Within Range: A Felon Next Door Romance

Rate this book
He can't leave. She can't stay.

Four cameras watch my house. Not one of them points at the street—they point at me.

My boyfriend is a decorated detective, and everyone in town thinks he's the best man they know. Only I know what it's like to live behind glass.

Then a man moves in next door. Six-foot-five, covered in ink, an ankle monitor he won't explain, and two rescue cats he bottle-fed on a stakeout. A felon, they'd whisper—if they knew. He can't leave his own lawn. And there's exactly eleven feet of grass between our houses where no camera can see.

Kieran Vale is the most dangerous man on the street. He's also the only one who's ever asked before he touched me. Who waits for the word. Who looked at me for ninety seconds and read everything I've spent four years learning to hide.

He says he'll help me get free. He says he won't lay a hand on me until I am.

And every night we spend eleven feet apart, I want him to break that promise a little more.

But my detective doesn't lose. He owns the roads, the records, the whole map. And when he finds out what's growing in the blind spot of his own cameras, the only way out is a secret Kieran went to prison for—and a skill everyone always called my silly little hobby.

Within Range is a slow-burn, high-heat standalone dark romance about surveillance, patience, and the kind of man who spends all his strength being gentle. Guaranteed happily-ever-after. Please see content note.

About the author

Sydney Stevens

2 books1 follower
Sydney Stevens writes romance novels about enormous men with enormous feelings and no working vocabulary for either.

For anyone sent here by a friend, the genre in one sentence: a man who can carry a refrigerator up a flight of stairs meets a woman who is not impressed by that, and then falls completely apart about it for three hundred pages. Do not knock it.

She lives in Arizona, where it is 114 degrees and everyone has agreed to stop bringing it up. She writes at hours a doctor would ask about, keeps a notes app full of entries like "he apologizes to furniture," and has stood in a checkout line composing a scene so unhinged she had to put the bananas down.

Her books always end happily. That part is non-negotiable. There is always an animal with a personality problem.

Hit Follow and you'll hear when the next one lands. Free, one click, and very kind to a woman who has been rewriting the same line of dialogue since Tuesday.

Great story

Loved the story. It developed nicely and it was nice having proximity being part of the build up of their relationship.
