Hey kids, do you like rabbits? Do you think they are soft and cuddly? There are all types of rabbits, different sizes, colors and coats, found all over the world. Author Emma Child will teach you all the facts, even funny bunny facts! Rabbits have big ears because their ears are very sensitive to sounds. Rabbits too often are hunted and eaten by many other animals so they have to race very fast to bushes, rocks, over the hill, or also to their homes called burrows under the ground. Well, you might call their homes apartments as they live in groups called colonies. They make underground tunnels to connect with other burrows. This author provides all the information you want to learn about rabbits with much humor along the way. She'll make you smile and you possibly might want to get a rabbit of your own. You'll have to ask your mom first to convince her you will take good care of one. You might find just the right rabbit at a local pet store or even a farm animal feed store. Proper cages can be obtained to provide a comfortable and safe home for your rabbit. Explore the wonders of the rabbit world in this factual guide book.
Another great book in the series by this author. As expected it's full of fun facts presented in an easy to understand language, plus, colour photos of these loveable creatures. As a fact example, did you know some rabbits have woollen coats instead of fur?
RABBITS: Fun Facts & Amazing Photos of Animals in Nature ~ Amazing Animal Kingdom ~ Book 17 is another excellent book about an animal that are common in most parts of the world that young children can enjoy as they learn about rabbits. It tells the differences between a rabbit and a hare, about families and wild rabbits compared to pet rabbits. This makes a great book for a school library or in the home and an advantage to learning about rabbits is that most of us live close to a place where we can see then either in the wild or as a pet to give young children a real experience to relate to the book.
Review: RABBITS by Emma Child [AMAZING ANIMAL KINGDOM BOOK 17]
Each entry in this extensive series is a gem. Packed with facts, anecdotes, and heartwarming photos, each book educates, both children and elders. For example, I learned what sound constitutes a rabbit's "purr" equivalent, and what its thumping signifies. I read and review the AMAZING ANIMAL KINGDOM series for my grandchildren, but I learn too.
Though I've come to expect learning new things about the subject animal in one of Emma Child's books, I was amazed at just how much I didn't know about rabbits. Quite a bit of new ideas for this old soul.
I gave it five stars because there was a wealth of information presented in a very fun, interesting way. As an adult, I was fully engaged the whole time reading. What made it especially appealing is that my granddaughter had bunnies at her birthday party. Some things I knew, but I also learned a lot. I have always loved watching animal shows and reading about them. This was good and enough not to be tedious.
Here is another fun educational book by Emma Child. My family has enjoyed learning about rabbits, hares, and other animals in the series. Nice variety of photos at the beginning of each chapter.
Every time this author writes another book, I learn some new stuff. I honestly didn't think there was anything I didn't know about rabbits. According to Ms. Child, half of the rabbits in the world live in North America and at least half of THOSE rabbits must live in my back yard, so I consider myself an experienced rabbit-watcher. Still, I got some surprises.
I knew rabbits can run fast ("Run like a rabbit" is a popular Southern expression) but 30-40 MPH? Wow! I always thought that "hare" is simply an old word for "rabbit" and was interested to learn that they are really two different animals and that some of the critters we call "rabbit" aren't rabbits at all, but hares. I had never heard of the Pygmy Rabbit and (if you asked me) would have guessed that it lived in Africa, not North America. And I knew that rabbits are more active at dawn and dusk (which is when predators learn to hunt them) but the word "crepuscular" is a new one. I always thought that meant having a lot of open sores!
If Ms. Child keeps writing this entertaining series, I might end up knowing as much as I think I do
Rabbits: Fun Facts & Amazing Photos of Animals in Nature is a beautiful book for young children with pictures and facts about friendly rabbits that is very well written.
