I love romantic fiction. Any kind of romantic fiction, whether it be historical, contemporary, fantasy, erotic - you name it. What's not to love about a swoon-worthy hero and a spunky heroine plagued by all sorts of conflicts keeping them apart, until it all works out and they live happily ever after? For the most part.

My first book, Closed Set, was published in June 2014. I am currently working on my second book. It definitely has a very swoon-worthy hero and an unforgettable heroine. Stay tuned for more info!

This was my first time reading Julia Harlow and I did like the premise for this story. Young, aspiring writer, Dorrie Applegate, is assigned to write the biography for Grant Maxwell, the hottest male model on the planet. These two meet and then ensues a turbulent relationship in a world with jealousy, obsession, heartbreak and intrigue.

The story is told in third person POV, which works well as we get glimpses into the minds of other characters as there are other side stories that intertwine with the MCs. I really enjoyed the heat and chemistry between Dorrie and Grant even though it was totally insta-love.

Where I struggled was that it wasn’t consistent. At times, it was more tell than show for some really poignant parts in the story.

Grant was sexy, hot and very likable. He was a very honest and genuine character that totally didn't fit the model persona. It was easy to see why Dorrie would fall for him (aside from the uber hotness!).

 photo TM_zpsyulnw1mn.jpg

I really liked Dorrie. She was an intelligent, straight shooter that let's no one walk over her. It’s because of these character traits that I had a really hard time with something Dorrie did when she was cornered. And also, Dorrie was smarter than what went down so again, I was a bit disappointed...

Without giving anything away, Dorrie is put in a nasty situation and makes a horrific decision that to me felt off for the character. Fortunately, I felt some vindication for my thoughts on Dorrie in the aftermath. We get to truly experience what her actions cost her as she plummets into despair, which was very realistic and not overdone.

This was where Ms. Harlow excelled in “showing” not “telling” what Dorrie’s actions cost her and for me, I was able to forgive Dorrie and also understand how Grant could too. There’s also a lot more going on the sidelines that I felt added to the story and kept me interested. There was some revenge and backstabbing, which I felt could have been heightened and added further intrigue and suspense had Ms. Harlow kept some or all of the details for reveal much later in the tale. What I mean is that we were privy to who was doing what and when as the story unfolded and IMO, (I like a litte angst)...

I would have felt MORE if I’d had to guess who it was or the “why” behind it.

Overall, I liked this tale. I would read another Julia Harlow novel. She has all the right ingredients for a fantastic story and something tells me that if she continues to hone her craft, her stories are going to get even sexier, more intriguing and more dynamic.

This is a standalone and I would recommend this book to those that like a romance with a hot sexy hero and strong, beautiful heroine who have obstacles to overcome.

Madness. Had to stop at 47% because this was just absurd.

Not only is there way too much going on... Too many different stories at once... You throw in a blackmailer who our h sleeps with right after the H leaves her room and had sex with.... Because of what?!?!?! Gah. Not even worth my energy to review or make sense right now.

The Talented Mr. Maxwell by Julia Harlow is an interesting story about a journalist and her client, a male model. While the pair don't seem as though they would be good together, they come to find out they may as well be soulmates.

Dorrie Applegate is from a small town in Kentucky and deems herself a solid full figured six. She was hired for chief writer at Omni Publishings Biography division. Barely making ends meet, her career depended on this interview with the hotshot male model Grant Maxwell. On a flight to London, Dorrie is seated next to a gorgeous, wonderful smelling man. Though she should be focusing on the interview she will be doing, she can't seem to with this distraction beside her.

To say that Grant Maxwell was hot would be an understatement, he's a male model, you can assume how fine of a specimen he was. At thirty-four years old he was becoming quite "ancient" in the modeling world. Since the moment he sat on the plane he couldn't take his eyes or keep his mind away from the pretty girl next to him.
Henry Charles is the name he gave her on the plane, as hard as it was to lie to her, he knows he needs to see more of her. His limited experience makes him even more drool worthy.

There were a lot of twists in this story that I truly appreciated and liked. The secondary characters made it interesting. I didn't see coming what had happened and was surprised that the author chose the path she did with the characters. Over all it was a good story. The characters were interesting and the story line (eventually) had me wanting more. I still do!

I found the story a bit hard to follow at times. It took me a paragraph or two to figure out who the author was speaking through as it changed without notice. I especially had a hard time when Carly was introduced as I was like um who is this and why? Then again I really just did not like her backstory either. Then the time jumped quite a few months ahead. I feel all of this confusion and such would have been taken care of by separating everything with headers, being able to follow and see who we are reading through is how I connect with a book and I had trouble doing so with this story until the end. Though overall I was pleased with the outcome and would be interested in more from Julia.

What the hell, Julia Harlow!

Did you check out my updates while reading? The Talented Mr. Maxwell is that kind of book. Trust me on this one. I read it over a week ago and still can’t seem to wrap my head around it.

Dorrie Applegate is assigned to write the biography of a very well-known male model, Grant Maxwell. While on a plane ride to London, Dorrie meets a strikingly handsome man named Henry. (How she doesn’t realize the man is Grant Maxwell, I’ll never know…) They have an enchanting evening out, complete with big O’s for everyone. When Dorrie finds out just who she spent the evening with, she’s pissed. I would be, too. She packs up her belongings and flies home to the good ol’ U.S. of A. But guess what? Grant has other ideas, and eventually Dorrie finds her way back into Grant’s presence.

During their time together, Dorrie and Grant develop a relationship of sorts. It’s complex and requires lots of secret sexy rendezvous. But someone has it out for them, specifically Grant, and eventually they’re torn apart.

<
My days are colorless and drab without you. You are the love of my life, my best friend, my soul mate.

Listen, this book is CRAZY. The situations these two characters find themselves in… God, I don’t even know what to say about them. You should know that there are triggers that may cause some readers to feel very uncomfortable. If you enjoy hot sex, manipulation, liars, blackmail, suspense, and angst (along with various other subjects) this may be a good match for you.

This third person read wasn’t AT ALL what I expected it to be. I really enjoyed Julia’s writing, and while I feel she could have used additional editing, it was well executed and kept me engaged and entertained. Again, this book isn’t for everyone. If you’re sensitive to certain controversial topics, I’d probably steer clear of this read.

ARC received for an honest review...

I enjoyed getting to know Dorrie and Grant. The story was not the typical line when you think it's boy meets girl, glitz and glam...

Dorrie was not a push over and didn't take crap from anyone. She didn't see herself as someone who people would fawn over but there was something special and different about her. She has to write Grant biography and sparks flew rapidly. It was a dirty sort of thing that turns sensual but it was different and classy,

Grant was a nice guy. He wasn't like most of the models and saw things a little different. You have to take into account that he's a the IT model and everyone wants him. He's popular and can have what and who he wants. I think there was a little growing up that needed to be done in some areas but the chemistry between the two was undeniable. The feelings he had for her were true. This was not a fast process but slow and I loved that.

They had things that they had to go through like most couples. Jealousy, trust and using common sense when dealing with feelings were things that needed work but the story was wonderful to read. I disliked Grant during some parts and I also questioned Dorrie in a lot of things and really disliked her in a few scenes. I just wanted to shake her and say open your eyes for once!!!

I loved the story and can't wait to read something else from Julia Harlow!! I have had the pleasure of reading another book and it was very well written as this was.

Get caught in the dramatic and intrigue story of Dorrie Applegate & Grant Maxwell.

The Talented Mr. Maxwell is a standalone from author Julia Harlow. This is my first book from this author, and I cannot wait to see what else this author can bring us with her other books, captivating and intriguing stories & characters.

This book did take me a little while to truly hook me. I was getting a little confused for a while when there was various different POV’s to read from. As much as I like reading books from POV’S having to many and not having a title of who’s POV it was really lost me at some points but eventually, when I thoroughly hooked, it was easier to catch up even made the story flow. I loved reading about different moments in time from the other characters POV as we also found out their feelings about the current situations going on.

This book had various themes throughout it from love, suspense and action and had a great deal of emotions from the characters that as the reader I could truly feel, such as; angst, jealousy, love, passion and heartache. I’ve laughed, smiled, been sad and most of all shocked and frustrated. This book had some great scene between these two main characters and I loved reading their interactions with each other. I love how they met, the time they spent together and how they seemed so real especially under the circumstances in which they were developing their relationship. These characters have an undeniable connection that was passionate, and heated inside and outside the bedroom.
This did also have some scenes in which I was shouting at the characters because I couldn’t believe that they would actually do it.

This book also faces some upsetting scenes such as depression, you can really feel Dorrie’s pain through these scenes. It may have been partly her fault but it also affected her in a way no one expected it too. Both characters make some big decisions especially after secrets are revealed about that fateful night that effect both Dorrie & Grant.

The suspenseful feel too this book I felt throughout, I kind of always expected something to happen, and that it was brewing under the surface, but when something did happen I was utterly shocked and knocked back. I never expected that outcome to happen.

Along with our two main characters there are many secondary characters that stand out in this book and added an extra layer of suspense and apprehension to the story and the characters’ lives and that’s Carly Ann. She added another level to this book and really stirred it up, but her story was just as captivating.

Dorrie has finally got a job in which she can finally be stable on if only she makes it happen. Dorrie is cheerful, strong, independent, carefree and loves what she does. One thing she never expected to happen was to meet an utterly gorgeous man, that would embark her on a love that would forever change her. But as things start getting in the way of her career she must make a decision that could ultimately make things even worse. After the events of that one night, you slowly see Dorrie on a downwards spiral, and the once happy, bubbly, beautiful women slowly become a shell of her previous self. But finally, confessions are made in order for her to start refocusing on life again. Slowly but surely with the support of Grant and her grandmother she finally comes back to herself again, and sets her sights higher than before with her career, and once again became the strong, bubbly caring women she was before. Especially when all is not settled with her and Grant.

I immediately fell in love with Grant’s character. The way he spoke, the gentleness and kindness he had towards Dorrie. He was so down to earth, humble and surprisingly not very confident with his looks which is kind of rare considering the line of works he is in. Throughout the book you can see the devotion and love he develops early on to Dorrie, so you can especially feel his pain and heartache at points through this book. One thing is for sure he can be your typical alpha male, protective, jealous and sometimes possessive, but with how he looks he just makes you swoon anyway. Grant can also be pretty stubborn and quite impulsive on a few occasions with Dorrie, in which could result in a lot of things being resolved more quickly, but ultimately Grant especially for the line of work he is in is kind, supportive, caring, loving and by all accounts gorgeous and sexy!

With all that these two characters face through this book, is only in the long run makes them stronger, and more able to fight things together. They never really give up on each other, and continue to always stick together through it all. These two were comfortable around each other, trusted each other, fell hard for one another and loved each other like crazy, they were most defiantly soul mates!

I’m so glad that these two characters get a HEA, and hope this isn’t the last we see of all these characters. This book was a brilliant story of love, second chances, passion and ups & downs but ultimately undeniable love!

The Talented Mr. Maxwell by Julia Harlow is erotica romance story that if full of love, drama and hot passion. This is my first story by this author but my favorite thing about her is her ability to develop characters that are true to life. Her attention to details in some of the situations is great too as I have never been to some of those places but she made me feel like I was there. You will the enjoy the connection that was created for these two characters. They will pull you into their world of angry, sadness, laughter and romance. This story will pull you in from the first word and you won't want to miss the twists and turns this story has. You will not want to miss out on what happens with these characters.

Dorrie Applegate has stumbled into a career changing opportunity. She has gotten a position with Omni Publishing company in New York. Her first assignment is to write a biography of a well known male model. When she meets a stranger on the plane, she doesn't realize how this will change things for her. When she realizes who he is, is it to late to do her job? Will she get more then a biography from him?

Grant Maxwell is at the height of his modeling career. He realizes that his career is almost finished with all the up coming young models coming behind him. His problem is that he has no idea what to do next with his life. When he meets her, he knows that he must be with her, have her. What will happen when she is assigned to write his biography? There are rules that stops him from having a relationship with her but are rules made to be broken in this case?

Dorrie and Grant's relationship is one that has been a strain from the beginning. They are attracted to each other and they both know what they want. What will happen when they decide that they want more from each other? Will someone get hurt? Are they willing to put it all on the line to be together? Together these two characters are strong and great together. They will leave you sitting on the edge of your seat one minute and the next needing ice water. She is a strong, independent, knows what she wants. He has a down to earth attitude with a touch of control. He is kind and loving towards her. They complement each other in different ways. The secondary characters also add to story to help it flow and hopefully we will get to see more from all of these characters soon. There are struggles throughout the story they face but with them you will also see how they grow and learn through them. Find out what happens to these characters as they start a journey of love, jealousy, anger and passion.

This is my first story by Julia Harlow and I know it won't be the last for me. I can't wait to pick up another on her books. Julia loves to read all different types of romances. What is not to love with a romance between handsome hero and a winsome heroine? This is a fast paced story that will keep you engaged until the end. I read this book in one sitting and had a hard time putting it down. You will need to see what happens with the twists and turns and certainly need to see the passion with these characters. I highly recommend this story as I know you will want to see what happens between these two characters.

The Talented Mr. Maxwell is a wonderful story by Julia Harlow. I wasn’t expecting to love it as much as I do. It definitely surprised me. I loved every word!
Dorrie Applegate is a twenty-six-year old writer who has just been hired by Omni Publishing as the new chief writer in their biography division. As her first major assignment, she is being sent to London to interview Grant Maxwell- the highest paid and most successful male model in the world. Getting him to do agree to do a biography is a huge coup for Omni Publishing and there is a lot riding on the success of the story. This is Dories big chance to make an impression, and this book could either make or break her career and it all depends entirely on how well she can capture his story.
Grant Maxwell is gorgeous, charming and at the height of a very successful career. The thirty four year old knows that his career has an expiration date and he doesn’t have all that much time before he will need to retire from modelling. Problem is, he has absolutely no idea of what to do after this part of his career ends.
When Dorrie and Grant meet there is an intense and electric charge which ignites between them, that neither of them is able to resist. But their initial introduction doesn’t go as well as Dorrie was hoping and it takes considerable effort to get everything back on track. As expected, Dorrie and Grant can’t keep their hands off each other and begin a torrid affair. Grants work takes him to exotic locations and Dorrie tags along so they can continue working on his biography. But all too soon a situation occurs that forces Dorrie into having to make an incredibly difficult decision, which will have devastating consequences for both of them. You really should read the story to find out what happens… it is a fantastic story and you are certain to love it as much as I do!

Ms. Harlow has a wonderfully detailed and beautifully descriptive style to her writing. She is able to paint vivid picture with her words that had me ‘seeing’ the story, instead of merely reading the words. As an example:
“The courtyard was nestled inbetwen white-stuccoed buildings topped with rounded terra-cotta-tiled roofs. Magenta bougainvillea drizzled down the walls like raspberry sherbert melting on a white linen suit….”
Reading this story was like stepping onto a rollercoaster that whizzed, zipped, dipped and rolled the whole way through the story. There wasn’t a moment where I wasn’t compelled to find out what was going to happen next. Ms. Harlow added quite a few unexpected and surprising twists that really amped up the intensity of the story. I wasn’t sure from one moment to the next of what would happen. My emotions got quite a battering…….AND I LOVED EVERY MOMENT!!!!
I am really looking forward to the next book from this talented author.

Thank you Ms. Harlow!

The Talented Mr. Maxwell
By: Julia Harlow
5 out of 5 stars

The story The Talented Mr. Maxwell by Julia Harlow is an erotica romance book. This is a wonderful story that will take you through so many twists and turns that you will wonder what could possibly happen next. That is just the kind of book I love, it kept me guessing. I loved the storyline and the characters are well developed. This is the story of Dorrie Applegate and Grant Maxwell. Dorrie has an amazing opportunity to write a biography for one of the most sought after male models, Grant Maxwell. She gets to know him very well and an unlikely love affair starts. Then one decision changes everything for them both. Now Dorrie has her story, Grant has a broken heart. Will this couple be able to mend their relationship or is their love gone forever?

Dorrie is so excited when she gets her chance at writing Grant’s biography. It means that she has a job and is able to support herself. Dorrie first presents herself as a person who plays things on the safe side. She starts to change and opens herself up to new opportunities. I was stunned at the situations that Dorrie went through both in her working and personal life. Then Dorrie has a choice to make. Whatever she decides there are consequences. Once the decision is made it can’t be taken back. It is a no-win situation and I felt Dorrie’s agony over having to make it.

Grant is a man that is used to getting his way and it shows in both his professional and personal life. He doesn’t give his lifestyle a second thought as he is so used to it. When he meets Dorrie he finds himself very attracted to her and sets out to make her his. Grant also is in a business that is competitive and he is insecure as to what he will do when he stops modeling. Dorrie helps him see the possibilities and he is happy with her. Then one night changes everything and leaves him broken-hearted.

It seems like everything is working against this couple. The flame of love quickly ignited and then seems to be extinguished just has quickly. Will this be the end of this couple’s relationship forever? Read this story to find out. This book does have adult language and adult situations. Grant and Dorrie’s love affair is very steamy. It would be for those 18 years of age or older.

The talented Mr Maxwell follows the story of Dorrie and Grant and the explosive relationship that occurs when two strong characters break the rules and has fiery chemistry to add to the mix.

Dorrie Applegate is a girl from a small town until one day she has a career changing job at a publishing company in New York. She is excited to receive her first assignment which is to write a biography of a famous male model. She is nervous regarding this meeting and as she packs her bags and boards the flight she is excited that she gets to fly first class. As she approaches her seat she trips and falls into the stunning guy in the seat next to her. Charles is only trying to get to his destination in one piece until this beautiful woman crashes into him and then ignores him, nobody ignores him he gets everything he wants apart from this woman. But as the flight goes on he slowly wears her down and invites her out.

So after a steamy night of passion with Charles she tries to be professional to meet the real purpose of the trip to interview Grant Maxwell, so Dorrie is surprised and shocked when in walks Charles but then realisation sets in and she feels the embarrassment as the guy she spent last night with is in fact Grant Maxwell the guy she has to write the biography on. The situation becomes complicated as there are rules and ethics which means a relationship would be out of the question but as the attraction between them becomes harder to resist they dive straight into a sexual relationship.

As the story goes on you feel the passion between these two characters and the sparks of sexual tension fly off the page. You get to delve into Grant’s mind and the insecurities which he has regarding his career and that its tough on the top, also that Dorrie is only trying to make a living. The both characters are strong and that the author uncovers the world of model as being cut throat and so competitive is a great to read and become immersed in, also there are some steamy scenes that I had to fan myself down from.

This is the first book I have read by this author and I will definitely read more in the future, I read this book in a day and could not put it down. I would recommend this to my friends to read as a summer holiday book.

The Talented Mr Maxwell is a standalone novel by Julia Harlow. Having read a book by this author before and really liking her writing style I was really looking forward to reading another book by her and I wasn’t disappointed. I enjoyed the story and the characters in it. There were some really great twists in the story that I never anticipated.
I really liked the main characters of Dorrie and Grant. They had great chemistry and whilst I don’t usually like cheating in a story I desperately wanted these two to be together and there is sometimes more to a situation than meets the eye! Throughout the story I loved Dorrie! She found herself in some pretty difficult situations and she had to make hard and fast decisions that you could tell totally and utterly destroyed her inside. I really admired her work ethic even if she did make a few wrong choices!
Grant - whilst I liked him for the most part I found myself frustrated with him at some points during the story but he won me over with his sexy sounding accent! He was drawn to Dorrie and I can’t blame him she was a genuinely nice person. Yes she made a mistake but it wasn’t coming from a malicious place, she was trying to do what she needed for herself and her Grandmother.
The chemistry between the two of these characters was undeniable. Their encounters were hot and steamy but they also had their sweet tender moments too. Grant definitely lived up to the knight in shining armour title a few times!
Whilst some of the secondary characters weren't particularly likeable they added a nice twist to the story and I liked that it wasn’t predictable.
One of the things I particularly enjoyed about this book was the authors beautiful descriptions of some of the places that Dorrie and Grant, especially Italy, I could totally imagine what I was reading. The book overall was written really well, had a great pace and flow to it. The characters developed well over the story and as mentioned earlier there were a few nice twists to the storyline.
I am definitely looking forward to reading more from this author in the future.

The Talented Mr. Maxwell by Julia Harlow is a romance story that is full of drama and sadness, passion and anger.

Dorrie Applegate enjoys her job at the Omni publishing company and now finds herself on a plane on the way to her first assignment. Her assignment entails a trip to London and a written biography on one well known, male model, Mr Grant Maxwell. However, the hot and sexy male who is sitting beside her has other ideas. He is trying to get to know the lovely young woman sitting next to him, he is smitten with her and wants to get to know her better. Will Dorrie realise who this stranger is? Will Dorrie find more than a story from this man?

Grant Maxwell is one sexy and in demand male model and one really nice guy. He was definitely aware that he was a little different from other models and the most noticeable one was his age. He knew that his age would change his career and that the younger ones on the rise would one day take over. Just what that change would be he did not know.

Dorrie and Grant have sparks flying when they can no longer keep their hands off each other. They are very attracted to each other and they both know what they want and that is each other. As they start to form a relationship they are confronted with jealousy and trust issues, in which I found both of them to be a little bit immature when it comes to relationships. Being as popular as he is everyone thinks he has had whoever he wants whenever he wants when it comes to women, but the truth about his relationships is not what it seems. Dorrie has never seen herself as the beauty that others saw. Due to this and her other qualities it only added to her allure and could stop men but it had been a while.

What will happen when they are forbidden fruit? What happens when someone gets hurt? Will they finally see they are meant to be together or will they walk away for good? Will Grant decide what his heart truly desires?

At times I really wanted to smack Grant and I really had to question some of his motives and judgements. Poor Dorrie I just wanted to shake her and make her take a good look at herself for once. The story will keep you engaged until the end with all the twists and turns and things you never saw coming.

Dorrie Applegate grew up in a small town in Kentucky, but found her dream job in New York, working on biographies for Omni Publishing. They were not any old biographies they were for the rich and famous and the hard to get hold of people. Flying to London to meet Grant Maxwell, the hottest male model out there, this was going to set her up for life, all she had to do was get through the flight next to this hunk of a man.

Grant Maxwell was at the height of his career, at thirty-four he was more sort after than the younger, fitter models, he might be old but he had what they want. Having no idea what to do when the shoots dried up, Grant was in turmoil about his life.

When Grant and Dorrie meet, sparks fly, but when hearts are broken people must make tough decisions. Will Grant loose the face? Will Dorrie finish the biography? Will we see the cut throat world of modelling?

Julia Harlow writes a beautiful book, with twist and turns throughout. The book flows and makes you want to carry on reading to find out what happens next. Both of her characters have substance about them. Dorrie is just trying to make it in life and can support herself whilst doing what she loves. Grant is to everyone else the man that has it all but deep inside he is a bit lost as to what to do next, and scared that he will have nothing as modelling is all he has known. I liked the chapters were shorter as you could steal one to two before you had to go out. The perspective of the book kept changing to different people thought-out which meant to might have to read the first line again to work out who you were reading now. I did enjoy this book immensely and look forward to reading more from this author. I rate this book a four star.

The Talented Mr. Maxwell by Julia Harlow – 3.5 stars (which is a 4 because I believe in the “round up” method”)

I read this book based on the blurb and as it’s the first book I’ve read by Julia Harlow, I’m not sure if all of her books are written the same, or if this one is unique. She is a talented writer who creates quite the story and I really, really tried to stick with this book with the level of enjoyment it began. This is the type of story that takes a left turn in the middle and never sets back to the course it started. This was probably Ms. Harlow’s plan all along as it was a well plotted story with developed characters and told a story with a beginning, middle and resolution. I’ve read similar books that just never resolved themselves.

Dorrie Applegate is a woman who is at the beginning of her career path. She is young and inexperienced yet has been given an incredible opportunity to prove herself. Grant Maxwell is at the end of his career as a male model. He has had amazing success and has quite the playboy reputation. While both Dorrie and Grant appear to be strong, independent people, both are plagued with self – doubt, body image issues (she’s a real woman, not model thin – yay) and make decisions that neither should make. I was really disappointed by both of them and had a hard time sympathizing with either.

It was an interesting view into the male modeling world and I find it sad that, once again, gender inequality rears its ugly head. It doesn’t matter if it is females or males who are being held down, it is wrong on all levels.

There are so many things to say about this story, it’s filled with drama and trickery but also romance and heartbreak. Dorrie Applegate is a writer and is on her way to London to write her first biography on the most famous male model, Grant Maxwell. Dorrie is down to earth and real, I love the fact that this story is based around a famous male model falling for an average woman, with curves and flaws. Their story does not start off to well at all. There are a few misunderstandings and miscommunication but in the end, it all works out.
I love that even though the story is about Grant, a famous male model, the author wrote him as shy, funny, and a loner but he fights for what he wants and is not afraid to use all his connections. Dorrie knows what she wants and will do anything to get it but sometimes what you want changes and you don’t know how to deal with it and that is what happens with Dorrie, she makes a bad decision but realizes her mistake even though it was after the fact. I loved the raw emotion and total realness of the story line. I pulled me in and wouldn’t let me go.
It is an edge of your seat dramatic romance that will pull at your heart. The characters were complex and full of a variety of emotion, the whole story line flowed well and I loved the twist and turns. I would recommend this book to any of my reader friends.

WOW!!! This book is so much more than 5 Stars. I love a book that starts out like this one did. I loved how she had no idea how HOT the man sitting next to her in the airplane is.
Dorrie Applegate is working for Omni Publishing in New York City and now she has an assignment that could make or break her career. Dorrie really wants to succeed and she wants to make sure this assignment is done right. Dorrie has no idea who she is sitting next to in the plane on her way to meet the very talented Grant Maxwell. She is busy getting ready for her interview so she can write the best biography she can of this model that people cannot seem to get enough of. Dorrie is sucked into his webs and she doesn’t know how powerful this man is.
Grant Maxwell is HOT, famous, and rich. He can have any woman he wants but he wants a woman that he knows nothing about. He wants to wine and dine her because he is drawn to her. But all it takes is one or maybe two people to change everything he had hoped for. Now Grant is not sure what happened but he still desires the woman of his dreams.
Truly an amazing story. I was just in awe of how amazing this story was. It is like a Cinderella story and I was wanting the girl to have her prince. I loved this story and it will be in my mind as one of the best stories I have read in a long time.

The Talented Mr. Maxwell is a story about an aging male model and the woman assigned to write his biography. This 3rd person point of view story is an awesome example of why good communication is key. Grant and Dorrie could have save a lot of time and heartache if they had just talked a little more.
Grant is a world famous model with spreads in almost every magazine imaginable. He feels his career slowly slipping away to the younger generation. He has no clue what he's going to do when modeling is over. Luckily for him the writer sent to write his biography gives him some amazing pointers. Too bad he falls for a mean trick played on him by one of his co-models and loses all trust for Dorrie.
Dorrie is crushed when Grant pushes her away for something that was out of her control. She still has to complete her assignment or she will be out of a job. Not too much time passes before she learns Grant is dating again. She tries to go one with her life but she's not finding any enjoyment in anything. When Grant has to come to New York for the release of his biography he realizes Dorrie isn't doing well at all. He hopes to repair some of the damage so he can at least get her back as a friend.
This book is amazing. I couldn't put it down. The emotions are all over the place. OH! And just wait til you read about Carly! That's a crazy twist.

The Talented Mr. Maxwell by Julia Harlow
Four Stars

The Talented Mr. Maxwell by Julia Harlow is the first book I have read by this author. This is an erotica romance full of twists and turns that left me wondering what would come next. This book has just about everything, mystery, suspense, action and of course a bunch of hot, smexy love scenes. My emotions while reading were all over the place. One moment I was happy and laughing, the next I was angry and disappointed and the next I was thinking what just happened. The character descriptions and interaction were brilliantly portrayed in the book. I love the way Ms. Harlow made me feel like I was in the places the characters lived. This book was written in various POV which gave you the different emotions being played out by multiple characters at the same time.

Dorrie Applegate just fell into her dream job, at Omni Publishing Company in New York City. Her first assignment is to write a biography on the top male models in the country, Grant Maxwell. When they unexpectedly fell into an affair, Dorrie had to make a decision that could crush Grant.

Grant Maxwell is a male model at the top of his career, but he realizes that he needs to look at his future. Being 34 years old and all the young guns looking to take over the top modeling positions, Grant is trying to figure out what to do with his life.

When Grant and Dorrie meet, the attraction is instantaneous, but will they be able to overcome all of the obstacles put in their path? This romance takes you on a roller coaster of a ride. Ms. Harlow has written a great summertime read. I can't wait to read some of her other books.

The Talented Mr. Maxwell by Julia Harlow was one of those books I had a tough time putting down and luckily, I got a chance to read quite a bit since I am getting over a bug. There were times when I wanted to shake Dorrie to try and get her to see reason and I felt like there could have been a little more of a story between Carly and Dorrie. I felt like their relationship was rushed. There was just the right amount of drama, mystery, and intimacy. Overall this was a great story.

Dorrie Applegate is heading to London on an assignment to write a biography for one of the most popular male models, Grant Maxwell for the Celebrities Today series for Omni Publishing. She is trying to concentrate on her current subject, a pop star but she can’t seem to focus on the beautiful, delicious smelling man sitting next to her with the British accent.

Grant Maxwell is getting up there in age for a model at least, at thirty-four he is considered an old man and the younger models are chomping at the bit to replace him. He is thinking about the next phase of his life but hasn’t found that special someone. After one incredible night with a beautiful woman he must meet the writer doing his biography. Little does he know how much this biography is going to change everything.

The Talented Mr. Maxwell by Julia Harlow

I would give "The Talented Mr. Maxwell" by Julia Harlow 4 stars. The story follows Dorrie Applegate, a new writer with an assignment of doing a biography of a well-known handsome male model, Grant Maxwell. Grant is very successful, but due to the fickleness of the modeling industry, he is possibly getting closer to the end of his modeling career due his age having him in his 30’s. Grant, going by his middle name for more anonymity, and Dorrie cross each other's paths and share a passionate night together, all without making the connection of who each other were. The sparks between them were complicated when Dorrie was faced with realizing who exactly Grant was and knowing her employer's morals clause meant her job and her feelings for Grant were not going to mesh well. The cutthroat competition between the new younger models causes a stir and puts everything that's important to Dorrie and Grant at risk. Dorrie’s choices about what she values most are put to the test and through them lives are turned upside down.

This is the second book I've read by this author and I appreciate her having the main female characters in her books having curvy realistic body’s. I loved the passion, misunderstandings, and jealousy in the story. The author was very descriptive and I could totally picture the places where they visited and even the food they ate, but at times it almost seemed that the author tried too hard and almost overdoing the details. I did try to remind myself that the descriptions were coming from Dorrie, a writer herself. As in the last book I read by this author, she spent a good deal of time making prestigious brands and locales match up to Grant Maxwell’s model lifestyle. The addition of the obsessed person from the past added suspense and a little turmoil that I also remember from my last experience with this author. I read it in one sitting and enjoyed how things fell into place for the characters.

The Talented Mr. Maxwell- Julia Harlow

5 Stars Review

The Talented Mr. Maxwell by Julia Harlow is a fabulous book with an original storyline; it’s definitely a 5 star book. It is told with so much detail, from the scenery, the food, the feelings, etc. This book managed to surprise me at every turn; it was nothing like I was expecting it to be and that was a pleasant surprise.

Dorrie Applegate is a writer for Omni Publishing and has been tasked with writing the biography of Grant Maxwell, a job that would really help her career take off. Omni’s code of conduct is quite simple; there shall be no personal relations with the clients. But it’s much harder to follow then Dorrie originally thought. When Grant and Dorrie meet their attraction to one another is palpable. They try to keep their relationship professional but find it hard as they spend all their time together. After holding off for as long as possible they finally give in to their needs and desires and it ends up being everything they dreamed it would be. They get to know each other more personally as they work on the biography. But they have many obstacles in the way of their relationship and they must decide what their priorities are, will Dorrie continue to jeopardize her career for love or will the fear of starting over stop her from pursuing the relationship further?

This is a story of love, heartbreak, and second chances. Halfway throughout the story new characters are introduced and while normally I’m not a fan of that I really appreciated it here. These characters really added more to the storyline and gave the story the perfect amount of drama. I enjoyed that all of the characters stories were followed through to the end so there was no need to guess at what happened. I’ve never read a book quite like this one so it was definitely a nice change. I look forward to reading more of Julia’s work and would highly recommend this book to others.

The Talented Mr. Maxwell by Julia Harlow is a standalone, contemporary romance story about Dorrie Applegate and Grant Maxwell. The characters are relatable and have an instant connection once they meet and throughout the story. They will pull you into their world of angry, sadness, laughter and romance.

Dorrie Applegate has been hired by Omni Publishing in New York. She if to London on her first assignment, to write a biography of a famous male model. While on the flight, she is seated in first class next to a gorgeous man, who says his name is Henry Charles. Needing to study up on her next assignment, she indulges on a night out with Henry when they arrive in London. The next morning, she has her interview for her bio assignment on Grant Maxwell, until she is surprised by who he is.

Grant Maxwell is an infamous male model, who is getting to the age where is aging out. He is in his 30’s and there are many young models in the 20’s that are ready to take over. He is at a point in his life that he has no idea what to do next until he meets her (Dorrie). It is an instant attraction which he can’t fight and knows that he must be with her, whatever it takes. Does he know that Dorrie is the person assigned to write is biography?

This is my first story by Julia Harlow and I enjoyed her ability to develop characters that are relatable and true to life. The detail of the foreign places Grant and Dorrie travelled to made you feel like you were there. The story had me engaged from the moment Dorrie was on the flight and met Henry Charles or was it Grant? I look forward to reading for stories by Julia Harlow.

The Talented Mr. Maxwell is an awesome romance that will consume you until the last page. Dorrie is a young, aspiring writer who is tasked with writing a biography on Grant Maxwell. Grant is considered the HOTTEST male model in the world. This should be easy for her but it’s not. They are both thrust into a world where there’s jealousy, extreme obsession, and heartbreak but can they overcome all these obstacles to find their HEA?

I loved how Grant is different from other stories that are told about HOT male models. Normally, they’re full of themselves and have a personality that I struggle to like throughout the book. Grant was different. He was genuine which completely surprised me. Dorrie was also a likable character. She was strong with a “don’t take crap from anyone” attitude which I love. I am one that loves a strong female lead which surprises me on how she handled some situations that were thrown at her. She’s portrayed as a strong woman but handles things terribly. It was almost misleading.

Overall it was a good story. Questionable things were done and bad decisions were made but it’s a great lesson in forgiveness and that love conquers all. I can’t wait to read more books by Julia Harlow. It seriously was the perfect summer read!

The Talented Mr. Maxwell by Julia Harlow

5 Stars

I sincerely loved this story, even though at times I was so angry I wanted to throw my kindle as far as I could. That to me just means this author did her job as far as writing an amazing book with some terrific twists and turns that had me from word one.

I really liked Dorrie in this story. She was determined yet always unsure of herself and that mix made her a very likeable character. She just wanted to be successful and had finally received an opportunity to do just that. She received an assignment to do a biography on one of the most famous male models in the world Grant Maxwell.

Grant was pretty sure he was at the far end of his career as a male model. Being 34, although not old by any means, has him older than most of his competition in the business. His career coming to a close doesn't bother him as much as not having any idea what he will do next.

While flying to London to meet the evasive Mr. Maxwell, Dorrie finds herself totally captivated by her seatmate in first class. After an embarrassing encounter with him she takes him up on an offer of a ride to her hotel then a drink later that evening. The next morning as she rushes to prepare to meet the male model something unexpected happens which could jeopardize her career. As Grant and Dorrie find themselves in a heated affair something happens that causes Dorrie to make a decision that shatters both of their hearts and tears them apart. What happens when as time moves forward and the biography is finally complete and they see each other again for the first time? Can these two find a way to forgive each other, or will the outside forces that are in play keep them apart forever?

I loved all of the secondary character stories going on in this book and how they related back to the main story. I also loved that the story flow was quick moving and you weren't left wondering about things for half the book. I highly recommend this book..I loved it!!

The Talented Mr. Maxwell written by Julia Harlow
4 stars

The Talented Mr. Maxwell really gives you the insight of looking further than the surface and not judging others. From the outside looking in some people look like they have it all. Once peeling back the layers and getting to know someone you may realize it's just a facade and what they want others to believe. You don't always see someone's authentic self or why they are the way they are without really taking the time to get to know them and what makes them tick. Jealousy, secrets, insecurities and fear can make people do something outside of their normal character. Some things are forgivable and others are inexcusable. Will Dorrie’s mistake be forgivable or the inexcusable?

“I want substance on the inside as well as on the outside of a woman.”

I was disappointed in Dorrie at one point. For being such a strong, independent, moral driven lady she made a decision that was so against what I expected. I could understand her dilemma and what she was trying to protect, but I wish she would have stood her ground and not given into the easy out. We are all faced with decisions when backed in a corner...it's so much easier to look back and see that at a particular moment it appeared that there was no other option...there's always another other option. That one decision changed everything for Dorrie. Not only didn't it protect her...it changed her and everything she was working towards and hoping for.

“Sorry. I wanted to make it longer than that. Give me ten minutes and I promise I’ll do better.” Dorrie giggled. “You sent me to the moon. What more can a girl ask for?”

Will she be able to recover from her mistake? Has she lost respect from others, her career and Grant? Will she ever feel the trust and passion again that they shared? Will she recover from the downward spiral she sent herself into? Will she ever get to fly to the moon with Grant again?

A LOVE STORY MUST READ!!
Dorrie Applegate has found her dream job, she comes from a small town in Kentucky. Omni Publishing in New York City. Her first assignment is to write a biography about the hottest male model in the world. Dorrie is very nervous about her big chance with the publishing firm and she knows this is a make or break situation for her career. She takes a deep breadth and gets on the plane for her new adventure.
Grant Maxwell has the body all male models dream of and want to look like. His features are strong and he is well defined muscles are picture perfect. Grant has a lot of younger models on his heels wanting what he has. Grant didn't start at the top but worked to get there and it will be hard when his career is over, because he doesn't know where he will go from here. He doesn't like to talk about his past so writing this biography is going to be very hard for him. Until he sees who is writing it. Now Dorrie and Grant are magnetically drawn to each other and have a tumultuous affair. That isn't their only problems when Dorrie is forced into the worse decision she has ever made it shatters Grant. Can Grant save Dorrie and their relationship or is it too late? What role will Dorrie's cousin play in the relationship?
This is a stand-alone written by Julia Harlow and she has become a favorite author for me. I really enjoyed this story and Ms. Harlow's writing flows smoothly and kept me interested for the beginning and held me until the end.

The Talented Mr. Maxwell, by Julia Harlow, is the first book I have read by this author. The Talented Mr. Maxwell is classified as Romantic Erotica. This was an involved story of two individuals who despite everything tossed their way are given signs that maybe they are meant to be more to one another if they can overcome their differences.

Julia Harlow is a talented author in her delivery in The Talented Mr. Maxwell. She has created complicated characters who each many layers to them. This story is shared from different POV allowing the reader to get additional insight into the developing story. I did find, that at times, I struggled to continue the story. It is not that the story is not well written, just at times it was too much and I became distracted in my reading.

This is a fully involved story that is filled with heavy depth and dynamic. There is passionate love begging to come in the story and the author brings it full speed and with solid discovery. Julia Harlow takes you on a ride filled to the brim with twists, turns, bumps and hills that make a gripping read if you can delve into the story without abandon. Just when you think you know what is coming around the corner, the author will throw a curve ball right into that train of thought. Overall, a solidly written story that I enjoyed. I look forward to seeing how this author grows with future books.

Dorrie first assignment at omni publishing is to write a biography of a very well known model Grant Maxwell. While travelling on a plane to London she meets a jaw dropping unbelievably good looking man his name is Henry, they have a incredible evening together but the problem is Dorrie doesn't realize the person she's spending the evening with is no other than Grant Maxwell. When Dorrie finds out who she spent the evening with shes incredibly angry but wouldn't you be, she's that furious she packs up all her belongings and leave to head back home but she can't get away that easy Grant will not let her slip away that's easily so Dorrie may run but she can't hide and will see Mr maxwell again. There relationship isn't simple it's complex and with someone making it hard for them it may just tear them apart. If it does will they end up together again? Wow I really enjoyed this novel it had me hooked from start to finish. It was filled with so many emotions love, passion, anger, jealousy it really keeps you on your toes and ropes you in very enjoyable. The chemistry between the two main characters is scorching hot you can see the sparks flying between them but there so many obstacles standing in there way of happiness. This story touch some sensitive subjects like depression and I think it was written beautifully you could really feel Dorrie pain even though she may be to blame for some of the reason she feel like this but she wasn't expecting it to effect her like this. I really do highly recommend this novel it was awesome. Happy reading!!
