The Wake is a compelling and shocking cautionary tale about elder abuse, neglect, and exploitation. It takes you on a journey that spans time from 1879 to 2008, from humble immigrant beginnings, and the fulfillment of the American dream, to the ultimate devastation of an elderly man by vicious predators. This book is about loss that is more than death. It is a story about an old man’s fall into a web of deception, as he loses his family, his money, his dignity, and finally his life. It reveals the evil darkness and avarice of predators descending upon the elderly.
Again Gary Black's writing had me in the very first paragraph....I could not put it down....read half of the book in one night...but only because I wanted to savor it....I did NOT want it to end. Hope there is a sequel!
I do not understand why we can't show the cover. So see the cover please go to Amazon.
Eye opener exposing elder abuse
Deception slowly creeps into this story of an elderly person’s abuse, neglect and exploitation. The evil that lingers in the shadows is carefully and emotionally brought to light as a shocking unbelievable progression of events that lead to an elderly mans destruction. Laszlo is lured away from his loving family into a snare devised by predators driven by soulless greed. As the layers of suspense build, it becomes harder to put the book down. Could not wait to see what would happen next in this revealing drama of elder abuse. Ending alludes to a possible second book.
