Fake Married to My Best Friend’s Ex is the kind of sweet romance that sneaks up on you—in the best way. I went in expecting a lighthearted enemies‑to‑lovers setup, but what I found was a story with surprising emotional depth, well‑drawn characters, and a fake‑marriage twist that feels both fun and meaningful.
The heroine is instantly relatable. She’s determined, a little stubborn, and trying her best to navigate a situation that’s messier than she ever planned for. Her voice feels authentic, and her emotional journey—especially the tug‑of‑war between loyalty, frustration, and unexpected affection—makes her easy to root for.
The hero, her best friend’s ex, is wonderfully layered. He’s not just the “ex” thrown in for drama. He’s thoughtful, steady, and carrying his own regrets and hopes. Their initial friction feels natural, not forced, and the way they slowly shift from irritation to understanding to genuine care is beautifully paced.

When the city threatens their neighbourhood with redevelopment unless they can prove there are enough married couples living there, Laurel and her unlikely partner decide to get married.
There’s just one tiny problem…

I absolutely adored the relationship between these two! Their opposite personalities made for some hilarious moments, but it was the quieter scenes that really got me. Watching their fake marriage slowly turn into genuine care, trust and love was just so heartwarming.
Of course, things get complicated when someone threatens to expose their secret, and suddenly everything they’ve built is at risk.

When FMC and MMC agree to fake a marriage to help save their neighborhood, the plan was simple: fake married, set rules, keep their houses and no real feelings. One tiny little problem, he's her best friend's ex husband. I'll admit, I was skeptical going in because of the best friend's ex situation. In real life, that's a line I wouldn't cross! But somehow, in this story, I couldn't help but root for these two.
Between kitchen, porch conversations, constest and all those everyday moments, their fake marriage slowly becomes something much more. Their opposite personalities created plenty of hilarious moments. but it was the quieter scenes that stole my heart. Watching their fake marriage turn into genuine care, trust, and love was so heartwarming.

Apparently I need a little more dysfunction in my romance because these people were almost too cute for me . This was sweet, easy to read, and had a premise I really liked. I just kept waiting for it to lean a little harder into the tension and messiness because the potential was definitely there. A little cheesy for my personal taste, but still a really enjoyable read and I’d absolutely pick up another book by this author.

It was a really quick cute read. I definitely wouldnt call it enemies to lovers more like acquaintances to lovers.
There were some parts I didnt follow until a little later in the story.
I would recommend this book to those who want a cute quick read with no spice which is great cause sometimes we all need a break from spice.

This was a truly charming story - an enemies-to-lovers tale with a clean, wholesome storyline.
I wasn't sure how it would end, and I will try not to spoil anything. Laurel and Kas are barely acquaintances, yet they agree to get "married" to save the neighborhood. No one is prepared for all that is to follow.
All in all, this is a fast, sweet, fun read.

I did not find that they were enemies to lovers but more acquaintances. They had to get to know each other and if they were enemies they would know at least something about the other. It was a cute read but not a lot of romance. I found a few things funny but wanted more romance. It did feel like a fake marriage and not sure when it changed because it just never felt like more than friends.

I enjoyed this story. Loved the sense of the small community where everyone knows everyone and it feels like family. It was different than i thought it would be, i expected a cheeseball campfest, and it was not that. It warmed my heart and made me crave my morning coffee. Definitely worth your time to read.

I would recommend it to everyone one and I love the characters and I love the cover and I want to reread it again

This story was a very sweet rom com. Honestly it gave me Gilmore girls and Stars Hollow town vibes. With the friendly banter and neighborly community there wasn't anything to not love. I did find the story line and dialogue a bit hard to follow at times but the humor and overall story as a whole over road that. Definitely reccomend if your looking for a lighthearted fun read or it would be great for a teen audience.
