A friend, a fellow dog lover, gave me this book for Christmas '18. Since it is all short stories, it was my book to read when I had maybe 15 mins. available. Getting back into a deep book is something that requires, in my case, at least a half hour. This took me a while to get through... but I loved every minute of it.

The book, Paws from Heaven, edited by Callie Smith Grant, touched my heart from the moment I started reading the first story. This book is a collection of true stories from around the world about dogs, cats, and a few other pets that changed the lives of their owners and other people in their lives, with the help of God. There are two parts to the book, a cat section for cat lovers and a dog section for dog lovers. Either way, there is a story in this book for everyone to connect to! A majority of the stories are filled with laughter and love. My favorite story is from the dog section called They Protect Their Children by Sherrie Gallagher (page 174). It's about a family that lives in New York and has a clan of German Shepherds that protect their kids, whether it is from the bus driver or sickness. Part of the story takes place when one of the children, Sherrie Gallagher, is about four and gets really sick with pneumonia. Her dog Mounty never leaves her side, and when Sherrie gets dangerously sick, he saves her life. There are a lot of themes presented in Paws from Heaven. For instance, the story On a Farm is about enjoying the little things God gives you in life, and in this case, it's a little of kittens. Another story called When Scooter Met Scott, teaches you to never give up on family members, when a son with schizophrenia finally comes to visit his parents after they get another dog, Scooter. The overall moral of this book is to always trust God to bring you out of the darkness and into the light, because when you need Him most, He will be there.

Amazing true stories about animals. The first half of the book has stories about cats that were great. The second half has stories about dogs. I think I cried over all the dog ones, not because they were sad but I cry over happy things too. Im just a super emotional person. Especially when it comes to animals.
