i fear we have lost what little plot we had

This book felt just too disconnected from the world of the Vicious Lost Boys. The inclusion of the other surprise characters like the Witch Killers and Doren made the storyline jump a lot for such a short book. And it felt like everything that has happened previously was reallyyyyy far in the past or at least didn’t matter anymore.

The story started with Kas and Bash trying to gain control of their kingdom, with concerns that they wouldn’t be accepted after the damage from Tilly. Then magically everyone likes them at the end, accepts Winnie, and their nerves were for nothing?

The whole scene with her old high school friends was just uncomfortable and pulled me away from the story. Ancient fae using food delivery apps? Yikes.

Then Winnie has all these nerves and fears throughout the first half of the book, so much so that it’s her entire personality and she can’t function without a drink. Is that to give the readers some edginess before we meet her father?

I liked the reconnection with her mom, that was great. I liked the reaffirmation that she belongs in Neverland.

For someone who purchased the omnibus of the first four books and could read them all in one sitting, this book might be one I pretend doesn’t exist. :/

Have we finally come to the end of this dark Neverland journey? Seems like it. I started this series a year or two ago and finally came back to it for this ALC. This book focuses on Winnie and her quest to rescue her kidnapped mother. Along the way she deals with demons from her past, and learns more about her roots and where she comes from. This is a quick read/listen and the pacing moves quickly. Solid character development for Winnie and were introduced to a couple new characters too that we have met in other fairy tales 🤫.

🎧: the DUET narration for this book was fantastic. Every narrator did an amazing job. I LOVE a full cast narration. It gave me such a vivid idea of the action in the story. That is solely why I rounded my review up. It was a fun listen.

I am a SUCKER for a retelling, and Peter Pan is one of my fave stories and movies, so I was happy to jump back in to this world. The story is wraps up nicely so I’m assuming this is the final book, but I’m not 100% sure. If not, sign me up for a return visit to Neverland 💫

3.5 stars. I've had a lot of fun reading this series over the years. Even for someone like me who almost exclusively deals with horror, Nikki St Crowe really did something special here. Dark fantasy and erotica all rolled into a reimagining of a cherished childhood tale. It's been a bit since I read #4 and felt a bit lost at times, so some additional pages to bring me back into the flow of things would have been appreciated. I did enjoy seeing the gang in a real-world setting but, as a whole, this affair felt like it was unnecessary. Fun to get some depth on Winnie, or as I like to refer to her, 'The Pincushion,' and just get one final romp with this motley crew, but I don't think the series would have lost a step if this wasn't published. Still fun and a nice potential send off to a very enjoyable series.

Nikki is absolutely one of my favorite authors. I am a sucker for fairytale retellings, and Nikki’s Vicious Lost Boys series will always have a special place high on my shelf. My heart exploded when she announced we were getting the conclusion we had all been waiting for!

Her writing is powerful and, honestly, unlike anything else. She knows how to pack a punch into a single line. She can create entire realms, worlds, mythological creatures, magic systems, and MMCs and FMCs you completely fall in love with — all in 200 pages.

The Never Queen was the perfect conclusion. We’ve followed Winnie Darling’s journey from rock bottom, through new chapters, new loves, a new home, and a new family. But this book? This is where we watch her truly heal — mind, body, and soul. And it was absolutely the conclusion we needed.

We watch Winnie face her old traumas and overcome them. We watch her uncover new truths and learn how to navigate them. Most importantly, we watch her find her strength and rise into the Queen she was always meant to be.

And she does it all with Pan, Vane, Kas, and Bash by her side. ❤️

Another adventure with Winnie Darling and her Neverland men?? I was so excited when I read that this was coming on Nikki’s Substack and it was everything I could have hoped for! The mystery of Winnie’s father (good god that woman is a powerhouse genetically), her happily ever after with her Fae Kings, Never King, and Dark One? Love love love.

I am sad we won’t be coming back to the Never, though. Both her Vicious Lost Boys and Devourer series are complete, so I must hope that at some point Dorothy wanders past Oz to pay them a visit!

Back to Neverland for another dose of fairytale filth. This series is a ride and a half and I highly recommend listening to these because the multicast audios are brilliant. Such fun short reads/listens. This was a nice little wrapping up of the series and I’m very much looking forward to what new characters and stories Nikki St Crowe will write next, really hoping for Alice and the Madd Hatter’s story soon too🤞🏻❤️

I loved returning to these characters and this dark, addictive version of Neverland. Nikki St. Crowe effortlessly pulls readers back into a world filled with romance, danger, intrigue, and twisted fairy tale magic. Fans of the series are in for an emotional, action-packed continuation that expands the lore while delivering everything that makes the Vicious Lost Boys so irresistible. I was lucky enough to be at the LA Times Festival of Books 2026 when Nikki St. Crowe announced she would be returning to the world of the Vicious Lost Boys. The collective gasp from the audience was deafening—it was clear I wasn’t the only one thrilled to revisit Neverland. My favorite scene was the many playtimes with Bash and his knots that actually proves to save her in a crisis.

I was SO excited when I found out I was selected for an ARC of The Never Queen! I was completely addicted to the first four books in the Vicious Lost Boys series, and after also making my way through the spin-offs, getting to read the final book early felt like such a treat.

This series has been such a fun, wild ride, and The Never Queen was exactly the kind of chaotic, dark, spicy fairy-tale retelling I’ve come to expect from @nikkistcrowe. I loved getting to return to Neverland and see this story finally come full circle. The enemies-to-lovers tension, morally gray characters, protective men, danger, and “touch her and you’ll die” energy were all here and I was absolutely here for it.

I especially loved that this final installment brought everything together while still giving the characters new challenges to face. There were plenty of twists, fighting, secrets, and moments that had me flying through the pages because I needed to know what would happen next.

If you’ve been following the Vicious Lost Boys series, this was such a fun way to close out the main storyline. And if you love dark fairy-tale retellings, spicy romantasy, morally gray love interests, and a little bit of beautiful chaos, this series is definitely worth checking out.

It’s been a hot minute since I’ve been in this world, and I’m slightly ashamed to admit I forgot just how much I love it here. Apparently absence does make the heart grow fonder. Who knew? 😂

My only complaint remains exactly the same: these books are not long enough. I get settled in, remember why I’m obsessed, devour my tiny little nibble of story… and suddenly it’s over. Excuse me?? That was an appetizer. I ordered a full meal.

I absolutely loved the new fairy-tale characters introduced in this one, and I’m very intrigued by where everything is headed. There are definitely some interesting little threads being pulled, and now I’m back to theorizing and impatiently waiting for the next book like I never left.

And for anyone concerned about the important things - don’t fret. Winnie and her boys are still Winnie and her boys. 😏🌶️ The spice is alive, well, and clearly thriving.

Basically, I came crawling back to this world, remembered exactly why I loved it, consumed my approximately seventeen pages of happiness, and have now been tossed back into the waiting room.

More. I require more.

I really enjoyed this whole series. Nikki could keep writing stories like this for these characters and I would read every single one of them. Compared to the other books though, I think the only thing this book was lacking was more spice. 😂 Would’ve liked to seen something at the end in the grotto. 🫣 Regardless fantastic read. I’ll definitely be rereading this series in the future.

When I started this book, it immediately thrust me back into Neverland, my home away from home. It was a feeling of comfort and nostalgia reading about the vicious lost boys and their Winnie Darling again. "Because I'm Winnie fucking Darling."

Winnie reminds me that even though I've come from a broken past, that I myself, am not broken any longer. She empowers me. Winnie is the epitome of feminine rage while simultaneously being soft, kind, and gentle. She reminds me that I can get past the fear of becoming who I really am.

The characters and their growth, the storyline, even new characters being introduced, Nikki does it all flawlessly. I love that Kas and Bash have been teaching her to get out of all different sorts of knots. The dynamic between them always makes me laugh. Vane and Peter are my favorite broody men. "So what do you want?" "The right to brood, I suppose." "Permission granted."

If you want a why choose, found family, touch her and die storyline with equally amazing smut, this book is for you!
