Sweet Secrets is the third book in the Sweet Cove series by J.A. Whiting. These are short, sweet, cozy stories that are fast, fun, and enjoyable for a bit of light-hearted entertainment.

As always, we follow the three, close-knit sisters, each successfully developing their own trade, who are one-by-one discovering their own special abilities. These powers, and those of their special feline friends, help them solve crimes in their community.

This particular crime is based in the past and related to their own family history and inheritance. We also get to see the sisters’ individual romances develop in each story. These mysteries are light and a bit silly, but endearing all the same. And the real star of the show is the relationship the sisters share with one another.

Best of series so far

This is the third in the Sweet Cove series by J A Whiting. Things are moving along in Sweet Cove, Massachusetts. Angie is finally able to begin renovating the Victorian home she inherited from Professor Linden and is excited to have her bakery, Sweet Dreams back in business.
As demolition begins, Tom finds a locked box hidden in a wall. The box contains torn photos, and the sisters can't help but wonder who hid these pictures and why.
As the family digs into the history of the pictures they discover some hidden secrets regarding their Nana and her property on Robin's Point. Rumor has it that Nana had insisted that the property was hers and not owned by the town, but the evidence is missing and these secrets reveal some odd family connections. In the box with the torn photos is a family tree that shows Professor Linden and her father are related to the Roseland sisters. The professor's father John Turner is brother to Forsythia, the sisters great grandmother. Why did John Turner have fabricated documents made to take the land from his own sister? Angie, Jenna, Courtney and Ellie use their own powers to dig deep into the family secrets.
Tour guide Shirley Banks offers Angie some insight on the secrets, but is Shirley a friend or foe? What does historical society volunteer Paul Wilson have to do with it? Did his job as former town clerk have something to do with the missing land records?
Cats Euclid and Circe have a lot to say, or should I say "hiss" in this excellent series.
Grab your copy and join the family in celebrating the grand opening of Finch & Roseland Confectioners as Courtney and Mr. Finch become partners in this wonderful series.
Believe me, you won't want to put this book down!

This is the third in the series. (I still haven't read the first) I so enjoyed the second book in this cozy series that I just had to keep going and immediately bought this one for my Kindle and kept right on reading. They were fast reads and fit in for a hot Sunday afternoon/evening. Having no air conditioning here, I was looking for something light and easy to read to distract me from the heat and humidity. Both book 2 and this one fit that need quite nicely. As I wrote in my review of Book 2, this book was the perfect kind of cozy for me. Four sisters, who love each other and are discovering their "paranormal" gifts. (but not too heavy on the paranormal) Then there are two cats who help the sisters, budding romances, a New England shore town setting, mysteries to be explored. This book delves into more of why Professor Linden left the Victorian mansion to Angie and discoveries about the sisters' Nana and the land that may have actually been hers to own. There is a July 4th town celebration which really adds to the "cozy" aspect. The characters of each of the four sisters are well developed. They are different than each other but their love for each other is strong. I liked the fact that I could read both the second and third in the series in one day. (still have to get to the first)

The more I read in this series, the more I like the characters and can see them growing and changing as they've all settled into their new roles in their new town. It was so sweet by the end of the book that all the sisters seemed to have a boyfriend interest, and even their new friend Victor Finch found a little love connection with his real estate woman. I'm loving the new black cat Circe. She's just as intuitive as Euclid, and the cats get many chances to prove how helpful they can be.

This was a good mystery even though there was no murder (well, there were nearly several in the end, but thanks to a certain orange cat, the crisis was averted!), but there was an interesting investigation that involved all of the sisters, their lawyer and Victor Finch. I was glad to see that the reason was finally uncovered as to why Angie inherited the Victorian. A couple of other side mysteries were wrapped up too. This book was good about not mentioning the killer in the second book at all, but I'd still recommend reading in order to get the full effect of all the characters.

I enjoy this fun, light enjoyable series.

This is a good series for listening to when being active [I have these as audio books] as it keeps my attention and is good fun, but doesn't demand an heavy thinking so it is perfect.

The light paranormal aspect adds a nice twist, but again, not heavy or hard.

This really is a fun series, and I like it.

Another cute cozy

If you like cats, baking, candy making, or just eating, you will enjoy this. As usual, the sisters still get along better than most and have even adopted a father figure. Everyone , almost, has an admirer. Oh yes, the mystery --there is one!

Cute!
Some background in this series - “The Roseland sisters had recently discovered that they were descended from women with supernatural powers, but so far, only Angie and Courtney had the beginnings of special “gifts” starting to surface. The whole idea of paranormal powers frightened Ellie and she tried not to have anything to do with it. Even Mr. Finch had the ability to sometimes “feel” things from people.”

Angie Roseland is the sister who this series is using the viewpoint of. Toward the end of this book, Ellie showed a definite ability of her special paranormal powers when she and her sisters were face to face with a woman with a gun.

There are also two cats in these books that show their own abilities and knowledge. My thought is that they are the sisters relatives reincarnated. The orange Maine Coon cat is named Euclid and the black cat is named Circe. The sisters often “consult with” the cats.

Excerpt from the book - “Angie recently discovered that she had a special talent of being able to transfer feelings and intentions into her baked treats, which then affected the person who ate them. Angie made a mental note to always remember to be very careful when baking and to never let her thoughts wander when she was preparing her baked goods.”

This is an all around feel good series. There are 21 books in this series! The next one is the 4th and it’s called “Sweet Deceit”.

This series is still holding my interest - a lot! Each sister is starting to develop their own business - most of them will be run from the huge Victorian mansion Angie inherited from the recently deceased retired English professor. Ellie has started a B&B with 5 bedrooms on the second floor along with some common spaces on the first floor. Jenna has moved her mostly online handmade jewelry business from the city to a space on the first floor that can have an outside entrance for her shop. Angie is waiting for the estate to be probated and the house is in her name to start the renovations to re-open her successful coffee shop and cafe on the first floor. (This house is huge!) Some of the sisters are developing relationships. Some are discovering some paranormal senses. Looking forward to reading the next book.

Amazon synopsis:
Renovations begin on the Victorian mansion and lead to revelations about Professor Marion Linden and why she left the house to Angie in her will, while questions surface about the Robin's Point land. Who really owned
the land where Nana's cottage once stood? The Roseland sisters begin an investigation into misdeeds of the past, and with the help of their two fine felines, engage in a dangerous search for the truth.

Oh isn’t this sweet? I just love this series so much. Angie is so nice, and I like how her sisters have become such a big part as well. The moments when they are all together are so heartwarming, and make me want to be there as well.

The mystery in this book is not a murder, but I still had fun. The sisters are trying to figure out if their grandma was deceived over land, or even hurt because of that. The crime took place in the past, so the sisters have to look through photos, files, chat with older people and struggle to figure out the truth.

The addition of Mr. Finch to the cast is great, and slowly all sisters are pairing out, which is cliche but again, so much fun! The book is also quite short, and this is perfect for the story.

Love love love this and can’t wait for the next!

Good series

Enjoy the series. It was an easy read. Would have preferred Courtney as the main character - she's pretty awesome... Grabs life by the horns . the sister chosen doesn't seem all that special. But that is just me. She is consistent in character so it is not a reflection of the book as it is my preference in heroines

The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because things are sometimes skipped over. It can be a bit distracting.

Wasn't overly fond of the end. The villains shouldn't have been allowed to keep the profits from their illegal activity. It should have gone back to where it came from or donated - and I'm not referring to the city/land, I get that... But the actual individuals who profited so well.

I continue to love this series. With each book in the series you meet new people along the way. The four sisters in this book are looking into the history of their town because they are learning that someone or somebodies may have stolen the title from there Nana's home which may have contributed to her death. They are also learning more about why the Victorian house was left to them.

The writer, J. A. Whiting, knows how to pull a reader into the book and keep them there till the end. The characters are three-denominational and in each book their character grows and you get to know more about them.

I highly recommend this series to anyone who loves a good cozy.

I don't usually read paranormal books, but this was a freebie. There are 4 sisters who are slowly learning that they have "powers." The time is the present, but they are involved in past mysteries, too. The sisters have returned to the town where their grandmother lived and they spent wonderful summers. However, mysterious things start to happen, and they are led to wonder what really happened to their grandmother. It's a good cozy mystery, but is the 3rd in the series. I think it might be a good idea to read in order, but this was able to stand alone.

In this book we see the development of paranormal senses in the sisters.

This book is full of mystery and the sisters finally discover the facts about their Nana’s having to sell her land to the town years ago. There has always been a lack of facts as to why this occurred when Nana thought the land was owned by her mother. Angie discovers why the Professor really left both her house and some money to her.

Romance continues for the sisters and Mr. Finch becomes an honorary member of the family.

Candy store

Courtney and Victor make plans to open the candy store as partners. Tom starts the renovations to the house now that Angie has the deed and money. Tom finds a box in the wall. They find torn photos in the box. They put the pieces together, there's writing on the back of photos. One photo has four girls, one is their Nana, another is Professor Linden. They find the family tree, they are related to the Professor that's why she left the house to Angie. They continue to investigate Robin's Point ownership. Really good story and characters and interaction.

This is the third book in the series. It is a cozy mystery series, that has a little bit of paranormal activity thrown in. Mainly two cats that have a keen sense of awareness and some sisters that have powers passed on from generations of women. While it is a common theme throughout the books, the stories and characters themselves are quite interesting. This are quick, fun reads and you don't always guess the who-done-it right away.

I liked it. This was my first book in the series (although it is #3) so I am going back to read the first three. This is a good stand alone story or part of the series where you get to following these sisters through their challenges from a family mystery to a town history. I'm not sure I understand their "powers" though. It's more like intuition or ESP, with a couple of exceptions (one involving the cat). Gotta love the cats.

Cute

This is a sweet, clean mystery that is buried in the long-distant past. Angie and two of her sisters (Ellie is annoyingly timid) are trying to uncover what happened to their grandmother and her inheritance. The characters are mostly likeable, the very light paranormal aspect is appropriate, and the plot is fairly standard. I hate that while the mystery is solved there's no real justice for those affected...or is there?!

I have thoroughly enjoyed this series! This series has everything I enjoy….developing romances (no sex), developing Magickal “gifts” (not “stage magician” kinda magic…real Magick), 2 amazing cats, mysteries to solve, a gorgeous Victorian house, recipes!, and wonderful descriptions of surrounding scenery. Start with the first book so you get all the developing backstory. I already have the next one on my “to be read” bookshelf.

The sisters in Sweet Cove have another mystery after a box of torn snap shots is found in a wall during renovations. Who were these people? Why is there a photo of their Nana included? Whilst investigating the sisters discover other questions and all the answers lead to the sisters being in danger. Good read.

Delightful Series

I am enchanted with the Roseland sisters and the supporting cast of characters in these delightful cozy mysteries. I especially love the felines, Euclid and Circe. Their personalities help carry and add spice to the storyline. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.

This installment had more twists and turns than the previous 2 books in the series, which was nice. As a decades long mystery reader, it's nice when author's don't have to resort to dried out plot lines. Overall a good book, nice for a long trip or lazy weekend.

Nice story about a group of sisters who live in a small sea side town. Each sister is developing supernatural abilities. They work together to solve a mystery about who cheated their ancestor out of family land.
The characters were enjoyable and the town they live in is charming.
