected zombies, and the Voodoo Bokor's pissed off zombie mother, hell bent on taking over New Orleans! Just another day in the Demon Slayer's life!! Another must read!!!!
A fun side trip to New Orleans. Lizzie and the Biker Witches are enjoying a well-deserved break when Lizzie is called on to repay a favor. Of course the witches can’t let her go alone. What is supposed to be a quick fix turns into quite something else altogether. Mix Lizzie and the gals with Voodoo and zombies and you know there will be some side splitting fun. Night of the Living Demon Slayer is a fast fun romp that will leave you wanting more. You will get more out of this story if you’ve read the series but it can be read stand alone. Complimentary copy provided by author/publisher for an honest review.
I received and ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.
This book was so extremely hard to put down that I finished it in one evening. I love this series and all the whacked out characters. Just thinking of a leather clad grandma on a harley puts a smile on my face. Lizzie is at her butt-kicking best! My only complaint about the book is that there wasn't enough shirtless Dimitri, but what there was of the super hot shape-shifting griffin was amazing. Plus I can never get enough Pirate. That dog is hilarious! It was pretty awesome that this tied into the authors short story Gentlemen Prefer Voodoo from the MY Zombie Valentine anthology. Can't wait for more Demon Slaying!
Another homerun from Angie Fox, this is a great series one of my favorites! In this book Lizzie and her band of Biker Witches are off to the Voodoo capital New Orleans. While sexy Dimtri is off going to a Griffin meeting, Lizzie gets wrapped up in some seriously dark voodoo, all to help a necromancer from the past. It doesn’t go to well and she is in it deep. She needs to rescue her friend, deal with a haunted house, and keep the dead from rising again. I couldn’t put this story down and I can’t wait for the next adventure featuring Lizzie, Dimtri, Pirate, and the Biker Witches…. Oh yeah and Flappy!
I got this as arc and could not wait to read the antics of the grandma biker crew with our fave demon slayer, her dog,Pirate and everybodies fave Griffin. This time the setting is New Orleans and it is a like you are there. I need some Beignets! Carpenter, necromancer from previous story comes for help for a simple "take-down" of a white alligator tht has been re-animated. Of course the gag is off to Ant-Eaters fam home(which is haunted)Carpenter gets captured and the chaos(and biker chics along with Lizzie and Demetri(husband/Griffn)are there for the rescue. I love this series and the colorful characters Angie creates and cannot wait for the next one.
Lizzie is a Demon Slayer. Her Grandmother is a witch whose coven is a motorcycle gang called the Red Skulls. Add a pet dragon and a dog who speaks perfect English and her husband, Deimitri, who is a sexy Griffin and you have a fast-paced, humorous, interesting afternoon read. Lizze and the The Red Skulls agree to help Carpenter, a necromancer, deal with a rogue alligator in New Orleans. I am pretty fussy about what type of paranormal book I read. Angie Fox has got me hook, line and sinker! I want to ride with The Red Skulls! Open the book, hang on to your seat and prepare for a fun-filled, wild ride with a good dose of drama!
Lizzie is enjoying married life and staying home for a change until a necromancer from the past comes asking for help. This means Lizzie a d the biker witches have to travel to New Orleans. What they find is disturbing for the living and the dead! Lizzie has her hands full again with rescuing her friend, dealing with a haunted house and stoping a voodoo bokor from raising the dead. Pirate and the witches provide the usual comic relief. Great addition to the series a d you will love every minute of it!
I have loved this series for years . Who wouldn't love pirate and biker witches? Who could forget floppy. Lizzie and all her witchy friend along with her sexy husband goes on wild ride. This time the dead wont stay dead. Lizzie and pirate and friend will take everything in their power to fix this . This is a fun book . So love this one . If u love super natural stuff. This book for u .Angie fox did it again. Thank u Misty stockton
One of my favorite series......I love Lizzie along with her sexy griffin husband and her crazy grandma and those awesome biker witches.....but if I had to pick a favorite it would be Pirate.....this book takes place in one of my favorite party towns New Orleans a city filled with magic and voodoo! This book is a fun and exciting read....
Great book! So funny and full of action that I couldn't put it down and always keeps me anxiously awaiting the next in the series! Loved it from beginning to end!
Of the books have had a chance to read in the series think this is my favorite tale out of the 5. Having missed the 4th and 6th books still feel like did not miss a lot of Lizzie growing more confident with her myriad Demon Slayer abilities.
Now she is shown in her best light yet as not only a kick ass DS but also embracing her Biker Witch family fully as they, Pirate, Floppy and Dimitri prove to be formidable allies when Lizzie takes on an evil Voodoo Boker.
Angie Fox just keeps the fun going! Amazon’s ‘Freebie” program turned up a jewel when I found the first book of this series, The Accidental Demon Slayer. As I said in that review, “I am thrilled to say I wound up with a ruby. Hey, I like rubies better than diamonds, so sue me!”
“Come on, who wouldn’t be thrilled to have a kick-butt, 70-something, pink-Harley-riding grandma show up on your doorstep on your 30th birthday to help you kick demon backside? Well, if you happen to be the ‘turning-thirty-preschool-teacher” hiding in the bathroom from said grandma, things can get a bit confusing, but come on. A Pink Harley? Got to love it!”
“And the action only starts there. Strap your hyperactive Jack Russell into a ferret bag across your chest, hop on the back of Grandma’s Hog, (even if you do get carsick in anything faster than a tricycle) and take off for the Red Skull Hog Ridin’ Grannies biker bar, with demons in pursuit. What happens after had me grinning like a crazed biker granny myself, as Lizzie and Grandma kick fanny and take names across the American South – and a good portion of Hell.”
“Night of the Living Demon Slayer” is Book Seven of the Demon Slayer Series, and I have to say, this one is just as good as the first one. I haven’t had an opportunity to read the ‘in-between’ books yet, but I was still able to read this one and greatly enjoy it without reading them. But I do have the rest of them on my list and fully intend to read them. They are just too much fun not to.
This time, Lizzie and the hog ridin’ grannies, along with Pirate the talking Jack Russell and Flappy the white dragon (yep, Lizzie has all the cool pets!) are headed to New Orleans to help out Carpenter, a Necromancer Lizzie owes a favour, take out a zombie white alligator. Yep. It is bound to be exciting – and it doesn’t disappoint. Action and adventure, zombies and voodoo, oh yes – this is some great fun!
Let yourself relax, open your mind to the fun, and enjoy this series. It isn’t serious, so don’t expect it to be. Just be prepared to appreciate it for what it is – a rip-roaring good time!
Overall, Angie goes in my ‘must read when I am reading just for myself’ pile. She made me laugh, and her story was a pure, guilty pleasure. What more can I ask?
Recommended.
I received this book from the publisher in exchange for a realistic review. All thoughts are my own. Thank you, Season Publishing and Angie Fox!!
In book 7 of Angie Fox's paranormal mystery series, we find accidental demon slayer Lizzie Brown, her talking canine, Pirate, her hunky shape-shifter husband, Dmitri, her grandmother and the biker witch crew, and her dragon-in-training, Flappy, heading down to New Orleans to lend a hand to Lizzie's friend and necromancer, Carpenter. The deceptively simply mission quickly turns into more than any of them bargained for, as they venture into some unchartered territory in the dark, ugly part of voodoo and the undead.
This is a fun, well written, compelling story that honors the history of this series, while building the relationships and setting the stage for the next book. Fox excels at character development, and Lizzie and her crew are among my favorites. It has the right mix of suspense, humor, mystery, romance, action, magic, and paranormal plot-twists, this time with the atmospheric flavor of the Big Easy.
I really enjoyed this book, although I would have liked to learn a bit more about the backstory with Ant Eater's family home, and a better understanding of what was going on in the séance room, as I think it would have added to the overall story. Those might be details for a future book, however, and there certainly was enough going on otherwise to hold my attention.
I recommend this book for readers of mystery, paranormal, romance, and simply laugh out loud fun. It's a great summer read to take on vacation, to the beach, relaxing by the pool, or while soaking in the bath with a cup of tea, or a glass of wine. If you want a book with interesting characters, a suspenseful storyline, a great setting, where the good guys win in the end, this one should be on your summer reading list.
*** A review copy of "Night of the Living Demon Slayer" was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.*** Lizzie is headed for the Big Easy. Strange things are happening and it is more that her old friend Carpenter can handle alone. Add voodoo, zombies and a mysterious phantom to the all ready heady mix of a biker gang of witches, Pirate the talking dog and Flappy his pet dragon and you have a recipe for disaster. This is a fun read with all of the essentials - romance, suspense, mystery and a dash of humor not to mention a very sexy griffon. "Night of the Living Dead" is book 7 of the "Accidental Demon Slayer" series but it can be read as a stand alone as well but be warned once you have read one you will want to read the whole series and you won't be disappointed.
This novel had a few concrete themes for the reader to explore. These included the differences between life and death, good and evil, youth and age, birth and rebirth. Lizzie, as the main character, and the biker witches provide the right amount of humorous interplay to the storyline of a New Orleans takeover by the dark side. The reader connects with the characters right from the beginning of the book. I immediately felt sorry for Lizzy when she was trying to avoid being the subject of a neighbor complaint due to the biker witches. The story just got better with each chapter and engaged the reader as more supernatural events happened. I loved the book and would highly recommend it!!!
How can you not love a book that has a talking dog, who has a pet dragon, a crazy biker grandma who happens to be a witch with a coven who is just as crazy as she is? Also a handsome husband who happens to be a Griffon? This time Lizzie and Crew are off to NOLA to help out an old friend named Carpenter, (how cool of a name is that?) Lizzie, Granny, and Crew are going up against a powerful Voodoo Priest, which will take everything Lizzie and Crew can throw at them. I became addicted after reading the 1st book, this is now the 7th, Angie makes these books so enjoyable, you can't help but get caught up in these books, they are that good. I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Although I haven't read the previous books in the series or other books by this author. I will definitely be going back to read them now. This book was great fun with lots of interesting characters abounding. I mean what could be better than a bunch of harley riding grandmother witches!! A flying dragon, talking dog, necromancer and a griffin among others!!! Just makes for a great suspense fun story. If you love paranormal along with some fun, this is definitely the series for you. I had a fantastic time reading this story and read it straight through.
I did receive a free advanced ecopy from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you so much for introducing me to this author and her work!
