A college student in her small town in Connecticut, Taylor loves everything having to do with literature. She is an avid reader, a blogger, a writer- obviously, and a reviewer. Her favorite genres are fantasy, paranormal, young adult, and romance.
I was very lucky when I received an ARC from the author Taylor Lavati in exchange for an honest opinion. The book that I am speaking of is her recently published one- “ THE LAST LEGACY” This is Mismousey’s very honest opinion of her most amazing and magnificent ZOMBIE book ever. Now I have never been one to read books about zombies. But must say – after reading this one, I intend to add them my reading list. Mismousey has always been one to try reading all books with an open mind. And I am very happy that I do. Now that being said. Let me tell you how I feel about the authors writing skill. Ms. Lavati’s has such a creative mind and skill and she is able to show the reader exactly what is happening to the point that you believe you are right there. You believe – you are there with them and it is happening to you. You find yourself running from the zombies and hiding for your life. Once she has picked up her pen and taken it to paper you are able to see her creative juices flow unto the paper. Her work and storytelling – in my opinion is like Stephen King. She is just that great with this thriller of “THE LAST LEGACY” Ms Lavati is also the author of the Curse series, Wingless, Reliant Love. If you have not read any of her books. I suggest you do. She is an amazing and very talented –gifted writer. Now let’s get on with a tidbit of “THE LAST Legacy” The Last Legacy is about a young women by the name of Lana- she has no family. Her neighbor next door has a noisy little Chihuahua she calls snippy. Now on her way home from work this creepy ole man asked her if she had heard what they had been saying on the news. That they were going to war. As she got off the bus and started walking to her house- she felt the ground move. It was like an earthquake had hit. Once Lana had made it into her house – she turned on her tv set. There was the news lady yelling and warning everyone to stay indoors. Bombs are being dropped across America containing lethal toxins. We are just getting word of.. then everything went blank on the screen. No reception- no anything. Lana jumped up locked all her doors and windows. She barracked herself – placed towels in the cracks where she could. Lana sneaks outside feels the ground rumble and hides. But men find out and want to know why she is outside. She should be inside- they tell her go inside and hide not to come out and if she see anyone with red eye’s to kill’em. She runs indoors and locks herself in There she hides until a group of men find her. One particular by the name of Jim. He actually finds her first before the rest of the guys. And tells her to do what he says. He is trying to protect her without telling her and letting on to the guys. If they knew they would kill them both. Now – we have Lana and Jim together. They try to get away from the group. The group has plans for Lana – as they only want to take turns with her. Finally Jim gets them away- as they are running an, hiding trying to save themselves. They pick up strays along the way. Will they be able to make it to safety?? Will the zombies get them?? What happens to Jim and Lana? In order to find the answers to these questions and others. You will need to read this FANTASTIC-TERRIFIC-THRILLER-OMG IS IT A HOT READ OF THE YEAR!! It captures your attention from the very first page. Keeps you spellbound all the way through it. You will not be able to put this book down till have finished reading it. Then you find yourself wanting more of the story. I recommend this book for all readers. Mismousey gives this book a very firm and I do mean a very firm rating of 60 out 5 stars. NOW DON’T WALK BUT RUN AND GET YOUR COPY TODAY!! YOU HAVE TO READ THIS HOTTIE!! THIS IS A MUST FOR YOUR KINDLE AND FOR YOUR LIBRARY. NOW GO AND GET IT NOW!!!!
This book is so freaking amazing!!! I loved the movie Zombieland but this book takes the cake. I was sucked into this book from the very beginning. If you are a lover of end of the world zombieness then you will want this book. You will not regret it!!!
Ms. Lavati puts us inside the mind of one lonely girl struggling to survive in a world gone mad. The writing is so precise, we see the the unbelievable horror she sees, feel the unbearable fear, smell the blood and decomposing bodies, hear the sounds of unimaginable threats. Written in only her viewpoint, we feel the powerful emotions Lana experiences. We feel the panic, the terror, the sense of hopelessness and helplessness. If you love an outstanding thriller, then this one will keep you on pins and needles and take your breath away.
~~~~~~~~~~Lillian's ★★★★ Review~~~~~~~~~~
The world has gone mad, bombs were dropped and people either died or became infected. The infected are Eaters and there are so many of the them. Lana has been hiding in her house and never goes out as she hasn't seen or heard anything outside her house. But that is all about to change, a group of men break into her house and take her. There is one man Jim he promises to keep her safe.
Jim has been looking at leaving the group of survivors as all they do is kill & rape. He get Lana and himself out but not before eaters break in and destroy the place. They are on the run and they need to keep safe and get food. They know nothing about each other but they work together the best that they can. Jim shows Lana how to kill the eaters as they will not stop unless you stop them. She isn't happy about it but what choice does she have.
As time goes by they start finding other survivors and they need a plan as where are they going but things start going off the rails, one of their friends turns into a eater after been bitten and they have to kill him. Others are killed on the way but they do find others. They have all put their trust into Jim as he is their leader but he had been playing a game all this time.
They need to get away from Jim and his loony friends before they become victims. They are able to find a small boat and they just get away from the eaters. What was Jim up to, was he playing them all this time?
What happens next can't wait as it just ended and there are hundreds of questions in my head. The beginning started a bit slow but once Jim & his friends came in the story just took off. I loved that the book wasn't just about eaters and that we got to see other characters and what their part is going to be in the future. Big shock when Jim turned traitor or did he? I enjoyed the story as it was believable and would make a great movie as we all love zombies right? I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.
Well, here's my obligatory 5-star rating of my own book. Yippee!
I want to start by saying how different this book is from ALL of my others. I completely stepped out of my comfort zone and took a risk publishing this. This is another instance where an idea shoved its way to the front of my head and forced itself onto virtual paper. But I'm so glad it did.
The story is, at its essence, character-driven. What makes it so enthralling is the large cast of unique characters that each have their own stories begging to be told. I try to make each one redeemable, although I can already hear the pitchforks over Scarlet's whiny nature!
I find the fall of mankind interesting and throwing random people into a situation when there's no government, no rules, no order was sort of like a social experiment. If person A hates B, what happens when technically murder is allowed. There's a psychological element to the story, too. It possesses so much that it crosses genres and typical boundaries.
I don't want to categorize this as a "zombie novel". Not that zombie novels are a bad thing, but I think this captures many different genres and those who say "I don't really like zombie anymore" will still love it, because while there are zombie-like creatures called eaters, they're more of a setting element than a driver of the entire story. I use the eaters to move the story, set the scene of what kind of world this place is, but they don't control my story. And I love that. The characters interact all WHILE this massive apocalyptic-situation takes place.
It's awesome! (In my humble opinion ;) )
Anyway, I'll shut up now. But I urge you to try the book, give it a chance (even if you hate zombies), and let the characters make you fall in love with them.
I was given an ARC book for an honest review free of persuasion from the author or anyone else affiliated with this book.
CONTAINS SOME SPOILERS - Recommended for readers over 18 due to mature content.
This book was wow. It definitely grabbed my attention from page 1! I couldn't stop reading as the pages turned! I was very sad to see the end of the book. "No, that can't be all of it!!!" I can not wait for the next book in this series.
Lana lives alone and is working as an administrative assistant. She is a loner and prefers it that way. Growing up in foster care, she has learned to trust and depend on no one but herself for survival. That is until the world comes to an end. Bombs are dropped all across the country. Those that survived were classed into two groups; humans and eaters. The toxic fumes from the bombs reanimated dead bodies. All these eaters want to do is eat the humans. The humans must band together to survive. Lana refused to leave her home, locking herself in. She was doing ok until a group of humans broke into her home, looted her possessions and kidnapped her. The group of men had intended on raping her until Jim saved her. Lana and Jim went on the run. Their main goal was to head south and survive. Along the way other humans joined their traveling group. What obstacles did they come across? Were they able to survive?
I highly recommend this book. The plot and characters in this book were highly developed and the story line believable. I look forward to the next book in this series as well as other books by Taylor!
Taylor Lavati is one of my new favorite authors because all her books are very well written and have a very good storyline. They are so different but that is a strong thing. This book is just as amazing as the other books I have read by her and this is also one of the best zombi books out on the market. I use the word zombi even if it is not used in the book. I love zombi stories but most of them is kind of the same and boring and sure this book as a bit of the same things, a small group of humans trying to survive. The big difference is that this book has a storyline and you can see the story moving forward and the characters moving forwarrd to. it never gets boring to read this book even if you have read and watch a lot of zombi related books/movies/series.
I really really really want season two and I wish I just could read it now. This book has laughted, love, friendship and horror in it. It feels so real and when I read this during the night and my boyfriend made some strange noices I jumped and woke him up to check his eye. When you get that reaction to a book, the book is awesome (even if I wasnt the most popular girlfriend when reading it)
if you havent read this book yet, shame on you. this is one of the best book ever and this is a book I know so many people will just love. Read the book, you will not be disapointed.
I Was given an ARC by the Author in Exchange of Honest Review.
I have read For the Love Of Ash by Taylor Lavati and I thought it was her best book she has written but I Realized that Whatever Taylor writes is Mindblowing, Powerful and her writing grips you and hold you from beginning to end. I Enjoyed reading The Last Legacy. It's different from what I read but amazing. I couldn't get enough of reading it and want Next Season so badly to know what more things are going to happen.
Lana's life as Human being is Over. She is surrounded by Deadly Diseases, fear of death. It's like She has entered into new world where there is only Destruction but She refuses to lose. She is determined to get out of the Situation,
I Would Recommend everyone to Buy every book that Taylor has written. She is one of the Best Author I have known and her writing is fantastic. Amazing Read.
I received and ARC in exchange for an honest review. Attack on the US and Lana has to fight to survive. While people change to Zombie like creatures which are known as the eaters. She has to avoid being attacked or she will change. You can't trust anyone and you have to fight to stay alive. Jim "saves" Lana and together they are trying to fight to survive. A very interesting read. Parts of it made the book drag out. I felt some of it could have been shortened. Cause after awhile I felt like is this book going to end soon. I found it a good story line and I did like the characters. I will read more from this author.
Gritty...dark and compelling. If you want a realistic version of zombie apocolypse this is for you. I don't think these people bathed at all...ever. Humanity at it's worst..the devil is everywhere in these pages and despite it all I loved it, perhaps more for the dirt and smog. It's primitive...the most basic essence of ourselves is shown. Girls..that means you find the biggest, baddest Mother and follow him. We get serious growth in this story with both the female and male lead. In just a few weeks huge changes are made...or are they. Fast paced and full of suspense and violence it kept me up all night reading. It ends on a cliffhanger but damn...what a book.
When I got the book I didn't know what to expect, when I started reading it I was into it and enjoyed it. When I got to the part where the zombies came in I thought oh great reason being I have a fear of zombies but, this was the best book I read and to be honest I could not put it down. The more you read it the more you need to know what happens. I did get upset with the book but I believe everyone should be reading this book you will be missing out on a great story if you don't. Can't wait for the next one to find out what happens 5 stars.
Lana is a young woman who lives alone and has always been alone and that is just the way she likes it. Lana doesn’t trust anyone or anything. She depends on one person and one person only and that is herself. Growing up in foster care and never having anyone or a reason to trust has left her with no friends or family.
Lana was home alone when the bombs started falling. At first she thought it was earthquakes until she turned on the tv and saw the news. Whatever was in the bombs was turning people into zombies or eaters as they called them.
Lana with not knowing anyone or nowhere to go decided to stay in her home alone until looters came into her home and took her away. She was lucky in that the first person to see her was Jim and not his brother John. John wanted to take Lana for himself and use her and then kill her like all the other women they had taken since the world had ended. But Jim knowing this got to her first and told her to do as he says if she wanted to live.
Jim knew that he couldn’t protect Lana while they were with his brother and I think he wanted out for a while or maybe never wanted to be a part of what his brother was doing from the beginning so he took Lana and they left and were on the run from not only the eaters but John and his gang as well. They met up with a few more people while they were running from the eaters; some I really liked and some not so much. Some of the characters I kept wishing that the eaters would get them.
Lana thinks that she is not strong and has lived her whole life letting people run over her and not standing up for herself. But she is trying real hard now to change all that and not let people run over her or use her. But Lana has a very big and strong heart that really and truly cares about people and wants to see everybody happy and safe. Lana is trying to take on everybody’s safety and wellbeing. Lana thinks she is weak but she is the strongest person in their little group. She has become their leader and she was the one kidnapped.
She takes on the role of mother to a little boy who needs loving when his mom and dad both decide to check out when things start getting too tough for them. Both of his parents only think about them themselves and not their own children and what they will be doing to them and their little hearts.
I have really loved reading The Last Legacy and can’t wait for the next season. I can’t wait to see if Lana and her little group will make it. What about Lana and Jim will they be an item? I loved all the characters or well most of them anyway. But if it were not for the characters you love to hate then you probably wouldn’t have a great book. I would love to see The Last Legacy on the big screen. I think Taylor Lavati is right there in league with Robert Kirkman and one day The Last Legacy will be at the top with The Walking Dead. Taylor Lavati is going places as they say.
If you have not read The Last Legacy and you love shows like The Walking Dead then you are going to love The Last Legacy. Pick up your copy today!
Anyone picking up this book should be forewarned that it is going to be extremely hard to put down! This book held me from start to finish: the plot is completely engaging, full of excitement, suspense, and lots of unexpected (but completely believable!) twists and turns. I’ve read a lot of Taylor Lavati’s work, and I think her books just keep getting better and better. This one kept me up late at night, and by the time I neared the conclusion, I was reading as fast as I could because I couldn’t wait to see how the story turned out.
Life as Lana knows it is over. The United States has been attacked with a biological weapon that turns humans into creatures known as eaters: semi-living beings with little cognitive ability and only one desire—eating human flesh. The government has collapsed, and anyone like Lana who escapes infection is on her own. Lana and the other survivors she teams up with must forge a life for themselves in this new world: a life that means always being on the move, scavenging for increasingly-scarce food, and constantly fighting off the ever-lurking eaters. Perhaps even worse than the eaters are the bands of non-infected men who roam the countryside, half-mad in the new world, men whose main interests are to pillage, rape, and kill. Despite it all, Lana refuses to lose hope in humanity and even believes in finding a second chance at love, but as things unravel and tragedy strikes, she begins to fear that her optimism may have been only a dream.
This book has got it all: a high stakes plot, terrifying creatures, a world on the brink of collapse, compelling characters pushed to their physical and emotional limits, and even romance. The incredibly well-developed cast of characters was one of my favorite parts of this book: Lavati puts so much thought into creating unique and dynamic characters that even the minor characters feel completely real on the page. It reminds me a bit of a Stephen King novel (think The Stand or The Dome) in the sense that these incredibly diverse characters are all forced together when disaster strikes, a scenario that makes for some incredibly compelling fiction. Lana, especially, is an incredibly well-developed protagonist: she struggles with the emotional journey of letting go of a past filled with abuse and being passed around as a foster child, even as she battles the eaters. On top of this, Lavati is such a skilled writer that the plot moves seamlessly, and the prose is filled with tons of wonderful imagery that bring this new world to life for readers.
I think this book has got something for everyone. Even readers who don’t normally read in this genre will enjoy this book, as Lavati blends elements of many genres (science fiction, romance, coming-of-age, post-apocalyptic) to create something fresh and new. A must read!
What a different story this has been.It was fantastic,I loved the story.I couldn't believe what happened at the end,I did not see that coming. I haven't read many apocalyptic books but this has been one of my favorite,five stars
5/5 Stars **I received an ARC from author in exchange for an honest review.** The Last Legacy held me from start to finish. I first read it before it was edited and absolutely loved it. This isn't like any of the other books Taylor Lavati has published. Her books keep getting better and better.
Lana was kidnapped by a group of men who were clearing houses for food. One man stands out and helps her, Jim. He's got a past that he doesn't want to talk about and Lana is bound and determined to learn more about him and what life was like before the bombs destroyed the world. The begin to fall for each other, but the world isn't easy anymore. As more survivors are found, Jim and Lana fight to protect the group.
This book had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. It was a definite page turner. When ever there was a new update to the first edition, I would be the first to read it and comment on it. This book has it all: a wonderful plot, mesmerizing plot twists, compelling characters, and terrifying creatures. It's a world full of unexpected twists and turns.
*Recommended for readers over 18. Mature content that may be offensive to sensitive readers. Language, sexual situations, violence.
**i received an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review** Good job Taylor, you knocked this one out of the park? Alright, so I've read a few of Taylor's books and I've enjoyed all of them, but so far this is my favorite. This book starts with a bang and it doesn't slow down ever. The suspense is real & the plot twists? Yeah, you NEVER know what's going to happen next. The characters are mysterious & complex, each with their own story. You can never judge one just by what they appear, because I promise that they are deeper than you think. There is a tiny smidge of romance, but when running & fighting for your life you can't really expect flowers & chocolates. My favorite thing about this book is that the main character, Lana, had a bad life but she's still such a good, kind person. She has a conscious & feels guilty about killing the zombies. She wants to help everyone and save the world. She believes in the good in everyone & wants to believe that the world will go back to normal. She's just a really good main character. The plot twists in this book are insane, but I totally loved it! I work so I couldn't devour it, but I got close:) Get this book! You will totally love it & just be happy.
I have to admit that I had no idea what I was about to read when I received this book. I've read the author's other works, but just from the blurb alone I knew it would be different. I think that's what makes a great author, diversity, uniqueness and the ability to write anything. And this young author has it!
This is my favorite book of hers solely based on the amazing world she created. I could picture the zombies, or infected, and see their disgusting bodies and everything.
The emotions I felt while reading were all over the place. At times I was grossed out. Other times I smiled and was happy. I definitely was rooting for Lana through the entire thing. She's someone who isn't necessarily weak but you still want her to gain strength. If that makes sense. I was definitely angry at times, and at times I almost wanted to throw the book. (Thanksfully I have a paperback so no harm done.)
Anyway, I was pleastantly surprised by this book since it's not a genre I read much. I just REALLY REALLY want to the second season already so I can dive in. Really awesome no matter what your favorite genre is.
I cannot begin to tell how much I really like author Taylor Lavati and her great stories. "The Last Legacy" is a fantastic story of a woman named Lana who is left in a world of terror and horror. Lana is one of few survivors who with Jim are trying to survive in this new world. She only has a knife, her quick thinking, and a backpack to help her. This book is full of action and suspense. This is Season One Episodes 1-10. I cannot wait to read the rest of this story I am sitting at the edge of my seat. I cannot wait to see what is going to happen to Lana and Jim! Anyone who reads about the end of the world, or people turning into creatures will love this book! Once I started reading it I was unable to stop. I give this book a 5/5. I was given this book for the purpose of a review and all opinions are my own. -
Wow, what an awesome book! I don’t even know where to start! First of all, everything that I have read by this author has been great! This book was intense in a very good way.
I was hooked from the very beginning all the way through. This author knows how to write and get her readers attention. This is a story of survival with a new adversity around every corner. You will be following the story of Jim and Lana almost as if you were right there with them. At least that’s how it was for me.
I loved this book and I give it 5***** all the way around. I can’t wait to see what this author has for us next. Oh and I highly recommend this book to lovers of this genre. Even if you’re not into zombies, end of the world type books I think you will be hooked just like I was.
Well what can I say I was hooked from the start. It took me a day to read this book I loved every minute of it.
This is my first book by Taylor Lavati and what a brilliant book to be introduced to.
The Last Legacy "what do you do when the world is at war and there is people outside who want to eat you" !HIDE! that's what Lana does, for eight days she holds herself in her house, until she is kidnapped! This story is quite action packed it gets your heart beating with the suspense. There is laughter, sadness and a bit of romance.
I seriously can't wait for book two I wanted to scream when I finished The Last Legacy.
If you love walking dead then you will definitely enjoy reading this book.
I never thought I would read a "zombie book", much less love one. The Last Legacy really surprised me. Even with the whole people-eating-people thing, it was a fantastic book.
After biological weapons are dropped in North America, Lana finds herself alone in a world gone mad. Alone she can handle. She grew up in foster care and never had anyone she could trust. But the chemicals from the biological weapons have turned many of the population into eaters. They roam the countryside eating any humans they come across. Add to that a band of savage humans who pillage homes and rape women, and Lana can't handle anymore. When Jim protects her from the rapists, she isn't sure whether to cling to him or run from him.
Five stars is just not enough stars to hand out to this author for her amazing job writing this book. What an epic read! I'm a sucker for a good post apocalyptic read and The Last Legacy nailed it! This author managed to combine death,destruction, sci-fy, and anticipation with equal parts of love, emotion, strength, and survival. I loved the pace of this book-never a dull moment. Yet, when it was over I was already wanting part two! If you love post apocalyptic, sci-fy do not pass up this book!
I love jumping out of my comfort zone and reading different genres of books. The Last Legacy gave me a surprisingly different read that I really enjoyed.
In The Last Legacy, there is continuous action, with definitely no slow-paced movement or dragging scenes. The characters develop based on their situations, which allows readers to see their progression as the story unfolds.
If you're looking for a post-apocolyptic/zombie/action/destruction type novel, then this is a great choice for you. I cannot wait for the possibility of more to come!
The Last Legacy is not the type of book I normally read. With that said, I really enjoyed it and found myself thinking oh my gosh what if this were to really happen, or even some version of it. It really starts to make your mind think. Taylor's writing is so good that you feel like you are right there with Lana, Jim, Scarlet and Gabe. Her writing was so descriptive that I could picture them and the eaters as well as the buildings or what was left of them in my mind. If you're even considering reading The Last Legacy, I encourage you to do so.
I received an ARC in exchange for a honest review.
I don't think I have ever read a book like this before. It has everything you need and left me wanting more. I cannot wait for the next episode! It captured me from the very beginning and I couldn't put it down. The pace of the story was perfect, full of twists and turns and suspense. If you like anything post-apocalyptic, sci-fi or zombies you will love this.
Taylor Lavati's "The Last Legacy" is the first tale in the Last Legacy series. If you like "The Walking Dead," you'll love this! It's a very detailed depiction of a zombie apocalypse. The zombie descriptions are amazing. There are romance elements weaved into the storyline, but I wouldn't say it's mainly a romance. There are a couple steamy scenes though! I want to know what happens to Lana next - can't wait for #2!
This book holds so much suspense. There's also drama, emotions, and... zombies! Yes, zombies. But there's mystery, intrigue, life lessons. It's so much more than just a "scary zombie story" & I loved it! I breezed through it in no time & am now impatiently awaiting book two in the series. Taylor Lavati has proven to be a wonderful writer & has made her way onto my list of favorite authors pretty quickly.
Not much for romance, but it had zombies and I like zombies. I admire anyone who has the ability to write a book. The story flowed well but I'm kind of ambivalent about Lana. Started out kind of whiney, but she kind of redeemed herself somewhat. Thanks for the enjoyment...
