This down-to-earth exploration of natal chart interpretation shows the familial, male-female patterns in the zodiacal signs and the potentials they hold in combination with planetary energies and house symbolism. Our personalities are strongly influenced by what was happening around us when we were infants and whether our needs were met. Lundsted explains that our natal chart is our parent's transit chart, therefore revealing the truth of our childhood family dynamics. Once we understand these dynamics, Lundsted helps us move beyond laying blame on our parents by identifying the compensating strengths revealed in the chart. She also shows us that the typically classified difficult or hard aspects in the chart actually hold the key to our transformation.
One of the worst books I've ever read, honestly, I'm sorry to say. I couldn't finish reading it. My copy isn't an updated version, it's the original from 1980... which is why I can forgive the author for the many outdated, offensive things she says. At one point, I had to put the book down and collect myself because she said basically women who dress proactively are asking to be raped and that men can't help it. I kid you not. The text is very demeaning to women as a whole, in my opinion, even though the author is a woman. & it pretty much only gives examples of typical nuclear families, & doesn't mention things about single parents or alternate lifestyles. I could go on & on about why this book hurt my head to read, but I think you get the point. Read something else.
I read it due to a recommendation by someone who was all fed up by gender roles, and recommended the book for a better understanding of the polarity of feminine, muscline, and androgynous energy. It cheers me up to see Betty talking about Anima and Animus, and the whole Jungian concepts, as I have struggled myself in relation to the whole gender thing, and the Jungian concepts, along with many other things too, had helped me a lot.
I haven't payed attention to the publication date, but when she said we are about to enter the Aquarius age, which means Aquarius in Uranus in specific, I knew that this book is written before 2000s.
Nope. I'm not gonna say "Fuck this shit" but only because this book is a very old, outdated book. It's way too old to be even considered as offensive. We're in 2020s now. Go find a modern astrology book. You'll be better off.
Much of the language in this book is quite outdated, so I’d only recommend it if you’re able to re-interpret some older concepts and offensive language independently. Upon revisiting for the second time, though, there’s some really good information in here. You just need to have some grace for antiquated ways of thinking. It’s definitely not a beginner book, though.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ - This book was fine. I didn’t hate it enough to quit reading it but I probably wouldn’t read it again.
The beginning of this book is an overview of basic astrological concepts. I enjoyed most of the things she had to say- but some seemed a little off kilter and biased. It's hard to be unbiased in astrology, though. The interpretations of aspects were all very insightful and I enjoyed them immensely. I use this book often when needing a little refresher or outside opinion.
