Holly f*ck, I've almost forgotten how good these shorties were!!
Scorching hot scenes, and a plot that seems regular but that keeps growing and growing, and keeps you there just as it has been a soap opera.
Wow. .. good.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I didn’t see that one coming.
Now it happens that Mason’s sexual preferences started with Dana, I mean he had to struggled for a long time with the strong attraction he had to his little sis (she was 16, hello???) so he had a little help with a few submissive maids that introduced him to the world of BDSM.
And now the only person that he had love and that has been his more unobtainable, almost impossible treasure during all his life is there right at the reach of his hand is giving herself entirely to him, but he has no clue of how to treat her, ‘cause if he gives in … he’s staining his little angel and also he can’t have her in an easy way ( he doesn’t do vanilla for long, remember!)
description

Adding to it the fear of ruinning their reputations, given that they used to be stepsiblings and that his father has a goal to end with his career as well as his success he is not willing to sacrifice her for a chance to have what he has always dreamed and crave for…HER
description

So what does he find better to do?
He’ll let her have a taste of what he really is hoping for her to run scared away.
Yeah people a BDSM trial if you may.

But what he is not counting with is that when he’s not able to control himself when he’s near her, and that sweet little angel Dana is no longer an innocent, quite child…but rather an sexy and enticing woman that is willing to do whatever it takes to have what she has always craved for with all her heart…HIM
description

Me?
I’m so f*cking angry!!! they are not blood related! For heaven’s sake! why the hell do they , rather why the hell does he have to care about what everyone will have to say about their relationship?!!! They’re no longer family, hey don’t share blood and neither of them have a regular relationship with their parents…so what the hell is wrong with trying?!!!!!
And about Dana, girl great way to go, keep enticing him until he can no longer differ himself from a shadow due to the lust and love he has for you!!!
And the BDSM trial? Yeah I haven’t read new initiations in that theme since a very long time, but I don’t care…here it’s not that simple but rather discovering themselves and how apparently both are perfectly made for each other. Oh dear!!! I’m melting each time that Mason seems so out of himself due to his craving for her, such brutal craving and how he just loses all conscience of what’s wrong & right …’cause the only thing it exist in front of him is just…Dana.
I’m just…

As the story continues with part two, we get to see some heat between these two as Dana pushes Mason to his breaking point to get her hands on what she’s always wanted. But alongside the present playing out, we get a glimpse back at the night that seems to have changed everything all those years ago.

Although the steam was high, the story never got to a place where I had any real feelings towards these two. It felt like the story was focused too much on that flashback and then on the sex to really give the characters more shape. I was really hoping to dig into part two and find some connection to these two, but sadly it just wasn’t happening for me.

This part was just hot. Dana knows what she wants, and is not going to let Mason walk away from her. Mason is still so amazing, but his daddy is a piece of work. And another cliffy....

The story of Mason and Dana continues exactly where Stepbrother, Mine #1 left us ... With Dana asking the dreaded question. Pushing for answers for the past. Trying to breakdown walls for the future ...

One of the best and most romantic things that happens in this installment is the view Opal Carew gives us into the past. Not only is Dana seeking answers for things that took place in their past, but I as a reader am so invested in their growing relationship, that I crave those answers myself. The style in which this book is laid out for us is unlike any 'stepbrother' book I have ever read. This is a true romance story with feelings and growth and trust and love. Opal weaves the past into the present seamlessly. This story is perfection. #TRUTH

Mason is a man who desires with all his being. And he desires Dana like no other. There has never been another. She's it. Always has been. But he's insecure and scared and running from his past and trying to protect Dana from an evil he's not sure he can fight ... And Dana .. well Dana just wants Mason <3 #LOVE

I am still very much in 'serious' love with Mason. He is kind, charming, warm-hearted and would do anything for Dana. Always would. Since the day they met ten years ago. Same goes for Dana. She is soft-heart and kind, a little on the naive side on a lot of things, but she's strong and self-sufficient at the same time. They make the perfect pair ... it is destined :)

The road to HEA .... to be continued

I have to start this by saying I normally love Opal Carew's books but this one just didn't work for me. I did like the premise and a lot of the pieces but felt it just wasn't executed as well as she normally does. I kept reading because I had all three and wanted to continue to take it Mason. I do like Mason because his heart was always in the right place. Stepbrother, Mine gets just 3 stars from me.

Stepbrother, Mine: Part Two

The Characters

Dana
Mason

The Story

This part was 67% sex, 29% flashback and 4% story progression.

Apparently too much sex is now my pet peeve. It’s not adding to the story, in fact it’s getting to the point of boring me so I want to put down the book. But, let me quit before I rant too long.

This was a little better. Told in alternating POVs between past and present, we can definitely see the bond these 2 had, despite the 10 year age difference. Them finally having sex made sense. But things take a weird turn towards the end and I'm wondering where this is going to go.

Eeesh. I was not a fan. Several things:

1. Absolutely nothing forbidden here. Their parents weren't even married anymore. And it was for 3 years. Snore.
2. He has multiple partners at the beginning with graphic scenes. And no condoms. With 3 "subs". I hate the word "sub". Ugh.
3. He has sex with heroine. Without a condom.
4. He practically forces her into a threesome with another man. Again, no condom.
5. He has sex with another woman not previously listed. No condom.
6. Her entire introduction to his lifestyle was like throwing her into a river with a heavy current and she doesn't know how to swim. And he loves her? Way to show it, asshole.
7. Overused tropes. Multiple ones.
8. They basically just rehash their past interactions for 2-3 weeks and live HEA. ???? snore.
9. Page 215. His punishment? Fuck you, dude. That's apparently a hard limit for me. Completely unreasonable on his part, it was his fault he lacked self-control Which would be fine in a teasing-punishing manner. But not a real one.
10. Page 222 until the end. This should have been a serious discussion. And the end was abrupt as fuck.

One thing I did like. Literally ONE:

(In response to selling her virginity.)

"It's your decision, but I still think it's a good idea. I gave my virginity to a dumb jock in high school, and all I got out of it was a pregnancy scare."

Bonus points: I guess it's interesting that he wiped his face after "devouring" her. That's rare. I don't really CARE. But I'm trying to give this book something for being original.

Stepbrother Mine is a novel in 3 parts. I will review each part individually.

I should start with saying I don't normally read the whole "Stepbrother" trope. It's not my thing and typically leaves me feeling all sorts of dirty. But, I am a huge fan of Opal Carew and decided to give this one a try. I am glad I did. Opal has a way with writing erotica. Her books are typically super short and very taboo. Yet, you're not left feeling like you were rushed or you missed something. Better yet, the characters are well-developed. You find yourself falling into the story and falling for the characters.

In this second installment, we get to know Mason (the stepbrother). Mason is a practiced Dom who finds himself bored. Everything just seems so routine for him. Mentioning this to a friend the friend the friend gives him his login info for a service that basically gives rich men the opportunity to take a woman's virginity. For the right price, of course. Not really interested, but idly curious Mason finds himself scrolling through the website when he stumbles upon the one woman that not only brings out his protective instincts in spades, but the woman that he's found it hardest to resist.

Great second Installment in The Stepbrother Mine series by Opal Carew.

I love the way Opal Carew so effortlessly pens her words on paper. Capturing the characters, the love, the heat and emotions within. Giving us the reader a solid plot and a story line that flows .

This author writes so much detail into such a short novella, nothing missed. It has everything one could want from a erotica - love story. Great characters, background, depth and definition and an ending that leaves you wanting more. Sexy, downright delicious sex scenes, and scorching chemistry, your reader will be on fire.

This story alternates between past and present POV's, we get to see ten years prior as to circumstances that happen between Mason and Dana.

The final build up we waited for happens, and Dana gets her guy. I liked her forceful behaviour in this story. We see Mason's struggle with what is right and what is wrong. His torn emotions and his love that spanned over ten years he really is just in denial haha.

Dana however has known what she has wanted since the moment upon seeing Mason and does not give in. She is a seductress in this story, showing Mason what he is missing out on. Luring him in until he has no self control left :D

A sexy second installment that will leave your blood pumping and loins tingling.

A forbidden fantasy, love awakened, and erotica unleashed.

This second entry in the stepbrother trilogy gives us a look at the past and how some of the changes in the present are even more surprising. Mason and Dana are heading to the point of no return, and Dana wants to seal the deal in the worst way. Meanwhile Mason wants to do the right thing, and not make Dana feel she owes him her virginity at the price of her education. There is a meeting of the minds (and bodies) and the flashbacks gave me a bit of whiplash. Overall I did enjoy this second entry just fine, but I am definitely primed to read the third part of this story. It seems like maybe some danger and scandal are on the horizon!

A very steamy Part 2 picks up where part one ends. We find out through flashbacks why Mason leaves. It seems a lot of the story is told through flashbacks. In this installment Dana pushes Mason until he loses control. But there is still trouble brewing for the new lovers. We have to wait for the next installment to see how the past and the future is resolved. For those who love installment romances, Opal Carew is for you. She gives you just enough to keep you hanging around for the next one.

The plot thickens when people from the past show up. But I still felt a bit disconnected with the characters.

Eight years ago…
Well, this is a story of a love that had started for a young girl in her teen years and a man who was in his twenties. Nothing sexual and neither knew how the other felt. It wasn’t until Dana was of age 18 and Mason 28 that she on the night of her prom being, his dad and her mom, were not there to see her off. Mason was although she would have rather been going with him, she knew she could after all was her step-brother by marriage.
As she descended the stairs that night in her prom dress Mason noticed she was the most beautiful he had ever seen her. Their eyes connected and he wondered if his eyes were blazing with as much passion as he saw in hers. He assumed it was for her prom date that would be there soon. When she gets to the bottom of the stairs he tells her how beautiful she looks. She lunges at him and engulfs him in a deep French kiss. He gets into it. Holding her tight and close enough she could feel his member she moans and he remembers he shouldn’t be doing this. He sends her on her way with her date.
He is so sexually frustrated he goes into his office at the house to have a drink and the maid who he is sure she is doing her father offers to help with his needs. Out of anger for her and lust for Dana he agrees. As they get started, Maria the maid says she likes it rough. When done he goes up stairs getting the weird feeling like they weren’t alone and he thought he had heard something. But he knew that there was no one there since he had sent Dana off to the prom himself so she was gone already. Or was she? Was this the end for Maria? Or the beginning of Mason’s dark bedroom secrets? Can Dana face him the next morning? You’ll have to read the 3 part book.
Well, as most of you know I have a real problem with whole books being broken up and then left with more questions. This is not alone book. I feel like I was unsettled again at the end. Not to mention once again another Dom and Sub book turning dark. I’m dreading reading the next book I think. I don’t like dark. I give this book 3 stars. Provided by netgalley.com

Title: Stepbrother, Mine
Author: Opal Carew
Publisher/Year: St Martin's Press 8/4/15
Length: 51 pages
Series: Stepbrother Mine #2

Overview

Meet Mason. He is used to getting what he wants. The head of his own corporate empire, he has wealth, means, and no shortage of beautiful women ready to fulfill his every need. But despite having it all, Mason is bored. Until he comes face-to-face with a woman from his past—one who will do anything to get what she wants. But is her desire for Mason worth the risk?

My Thoughts

And the story continues - we are at a point where Dana has pushed Mason to the point that he's going to give in to her, but at what cost. And so we see how their feelings are still a point of contention, how they are obviously attracted to one another, but Mason will go to any length to keep her at arms length.

While expected and predictable, i think that there's an element of depth to this story since we continue to get the flash backs and return to present day. Things become clear as to why Mason left the house and why Dana felt rejected - and why she's acting as she is.

Ms. Carew - our gifted author continues to keep us really interested in the heat and passion between these two, even when it's taking quite some time to get ot the point where Mason fulfills the contract. It's not until the last few pages that we see things get interesting. He calls her Sylvie - the name of one of his subs, which of course raises questions, and then there's the reappearance of Maria - the maid that ruined everything back all those years ago.

The point where we're left - well it's a bit nuts. While we expected to see the outcome a bit, i think that it'll be even more interesting to see what happens since their worlds are going to get flipped upside down. Dana's professed her love and admitted that she's more invested than she wanted. Mason's got an emotional tie to her, but won't really act on it. and there are all these outside factors that are about to wreak havoc on them. on that note, i've downloaded #3 and i'll have to dive into that in a little bit.

This book was published as 3 novella’s over three weeks. This review will cover all 3 books in one review as they were all quite short I thought it better to add my views on one review. Warning this review may contain spoilers for all 3 books.
The story is about Dana and Mason. Dana has been cut off my her mum and she needs money to carry on with her fees so one of her friends suggests she sells her virginity on a website. The ad is then seen by Mason who it turns out was her stepbrother a years ago but he suddenly disappeared from Dana’s life and then her mum and step father separated. Mason never intends to take what he has paid her he just wants to help Dana.
Book 1 is about Dana and Mason reconnecting and getting to know each other and we get flash back to the previous times together. It was great to see their relationship when they were younger and how Mason cared for Dana in the absence of her mum and to keep her out of the her step fathers reach.
In book 2 we learn about why Mason disappeared and left Dana and their relationship begins to grow. This book also introduces a BDSM element that I wasn’t expecting as Mason seemed different with Dana. He seemed so caring so I was surprised when he told Dana he wanted this kind of relationship even if it was to push her away.
Book 3 sees their relationship intensive and Dana goes from being very inexperienced to having a lot of BDSM situation thrown at her by Mason but will their relationship to more?
All three books flowed well and the plot was well written with lots of twists in the story. Books 1 and 2 do end in a cliff hanger so I was pleased I had all three to read back to back. At many points in the book it gets hot and steamy. Something happened in book 3 which I felt was a little rushed and could have been extended further. Each novella is fairly short (about 80 pages) so I read all three in a couple of hours.
Overall a great sexy hot read that I really enjoyed.

The time has come for her to finally have him and it’s beautiful.

The second part of this series was erotic, sensual just so yummy. Dana wanted to sell her virginity because she needed to pay for college and her stepbrother ended buying her contract. Now in the first installment there was that little sneaky picture she took of her stepbrother well that comes back to bit her in the butt but she has no idea. Now I totally understand why Mason wanted for Dana to take off the maid outfit that she wore which I don’t blame him.

Dana and Mason have this night planned but as usual nothing goes as planned. They end up staying in and something amazing happens and Dana gets her wish. Only that things don’t pan out the way she thought and ends up crying in the bathroom. But guess what that is not the only thing and one more guess you will have to read the story to know what happens in the end. But then again it ends in another cliffhanger and I can’t wait for the next book because I want to know if Mason will be able to protect Dana.

Stepbrother, Mine #2 was an excellent read. I loved every single minute that they were together but didn’t like that Mason was not opening up to Dana. It seemed that Dana was telling him all her secrets except for one. I love that Mason treated her like she deserved but didn’t like that he broke her heart. I know that the bad things need to happen before the happily ever after but Dana deserves not to be alone and to find that one person to love her. I love reading about what happened in the past not only with Dana but also Mason because with his story now I know I really dislike his father.

I totally recommend this read!!!

This was a great continuation of the novel in three parts. It picked up right where Stepbrother, Mine #1 left off. Will he or won't he...that is the ultimate question. Mason has paid to be the one that takes Dana's virginity but he doesn't want to do it, well he does but doesn't think he should. He would much rather give her the money that she needs and leave her intact so that she can find someone that she loves and give that gift to him. I love the flashbacks they we have in this part, it shows us much more of what happened in the past, we have flashbacks to her prom night and that one night has such an effect on what happened to them its crazy to think about how one changing one thing and their lives would have been so different.

Opal Carew has pulled me in (like only she can do) and I need to know what happens next, (we are left with a cliffy) so I am off to read Stepbrother, Mine #3, I have my fingers crossed that Chas gets whats coming to him and that Mason and Dana can find their HEA.

Note: This ARC was provided by St. Martin's Press in exchange for an honest review.

This second installment explains why Mason left the home he shared with Dana and their parents eight years ago and his feelings for her all those years ago are clearer. Readers also see exactly why Mason was protective of Dana when she was still a teenager and what kind of man his father really is. His first foray into BDSM is also brought to light here, as well as how that one incident affected both his life and Dana's.

Dana gets a tiny taste of Mason's need for dominance and control, and her reaction to it could be the very thing that either makes or breaks their relationship. Mason, of course, doesn't want his BDSM kink to touch Dana because he doesn't think she's the kind of woman that would welcome or understand it, and it's an integral part of his life, something that he appears unwilling to change even for the woman he cares for.

I was surprised by the re-appearance of someone from Mason's past and the role she currently plays in his life. I couldn't help but wonder if her being there was what it appeared to be or if it was a ploy to destroy Dana and Mason's relationship. So far, the story has continued to be entertaining, and this second serial is a read that anyone could finish in less than an hour. It certainly had me raring to find out how it all ends.

For the few years their parents were married Dana had strong feelings for her stepbrother Mason. Ten years older he showed her more love than her parents ever thought of. Now he is back in her life trying to help her make her dreams come true.

In this book we pick up where the first installment left off; literally, this book gives you a reminder of the last few pages of #1 and then moves on with the story. I really don’t think you should read this one if you haven’t read the first – it is not a stand-alone.

This book got better for me as Dana and Mason were more honest about their feelings; there was also fewer flashbacks. Some unexplained issues still nagged at me, but since the steam level picked up the issues weren’t in the forefront. While I give this a higher score than the first installment it didn’t improve on character development much; I still don’t feel like I know either of these characters, and I am definitely not vested in them. There is a crisis at the end of this book that leads you into #3. I wasn’t sure where the series would go from there – so I kept on reading.

This installment is short, this one seemed the shortest out of the three. I read it in under an hour.

ARC given from NetGalley in exchange for a honest review

I am kind of into the whole Stepbrother thing right now.. I am really enjoying them.. I am going to put my review for all 3 books together..
Dana is a college student.. She is in dire (sp) need of some money.. So how is she going to get it?? Well lest sell our virginity… Yep that should do..
Mason is a very very wealthy business man.. sexy beyond words.. but he is also Dana’s Stepbrother… (well used to be stepbrother) see her mom and his dad have divorced now..
See Mason is the big winner.. and this is where these two reconnect… Throughout the books we get glimpses into the past..
Dana has always had such strong feelings for Mason during the few years they spent together.. I think he showed her more caring and compassion towards her then her own mother did..
We get some hotness with these two.. Dana pushing Mason.. because as I said she has always had these feelings towards him.. Now that she has him.. she is not letting him go..
There were parts in this book where Mason was a A$$ and maybe its him trying to push her away because he wants to protect her.. IDK.. but all in all I did enjoy the read… Thank you NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to read this series. 

This one let me down

So this second book in the series literally picks up from the end of book one and I did appreciate that it does give a very brief recap of the way book one ends. Unfortunately from there while the steam picks up the development of the characters flattens out. We get a few more flashbacks to explain a little of what happened on prom night, but after reading that I really don't get how Dana has pined for Mason over the years. Further I find it disturbing that Mason's go to fetish when we meet him in book one is really a recap of what he experienced years before with someone else. That was disturbing to me and it makes me question what he could really feel for Dana.

I also didn't like the language in this book. Mason, Mr. Dominant would never use the flowery language that is used when he thinks about his prior and current encounters with Dana, I just couldn't buy it. Of course, being a serial read we are left with the dreaded cliffhanger and even though this book didn't do it for me I am eager to begin the next to see if Mason can salvage my impression of him.

When Dana's mother remarried she formed a crush on the one man in her life her showed her any form of love or kindness, her new stepbrother Mason. When her mother decides she will no longer pay for college Dana does the only thing she can think of to get enough money quickly. Mason see's what she is doing and buys her contract with no intentions of actually fulfilling it. He just wants to help her financially and get her off that site. Can it stay plutonic like Mason wants it to or will Dana win and make him her first? Can these two be happy without each other in the end?

I am usually iffy about the whole step sibling romance but well they are my kryptonite for some reason. Opal Carew however did an amazing job writing this book. I loved the characters and the development of the story. Opal has quickly become one of my favorite authors. Her series have a way of making you want more even when they are over. All three parts flowed effortlessly and seemlessly. I would love to learn more about Dana and Mason. I can't get enough of Opal's books and can't wait for the next series I can get my hands on.

I received this book as an ARC from Net Galley for my honest review

In the first book Dana is down on her luck and with little options to choose from she makes the very drastic choice to pull her "V card" and sell it to the highest bidder.Mason purchases Dana's V card to scare her...but ends up making her an offer she can not refuse.

In the second book we get flash backs into the past showing how things were when Mason and Dana met and the dynamics of that relationship. I feel as though this second part of the book is very much needed to fully grasp Mason and Dana's relationship.

In this book things really start to heat up and get exciting. This is a very good start to a very good series. This book is on sale right now for 2.99 on Kindle Amazon and I think that is a very good price.

I must admit at first I was freaked out by the whole step brother thing but Opal Carew did a great job breaking down the relationship so you know exactly how things went between both Mason and Dana's parents.

Overall very good book for a great price.

I received a copy of this story though NetGalley from St. Martin's Press for an honest review. Book 2 in the 3 part series picks up immediately where book 1 left off and we get more flashbacks/background about Dana and Mason's relationship and why Mason walked away 8 years ago. Opal Carew did a great job building enough in the present to have me on the edge of my seat to find out what were the different scenes that created misunderstandings or complications. She doesn't make you wait long or drag it out, but seamless switches between past/present to keep you engaged in the story. I am most definitely not a fan of flashbacks, but this was done very well. I liked how honest Dana was about her past and current feelings for Mason when he asked her what she thought would happen between the two of them. I liked that he's different with her and is so caring.

Although this is not the cliffhanger or a catastrophic issue, but... Sylvie. Ouch. Dana handled it a lot better than I would.

3.5 stars

In this next installment, we learn more of the backstory of Dana and Mason, why he left and what really happened on prom night. You also learn who Maria, who was mentioned in book one, actually is.

This one was better than the first installment, it was helpful to learn a little more about the characters and have a few things explained but because it is a three part serial, it still feels really choppy.

My thoughts:

Quick hook or slow starter? 4 (this one picks up right where the last one leaves off)
Character development: 4
Level of Romance between characters: 3.5
Passion/Heat level: 4(more passion in this one for sure)
Angst/Heartbreak: 3(still not really angsty)
Cliffhanger?: yes, you are left wondering what will happen next.

Overall, I enjoyed it better than part one but it still wasn't great. Anxious to see how it will all wrap up.

I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Stepbrother, Mine #2

This story was gifted to me in exchange for an honest review by Net Galley.

I was surprised on how much I enjoyed the first segment of this story when the characters are introduced and I eagerly started this one. I had to know whether Mason would get his way and be able to just gift Dana the money or whether Dana would eventually loose her virginity to the one that she had always dreamed of giving it too.

We also learn that his father is evil and has had his eye on Dana for years and would do anything to hurt both Mason and Dana. The father was the reason that Mason left the house many years ago and ruined the only true friendship that Dana had during her teenage years.

Mason and Dana continue to become closer to one another and only time will tell how close they will get.

I thought Opal Carew did a great job with this second installment, many of my questions where answered and many more came up. On to the last segment. A 5/5 read for sure.

Netgalley for an honest review.

This is the on going story of Dana and Mason and the progression of their relationship as well as more background into their past.

Can I just say this series becomes even more disappointing as we progress. We have the continuation of learning more about Dana and Mason's story. And I have to say that I was hoping to become more connected to the characters but it didn't happened in this book and their development was stagnant too, sad to say.
The back drop of Mason's introduction and initiation into the Dom life style just didn't work for me. Dana's character became even less likable in this book as well as she had no depth.

This cannot be read as a stand alone.
