Reformed assassin Cristan Rojas just wants to raise his daughter in peace. But after twelve years on the run, he learns that even the quiet little town of Westbury, Pennsylvania, has many hidden dangers. Although he can’t shake the feeling he’s under surveillance, Cristan’s attraction to Sarah Mitchell continues to grow, as do his concerns that his secret past could jeopardize anyone who gets too close to him.
Sarah is ready to start her life over with her children, a new job, and a budding romance. Her newfound happiness is threatened when her ex-husband becomes increasingly violent—and she soon learns her ex isn’t the only person stalking her.
Cristan fears someone from his past has arrived in town, someone far worse than a jealous ex. Someone who may be responsible for a brutal—and unsolved—murder a dozen years ago. To protect Sarah and his daughter, he must shine a light into the darkest recesses of his nightmarish past.

She Can Kill was beautifully done. I enjoyed it so very much and it kept my attention the whole way through. I really liked the plot in each book in this series and the characters were all pretty fantastic. Easy to like and to have a connection with. I recommend this series :)
Christopher Navarro is an Argentinian who is a hit man of sorts. Working for his father-in-law, who is an arms dealer, he has become a changed man since the birth of his daughter, Luciana. He's been making plans to take his wife, Eva, and Luciana out of the country away from the violence and her family. But Eva does not want to leave.
Christopher and Luciana arrive at the ranch for a meeting with the Vargas family, only to find the entire family, including his wife, have been slaughtered. Taking his daughter, he runs.
Twelve years later, going by the names of Cristan and Lucia Rojas, they find themselves in a small town in Pennsylvania. All these years, Cristan and his daughter have moved from place to place to place, never staying long.... praying they would not be found.
He was a witness to the killing in Argentina, and he knows that one woman was responsible .... his wife had killed her son in cold blood. Aline was out there and still hunting.
Cristan meets a woman he is attracted to .. a single mom with two little girls. And a vicious ex-husband who is bent on making Sarah's life miserable. He is still demanding, still controlling and still has the ability to beat her senseless.
Someone is targeting Cristan and Sarah. Following them. Taking pictures. Is it the ex-husband? Aline who is still out for blood? Is it time for Cristan and Lucia to run again?
The book is terrific! The author does a great job in painting pictures with words. The anger and sorrow at Cristan's wife's death. The running from place to place trying to keep his daughter safe. Afraid to trust anyone with the truth. Afraid to love again.
There is lots of action ... and the farther into the book, the more the tension and excitement takes over. And just when you think you know what's going on, the author throws a curve ball at the reader. Things are not always what they seem.
Highly recommended with 5 stars.
My appreciation and thanks to the author, Amazon Publishing / Montlake Romance / NetGalley who furnished a digital copy in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
This was a fast story to read! lot going on gangster murders a single father moves to a small town with his teenage daughter, she babysits for a newly divorced woman that has a domestic violent stalker ex, so that's a problem but someone is after him and the kid too. Kept me entertained!
Now I can say I read this entire series. I’m not sure what it says about me, but I am glad I didn’t quit. While none of the stories in the series were Ms. Leigh’s best work, they filled the gap between other reads just fine. They were all safe and the romance didn’t make me want to scream in anger. High standards, I know.
This story had a well paced romance, unlike the other stories in this series. The MCs don’t fall into insta lust with each other and that in itself was refreshing. I do like that this H, like the others in the previous books, was not a manho. He’s been celibate for so long he couldn’t remember the last time he’s been intimate with a woman.
However, the drama in this one was just too OTT. Too many people want to kill the MCs and it was just an overload of baddies. I’m glad I finished the series, but it wasn’t my favourite or Melinda Leigh’s.
Readers first meet Sarah in She Can Tell, the second book in Melinda Leigh’s She Can series. Even with that many books between She Can Kill still easily works as a stand-alone. I was happy to see that not only does Sarah get a happily ever after but he comes in the form of a tall dark and handsome knight in shiny Mercedes. Sarah deserves it. She is still contending with an abusive husband even though he is an ex at this point. She’s struggling to build a life focused on her girls and centered on her independence. Having a crush on her babysitters father happens to be a small piece of normalcy in her new life.
Lie low, don’t draw attention to oneself, and live a lawfully honorable life. This is Cristan’s everyday. He’s trying to hide his past. He only wants for his daughter to have the best life possible. He knows there is blood on his hands that he can never wash off. He knows that since he left his life behind twelve years ago that he has made a completely different life for his child. He just feels it is not enough. He knows it is not enough when things that appear to be a coincidence to most hit too close to home for him. The moment he knows that his past has come to kill his present his instincts tell him to go on the offensive, but the good father in him has him looking out for the daughter that started the changes in him to begin with.
This is the She Can book where evil, eviler, and evilest all vie for the attention of the readers while plotting sinisterly nefarious things on the main characters. I enjoyed Cristan and Sarah. I LOVED the evil doers and just how far they would go in their schemes even more. Some of the motives were clear. Some of the whys didn’t make too much sense. It all made for a suspenseful read.
In what's become a traditional signature from Melinda Leigh, the first chapter in her latest She Can Kill wham boom bams you and your hooked for the rest of the book.
Little departure from the typical hero in this one. Cristan Rojas and his daughter have been in the previous books but he was always a bit of a mystery and elusive about his past. Argentinian hit man would not have been what I thought the Latin hottie was hiding about his past. He is now a man who just wants to live in peace and raise his daughter away from his Mafia roots but sometimes the past doesnt let you get away.
Sarah Mitchell is also someone we met in a previous book. She was the abused sister that Rachel got away from her husband. After finally getting the courage to leave for herself and her two small kids she is now divorced from him but like Cristan the past or more specifically her ex does not want to let her go.
At the start of the book Cristan and Sarah are only connected by his daughter Lucia who babysits Sarah's kids but before long the two are thrown into a nightmare when both their pasts end up intersecting.
One of the things I've come to really love about this series is all the previous characters/couples play a big part in each book. Westbury, Pennsylvania may be a small town but it sure has its fair share of trouble and characters always have each others backs during those times.
Talk about your nasty spouses, this one is full of them! I felt for Sarah, she finally left her abusive ex and just wants to live her life with her girls, yet her ex won't get on with his life and let her get on with hers. I don't feel one bit bad for what happened to him and am glad that finally by the end of the book Sarah and her girls will have some peace going forward in their lives.
I'm a bit on the fence with Cristan. I do think his daughter changed him and when he had the chance he took it so that they could have a better life. I hate how his past has come back and Cristan isn't sure who the threat is. I was surprised to see who and why and also to learn what really happened in the past. I think this person made the right choice when they walked away from Cristan and his daughter. Not sure if they made the right choice when the bad guy walked away from the other person in their life.
I liked that Cristan and Sarah are building something together. They make a cute family with all the girls.

I enjoyed this romantic suspense with a powerful beginning and lots of bad guys. I liked that both hero and heroine were dedicated parents. It was a bit heavy on evil intentions and light on romance but still a good book in the series. Cristan's tries to have a low profile lifestyle and his daughter is babysitter for Sarah's children.
I really enjoyed this one. I’m hoping she continues the series. So much can happen to all of these people. I really liked the twist of the plot and it had me surprised in the end. Who would have thought it. Hmm...
4.5 stars. I’ve reached the end of the series and WOW did it go out with a bang! It was great to read about these characters that we’d already seen and knew a lot about from other novels. Still, masses of action here. I was on the edge of my seat reading about Christian’s escape from Argentine. Melinda is still not afraid to knock her heroines about a bit and I love how they don’t always just get meekly rescued but find a bit of spunk in them and give back. I think I’ll be reading everything ML writes.
Man this could have been good. I wanted to write no insta love. But in the final minutes of the story even after the heroine agreed to a HFN, it’s ruined by a declaration of love unnecessary to the story. The happy for now was enough given the timeframe of the story. Ugh. The narrator did a great job. Could have been a 4 star read, but I have to take a half off for the ending. And so annoyed, I’m rounding down.
These books are always easy reads. They aren’t super clever but fun to read. I hate the inevitable sex scene and have started skipping that chapter because it’s always awkward. This one was a bit less suspenseful than others in the series.
This completes the series and finalized the characters of this small community. The plots were complex and entertaining but also sometimes predictable.
She can kill by Melinda Leigh is a mystery and thriller and romance read. Reformed assassin Cristan Rojas just wants to raise his daughter in peace. This was a really enjoyable read with great characters. Such a rollercoaster of a read. Highly recommended. 5*. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book from netgalley.

She Can Kill is the sixth and latest release in Melinda Leigh's fantastic She Can series. I loved all the previous books and couldn't put this one down either. I actually had to add the audio book version so I could continue with the story when I didn't have time to sit down to read. She Can Kill is Cristan's and Sarah's story, who first appeared in book 2 She Can Tell, but each book works fine as a stand alone, as the plot focuses on one particular couple. Cristan has been trying to escape his violent past ever since his wife and her arms dealing family were killed twelve years ago and he escaped with their young daughter. His daughter is babysitting for Sarah who has also fled from violence in the form of her abusive ex-husband Troy who is still creating all sorts of problems for her. The suspense really builds up when Cristan's past catches up with him and Sarah's ex-husband turns more than a little unstable. I love how the characters from the previous books, especially Mike and Sean, are included in the plot and this great family-and-friends-in-a-small-town atmosphere is created. As the tension was building up towards the final confrontation, I never would have predicted the twists Melinda Leigh threw in. Very well written and highly recommended for any romantic suspense readers. I sincerely hope there will be more of this series in the future. I received an ARC via Netgalley in exchanged for an honest review.
She Can Kill brings back to Characters from She Can Tell Sarah Parker and Cristan Rojas. We finally get to find about the mysterious Cristan Rojas and boy he was worth the wait. Sarah and Cristan have so many problems the reader can only wonder how they will find any peace in their lives. Melinda Leigh's She Can Series has created a list of characters who are not only name of pages but so life like that you feel you have grown with them from book 1 to book 5.
Sarah has left her abusive Ex-Husband and is trying to get her life back so she can make a better life for her two little girls. When Cristan Rojas tries to protect Sarah from her Ex- Husband she finds herself falling for the mysterious man. Cristan is also a very interesting past of as a hitman for a drug cartel family. I love that when his daughter was born his heart changed and he could no longer kill. As Sarahs Ex comes unhinged Cristan's past comes to find him being an explosive novel of romance, pain, adventure and enough twist and turns to keeping the readers hooked until the last word on the page.
Melinda Leigh writes the perfect blend of suspense, and romance that will keep readers wanting more.
I was given an ARC of She Can Kill from NetGalley for an honest review and this is my review. This was another excellent addition to Melinda Leigh's She Can series which seems to get better with each new book. This book focused around Sarah who had to deal with her crazy ex husband who was not ready to let her go and Cristan who was on the run from his past. So the book had a bit of double angst going on, but the true mystery was who was trying to kill Cristan. This book was definitely filled with a lot of action. I also was pleased with being unsure of who was really behind the threats towards Cristan and his daughter until the end of the book. I also want to give props to the author for revealing everything that took place twelve years ago that led to them going after Cristan and his daughter and not leaving any unanswered questions at the end of the book about anything. I am not sharinging for spoilers but that was nice to know all. The match between Sarah and Cristan was also nice. It moved a bit slow but that were a nice pairing for this book. It was also nice to see a marriage of Rachel and Mike from the last book. I am giving this book five out of five stars.
Cristan Rojas has been on the run for 12 years. He is a reformed assassin but all he wants to do is live a quiet life with his daughter. He has been in Westbury, Pa for too long. His daughter has friends and it would be hard to uproot her. Some very deadly people would like to find them and Cristan suspects they may have found him. Sarah Mitchell is trying to raise her 2 young daughters after a nasty divorce from her abusive ex husband. Cristan and Sarah become friend and are attracted to each other. Sarah's ex doesn't like this and becomes increasingly violent and unstable. Sarah also becomes a target of the people after Cristan because of her connection to him. To protect his daughter and Sarah, Cristan must look to his past and risk everything. Does he go it alone or can he trust the local law to help. I loved the characters and their interactions. As usual Melinda does an excellent job keeping you guessing on the suspense. An excellent romantic suspense novel you can't go wrong on.
Cristan Rojas has been hiding out in the small town of Westbury, PA with his young daughter. They have been on the run for 12 years after his wife and family (arms dealers in Argentina) were slaughter and he narrowly escaped. Once an assassin, but now a doting father, he is always on the lookout for possible threats. This story starts fast and never lets up. The author has developed not only interested characters but complex characters. Subplots add to the dimension of this superb suspense. Developing romance and family dynamics add to the drama. There are twists and turns that I didn't see coming and the conclusion was certainly a surprise.
I received this book as an ARC through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Melinda has done another excellent job of making you bond with her characters in her "She Can.." series of books. There are plenty of twists and turns that will keep you guessing though without leaving you confused. I had a hard time putting this book down.
