He worked at the development company Tri-Ace on games like Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria and Star Ocean: The Last Hope between 2006 and 2008 as a character designer, until he changed careers and became a mangaka and an illustrator for light novels.
Another solid volume. This time we get to learn the process of releasing a game and the pressure it takes.
I really enjoy all the gaming stuff. Learning how it is made, the various steps, and the release seems scary if not exciting. I also really am liking the cast, great chemistry, and some cute moments. When they all had to do the exams I did laugh a few times. The ending with them having a new leader can bring interesting future results.
When I first gave this series a try a few years back, I wasn’t charmed by it — but now as I go forward with it I find it really cute and satisfying, especially the cast of characters. What does that say about me, I wonder?
The second volume of the New Game! manga series! Like the first and third (which I read the first) it made me giggle and laugh out loud several times. The characters are so lovable!
The team is finalizing the game from the first volume. Things are moving fast. The characters all support each other, it's adorable.
Kou and Rin are so gay. They remember events in the past about the two of them and continuously surprise and support each other. They're my favourite couple but I love all the characters and the dynamics between them. By the second volume, they have all interacted with almost every character.
The art is nice and the colours when available are amazing. I look forward to more.
Better than vol. 1, but that may be because rather than introducing a fairly large cast and going nowhere with them this one actually had some movement in the story. It was fun to see the team get their product out the door and have a release.
It's light, it's fun, it's cute (possibly too much so). New Game! is worth a look if you want something a bit different.
My library only had the first two volumes (in english!), but I will say the second novel wraps things up in such a way that a reader could stop reading after volume 2. I love when books in a series are written this way. So much respect for the creator!
This is easily one of my favorite comedy and slice of life manga i'm reading. The girls are adorable and all have nice personalities. It is written in the 4koma style and is consistently entertaining. It's just girls working together at their game making job and it works.
I finally had a chance to read this volume! I was kind of missing it, the previous volume was so much fun and I just couldn’t wait to continue reading it.
This time we have the spotlight on some new characters, but also on some other characters that didn’t get so much spotlight in the previous book. Nene is now working as a tester/debugger at our main character’s company, which causes really hilarious situations as Nene learns how part-time work works and what not to do. She also learns of bugs, what to do, all nighters and so much more.
On the other side we have our main character who is getting better and better at her job, but still making some errors (though then again, this wasn’t really her fault as no one apparently cared to tell her about such things, good job guys!). She is really getting better and better with each chapter, and I am still laughing at the fact that she is out of school, but still looks like a high schooler. On the one side that must be a blessing, on the other side, her suit still looks like a costume put on by a child.
This volume also marks the finishing touches on the game they were making in the first volume. We get several interesting stories about all-nighters, debugging, stress, more stress, and then what not to say during a release day.
I was really laughing quite a lot, especially at our gun/military crazy girl. It was just hilarious the things she said, and did. You just don’t give people shells of bullets.
The art is still really pretty, and I loved that we had some full colour pages as well, it really brought out the characters!
All in all, I would really recommend this one, as for me? I can’t wait for the next volume, and also for the manga to finally air (soooon).
There are lots of manga series covering middle school and high school. There are very few that cover the beginnings of adulthood and working. This manga series covers the latter. For that alone, it is worth reading.
The characters are well-defined and likeable in differing ways. The story makes sense and is engaging. The art is well done. I recommend this series and may end up going beyond the 7 volumes I currently own.
