I genuinely don’t even know how to put into words how much I loved this book. Knowing the story behind it made it even more special, but honestly, it stands beautifully on its own.

An incredible debut book, Jackie is absolutely on her way to greatness with her writing. A story full of love and life. I can’t wait for everyone to read this and fall in love with their story as well 🤍

The most interesting parts of this book were the inside look into the NHL Combine and Draft. I disliked that it was framed in the context of a love story as I feel like they’re trying to capitalize on the popularity of other hockey romances. The love story itself was pretty formulaic and cliché.

The characters were flat and underdeveloped. I liked the parts about Miles’s family dynamics as it felt authentic and heartfelt but a lot of Jackie’s portions were glossed over.

The writing leaves a lot to be desired as the book was riddled with typos and syntax errors. Please devote more time to editing. There were so many references to brands that it felt like product placement in a really unnecessary way.

Definitely more of a memoir than a romance novel though it’s styled like a novel. I was surprised to see it felt like there was a LOT more from Miles’s perspective and deep diving into hockey and all the intricacies of his journey through high school to the NHL draft and everything between. You’d think that for someone writing about their own experience there would be a tendency to focus on their own perspective instead of their partner’s but it’s impressive to have such relatable insight to her partner’s mind. It does read a little juvenile which, to be fair, they are teenagers for the entire book, so that does track, just not really my vibe. Needs an edit for a couple parts, some repetition and a couple typos but nothing crazy just could use some polishing.

3.5⭐️Tierno.

heartwarming page turner

I follow Jackie on Instagram so I wanted to check this book out and I’m so glad I did! She and Miles have such a sweet story and reading it in this dual POV book was both engaging and kept making me smile. I hope there’s another one coming!

A lovely story about teenage romance, written in the most true and delicate way. Knowing that this is ‘their’ story makes it even more lovely. Looking forward to the next instalment.
