You Keep On Giving

A Warren Honey spin-off novella
York

It’s time to get the family to gather for our annual week-long holiday celebration. I’m excited to spend time with my family and take a break from all the chaos at work. That is, until my mother informs me she’s bringing a guest this year. Even though I hired a caterer to handle all of our meals, she insists on bringing her personal chef and she won’t take ‘no’ for an answer. Now, my relaxing family vacation is going to be invaded and I have to worry about entertaining a stranger I’ve never met. An enchanting stranger that I can’t seem to keep my eyes off of.

Sage

I love my job. I have the best boss in the world but when she finds out I’m spending Thanksgiving alone, she’s insistent that I join her in Colorado for a week-long visit with her family. I had been planning on spending the week alone but it’s impossible to say no to her. Now, I’m on my way to another state about to crash into this family’s annual celebration. The Snyder family seems lovely but as soon as we arrive, I’m stumbling into multiple embarrassing situations with the eldest son as a witness every single time. With each passing interaction I can’t stop thinking, what have I gotten myself into?

I actually really enjoyed the family dynamic in this one. I loved seeing York with his siblings, and the meddling mom was probably my favorite part. 😂 She was constantly getting involved, and I honestly found it so entertaining

My biggest issue was the romance between York and Sage. I needed way more scenes between them before they actually got together. Their attraction was immediate and felt almost entirely physical at first, and I never got enough of them actually getting to know each other or building an emotional connection.
By the time they were confessing feelings, talking about love, and missing each other after less than a week, I just wasn’t convinced. 😭 I needed to actually see them fall for each other instead of having the emotional part happen so quickly

I’m already pretty picky with novellas because there’s so little time to build a romance, and unfortunately, this one is a pretty big example of why. I needed more development between York and Sage to actually believe in their relationship.

The family scenes were cute, but unfortunately, the romance just didn’t have enough depth for me to connect with it 🤷🏼‍♀️

"You Keep On Giving" by Mercy Kay is a super spicy novella that is a very quick, easy read, but it lacks chemistry between the main characters. Sage (FMC) is a personal chef for Bea, who, upon finding out she was going to spend Thanksgiving alone, basically forces her to come to her family's holiday celebration. York (MMC) is happy to be spending the holiday with his family and has hired a caterer to go all out for the week, but is nervous about his mom's friend, who is a personal chef, hovering around. The two of them basically see each other twice during the early part of their Thanksgiving holiday week and *immediately* fall in love with each other. Now, I am not *necessarily* opposed to insta-lust/insta-love, I just don't really think these two specific characters have any chemistry apart from the physical. As individual characters, they are okay, but I needed a bit more from their pairing romantically. I love that Sage is plus-sized and that York adores and worships her and her curves. The spicy scenes are fine if you take them for what they are: two hot people hooking up without much else behind it. Even when something happens in the third act, I never truly got the sense that these two could meld their lives together seamlessly, mostly because they don't really know each other (apart from their bodies??!?!). In the end, I would definitely read this author again, but I feel I wanted more connection from the leads here.

Thank you to Mercy Kay and Luna Literary for the complimentary ARC of this book. All opinions are my own. I was not compensated for this review.

A nice little short and sweet novella!

Loved the curvy representation, and a (positively) meddling mother will get me every damn time.

There were a couple of moments where you’ve got to stretch the imagination a little to make it all work. The insta-love was INSTA insta-love. But honestly, it’s a novella. We’ve got places to be, people to fall madly in love with. I get it. 😂

A tasty little palate cleanser between bigger reads, quick, easy to devour, and just a good time. ✨

Cute book with some fall vibes! Sage gets invited to her boss’ house for the holidays and soon falls in love with her boss’ son. Not very spicy but had a couple scenes. I would suggest if you are looking for a quick thanksgiving read with light smut and a cute plot.

🍂 Sage Came for Thanksgiving and Found a Whole Family 🧡
⭐ 4 Stars 🌶️ 2 Chili Peppers

There is something about a short, cozy holiday romance filled with family chaos that makes for such an easy read, and You Keep On Giving gave me exactly that! 🍂🦃 Sage was prepared to spend Thanksgiving alone until her boss, Bea, basically decided absolutely not and brought her along for a week with her family in Colorado. Sage may have arrived as Bea's personal chef, but she definitely wasn't prepared for York.

And York certainly wasn't prepared for Sage. 😂 Their attraction is pretty much immediate, and these two fall FAST. York is completely taken with her from the beginning, and I had so much fun watching them attempt to navigate that attraction while surrounded by his very involved family.

One of my favorite parts was Sage herself. I loved having a plus-size FMC who was confident, capable, and genuinely good at what she did. Even the little moment of her making sure food labels were checked for allergens showed how thoughtful and attentive she was. I also really enjoyed seeing her think about what she wanted for her own career and having York support her rather than expecting her plans to revolve around him.

But the family dynamic was probably what won me over the most. 🥹 Sage went into the holiday expecting to be an outsider after originally planning to spend Thanksgiving alone, and instead she found herself welcomed into this big, loving, slightly chaotic family. Bea's meddling matchmaking had me laughing, especially since she wasn't exactly pointing Sage toward the right son at first. 😂

York and Sage definitely bring the heat too! 🌶️ Their physical chemistry was never the problem, and once they stopped fighting their attraction, things moved VERY quickly. York was possessive, attentive, and completely into Sage and her curves, which I loved.

The only thing keeping this from being a five-star read for me was just how quickly the romantic side developed. I can absolutely get behind insta-attraction and even insta-love, especially in a novella, but I wanted a little more time with York and Sage emotionally before they were completely all-in. At less than 150 pages, though, I knew this story had places to go and people to fall in love with! 😂

Overall, You Keep On Giving was a quick, spicy, low-angst holiday romance filled with Thanksgiving vibes, family meddling, found family, humor, plus-size representation, and two people who certainly weren't planning on finding love that week. It's the kind of story you can curl up with and easily finish in one sitting. 🍁❤️

This was such a fun, spicy holiday romance. I was immediately entertained by York and Sage, especially because their attraction was basically instant and neither of them was particularly good at hiding it.

Sage’s (private chef) relationship with Bea (employer) and the rest of York’s family was one of my favorite parts. She didn’t have a great relationship with her own family, so watching her slowly become part of this warm, chaotic family felt really sweet. Bea, in particular, was such a character, and I loved how much she cared about Sage.

And York… this man was gone for Sage from the moment he saw her. The jealousy, the sneaking around, the constant need to touch her, and the way he fussed over her when she got hurt had me smiling. Their chemistry was HOT, and the kitchen scene definitely lived up to expectations. I also appreciated that, despite how quickly everything moved, they actually communicated about what they wanted and where they stood. Instant attraction usually isn't my favorite, but the communication made it work for me here.

I also loved seeing Sage find an opportunity to pursue something she actually wanted career-wise, with York being completely supportive of her. Their relationship wasn't just about the physical attraction, even though there was plenty of that. I didn't expect that little scare towards the end, but it made it clear how they'll move forward.

The family dynamics, holiday setting, humor, spice, and low-angst romance made this such an easy and entertaining read. The pacing was fast, but I wasn't mad about it. It is a novella (less than 150 pages) so things needed to keep moving, great to get in the Fall mood.

A spicy, feel-good holiday romance with a possessive MMC, instant chemistry, found family, and plenty of entertaining family chaos. Definitely a fun one.

Thank you to Luna Literary and the author for the ARC!

If you’re looking for a shortcut sweet, and spicy novella that’ll get you right in the fall/Thanksgiving mood then You Keep On Giving is just the book you’re looking for. York and Sage really couldn’t be anymore opposite of each other and while they are definitely not enemies to start out with there’s definitely a professional detachment on both of their parts… that is of course until the sparks of attraction start to fly and Sage and York find those sparks impossible to ignore! And once they give in to those sparks well their attraction turns into so much more! I really enjoyed this novella, I enjoyed the characters pretty insta-love connection, and their sweet moments as well as the entire family dynamic of the Synder family in this book. If you’re looking for a novella that you can finish in one sitting and will want to finish in one sitting, full of romance, spice, banter, funny moments, just a little bit of drama to keep you on your toes and a happily ever after then I highly recommend adding this to your TBR today!

Thank you to the author for allowing me to ARC read this novella!

Needing a quick book in between your reads, or needing something quick to read to reach a goal? Then pick this book up. It’s such a cute, funny, spicy novella. Just know that this novella is very fast passed. From the time the two MCs meet to the time they get together is like 2 days. They fall for each other very fast and tell each other they love the other within a week. So if that’s something you don’t like then you probably won’t like this.
There’s some water mishaps, towels falling, an air hockey incident, spice, sneaking around, and more.
From the moment York and Sage laid eyes on each other, there was nothing that was going to stop them from inevitably getting together.
I think York’s mother Bea; who also happens to be Sage’s boss; brought Sage to their holiday week in hopes of setting her up with one of her boys. She’s a sneaky, meddling old lady.
I chuckled a few times while reading. From the towel mishap to the brothers bickering/banter, I loved it. I wish the book was longer so we got more time with the characters. I will definitely be reading the next one to find out what Bea and the family have in store for Reese.

****ARC READER REVIEW****

York and Sage had me feral from page one, two people trying (and failing spectacularly) to hide instant attraction while trapped in a holiday house full of loud, nosy relatives is my Roman Empire. Sage sliding into Bea’s chaotic, over‑affectionate family felt like watching a stray cat get adopted by a pack of golden retrievers, and I ate up every second of it. York? This man was gone for her. The jealousy, the hovering, the “oops I’m touching you again,” the kitchen scene that absolutely did not need to go that hard, he was basically a possessive Christmas tree with feelings. And despite the novella‑speed pacing, they actually communicated like adults, which made the insta‑chemistry feel earned instead of rushed. The career support, the found‑family warmth, the holiday chaos, the spice, the low‑angst sweetness, it all blended into the perfect fall‑season treat. I inhaled it in one sitting like a gremlin with a mug of cider. A fast, spicy, feel‑good holiday romance with a possessive MMC, instant chemistry, found family, and festive chaos.

3.75/5...This was such a sweet, cozy little holiday romance! I really enjoyed the forced proximity, the family atmosphere, and the chemistry between York and Sage. Their interactions had me smiling more than once, especially when Sage found herself in one embarrassing situation after another with York around.
I loved the warm, chaotic family dynamics and the overall Thanksgiving/holiday vibe. It gave the novella that comforting, feel-good atmosphere that makes for an easy seasonal read. York and Sage had a fun dynamic, and I appreciated how their relationship developed without the story feeling overly complicated.
That said, I did feel like the novella was a little too short for me. I wanted more time with the characters and more room for their romance to develop. Some moments felt a bit rushed, and I would have happily spent more time with this couple and the family.I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

You Keep On Giving by Mercy Kay is an uplifting and inspiring read that reminds us of the importance of generosity, kindness, and serving others. I really appreciated the book’s message that giving is about more than material things, it can be our time, encouragement, love, support, and compassion. What stood out to me most was the reminder to keep giving even when our efforts may go unnoticed or when we don’t immediately see the impact. The message encourages readers to be intentional about how they show up for others and to make a positive difference wherever they can. Overall, You Keep On Giving was a heartfelt book that encourages reflection and inspires a spirit of generosity.

This was such a cute, cozy holiday novella!

Sage is a plus-size FMC, and I absolutely loved her! I’m always happy to see plus-size women getting their happily-ever-after, and Sage had my heart from the start.

Thank GOD she was there to read all the labels and make sure there were no allergen issues because that little detail made me love her even more!

But my favorite part? The found-family feel. Watching Sage go from expecting to spend Thanksgiving alone to being welcomed into York’s family was so heartwarming.

And York’s mom?! THE MATCHMAKER ENERGY! I loved her meddling and watching her basically try to push York's brother and Sage together. Instead of York! LOL Hey not all moms get it right.

York and Sage had great chemistry, plenty of adorable moments, and just enough holiday chaos to make this a quick, feel-good read.

I honestly just wish we got MORE of them!

This story had such potential for a cute holiday romance: an independent FMC, a stoic MMC, and a meddling mom (who ended up being my favorite character). However, it pretty quickly shifted to just smut. If that’s your thing, more power to you, but I need spicy scenes to be balanced out with romance and a storyline. I wish we could have seen the main characters getting to know each other or at least having more than one or two surface level conversations before they’re “in love” and going at it nonstop during this family visit. I know it was a novella and therefore had limited pages to tell the story, but I feel like there wasn’t enough development to make me care about these characters or believe in their love. Not what I expected, unfortunately.

This was a quick and fun holiday novella. We have York and Sage who are forced together for Thanksgiving. York’s sister invited Sage so she wouldn’t have to spend it alone. York didn’t know about this but he is not looking forward to it. York just wants a stress free weekend with no worries. York and Sage have chemistry and tension from the start. There is a slight age gap and so many swoony moments.

I really enjoyed this book. Bea is visiting her son for Thanksgiving and is taking her personal chef Sage with her. This book is a true love at first site type of book! The attraction is there from the beginning and Bea's oldest son York just can't seem to catch a break when it comes to not embarrassing himself in front of Sage. Once they finally stop fighting the attraction, they are inseparable. I loved seeing how Sage quickly became the calming aura that York needed in a time of panic. They fell fast and hard, but always wanted to be there for each other. This book was really a cute holiday feel good love story with spice!!

Cute, low-angst holiday novella with a fun forced-proximity setup. I enjoyed the MMC ( York) and FMC (Sage) navigate being thrown together during the family’s Thanksgiving celebration, and their chemistry definitely kept me reading.

I liked the family dynamics and the cozy holiday atmosphere, and Sage’s awkward moments with York were entertaining.

Overall, a quick, sweet read with plenty of family chaos and spice.

When Sage gets invited to spend the week celebrating Thanksgiving and Christmas with her boss and her family, she didn’t anticipate the connection she’d have with York, her boss’ eldest son. You Keep on Giving is a cute holiday novella. Some of the scenes felt rushed to me and there was some grammatical errors but overall I enjoyed the family relationship and banter. Bea is a hoot and a typical meddling mom who just wants to see her son settle down.

I do like novellas because they are usually short and easy reads but I struggled with this one. It felt so much like an insta love, which is fine, but their relationship seemed purely physical at first and that they didn't even fall for each other, they just enjoyed the physical aspects of a relationship. The plot itself was great, the mom was hilarious, York had a great family.

This was such a sweet, swoon-worthy autumn novella! 🍂🍁

York and Sage had me completely invested in their romance. I’m always a sucker for an age-gap romance, and these two definitely brought the chemistry and the swoon.

I also absolutely adored the side characters! They added so much to the story and made the whole thing even more enjoyable.
