When you focus on one thing, one person, and one goal you’ll do just about anything to make it happen.
Frankie Cooper has grown up surrounded by her outrageous family in the small town of Edenville, North Carolina. The problem with growing up with a suffocating family is that even though her eighteenth birthday is behind her they still don't see her as an adult.
But when she’s finally in the arms of the man she’s been dreaming about, none of that matters. She’s been in love with Maxwell for years and nothing will get in the way starting her life with him. She only needs to prove to her family that she’s capable and then they’ll learn to let her go. Will she finally convince her family she’s ready to be on her own or will she come crashing back to reality and realize she’s thrown a match on the bridge that should lead her back home?
The Edenville Series: Book 1: Flowers in the Snow Book 2: Kiss in the Wind Book 3: Stars in a Bottle
Writing is a way to make a lot of different people do exactly what you want them to do. When I can’t get my toddler to listen to me, I turn to my characters. They always cooperate!
I currently live in Charlotte, North Carolina with my husband and seven year old son. I have perfected the ability to write in a noisy house and create story lines while folding laundry.
Ten Things to know about me:
1. I have a fear of whales. All whales. The noise they make. The sight of them (even on tv). I don't think this phobia has a name and I've never met anyone else who feels this way. I blame it on the 3D movie when I was 7 at the Boston Museum of Science. (Thanks Dad.)
2. When I get hungry it brings out the worst in me. My friends and family know to keep me well fed. They pack snacks now.
3. I can cook but not bake. Not even a little. Not even a box of brownies.
4. If there is a song I like it is normal to hear me listening to it a hundred times (give or take) in a row.
5. I do not, under any circumstances, read directions. Who has time for that? Making mac & cheese by the seat of my pants for the last 25 years.
6. Like a black-out drunk, I have lost hours of my life mysteriously to Pinterest. If you haven't tried it yet... don't. Save your self.
7. Before I became a mother, lots of things grossed me out. Now nothing does.
8. My favorite food is food... my least favorite food is no food. I love food. (apply the same rule to wine)
9. I do not have a green thumb. I have the kind of thumb that kills any type of plant ever given to me. Whatever kind of thumb that is... I have it.
10. Writing has changed my life. Not just the career it's created but the way I feel when I write. If you have something you love to do I hope you get the opportunity to do it.

Unlike the first two stories, Betty’s granddaughter becomes 18 and decides she’s grown up enough to go off on her own, take a train, halfway across the country and start a life with her boyfriend. She quickly finds, life is not what it seems, decisions that are made have ramifications and family can be hurt by these decisions. It’s a good story about growing up, finding put life is not as it seems. Good story but not as good as the previous ones, the reason for only 3 stars. Still worth a read.
I loved the Edenville series overall, but Stars in a Bottle as the final part left me wishing for more. It was a good coming of age story for Frankie, but the author could have made more of the correlation between that of the Native American situation which Frankie experienced, with that of the Afro-American situation that Grammy Betty experienced.
What an amazing author! All these books in the series have a meaning. They are not just a novel. All the characters are memorable as well as the cities and different places that we traveled on. These books are exceptional. I will be reading the fourth book in this series. I know it will be great. Each book and story has its own meaning behind it. I can't express my thoughts as I would like too. I always had that problem. I just know I loved all the books and the author is amazing!
Loved this book from Danielle. Frankie has grown up and ready to start college but she starts with hopping on a train and left a note with Betty her grandmother lol and when her family found out she is going to stay with Maxwell at his hotel her dad blows up and a man she stays with Shayna her best friend's family at the Native Indian Reservation where she meets Shayna’s brother Tao and then a love triangle begins and a story about a murder of an Indian girl 18 yrs ago
this is the first I read of this author , I really enjoyed this story , Frankie is 18 and wanting to find her way in life , leaving home to find the truth of what happened to girl who was murdered 17 years before , (touch's on Native American culture ), for her Journalistic career and to be with her boyfriend.. While Frankie is looking for the truth she finds herself growing up in more ways than one .
I have loved all of Danielle Stewart's books and series. This book, however, took a while for me to get into. I think because Franklin's boyfriend seemed selfish an narcissistic from the beginning. I wasn't rooting for them.
The more she got to know Tao, the more I wanted to read. And the fact that there wasn't a climatic ending makes me excited to read the next book. Again, I recommend this and all the Danielle Stewart books.
Another page turner. I absolutely love the Edenville series, all the characters, their stories. It's like opening a familiar box of "Precious Memories ". Looking forward to book #4.
Just love reading these stories. I am only sorry I do not have a porch with a swing seat. We should all have a Betty in our lives. On to book 4. Cannot wait. 😃
She is now 18 and wil! be heading off to college soon. She also has some plans for the summer that she has made. She forgot one thing...being 18 and an adult requires a little more than a note about those plans...
This third book was no where near as good as the first two. It’s was about a girl and two guys instead of issues faced by people in today’s world. I don’t think I would be willing to waste my time and money on a sub par love story
It taught me a lot on making decisions that may seem right in the moment, but if not talked about or thought about with others that have your best interest involved then it shouldnt be made on the spot all alone.
All the books in the series i was able to get in audio were wonderful. Really hard to put down, and there was lots of content that made you think. I just wish the last book was available in audio.
I choose this book because the characters on the cover were attractive and I wasn't disappointed. The author keep may attention and I was entertain throughout the book.I think that the ending came too quickly. I will keep this book and read it again.
this whole series was great, but i would love. to read more about Tao....i loved his character and felt like i was just beginning to know him when the book ended...i woyld also love to see Frankie go back to the reservation and be a voice for the people there.....
this whole series was a good read, but i would love to read and learn more about Tao and his culture. it felt like i was just getting to know him when the book ended. Also, i would love to see Frankie return to the reservation and become a voice for the people there.
Whenever I think Danielle Stewart CAN'T possibly deliver a story BETTER than a previous one, she absolutely does! This story is absolutely incredible. I love Frankie, I love the journey she takes, I love ALL the characters.
I try SO hard not to give anything away in my reviews and it is HARD!
This story is so beautifully told. There were many scenes in this story that so caught me heart but there is one particular scene, if I too close my eyes, I can picture being there, it's THAT vivid to me. I can picture the place as well as what both Frankie and Tao describe.
I know this is a work of fiction but the way Danielle tells a story, it's REAL. What folks in the story go through is REAL. She opens my eyes to cultures I'm not familiar with and gives me insight to their reality. Nothing in this story seems fake or forced...it flows beautifully and flawlessly.
As a parent, I could relate to not only Frankie, but to Frankie's parents, Michael and Jules and the way events transpired.
I wish I had the family that Frankie has - but I do in some ways because ALL the characters in Danielle's books are family to me. Each and every story brings me to folks I've gotten to know SO SO well over the past few years, I feel like I am part of their family. They certainly have MY heart completely.
BRAVO Danielle on delivering an OUTSTANDING read. Keep them coming because you ALWAYS amaze me!
I VERY HIGHLY recommend this story and believe it can be read as a standalone. Trust me though, you'll then want to read ALL the stories after reading this one!
This was the third book in the Edenville series and what a wonderful read it is. I originally picked up the first installment because it was a giveaway but so glad I decided to finish all three books.
This is Frankie's story. She has just turned 18 and she feels that she is an adult now and can make her own decisions and start life on her own. She follows her boyfriend, Maxwell, to Arizona with the intention of them living together and going to University together. Maxwell on the other hand has his own set of priorities which do include Frankie, but not in the way she had anticipated.
I am glad that I found this series and will recommend it, especially to my younger friends and family.
I love all of Danielle Steele's books. The Piper Anderson series and now the Edenville series are my favorites. When I read a book, I get lost in the characters and the settings. I put myself in the book. I find myself sitting on the porch at Betty's house, listening to everyone talk about the day or whatever trouble they have found. I was in Arizona with Frankie when she was trying to figure out her life and what to do. This book, Stars in a Bottle, was amazing. It kept me turning the pages. It allowed me to have a little bit of an adventure without leaving my room. Or my bed. I cannot wait for more. S
Another quick read. Helped by a train journey. Familiar characters - tho I feel that it's less important to have read the previous two stories to get enjoyment from this one. And it isn't dealing with quite such a difficult topic as either of the first two stories. In fact, in comparison, it feels rather light and fluffy. I'm glad I read it, but feels quite forgettable. Which isn't something I would say about the first of the series.
This is the third book of Edenville series. It was a good read . The story is about growing up
Betty is the grandmother and has stories to tell. Frankie is a granddaughter who is very intelligent. This story is a great lesson about growing up. Finding out about first love and how it develops. A person should never settle for less than what they really need and want. A great family story.
I really wanted to enjoy this book. I hated reading curse words out of the mouth of Frankie. I felt like some were uncalled for.
I loved that Frankie "found herself" in this book. She goes through what every young girl does at that age. She Wants be to an adult & is trying to figure out how to go about it. I love the lessons she's learned and humility she had to go through. So sad there isn't another book. I love this authors way with words and telling a story. This was a great series!
The story ended up being quite interesting. I found the first few chapters really dragged. Once the reasons for the story became apparent I started to enjoy it. It also took a few chapters to remember who was who in the story. I loved how Frankie realized what is really important in life. Danielle once again reminds us of the importance of family in this story.
This one is still a good book but I didn't get into it as much as the others. I also got more annoyed by the typos (Charie's name going from Chari to Cheri, to Charie...drove me nuts!) And lots more grammatical errors in this one (cousin's instead of cousins...) The story is still cute, but not as fast-paced as the others.
I almost didn't buy this book because I thought it would not be as good as the first two books. After reading it I wish I would have purchased it on the first day it was available. It's a wonderful story and now I am ready for the next one in this series.
