Abandonado

Rate this book

Exquisite. I bought this book because it was a low price, I had no expectations and maybe that's why I was too surprised.

The author makes a brief reference to the film Dogville, by Danish Lars von Trier, which suggests that it is a solid, gloomy and heterogeneous work.

The cover gives the idea of flickering because it is necessary to stop, concentrate and after a while understand what is happening there. In the back cover and excerpts of the book, we have the reference of film noir.

The author's writing is impeccable, mature and comes to be a poetic and philosophical mixture that mixes reality and fiction in an uncomplicated and attractive way.

This tragic novel revolves around Alberto Franco, an early career screenwriter, and an informal journalist. I confess one thing: I had a few moments of anger and indignation reading the book. Think of a protagonist who loves being made of a fool! Especially when it comes to Clara, a Stunner and actress on the rise, and what's so beautiful, she's manipulative.

Alberto and Clara begin to relate, but in no time there is a demonstration of love between them, we only observe sexual desire and useless attempts of benevolence. Both possess strong personalities, and one thing that makes Alberto even more interesting is that he is of those who think and does, without thinking twice and much less think of the consequences of their actions.

Sometimes the narrative amazes us due to the high load of events in one chapter and occasionally in the same paragraph.

"Abandonado" is a book that makes you feel used, desolate, for sale and abandoned. But who says this is bad? It shows directly that we often sell our leisure hours to submit to humiliations and constraints, where we don't even demand our rights. This is due to the fear of losing employment, friendship or any kind of link that gives us an advantage. It shows that we have to wake up to life and give another direction to the future we want.

For a book that was purchased randomly, "Abandonado" left me selfless by the effect of the troubled storyline.
