A messy, hopeful coming-of-age novel following a twenty-something in Brooklyn as she spirals through grief and a dangerously tangled relationship with her boss and his wife

Carson, twenty-five and reeling from her mother’s death, is coping the only way she knows with cheap wine and bars full of strangers. Her life is an endless cycle of evenings, blackout nights washing into hungover mornings—until she meets Jasper Stewart, a celebrated novelist who offers her a glimpse of the adult life she can’t quite figure out how to build for herself.

When Camille—an enviably self-possessed woman whose boys frequent the bookstore where Carson is underemployed—offers her a nannying job, Carson is pulled into a household that feels dangerously like home. It isn’t until after she’s already ensnared in their world that she realizes Camille is Jasper’s wife. As she is pulled closer to Jasper, what began as casual quickly evolves into a full-fledged affair, and Carson ricochets between loathing the enigmatic Camille and longing to be mothered by her. Add in a situationship with Arabelle, another nanny, and a growing dependence on alcohol, and Carson’s free fall through New York becomes impossible to ignore. As the lines between desire, grief, and self-destruction blur, Carson must decide whether she can pull herself out of the spiral . . . or let the chaos of her twenties swallow her whole.

An Endless Cycle of Evenings is at once a tender, funny, and ultimately redemptive love letter to Brooklyn and a compassionate salute to the beautiful disasters of early adulthood.

After a one night stand, Carson, a twenty something alcoholic takes a job as a nanny, not knowing the father of the family is the same man. Jasper is a wealthy, well known author and their infatuation eventually escalates to a full blown affair.

Honestly, I struggle how to rate this book because the writing itself was fantastic, but the overall plot just wasn’t for me. First of all, make no mistake, all three main characters (Carson, Jasper, and Jasper’s wife Camille) are horrible, HORRIBLE people. Seriously, when you finish this book, you’re going to sit in a daze thinking “what did I just read?”

Carson is an alcoholic who consistently drinks while watching two young children, Jasper is a narcissistic douchebag, and Camille is a vapid opportunist. So if you’re looking to read this expecting a romance, you will be very disappointed. There is a (sort of) twist at the end which slightly redeemed the plot, but then the epilogue kind of backtracked on that storyline, so I guess it was a wash.

Overall, if you’re in the mood to read a book where you can really enjoy absolutely hating every character and their continual trainwreck of cascading decisions, you will have fun reading this.

The only truly negative thing I have to say is the author’s constant need to list the ABV percentage of the drinks Carson was knocking back every time she went out to a bar (which was OFTEN). You don’t need to hold readers’ hands to convince us she’s an alcoholic, it was just weirdly annoying.

Such a relatable coming of age story of one woman’s experiences with relationships and flings as she navigates life. I enjoyed the ride and felt like I was right there going through everything with her. The affair was captivating and the blurred lines throughout the book gave it an edge and made it hard to put down. Loved all the characters. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This story is messy, but at times it felt like other messy coming of age stories I've read before. It did redeem itself a lot for me in the last 10% because I was not expecting that twist!

The cover does not lead you astray, there is a lot of drinking and hangovers...Which got a little boring after a while for me.

Overall, a good read.
