Phoebe Woodard's world has changed. With her mother brutally murdered and three small children to look after, Phoebe is lost in a world of infected cannibals until she meets seventeen-year-old Leland and the vampire, Jameson.
Although unlikely allies, the three of them band together within the first New Night as super fast, super strong flesh-eaters known as Rippers begin to sweep over the country. Fears must be faced, bonds must be forged, and futures must be protected.
In the New Night, where not even a vampire can withstand the Ripper flood alone, will Phoebe, Leland, and Jameson be able to find the safe place they need together?
Rippers, completely out of my comfort zone. I have stepped into no mans land, where I never thought I would be. This book was so good! It kept me wanting to flip pages, it had me enticed into the plot line filled with unknown excited events. I was even asking Ashlei when the next book will be out, because hello! I want to know more to this story. There was one place that was predictable, but that is okay. It is buried now, and we can move forward. (insert sad face) Rippers is like The Walking Dead on steroids. The “walkers” which are called rippers are stronger, meaner, and faster than those walkers. They can smash cars, windows, etc. Pretty creepy. Phoebe, a teenage girl, helping her mom out at a daycare, Phoebe just so happened to be at the wrong place, wrong time… or was she? Leland, which by the way I love the name, an older teen who gets left by himself due to family not knowing when to be quiet. Jameson, a new vampire, who just lost his wife, the love of his life, and the one who created him. You get to bounce around with characters and I loved that. I loved know what each character thought, it really helped with the story, and you got to know them more so the story felt real. It felt as though you was going through the emotions in their journey.
Rippers, an aptly named man-made species of undead humans who literally rip objects or people apart. A virus is the cause, running from one infected to another from a single bite, and it's incredibly contagious. No one is safe from the rippers. Undead, super human, ravaging, super machines. How do you outrun them? What are their weaknesses? How did this all start?
Phoebe, a teenage girl helping her mom out at her daycare. Leland, an older teen surrounded by loud family members. And Jameson, a man who recently lost his wife and love of his life. These three unlikely companions must band together to survive or risk being overrun by rippers. Can they trust each other? How long can they keep running?
Rippers was an amazing journey for me to go on. I am looking forward to the next book anxiously! I felt like I was right there with them the whole time. My heart was pounding and I was exhausted as they were throughout their ordeals. Ashlei Hawley has written an amazing adventure that I suggest everyone goes on.
This story caught me from page one. I loved the different twists and turns. The story is told from different points of view which kept the story interesting and the action flowing. And of course what makes it stand apart is the inclusion of vampires in the whole post-apocaliptic/zombie world. There were a lot of unanswered questions so Im really looking forward for the next book in the series.
I was lucky enough to beta read this book. It was really good i love the twist she has on the zombie virus. Auction packed and full of gore. It was a real page turner ever time i fished a part she gave me i keep asking her for more that i had to know what was happen. Lots of twist turns and surprised you will love this book it will not disappoint you. I am so ready for book two now <3
At first I wasn't sure about book with both zombies and vampires in it but it worked well. Pretty good story with maybe just a few more details needed at times but still easy to follow. I would definitely buy the second book in this series.
An exciting book, but simplistic in a way. A ragtag group of characters, all easy to identify with. Quite fast paced and well thought through. Very enjoyable, a few too many missed typos though.
Rippers, completely out of my norm of Romance. And sometimes you have to step out of the box.| I am so glad I did with this author. Ashlei Hawley is new to me and what a way to be pulled into a Genre. The story grabbed me from the beginning, took me out of my comfort zone and held me to the point I didn't want to put it down. Finished it within 24 hours, Highly recommend! I will definitely be looking forward to more from this author.
Hawley's Vampire/Zombie novel was recommended to me by a friend. A step out of my comfort zone? Yes. Glad to read something fast paced & exciting this week? Definitely.
A must read for not only fans of the genre but also for fans of real page turners.
When I sat down to read this book, I wasn't sure what to expect. This is so far outside what I normally read, and that usually makes me nervous. What I found on the pages was a story that was enjoyable and entertaining. Fans of The Walking Dead might enjoy this book. If you're looking for a new read with vampires, zombies, and the end of the world as we know it, Ashlei has you covered!
I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
