Quick comment after reading: 2.5 stars. The original title of the book is Slasher-Murder At the Ruined Garden- (it's a rough translation), so I think you can tell what kind of story it is.

What would you expect from a book named 'Slasher'?

Well...masked serial killer.

A bunch of people get killed one by one in a remote location.

Everyone dies, leaving just one or two survivors...for the sequel.

That's it.

But I'm happy to see the author paid tribute to Dario Argento at the beginning of this book, and Argento's horror movies are mentioned for a few times in the story.

Instead of supernatural, or folklore, horror, Mitsuda instead writes a slasher in book form. Some of the murders are quite gory, but it's entertaining, and I liked the ending reveal of who the murderer is, and more importantly, why.
