"Fear and oppression are only going to intensify as we move deeper into the end times darkness of this world." (Rabbi K. A. Schneider, Self-Deliverance)
This is a must read book for all, and especially for believers in Yeshua (Jesus), for we need to know we are prime targets of Satan and his demons. Good teachings on how to determine if you are being harassed by demons, how to deal with them, and how to walk in the freedom of Yeshua.
As a Christian, I have always been taught " resist the devil and he will flee from you." But I was never instructs how to do this. This book is a how-to book on how to fight and overcome the powers of darkness. It is outstanding.
In "Self-Deliverance: How to Gain Victory Over the Powers of Darkness” Rabbi Kurt Schneider shares his insight into arming ourselves against demonic thoughts and actions that often overwhelm a Christian. By speaking direct commands against the persistent evil spirits that motivate our fear, anger and anxiety we can build a shield of strength around ourselves as we experience God’s healing presence.
Well-written and absorbing Rabbi Schneider utilizes biblical references and his own experiences as we take a journey of exploration, and learn to put on the armor of God to fight against the growing presence of darkness in the growing turbulence of this world. As we examine every aspect of the process of self-deliverance we can feel God's presence at work in us.
Written in a clear and flowing style, the lessons are provided in ten chapters with further study questions at the end. With this book every Christian can discover an awareness of an evil storm that is determined to swamp our minds and hearts while giving us powerful weapons to fight against the forces of darkness. This is a book every Christian should read.
If you are in a spiritual battle, this is the book you need to read! Rabbi Schneider gives detailed instructions on doing battle with the enemy. His instructions are all based in scriptures.
I have used this book and have already had a huge breakthrough in my war with the enemy.
Thank you Rabbi for your love of the Lord and helping me to overcome in victory through the love and power that the Lord has given me.
By far thd greatest book that i have read both among secular and christian books..explains the problems that we face in our daily lives and how to overcome them by the blood of the Lamb and confession.
A lifetime of a parochial Roman Catholic upbringing and never was it explained so simply and clearly that your body is the temple of The Lord, and why. Simplicity
This book is so practical to helping to learn how take your thoughts captive. It is so practical and understandable that it can be taught to teens to help them break generational chains.
This book is all about how to minister deliverance to yourself. I believe in the whole concept of self deliverance and this book was very easy to read, easy to understand, and easy to implement.
I agree with his premise that it is quite common to see people go through deliverance from a ministry (from someone else) and find themselves back where they started a few short months later on. It’s true that people need to know how to do their own spiritual warfare.
His personal stories were particularly pertinent and helpful at every turn.
Included were explanations of what demons are, how they gain access and common areas that need to be taken care of (“closing doors”). He also makes a good case for the whole need of self deliverance itself.
I liked the fact that he talked about our authority and that it is based in relationship with the Lord. The author was also very encouraging about staying in the battle and not giving up.
One idea that he presented seems controversial to me (apart from the whole concept of self deliverance that some people may find controversial). It is that he thinks demons can read your mind, that is, hear your thoughts. Because he believes this he advocates talking to them (“casting them out”) in your mind, and that we don’t always need to or should talk to them out loud.
I would have liked to see some other ideas addressed, particularly, how to know if you need deliverance and also knowing how to distinguish between problems with our flesh vs. the world vs. the demonic. He is not saying that everything is a demonic problem but he gave no way to distinguish between these areas.
The actual examples and instructions of basic self deliverance were helpful and easy to put into practice. But because he did not address some of the things I mentioned I would categorize this book as a self deliverance manual for beginners.
If you are new to deliverance or new to self deliverance then you probably really need this book or another book like it as this topic is neglected in most churches in America. If you are very familiar with deliverance this book may not have much that is new for you but it may prove helpful as a book to give away.

This book covers a subject that is a huge hot button for Christians everywhere. Nearly every church that preaches Jesus as Lord will tell you that He came to set people free from sin. However, do we really want to get into issues? Does anyone really want to hear about demonic oppression in the lives of people who go to church every week? Can we admit that there are people who sit in church pews every week, hurting, in need of change that only comes from Jesus? If those issues make you cringe, then you will probably not be a fan of this book!
However, for those that are seeking out freedom from bondage or deliverance in their lives in any area, I highly recommend Rabbi Schneider's book on deliverance. His passion for seeing people set free from bondage really shines through in every chapter. I love the stories that he offers from years of experience in ministering to others, his insight from studying Scripture, as well as lessons learned by the Holy Spirit through prayer and seeking God.
This book is also not a creepy, flaky, touchy-feely, if you feel God then He's there kinda book. There aren't any fireworks or dramatizations included in the pages. The insights presented by Rabbi Schneider are rooted and grounded in Scripture, and they all point back to individuals keeping their lives focused on Jesus.
The truth is, the week that I received this volume from Chosen Books, I was in the middle of a serious situation in my own life. After reading the first section of this book, I was personally ministered to and encouraged about an area I was praying about. I would highly recommend this book to any Bible believing Christian who is praying through any kind of issue at the moment. It would also be helpful for anyone involved in the ministry in any kind of teaching capacity. My pastor read it and took notes!
(I received this book from Chosen Books in exchange for my honest opinion and review.)
Wonderful insight for those who love reading these types of books. I found it a bit over-the-top and preachy. It's not badly written but it could use some polish. That said, it's an ARC and the finished book could well be finely polished. I received the ARC through Chosen books in exchange for an honest review. This in no way influenced my opinion.
This is not one of those, chrazimatic, fear-filled, demon-glorifying, flaky books. I found this book doctrinally sound, full of truth and light and very enlightening. I will read this work again and again. What an amazing and timely work. Thank you so much, Rabbi Schneider!
