Perfect Notes by Jaye Peaches

Callie is all he desires—the tonic for his dominance. But to fulfill their dreams, she must succumb to his passions.

Amateur clarinetist Callie turns up for an orchestra rehearsal following a six-week absence to find a new conductor in residence—Stefan, a charismatic man with ambitions of being a composer. After he gives her a lift home, he invites her to his house for a practice session. What begins as a music lesson ends with a passionate display of dominance by Stefan.

As their sexual affair blossoms, Callie is increasingly drawn to find out more about her aspiring composer and why he is a potent lover in the bedroom. When she turns up unexpectedly at his house, she is shocked to find him in the company of a naked woman. Horrified to think that he might have betrayed her, she calls an end to their relationship, but persistent Stefan begs for a second chance.

Encouraged by her boss to resolve her feelings toward Stefan, Callie seeks out a friend of his, hoping to understand what drives him to dominate, but the given explanation creates more unresolved issues for Callie. Determined to seek out the truth, she plans to confront Stefan. But by then, he has gone abroad. Callie must make a decision—cash in her savings and follow Stefan, or banish him from her life. If she does the latter, she will never understand the nature of the intense emotions he has awakened within her. Does she dare to love him?

Hot and heavy doesn’t even begin to describe the chemistry between Callie and Stefan. It’s apparent from the beginning that these two weren’t going to be able to keep their hands off each other.

Stefan is a dominate male and Callie is finding out that she is somewhat of a submissive. This story is really about Stefan and Callie coming to terms with this “type” of relationship.

I liked this, but I have a couple of issues with it. Surprise, surprise, right? Anyway, I had a hard time getting in to Stefan’s character. The reasoning behind “why” he is the way he is just didn’t mesh with me. Although I will contradict myself and say that it was nice that nothing “tragic/traumatic” happened to him. The entire first half of the story, the flow is slow. But it seems like the last two chapters were written in a hurry to “end” the story. Eh

Ok, now the good stuff. I LOVED reading about the musical aspect in this. The author did a wonderful job incorporating and bridging the musical and sexual tension between the two. In fact, I felt as though those were some of the best scenes. Speaking of scenes, yep, they’re in there and plentiful. Stefan definitely knows what he’s doing and Callie is just along for the ride…and loving it.

All in all, I would say that this was an enjoyable read and I recommend it to those looking to boost their libido.

After a rather awkward start, Stefan offers Callie an additional music lesson. This ends in Callie and Stefan having hot sex, and Callie doesn’t know what to make out of the situation. She is not in the clear about her feelings about Stefan at all. Nevertheless, the two of them come closer, and this means that there are some marvelous sex scenes, as both are very playful and cannot get enough of each other. Callie and Stefan are fun characters to read about. It took me a while to see beyond the mind blowing sex they have, but the two of them do have their own personalities and weaknesses, and the sex scenes are actually rather important for the plot.

I found Callie a little fickle at times. Callie wants harmony, love, a perfect relationship. That’s nice, who doesn’t. However while reading, I was in for a surprise, because of Callie’s way of thinking. She is definitely not boring, might act on impulse, is insecure and I’d say sometimes maybe gullible, at other times stubborn. She meets Stefan, versatile and dominant in the bedroom, but since his ability to express his feelings is not always the best, Callie and Stefan end up having problems. Well, ok, maybe another reason could be the naked woman that Callie saw kneeling in front of Stefan. What follows is a mix of sex, love and doubts. I am not going to give away the plot here, as that would spoil the fun, instead I recommend you buy the book.

I enjoyed reading about the professional background of the two main characters as musicians. It is so wonderfully fitting and woven into the plot that it is fun to read, whether it is the atmosphere and hustle and bustle of an orchestra rehearsal or simple practice of an instrument. Jaye Peaches included the musical background of Callie and Stefan very well.
The story is told from Callie’s point of view. Because of this I felt right in the plot, which I enjoyed. Towards the end of the story, seeing everything from Callie’s point of view was not always as easy for me. It is because Callie has her own issues, and she is just as bad at expressing them, as Stefan is when it comes to talking about his feelings. Stefan is dominant in bed, very much so, and Callie enjoys this in him. But she has her own head and this is the main reason why dominance and submission are restricted to sex. Outside the bedroom Callie and Stefan try to create a relationship as two equals.

What makes Perfect Notes a great read is that it is not clear whether there will be a happy ending or not. There are some twists and turns that make both possible, almost till the end of the story. Another reason is Callie. I enjoyed her sometimes quirky train of thoughts. Her own issues are revealed bit by bit, and this adds a lot to the plot. So, if you are looking for a good story with hot sex and an exciting plot, read Perfect Notes.

I just finished reading this and loved it! I thoroughly enjoyed the authors writing style and descriptivenes. I enjoyed the backdrop of music and was able to follow the musical references with very limited knowledge. The music added a further dimension to the story.

The author did a wonderful job of weaving the musical theme through the story and blending music and intimacy which leads to some very hot scenes to titillate the reader.

I think the character development was fantastic. The reader was able to get a sense of the main characters and what makes them tick with the author providing great back stories and history. Of course each of the main characters bring their history, experiences and fears to the relationship.

Although there are plenty of hot sex scenes, the story goes far deeper. Can Callie come to terms with Stefan's dominance and can he give her what she needs. I thoroughly enjoyed following their story and would love to read more. I highly recommend this book.

I'm not finishing it, enough!
He's like a music conductor version of Christian Grey. She - Callie is in 'his' orchestra playing clarinetist. The characters are so plain, so boring. No chemistry, very little story which is almost told in the summary, and above all, the protagonist is one half german so he always calls her "Mausi" (little mouse). That's such a turn down and it's also too erotic with too less story or romance in it. Now they go together to a hairstylist :/. I don't want to waste my time on this book anymore, maybe it could be a 2 point stars book, but at the moment 1 lame point.
