wow

I don’t even know where to start. I had such high hopes for this book but when I was 50% in, I knew it was too far along for all of the bad things to be completely resolved satisfactorily.

My biggest gripe with this book is Hannah, the FMC. She spends most of the book degrading herself and having little confidence, with barely a mention of her aspirations or dreams—and then it seems like within a chapter at the end of the book, she’s suddenly made up her mind and has done a complete 180 on her current job and is all in with her new pack. However, even this sudden pivot could’ve been overlooked if it wasn’t for her being such a doormat to Ellis. You are telling me that he put her through all that shame, blew up her family relationships, humiliated her (basically all the way until the end of the book) and she never once walks away or breaks it off?
I understand what the author was trying to do by making her seem dependable for Ellis, but seriously? There was no character growth from her whatsoever in the book; in fact, most of her sudden change appears to come from being wanted by her pack and getting the male validation it seemed she somehow needed.

Instead of pushing the idea that women should be unrelenting, understanding and compassionate for emotionally traumatised and deluded men, it would have been nice for Hannah to actually find herself or give herself the same grace she consistently gave Ellis. Giving Hannah something to focus on outside of her men, and seeing her get her own interests and stand on her own two feet with some independence, would’ve then made Ellis’ subsequent grovelling so much better. Instead, she suffers relentlessly throughout the book, has no character growth, and is somehow “blessed” with her pack—despite the vague notion in the epilogue that mentioned she understood Ellis would trip up at some point in the future (really??).

Please don’t get me started on the men. I love male omegas when they are redeemable. Ellis is described as morally grey; he is not, he is absolutely awful.
Honestly, Gavril and Hannah should have run away together and left Ellis and Kane behind. Enough said.

Disappointing book that I had been looking forward to reading.

⚫️ Omegaverse
⚫️ Reverse harem / mmmf / no ff
⚫️ Pace: medium-fast
🚨 Make sure to read the trigger warnings. It's not very dark, but there are some kinks and owd.
📚 Ebook / braille. Thank you so much for the oppertunity to ARC-read this book.
⚫️ Microtropes: fake dating, fmc beta, curvy fmc, owd, past trauma, kinks, AABO
⚫️ The characters are not your typical omegaverse fmc and mmc's. Their imperfections are kinda why I liked it, because it does get messy!

Use Me Up was definitely not the sort of omegaverse that I'm used to reading. Not necessarily in a bad way, and I think it would be a good one to pick up for those who would like to mix things up a bit or who would like to branch out from the norm. However, I would take some triggers into consideration before jumping in. There is some other woman drama that may be a turn off for some readers as it does dip its toe into the cheating territory, in my opinion at least. The lines blur a little bit with this being a fake dating type of situation, so make that decision for yourself and what you are comfortable with.
I do have to say though, I love a good beta to help balance out a pack! I've always loved how they seem to be the missing piece, the person that knows everything about everyone, noticing the little things that get overlooked, and Hannah is no exception, even if she doesn't think much of herself through the majority of this book. This girl started out lacking self-confidence, being full of enough desperation to start a fake relationship with her crush, Ellis, who pretty much uses her how he pleases, and pushing herself to reach toward unrealistic goals that she was never truly interested in. It really makes you start to question at one point if she's a masochist. Like what's going on, girl? But being a beta with an alpha mother in such a highly influential and powerful position, it's understandable for her to compare herself and strive to be something her mother could be proud of and to have certain goals simply because she felt it was something expected of her. I feel like a lot of people can relate to something like that, not wanting to disappoint their parents.
But just like Hannah was good for the pack, they were also good for her. She got the family bond/connections, the best friend vibes, the pampering and gifts, not to mention the unconditional support from all the guys. They gave her everything she had been lacking before and helped build her up so she could decide what she wanted for herself and for those in her pack. “...I don't feel like I was anyone until I had someone to be anyone for.”
Overall, I enjoyed this book. It was different and not my typical go-to, but I'll be reading more from this author in the future.

I was excited for this ARC because I love omegaverse with found families and this one delivered.

Use Me Up is an emotional whirlwind omegaverse about how even the most destructive people can build a stable supportive family.
The setting is slightly different then the norm. It focuses more on the toxic emotional traits of alphas and omegas with betas being the most mentally sound and supportive.

The story has three parts. Part 1 was the hardest to get through for me and I almost gave up. It focuses on the FMC and MMC relationship where both have toxic traits and emotional detachments. The FMC lacks all confidence and acts like a rug to be walked over. The author warns us prior to reading and I often had to remind myself of this. The author succeeded in feeling no remorse and almost hate for the MMC as well a wanting to shake the FMC from their actions. Well done!

As the story progresses, characters grow and develop. Acknowledgement of Mental health and it's effects from childhood traumas. Therapeutic interventions to assist in improving self worth and the feelings of others is crucial in this new found family.

I'd recommend this book for fans of second chance romance with emotional depth.

-ARC Reader Copy-

happy to have the chance go read this before the publishing date!

This omegaverse book is slightly different from the usual. They are not scent match driven like the usuals and cant stay away from each other which causes all this drama. Good dive into how obsession can be toxic, hurt you and others. Was some parts of it taboo yes it was, but that didnt stop me from enjoying the read. I feel like at the beginning everything accelerated realy fast. But it up at as i have read. It consists of three parts, in which i started each of them, i could see the growth of the characters and felt like i was jumping from one book to another one.

Wished the end was a little longer, Culd have wanted more detail on how Ellie felt being a father since he didnt want it before, i understand he loved seing Hannah with his alphas but that is a big step for him.
Multiple times i have asked myself why Hannah is not standing up for herself, but the advise at the beginning kept popping up on my mind so i enjoyed it. Would i have stood up for myself? YES. But this is Hannah’s story.

Thank you for a fresh story end perspective. Just realised the author also wrote ‘The other Omega’ which was different then the usual plots and i was soo angry at the characters . The book was AMAZING. Not the usual i wasnt happy with the outcome to my liking haha but a good read is a good read.

DNF @50%

I gave this a good try, but not only are the characters a bit awful, but the writing style feels jerky and isn't very pleasant to read, especially for the FMC POV sections.

I'm halfway through and I just can't see how the author can resolve this satisfactorily.

I also constantly felt like I was missing context. Was there a book prior to this that introduced Ellis and his alphas? I'm not enjoying it enough to go digging.

And lastly, do note that this book has cheating.

No no no no no no

I do not read romance for the FMC to still be insecure and just settle by the end and for the MMCS to not actually be that arsed and also settle.

Also the cheating? What? No!

This was so so lacklustre and nothing ever really got resolved.

I kept holding out for a hero, but alas, Hannah settled.

Overall really a good read. That being said, go into Use Me Up with an open mind. I can see that this may not be eveyone's cup of tea, but I enjoy how the Author take you on a journey with my less than pleasant emotion on this roller-coaster ride.

4.5 ⭐️

The angst and heartbreak in this book? Ugh. My heart hurt so bad. It was a hard read at time but I honestly think it was one of my favorite Omegaverse books I have ever read.

Is publicity / ads in books a thing now or did I just got a dud copy?

I liked the pace of the book and strangely enough, I liked the cheating plot, I guess there's a first time for everything.

This one’s going to be a guilty pleasure for me

I saw this on a FB post, and the description made me laugh. I decided to give it a whirl. I wasn’t very sure of it at first because …these people are in bad places. And Ellis is..not a great person at this stage and seems irredeemable. BUT the character development for all of them, their growth, was spectacular. Will definitely be reading more from this author.
