If you enjoyed the romance, humour, mystery and fun of the Shackleford Sisters, get ready for more mayhem with the Victorian Shacklefords…

Ten days after the shocking events in Casa-del-Mar, everyone in Cliff House is on edge. Muriel Pemberton has vanished with the Pembroke files, Benedict Hartley has not been seen since that fateful evening and Jacob White is still very much at large.

Then two things happen at once. Robert Noon - son of Henry Shackleford's oldest friend Finn - steps off the SS Lusitania at Plymouth's Millbay Docks, carrying letters from Australia and news that cannot wait. And Billy Wiggins, who has been conspicuously absent since breakfast, is nowhere to be found...

With a forced transfer to Newcastle sitting on Benedict's desk like a death warrant, Benedict knows that pursuing Jacob White means risking everything, including the woman he loves. Asking Arabella to follow him into danger is unthinkable. Leaving her behind may prove impossible.

As an auction of innocents looms at the end of June, Shackleford and Daughters are about to discover that Jacob White's reach extends far beyond Torbay, and the most dangerous things in England are sometimes dressed up in the very best charitable intentions.

For Beatrix Shackleford, who has always considered romance a vastly overrated pursuit best left to her sisters, the arrival of the tall, sun-bronzed Robert Noon is about to prove deeply, infuriatingly inconvenient...

In this, the third book in the Shackleford and Daughters series, the Shackleford family faces their greatest test yet - where the pursuit of justice demands more courage than any of them bargained for, and love has an inconvenient habit of arriving at the most dangerous possible moment…

While this novel doesn't contain an excessive number of spicy scenes, it isn't closed-door and wouldn't be considered "clean" romance.

Beverley Watts

Beverley spent 8 years teaching English as a Foreign Language to International Military Students in Britannia Royal Naval College, the Royal Navy’s premier officer training establishment in the UK. She says that in the whole 8 years there was never a dull moment and many of her wonderful experiences at the College were not only memorable but were most definitely 'the stuff of fiction.' Her debut novel An Officer And A Gentleman Wanted is very loosely based on her adventures at the College.
Beverley particularly enjoys writing books that make people laugh and currently she has four series of Romantic Comedies, both contemporary and historical, as well as a humorous cosy mystery series under her belt.
She lives with her husband in an apartment overlooking the sea on the beautiful English Riviera. Between them they have 3 adult children and two gorgeous grandchildren plus 4 Romanian rescue dogs of indeterminate breed called Florence, Trixie, Lizzie and Aggie.
Until recently, they also had an adorable 'Chichon" named Dotty who was the inspiration for Dotty in The Shackleford Diaries.
